The salon is very nice as well as all the hairdressers, but disappointed with my end result of my hair. I had asked for strong money pieces to brighten around my face, instead I have a very muted "mushroom" brown highlight. I have been getting my hair colored since 13 and aware of the capabilities and limitations, but this is so subpar for $400. Hopefully, it will lighten up after a few washes/will have to go elsewhere to get it corrected. Also, I despise a salon that requires that you purchase a blow dry. $70 extra so I can see what color you turned my hair? Am I supposed to walk out with it wet? The blow dry is not a full, bouncy blowout either. It's what you'd do yourself at your house. Added negative, I referred my mother to the salon and was told by her that I'd receive a referral gift. I didn't mention at checkout because I wanted to see if it was worth coming back to. Unfortunately, I think I'm done here. read more

Update- I am still just as upset about my hair. Every time I wash it I am reminded of this nightmare bc my hair feels so dry on top and it gets so knotted and even though I am gentle when brushing pieces still keep breaking off. I need to find a new stylist but I am traumatized and I am not going to let just anyone touch my hair anymore. I haven't enjoyed my life as much bc I keep worrying about my hair and I haven't been motivated to style it and the sad part is that this happened before the holidays. Hair is so important to us ladies. I hope this was a lesson to my previous stylist. 4 months before this incident I went to her for a trim and I let her know that I was thinking of coloring my grown out highlights and she said she wouldn't wanna do that in case I wanted to go blonde again. I wish she would of just listened to me. I felt like if I wanted a change my only choice was to get highlights and so I did just that and it was a fail. read more

Olivia did my color and cut and it was the best experience I've had to date at a salon! They have been very cognizant of all customers' health and safety and have taken reasonable measures to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. Olivia spent 3+ hours doing a full set of highlights with toner and color and it was so worth the price and more. Better value from what I was paying at every salon I went to in the city. Only snag was originally I couldn't book an appointment on the website due to a technical error but the receptionist took care of it by phone and was very kind. I really enjoyed my time here. The place is very modern rustic. It was full of stylists and clients mid day Thursday, I was surprised! Very covid conscious. Got a haircut with Susanne. She did a nice job and gave me a blowout. The hair wash/scalp massage was great but a bit too short IMO. She was very knowledgeable about products and recommended some. I came out with a product for frizz (I don't remember what it is I haven't used it yet). Haircut was $70 and my product was $40. They don't take Apple Pay but you can save your card on file. It had been a while (a long while) since I'd had my hair cut or done anything fun with it. I decided I wanted a perm (because why not?), and I knew it would be challenging not only to find a place willing to do this but to also do it well. My hair is very long and straight and doesn't curl easily. I called and spoke to Kelly, who was so friendly and accommodating; she scheduled my consultation and subsequent cut/perm appointment with Susanne. When I arrived for the consultation, I was greeted politely and thought the salon had a really nice aesthetic. Susanne was great in explaining everything to me and working with me to achieve my desired look. She helped me to be realistic given my hair type. I am very pleased to have found this salon--the people are very nice, professional, and great at what they do. My husband loves my new look, as do I; it is subtle but enough of a change to make me smile. I highly recommend this salon, and my experience with Susanne was great! read more

Wish I could give this 0 stars. Wife went in for a bleach and blonde hair dye. She got nervous before they started and decided not to have it done. The person that did her hair up sold her to highlights at a higher price. Clearly my wife was not ready to make a decision and was talked into it despite having roots showing. Employee should never pressure customers with second thoughts, especially with an option that doesn't show, doesn't cover her roots and won't allow to try dying it gray later which is why she chose the original plan. At the counter paying for the upsold highlights even I can't notice, the girl at the cash register asked if she was happy and she said no after seeing the results. Counter girl said call back and they will fix it for free. Well, I knew how that would go. They will redo the original plan for full price only. They took advantage of a nervous customer, upsold her to something that doesn't make sense or even show AND will not back up their own employee's guarantee. Never again read more

Sara did an amazing job with my highlights. I have very dark, nearly black hair and had been going light blonde for a few years. After following a stylist for 3 years I moved out of state and was terrified to find a new stylist to color my hair. However my experience at Silvermoon was absolutely great. Sara was very transparent about pricing and every product she used in my hair, and took the time to treat my hair with great care throughout the entire process. In addition she was just really chill and friendly, and offered helpful advice about my haircut while understanding exactly what I had asked for. I followed her from her last salon to Silvermoon Salon and was blown away by how beautiful it is (especially with the new renovations) and how professional they are. I have had, just about, every hair color and style you can think of and Abbey is the best! Recently, I was dumb and forgot to make an appointment for my roots while Abbey was booked up (rightfully so.) I called and they got me in 3 days later with Gigi. She did a fabulous job on my color, french-braided my hair perfectly, and the price was amazing (I even picked up a couple products while I was there!) First, I knew it would be a really involved coloring so I emailed in advance. They got back to me quickly and suggested the best stylist for my goal. I found this salon based on yelp reviews and after browsing their Instagram I discovered their stylists did great work. I was looking for someone to fix a bad dye job I had done a few weeks prior, and I scheduled an appointment with T. I came to my appointment not entirely sure how to explain what I wanted, but I was able to confidently state what I DIDNT want. T spent fifteen minutes at the beginning of the appointment discussing my concerns with me and came up with a plan that she was confident would leave me happy. Boy was she right. My hair did a full 180 and I feel great. She did an excellent job and I am so happy with my hair. She explained everything to me along the way and was very forward with pricing info which I appreciated. She also gave me some pointers on how to style my hair and ways to help keep my color looking fresh between appointments. My hair looked fine after the haircut but they charged me an extra $10 because of how much hair I have! I have never had that happen before. I was a bit taken aback since I was getting penalized because of my race that tends to have more hair. Something I can't control. I don't even have long hair. The cost is usually defined by the experience of the stylist, not the amount of hair. Abbey was my hair stylist and she did so amazing and really put so much work and effort into getting to know me and my hair and really helping me achieve the look I wanted. I used to get my hair done with an amazing stylist downtown but she moved so I decided to search for a place in the suburbs closer to home. I came across Silvermoon, a super cute, friendly salon. I have seen a few stylists there who are all great but Melissa has really made me happy. I have seen her for haircuts & hair color and have even brought my mom in (whose hair is very curly). They say going blonde takes time, but going another shade of brunette can take time too! Melissa truly understands this and has given me the most beautiful brown over a few appointments. Liz, you should very closely watch Sara Elizabeth, when she is cutting hair, because she chops it off when she starts to use those textured scissors. I was so unhappy with the cut that looked nothing like the cut I wanted. And asking people where they live is alittle too personal and creepy . Whenever I walked in I was greeted and the staff was all very nice! They took precautionary measures as well, I had my temperature checked and face mask are required. The stylist was very professional, down to earth, and great at conversation. She let me know each step during my haircut and was asking my opinion and how I felt during the process which made me feel comfortable with telling her what I wanted throughout the process. I took the terrifying leap of faith when I switched from my fabulous, almost-too-cool-but-not Lincoln Park stylist. We moved to LaGrange and the trek up was daunting, and since my wedding had just passed I thought it was a safe time to try something new. Shop local, right? So I looked into Silvermoon. First and foremost, this salon is absolutely adorable. It has lovely decor and the women who work the front desk are a delight! They went above and beyond trying to get me in with Tori. She's the blonde whisperer. I have a lot of hair so my appointments take a lot of time and they're really great at finding something that works around my work schedule. I also notice there aren't any egos or attitudes here. Everyone is welcome and it seems the girls get along. That's really important for the energy of the salon! Second, I was really happy with both appointments with Tori. She is a great listener and strives to achieve that perfect shade of blonde you're looking for. Her cuts are great, too, coming from someone whose hair is extremely tough to nail down. It's wavy, a bit frizzy, processed, thick, and there's a lot of it. I'm heading back for a blowout before a little vacation and am looking forward to feeling pampered again. Love their shampoo station, it's totally dreamy... The prices here are on par with what some of the city salons are charging, maybe even a tad more than my old salon. That was one thing that stood out to me, but you can't put a price on the perfect blonde, now can you? read more

My first appointment this past Saturday was nothing short of fantastic. I was there for a consultation, color touch up, cut, and blowout since my guy I'd been seeing for the last handful of years moved out of state. I procrastinated three months out of sheer terror, and I have grays. I walked in embarrassed and nervous. The atmosphere was tranquil throughout and I can't count the amount of times I was offered refreshment. I knew I'd picked a good place based on existing reviews, but being in there and seeing everyone working there and the people walking out, I felt a lot more at ease. I met with Amber, whose calm demeanor and professionalism gave me a sense of relief. Part of the fear of someone new is not knowing if I'll be able to articulate and convey what I want and trust I'll get good advice on how to manage what I've just done . I was thrilled with the end result, she nailed it. To a 'T'. I couldn't be more pleased with the cut, the layers, the COLOR, the shampo bowl my God, you could take a nap in that thing it was so comfortable. Point is, stop looking around. I found Silvermoon here, and I decided it was time for a professional color on these strands after 10 years. I was greeted by Michelle (I think, I'm bad with names) and was offered a drink and I mean a DrinK (wine, beer, kahlua in my coffee, pop, water, etc)! That was a nice touch after a snowy drive to the salon. I was scheduled with Rebecca. She's a sweet thing, and super talented. I showed her a pic, we talked it out, she played with my hair and we got started. I LOVE my hair. I did sort of an ombre and she really nailed it on me.
