Nicki does my grandma's hair regularly, and she did my wedding updo (more like a low-do, it was a loose and low bun with little curls, but I digress). Moderately priced, friendly, sometimes you catch a whiff of smoke because I think most of the employees do it. Basically tell her what you want and she'll do it for you, 'nuff said. I'm not sure about the appointment thing. Seeing as I was coming in for a wedding updo she did make an appointment for me since its the kind of thing one does not leave up to chance. So I think if you emphasize that you're gonna need it done at a certain time for a reason, they will make an appointment. BRING CASH - that's the only brow-furrowing point for me. read more

After 33 years Nikki has moved from Taylor Street to 613 S. LaGrange Road in LaGrange, IL. (effective May, 2021) The telephone number is the same: 312-421-5420. I had a cut and color yesterday and saw the new salon for the first time. Nikki replaced the furniture and equipment from Taylor Street and designed a beautiful black, white, and grey professional environment. Nikki, however, has not changed. She provided me with contemporary styles and color for over 10 years. She is an outstanding colorist. I have watched my reddish hair fade and she ably adapted to my changing hair with colors that are contemporary and enhance my skin color. I will continue to visit Nikki at her new site because she is knowledgeable and brings a unique personality to LaGrange. In addition, there is a nail salon adjacent to her business so we can get mani's and pedi's now! She is located between the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways and there is free street parking by her salon. Great place for a do... the prices are moderate, not as bad as mario tricoci but not as cheap as supercuts.. they dont' take appointments so you have to try your luck but if you don't have an urgent hair need its worth popping in periodically to see if they're free! read more

I have been going to this salon for almost 10 years now. I randomly came across it as a student in the late 90's and have been a consistent customer since. There were times when I couldn't get an appointment and I would take a chance and go somewhere else. I regretted it every single time. Now, as a physician, my schedule is even more chaotic. In my experience, Nikki is the best there is at cutting, coloring, and styling hair. On top of that, she's a great person. I started going to her because she is near my work and I could go during lunch break. She has never let me down. Every haircut has been to my satisfaction and I am incredibly particular about haircuts. She also got my highlights exactly as I wanted them and she did my hair for my wedding and it looked amazing. She didn't have availability on my wedding day but she rearranged her schedule to fit me in. That's just the kind of gal she is. Over time, my work hours changed and I had a couple kids and it became difficult for me to get to her salon. So I tried a few other places and came to the conclusion that finding someone who can fill her shoes is more difficult than finding a way to fit a visit to her into my schedule. Have been going here for a number of years. Nikki is great! She gives very personalized attention to her regular customers, and goes out of her way to accommodate new walk-in customers (from what I've seen during my twice-a-month two-hour appointments). True, she does not accept credit cards (the fee for a small business drives the price pretty high, so I don't blame her), but I don't mind going to the ATM so I can continue to go to her to get my hair looking great, which I did not have before going to her. BTW, I live on the Gold Coast now, with lots of hotsy-totsy salons, but I still love the experience I get going to Taylor Trimmers, and for a lot less bucks. This was my first time going. I got a women's cut and blow dry, and Dayna did a fantastic job. She made absolutely sure she understood what I was asking for, and both she and the other woman who was working were very friendly and chatty. I walked in on a weekday afternoon, and there was no one there. Make an appointment, though, if you want to be on the safe side. And they do not accept credit cards. At about $50, it's more than I normally pay but really not all that expensive for Chicago. Highly recommended. read more

Going into Taylor Trimmers seeing Nikki is the first steady stylist I have ever kept. She is amazingly talented and i love talking to her and the people that frequently visit there. Not only do I love my hair no matter how many times i want it changed,but I appreciate Nikki and her love for what she does. I am a picky client and she Always gives me exactly what I ask for. The salon is clean and you feel like family, most of the time I stay for a little while after my hair is done because I laugh and enjoy the cast of characters who work and visit there. I LOVE this place and highly recommend it. They have a wide variety of clients from doctors to students, young to old.
