Instead of asking questions or attempting to understand the problems, he immediately declined my request, claiming he didn't service my area. This was particularly confusing because I'm in San Luis Obispo, where he also operates. After I questioned him about this, he suddenly confirmed that he was indeed in San Luis Obispo and offered to look at my laptop. He then suggested that it sounded like an electrical grounding issue, despite the symptoms not clearly pointing toward that diagnosis. I understand that computer problems can be complicated and that no technician can guarantee a solution without examining the machine. However, the inconsistent communication, immediate dismissal, and seemingly premature diagnosis did not inspire confidence. I was looking for someone knowledgeable who would take the time to understand the issues before suggesting possible causes. Unfortunately, this interaction left me questioning the professionalism and technical expertise of this business. All that remained to be done was to connect the two monitors and update the software. Rick decided that it was necessary to reinstall the data from my old computer. He did this from the backup drive, which was not up to date. When that error was pointed out to him, the transfer had to be done again from the old computer. All of this redundancy took several hours, for which I was charged $550. Two days later, I discovered that my email program would neither send nor receive, and all of my email history was gone. I tried calling Rick Wilson twice to ask that he rectify the email program. He did not answer, so I left voicemails explaining the problem, but he never returned my calls. I also sent two text messages, which also were ignored. Now I have to find someone else to finish the work for which he was overpaid. The quality of work I received from Mac Services does not speak well for the professional competence of Rick Wilson. More importantly, failure to respond to calls and texts doesn't speak well from his ethics or integrity.

After 3 days with no response, I decided to try another shop - Alltech Computer - which handled my situation very well. I sat down at the computer, pushed the power button and nothing happened. I mean NOTHING happened! So I went to Cal Tech to let "tech support" look at it. (my grandson is no longer available.) Mason advised I just replace my tower, so I took myself and my credit card to Best Buy where I purchased a lenovo computer CPU that looks like a tiny spaceship. I took the new "little guy" and the tower of the old computer back to Cal Tech. Mason efficiently moved my data to the "little guy", and did so at a reasonable price. I have since then dealt with Ethan, Matt, and Brent, the owner, who answered the phone on a Saturday! All of them have been considerate and clear in their explanations.
