I visited both the downtown YEG and St. Albert location of Macaron & Goodies today. A group of coworkers and myself popped into the downtown location today on our way back to the office. It's a couple blocks north and east of Rogers Place - located on 105th and & 101st street. We all got the feeling that this isn't much of a walk up shopping area and maybe used more so for the catering side of the business. Everything looked absolutely scrumptious inside from the 21 flavors of Macarons to the spiced pear tart! Between the lot of us we ordered about a dozen flavors a Macarons and a couple pastry treats. My favorite macaron by a landslide was the lavender vanilla. The mango was okay and the salted caramel... well, both my coworkers salted caramel Macarons were crumbly and crunchy - not fresh or soft or chewy. And mine had an oopsy - a hair in it. I emailed the store a picture of it and a note when I got back to the office. They responded quickly within the hour inviting me to come back for a replacement (and that's what brought me to the St. Albert location later in the evening... but I digress...) This location offers lunch and French breakfasts but the ambiance and seating didn't really make us want to stay. Again, we felt the vibe was more order to go and catering here (St. Albert is larger and felt more inviting to stay for a cup of tea or coffee). Unfortunately the consensus in my group was that these were okay but not amazing - and also not consistent. One coworker has been to France and lived there for several years so she loooooves her French pastries and she was disappointed in both her macaron and chocolate au pain. So I'm left up in the air about the downtown location. I'll be much more likely to pop into the St. Albert one as a mom daughter treat. * Also they still had candy canes and Xmas decor up in February - odd, but okay. Valentines Day is next week ;-)

I heard about this bakery but walked right by it as I was going to meet a friend. I'm glad that after our lunch she wanted to bring me here! The bakery was empty when we arrived and no one behind the counter but a woman popped head out from the doorway towards the back. I don't recall her saying anything and we browsed the baked goods as we waited for someone to help us. The young woman who helped us with helpful and gave us her recommendations. She also told us there was parking behind the building. There was also a free sample and it was yummy! I can't recall the exact name but it was like an apple torte. Next time I will buy that. My friend tried the almond croissant and recommended it. There were 3 so I bought one and she bought the other 2. I also bought macarons to share with others but I should have gotten other sweet treats as they were not my favourite. I ate half of the croissant the next morning but I didn't warm it up. It was a heavy instead of light and flaky and later that day I warmed it up and it tasted better and not so heavy. They also have ice cream that looked yummy too! There are two tables with chairs and reading materials. I likely wouldn't sit and eat but I'm often in the area for work so I'll definitely be back to get other sweet treats!

This is a surprising little gem to find in a pretty dubious area - most of the businesses on this block are closed down and boarded up, but this little French bakery seems to be doing well and is full of delicious cakes, pastries, and sandwiches. I assume most of their business is done by catering and Skip the Dishes, but they do have seating for 10-15 people. I've been there a couple of times for lunch and their sandwiches are great, as are the desserts I've tried. The service is a little slow, but I'll definitely be back.

This place is special. An oasis in the middle of what is not Edmonton's best side. The pastries are wonderful. In fact I would say that they are better than some of Edmonton's more well publicized bakeries. I had the opera slice for $5.95 (expect to pay more elsewhere) and it was incredible. I tasted some other delights and all were good. They also offer sandwiches, coffee and breakfast so we will be back to try those. They have very comfortable seating but it is limited (three or four tables). Note that the free parking area behind the shop isn't for everyone. It's safe but there may be a number of homeless people nearby. If that's a concern there's other parking that can be found nearby. 5 out of 5 stars.

I was walking by this place to go to City Centre Mall for lunch. On the outside, it didn't look like it might be open. It's a sketchy area and there's just a general feeling of dust covered, out of business stores. I took a risk and stepped inside. It felt like I had teleported into a totally different place. Inside, the atmosphere was so fresh. The place was clean with a couple large tables able to seat up to four people each. Behind the counter, this friendly lady greeted me with, what I later learned was, a Tunisian accent. On display there was an array of sweets ranging from cookies to eclairs and cinnamon buns. She had even prepared some Orange Crush macarons in honour of the Oilers. I decided to order the chicken sandwich and it was delightfully simple, yet delicious. One of the favourite parts of the sandwich was the warm ciabatta bread. It had red peppers which I usually avoid but they really worked with the sandwich. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to drop by.

This place is a hidden gem in downtown. Yes, the location is not very appealing as there are many homeless people on this street, but it's worth a visit! The macarons are to die for; they melt in your mouth. I've also tried their crepes here and they are also very tasty. Such cute French decor makes you forget you're in Edmonton.

Easy to see storefront and streeparking right infront of the store. Staff was friendly but not overly so - she asked if it was my first time in and answered my questions when I didn't know some of the fancy Fench lingo. So many different sweets and treats and everything looked lovely. The space inside was also nice and would be a great place for a date for coffee and a sweet treat. They also had some really nice gift ideas such as jam, macarons, cookie packets, and even halal beef gelatin. The Mikado cake was Delicious. Moist, well balanced, not too sweet, with a nice crunchy walnut element. The Montelimar cake was the best. Not too sweet, creamy, cake was moist. Definitely one of the Best pistachio-based mini cakes I have ever had. The Peach Frangipane was pretty standard in my opinion. Curst was a little dark for my liking, super crumbly and rim was super dry. Centre was the sweet almond-flavored custard but a little dry and not very flavorful for my taste. Overall cakes were some of the best I've ever had, the decor was lovely for dine-in, and the appearance of the desserts/sweets was immaculate.

My daughter wanted for her birthday a Keylime pie I couldn't find it anywhere went to seven different pastry shops and none were open because it was Monday. Macaroons and goodies was open and I didn't think they'd have a Keylime pie but they did and it was marvelous. Oh, I won't go to any place else, but this place from now on excellent excellent food.

Popped in here for a quick treat in between hockey games…read more We had never been before but I had seen some pictures on Yelp that made me super curious. The staff were attentive and friendly. I inquired if there are other locations and the staff member let us know there is a second location on Whyte Ave but with different owners. Bright and cheerful BUT be wary of screaming/loud kiddos in the back seating area - you see kinda in a cocoon and the sound reverberates like nothing I've heard before. And I don't mind kiddos or noise but this space amplifies it by a million. After waiting about 10 minutes we switched to the front seating area and even though we were only 2-3 tables away from the kids and babies the decibel level was dramatically lower :-) That being said, the back seating area has a really cool vibe and I'd totally sit there again in the future. The menu consisted of soufflé pancakes (starting at $13.95), croffles ($6.99), macarons (2/$8.50), gelatos ($4.95 +), roll cakes ($4.99), and burnt top cheesecakes ($6.99/slice) and soufflé cheesecake ($16.99). All the beverages are served one size only in what would probably be a iced tall at Starbucks ($5.99 and up). We shared the iced strawberry espresso today and while it was unique neither one of us really cared for it. It was a standard iced espresso with a shoe heavy whipped cream on top (almost butter) and a strawberry jam (seeded) on the bottom. We honestly didn't even finish the small drink between the two of us. The soufflé pancakes are made to order and take about 15 minutes to prepare. The blueberry cheese soufflé pancake arrived about 15 minutes after sitting as described. It was like nothing either of us had ever eaten before - the soufflé pancake itself was incredibly fluffy with cheddar cheese melted in between the two pancakes. The same rich whipped cream we had in the espresso was on the side and on top with the perfect assortment of fresh berries. My favourite part? The caramelized and torched lemon slices (and one it's burst tiny mint leaf). Oh. Em. Gee. I feel like I need to go out and buy a kitchen torch just to do this to lemons at home. Oh and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The soufflé itself wasn't sweet but the toppings sure were. I'm glad we ordered one to share because there is no way I could eat one on my own. (I do wish there had been a larger or more than one mint leaf on this dish). Approximately 15 minutes later our tiramisu croffle arrived piping hot. Presentation was gorgeous like everything else. However, both hubs and I were meh on this one. Overly sweet Hershey like syrup with a mountain of the heavy whipped cream (almost butter like). Neither of us could detect anything coffee, liquer, or marscapone cheese like (typical tiramisu flavours). I had been quite curious about croffles in general and my takeaway is that I personally don't prefer my croissants squished down into a waffle but still a really neat idea! We were given plastic utensils and both of us found it exceptionally difficult to cut through the croffle with the flimsy plastic knife. All in all I'm going with 4 stars mostly based on the pancake soufflé. Neither myself or hubs would order a beverage or croffle here again. Next time I think I'd like to try the cheesecake soufflé and a macaron (I'm curious what the filling here will be like). Two thumbs up - always fun to try something new!

I was excited when I heard a place open up in the city. The aesthetic is very pleasing. I thought these would be heavy but they actually weren't. It makes for a nice light snack/dessert. It is very fluffy as advertised. We came here in the middle of a weekday and it wasn't very busy. We were able to find a table without any issues. The staff is very friendly greeting you upon entry. I ordered the raspberry with caramelized banana. I think I came in with very high expectations as the taste of it was just alright. As I'm sitting here typing I don't recall it being that memorable. The drinks look fun, I tasted a sip of my friend's and it was pretty good. I found the prices a bit much, almost $17. Not sure if I'd come back again just yet.
