Tiny little chocolate shop but the most delicious chocolates I've found in Edmonton so far. We had some at work and they were so good I had to hunt down the shop in person. They're not cheap at about $2/chocolate, but they're absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious, and beautifully decorated also. So, if you're looking for a delicious treat for someone special (even if that someone is yourself), can't recommend this place enough! read more

Owner and Chocolatier Extraordinaire, Brett Roy, has such a talent there is only one word for it: Artist. The chocolates are beautify pained or decorated and Brett is always creating new flavour combinations that blow my mind and my taste buds! But what I have come to love as much as the chocolates, truffles and bon bons, is that when ever I am simply walking by Brett waves or gives a smile. When I stop in he always has a story about a new flavour he's working on, hands out a chocolate to try, and every time I leave, I leave with the biggest smile. My husband brought me here to buy some valentines chocolates. He was made aware that Sweet Lollapalooza is actually the 2nd best chocolatier in the WORLD!! 2nd to one in France apparently Here in Alberta Edmonton. Incredible. It is a small shop in Manulife building downtown. The front part of the store was small, they had pre-packaged chocolates and goodies. We got lucky, because after we were being served it got busy with a lineup behind us. Service was great. Staff offered us their help promptly. The young lady was attentive and she knew a lot about the chocolates. Especially when I asked her for her darkest chocolate percentage chocolates and avoiding all the milk chocolates. She also laughed at my jokes. She provided a great experience. Why is sweet lollapalooza the 2nd best in the world? Because they have genetically pure Nacional chocolate!! When my husband and I ate our chocolates each piece was incredible! Very different from store bought chocolates, Purdys, Godiva, Bernard Callabeaut. These were the finest chocolates I've ever eaten. We had the pure nacional chocolate, and WOW, now I know what actual pure chocolate tastes like. So fine and decadent with rich chocolate taste. Each chocolate had a soft shell when you bite into it and each had a smooth and soft consistency. We handpicked our chocolates from a glass case. Bought 9 pieces for 21.00 1. Bitter orange (not bitter at all) 2.Extra bitter (Not even bitter) a winner for me 3. Passion fruit (Best flavoured infused chocolate) they use a double fermented process apparently 4. If you have ever been lucky enough to have had chocolate from the great French Chocolatier Pierre Herme in France, then you will know how extremely fortunate we are to have Sweet Lollapalooza in Edmonton, Alberta Canada! There are very few people in life that are just magnificient at their life's work; hence, the Masters of Art, Geniuses of Science and so on. It is patently obvious that Brett Roy, the Chocolatier of this establishment is one of these people: a master! His chocolates are truly gems and taste like nothing else in the world of chocolate. If you think B. Callebaut is the best -- I would liken Callebaut chocolates and Sweet Lollapalooza chocolates to drinking sparkling white grape juice to drinking a gorgeous glass of Cristal Champagne! So, yes the chocolates are expensive but in this case you most certainly do get what you pay for and if you want to impress anybody -- get them the best... read more

Exquisite.Savory.Sumptuous. Chocolate like I've never known. Sometimes they have hot chocolate brewing and they give you a little cup. You can sample the chocolates before you buy. But beware because one is not enough. Once you sample you will buy. Its a high end, fairly expensive chocolaterie you would think it might be snooty but there's such friendly service you feel like they know you. Once in awhile I would have an urge to try new place without checking for a review; challenge myself for new things, hunting for some undiscovered place hoping to be amazing. So after lunch and a pleasant window shopping at the Holt Renfrew with a friend, I allowed myself to be lost at a very quiet building in downtown that is connected to the City Centre mall. When I noticed a petite chocolatier with a very generous looking man in a chef suit, I went right in without any hesitation. The man greeted us with a smile and asked us how our day was going even though as we entered he was in a middle of conversation with his friend. We picked about 13 chocolates and paid $27-ish including the tax. Yes, its pricey compared to store bought goods like a KitKat but your taste buds will thank you later. One of the chocolate we picked had a rum flavor and within a bite i could feel the alcohol coming in, I gotta say I felt little tipsy too for a second. The chocolates weren't too sugary and the taste of chocolate was there without too much bitterness ( ofcourse if you like the bitter taste, you can get them in a dark chocolate ). Also the treat melted in my mouth just right without the clumpiness you would normally get in a cheap or not rightly processed chocolate. Although I will be hitting the gym after my delightful visit to the Sweet Lollapalooza for sure, I have no regrets and the truth is I will do it all over again. read more

Sweet Lollapalooza is truly the best chocolatier in Edmonton, probably even Alberta. They've won many international awards. They have a massive collection of individual chocolates. My faves are passion pardou (probably spelling that wrong), burnt butter caramel, and the eggnog at Xmas time! But the deliciousness doesn't stop there. Probably my absolute favorite item in this little shop is the passion caramels, raspberry caramels, and regular caramel. Oh boy, they are amazing. Pro-tip - put them in fridge. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The location is on the main floor of Commerce Place, kind of hidden behind the escalators. But don't stop looking until you find it! read more

It's now been twice that I've caved in and succumbed to the decadent delights of Sweet Lollapalooza. I had the privilege of meeting Chocolatier Brett Roy, who offered me a sample of anything I wished to try. I zoned in on the dark chocolate and honey nougat, and I'm so glad I did. It was heaven! Automatically I had to have more. The soft caramels are also delicious and simply melt in your mouth. A bag of these makes a great little gift for anyone who appreciates a little sweetness now and then. I will have to come back and sample something new everyday until I've tried it all, lol ... But in all seriousness, this chocolate shop is amazing and stands in a calibre of its own. If I remember correctly, they also offer chocolate-making workshops. After eating a very healthy lunch across the plaza at The Chopped Leaf, my tastebuds were tingling for a treat. I glanced to my right, and what did I see, but a tiny but adorable chocolate shoppe. It's one glass case of several dozen chocolate types and a wall of lollipops, and then a small staircase leads up to the chocolate making magic area. Chocolatier Brett Roy was very friendly, an even let me try out a sample (hazelnut)! I picked up half a dozen chocolates for my afternoon treat, including lavender chocolate. Yeah, you read that correctly, lavender chocolate. It even had a girly pink lips design adorning the top! These chocolate don't run cheap (around $2 each) but they were totally worth it. After reading about them in the paper I was very curious to try this place as I am VERY picky on my chocolate and only eat the best. As far as I am concerned Edmonton has no "best" (to those who consider Bernard Callebaut the best...you have lots to learn about chocolate). Anyways, today of all the days, I got a close parking spot to my lawyer's place at Scotia place and decided to wander off to the Sweet Lollaplooza place. At first I didn't know what to make of it as it seemed they didn't have a lot of chocolates to choose from. They make chocolate on the spot up a few steps and I figured this had to at least be a quality place when you can see the machines doing the work. The staff and owner were very generous with samples, I only took one square sample as I was actually craving an actual meal before indulging in a sweet. In any case, most of their truffles are little squares and so I picked out about 18-20 different pieces for about $35, so I could try them later. I have to say, after trying 5/6 of them tonight, there are a couple that I really like and a couple I don't like - as I said I am very picky. But the presentation and texture of the chocolates is just exquisite, very well designed. The box that they put the truffles in is beautiful and professionally designed, definitely would be a nice present for a lady. I have to try more truffles and give them more of a chance to give a better review, but for preliminary, I definitely recommend this place for chocolate lovers and it is definitely quite a few steps up from Bernard Callebaut, which is not even in this league. One other thing I would suggest is that they add a little bit more variety of milk and white chocolate truffles for the rookies, as most of their chocolates are dark, which is considered to be of higher quality. read more

Absolutely delectable chocolates and great service. The burnt butter caramel is to die for. These folks create very interesting flavours that I would have never dreamed of, such as Earl Grey tea. Of course, I like some better than others, but that's to be expected! The service has been friendly all three times I have visited. The owner and his staff are always very generous with samples, and have always given out complimentary (and delicious!) caramels with each of my purchases. I am in awe of how amazing Sweet Lollapalooza is. On recommendation of a friend I decided to treat myself to some of their chocolates a few weeks ago and I was absolutely blown away. First off, they ALWAYS offer you a sample and it's incredibly hard to choose which one you want. They have so many flavours! While many of them are unique (e.g. Almond Lemon Thyme or Mint Mohito), none of them are too "weird" to try. I've never tried a chocolate here that I didn't like. On my second visit here I ended up grabbing a box of Earl Grey chocolates from here for a tea party I was attending. They were a huge hit with all of the guests. Chocolatier Brett Roy is incredibly friendly. You can tell that he really takes pride in his business. All of the other staff I've met have been great as well. This is a fantastic local business and I'm happy to support it. read more

I love chocolate, and the more chocolate I try, the higher my standards become. This place drew me in on a day I needed a little bit of a mood boost. Since the chocolates are quite expensive here, I only got three, but the owner was nice enough to give me one as a sample. The dark chocolate with the dark chocolate centre was totally delicious--the orange didn't really taste like orange, so I was a bit disappointed there. I had one other that just melted in my mouth and was amazing. I do find the vibrant, swirly and flowery designs on the chocolates to be really unique and appealing--these would be such a nice gift. I probably won't be stopping by here too often, just because the prices are pretty high, but for the occasional treat, I'd say it's totally worth it. read more

I love this little gem. The shop is small, but the chocolates are pure magic. On my first visit, I did not know what I wanted. One of the employees asked if she could help. Since my wife is Japanese, I asked if there was any tea infused chocolates. She said that they had some chocolates with tea, and told me her favourites. My wife loved the chocolates I bought. If you have not gone in and tried these chocolates, then you are missing out on one of the more amazing things that downtown edmonton has to offer. The staff are friendly and always offer you a sample first. The flavours are consistantly changing, to make way for new delights, and they truly are delightful. If you like just good quality melt in your mouth chocolate, then their "flat white" is a must! My personal favorite is the "lavendar kiss", but I was in picking up sweets for my husband and tried a few of their new flavors for valentines day, and I have to say they were all pretty amazing! I love to support local business and anything this good deserves the support. First, I want to clarify this review is solely based on customer service from whom I am assuming the manager or owner. I went into Sweet Lollapalooza today and it wasn't so sweet. I went on to explain to the ladies my reason for stopping in there today and that my place of work is collecting donations for our silent auction, and all the proceeds are donated to the charity "All in for Youth Program". The girls (whom were very nice) pointed to a man and said "this is who you want to speak to in regards to that". I tried to explain to the man where I worked and what we were doing and who we were raising the funds for and he rudely waved his hand at me in a motion like "hurry up or get on with it" with a confused look and and said "ya and what's the charity?" and when I tried to explain to him what the charity is, he rudely interrupted me and said "we only help sick children, if we can". I did not feel welcomed by this man and felt I was taking up too much of his time trying to explain the charity we are raising money for, even though it was a 30 second speech. If you didn't want to donate, that's fine. But you should treat your customers with some respect. read more
