This place is getting worse and worse. When they first opened the food was pretty good. But my last 2 orders from them has been horrible. I ordered 2 club sandwiches and had them delivered with Doordash. When it got here it was a sandwich cut in half. The bread they used was awful. Wasnt stale or anything, Just rubbery. The turkey was over an inch thick with barely any bacon,tomato or lettuce and no cheese. My dogs enjoyed it after a couple bites. Door Dash refunded me 100% so I didnt lose anything on the terrible meal. I eat everywhere in Winchester and this place has gone way downhill. They are very expensive also. Was $41 for the 2 sandwiches. Some was doordash but more than $30 was their charges. Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere. Your not gonna enjoy a meal from this place. read more

Macado's is a great addition to our wonderful walking mall here in Winchester. On a Saturday evening this place was packed. Despite being busy there was no wait and the hostess was able to seat us right away. They have an upstairs where the bar is located and most of their seating. They also have front and back patio seating, as well as a downstairs. The downstairs only has about 5 tables though. To start, they have a Happy Hour drink menu and a Happy Hour food menu. Both are VERY reasonably priced and offer great selections. The times vary depending on the day, however. The actual menu itself is very vast, especially regarding their sandwiches. It is my suggestion to try and look at the menu online before going to have an idea of what you may want. Otherwise, it can be a bit overwhelming. Our meal: My daughter ordered a "McDuffy," which is a breaded chicken sandwich served on a sourdough roll, topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato & avocado. She loved it. I had a bite and agree it was pretty good. I ordered the "Titanic," their version of French Dip. Served on a French roll, this sandwich was stuffed with prime rib and Swiss cheese. my friend and I came in to this restaurant for lunch one Thursday afternoon. we were immediately told that the AC was not working and hadn't for 2 weeks. even though it was a very hot day we decided to stay and have lunch. our hostess Jasmine was very pleasant and found a small battery powered fan for us to sit on our table. the waitress Brandy was very attentive and certainly appreciative that we "weathered" through the heat to have lunch. both Brandy and Jasmine were so kind even though they had been working in a very hot environment. management needs to be appreciative of this kind of staff and work quickly to get that AC fixed. thank you Jasmine and Brandy for your upbeat pleasant demeanors in a not so comfortable environment You both made our visit enjoyable. I am a big fan of Macado's and have visited them in several locations, always having a great experience. Great food and great ambiance. This visit was thoroughly disappointing. We were greeted in a friendly manner and escorted to our table. Once at our table everything changed. We were greeted and told, "Be with you in a minute." Over twenty minutes passed and we watched other folks seated and served. When we decided to get up and leave, we watched our server grab a pad and rush over to ask, "Oh, your leaving?" We thanked her and let her know that someone in our party needed to get to work soon and we afraid we weren't going to have enough time. She rolled her eyes and said, "Sorry." I patronized Macado's for the first time tonight by ordering delivery straight from their website. The process was very easy and had no problems at all with the process. We ordered the Ziegfeld club, the Buffalo Boo, onion rings, coleslaw, potato salad, and macaroni salad. It was delivered by DoorDash, I had never used that service before. I was surprised when I received a text message from DoorDash allowing me to watch the movement of the Dasher. I was given a specific delivery time and the Dasher arrived early to deliver the meal. The dasher was very pleasant and I wish I knew where to leave a review for door Dash but I can't find that. I would recommend using them and I will certainly use them again for delivery services in town for my food in the future. A review of the food was nothing but excellent. The sandwiches were so big we could not eat them all and we have enough for another meal. All the extras were also very tasty. The only reason I did not get five stars was because I did not have an opportunity to experience Dine in service where I could enjoy indulging in some of their vastly advertised menu of libations. I will visit for Dine in sometime in the future so I can have the opportunity to ecocktails and then reevaluate this posting. read more

I have lived in Winchester for a little over 7 years and have eaten in many, many restaurants all over this great little town. Macados was by far my worst experience to date. The service was absolutely horrible! I felt ignored, over and over and over; combined with being dreadfully slow. My sandwich was good, but it was nothing to remember. We like this restaurant bc they have a vast menu. So many options & yummy food. The staff is also always nice & accommodating. The food itself is fine. The service... Not so much. Be prepared to bring your own utensils since management has decided they don't provide ANY utensils unless you ask for it. Oh, you ordered the coleslaw? You get a fork and only a fork. Heaven forbid you might want a knife to spread some ketchup on your sandwich, you didn't ask for a knife. Seriously?! How much can this place be saving in dish washing? You're charging my $10.95 for a cold cut sandwich and can't afford to provide utensils and napkins on the table unless we ask for them... I was very excited when I heard we had a Macado's opening, we go to the one in Blacksburg every time we visit our daughter at VT. We've even grabbed carry out from the one in Harrisonburg to eat on the way to Blacksburg. It is definitely a family favorite. Hubby and I decided to check it out for date night on a Tuesday. We were seated right in front of the door and hostess stand. Horrible seat, we couldn't carry on a normal conversation because of either the incoming customers, the staff gossiping around the hostess stand, or the TERRIBLY placed server computer directly at the back of our booth. Every time a server used it they would rest their arm on the back of our booth, it felt like they were hanging over our table the entire time. I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Our waitress was very immature with her interactions with us (as well as the conversations she had at the hostess booth 5' away). She made fun of my husband and I holding hands across the table, that felt very odd. She offered a side to my order, but didn't mention that it was an extra charge. We had to flag her down for every refill, and sat for way too long when we were finished. I finally had to grab another waitress and ask her to find ours so we could pay our bill. The cook (I'm assuming) came out of the kitchen to gossip at the hostess stand for a bit and I get that it's miserable in restaurant kitchens, but thinking about this large, burly, sweaty man cooking our food made the meal I had just eaten seem much less appetizing. If he hadn't been sweating so profusely it wouldn't have made me think about my meal so much. Maybe they need som A/C in the kitchen? The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because we did order carry out from them once prior to going down there, and it was good. Wife and I decided to eat out, and had been to Macado's in several locations before. We have always loved the sandwiches and service is usually great at other locations. This time like many other times at this location has disappointed us. The restaurant was not busy, place was a ghost town. We walked up and was seated quickly, we were told some one will be with you shortly. We waited and waited. No one came, and there was no one in eye sight to flag down. Ten mins later we left. We found out later that the manager told the host not to seat anyone! There was clearly a big problem in the kitchen though the place was not busy when we arrived. But at the 45 wait mark we were told the kitchen was "backed up!' We had 2 young children with us plus 4 adults just hoping fir a quick lunch. The food was ok though the kid"s pizza was indistinguishable and unappetizing since slices were thrown in a plastic basket and covered with tins if melted cheese "sauce" Impossible to eat by c child or adult! Probably the best wings in town! I stopped by to have a drink and to fix a craving and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere at the bar was great, and the bartender was very friendly--he made a great whiskey sour too! The wings came with a small assortment of sauces but I selected the Sesame Ginger and the Sweet Chili (might be messing the name up a bit but it is the sweeter chili sauce). This was the worst restaurant experience I can remember, they just opened on Friday and being a chain we assumed that it would be worth a try. The staff was so under trained and unprofessional it was astonishing. Both my wife and I work in customer service fields and were simply amazed by the poor quality of staff, management, and the food. We ordered an appetizer and it took almost an hour to arrive, not only that it was all over cooked and terrible, and let's be honest cheese fries, wings, and fried pickles are not hard to get right. First ... the 3 star rating has me a little shocked. First time here and I can't wait to go back. The menu is extensive and can be overwhelming, however they have everything under the sun! The portion sizes are insane! The food presented well and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was good, seating was good, all around great decor. Party consisted of three people and we all chose different sandwiches. Sadly, I can't remember the names, they were very unique and not easy to remember. Here is the only thing that wasn't good. On the drink menu, you're offered a collectible glass to keep. We ordered drinks and our beverages came in water glasses. We thought it was odd and asked about the collectible glass. We were then told they were out and they would allow us to keep the water glass (ok, this was a plain universal water glass). We declined. We think they should have told us prior to ordering. We still would have ordered a drink, however we should have been told. I do want to say, offering the water glass to keep wasn't the best idea. It was pretty classless.
