Have been here several times. When in Winchester/Stephens City, I have to have my hash browns smothered and covered. They are tasty, along with the great waffles. For the price this is a good value. Here you can fill up, whether out and about close by, or a road trip up or down 81. Service here is really good. This location is busy. Sometimes you might need to wait a few for a seat or table. The staff does their best to have it as soon as possible. There's a lot to like here. It's not the most healthy, but a lot of foods and restaurants are not ideal. Will be back soon as like it, and am in the area quite often. read more

when we first arrived, the waitress and the cook both looked at us in disbelief that we were there then went back to what they were doing didn't greet us at all. We took a seat. Then the waitress came up to us. After two minutes took our drink order looked at my girlfriend up and down rudely for ordering orange juice then snarked and walked away. We then ordered our food and the cook said very loudly if anyone comes in after these two tell them we're closed because I'm done cooking then the server in the cook got into an argument very loudly in front of us mind you we were the only people in the restaurant and the waitress made a very provocative comment and used her body language in a dirty way. These two should not be left alone at this establishment quite honestly they should be fired. Neither of them are wearing a name tag so I cannot tell you their names. read more

What's so special about Waffle House? Well let me tell you. The price is relatively cheaper compared to other places. The servers were friendly. The menu is small but that's not a bad thing for someone like me, who couldn't decide when there are too many options. The food quality is okay, definitely not the best, but good enough for the price. My favorite is the waffle here. The waffles are thinner than other places', but they are just perfect for me. Popped into the Stephens City Waffle House at around 1 am after a late night MRI. Restaurant was empty except for two very personable young people doing duty as cook and waitress. The food was delicious, fast and quick, and the staff sweet and chatty. They are a real asset to the restaurant! read more

Don't go here after dark if you're brown you will not get service. This place was terrible! Walked in and was told to choose a table. Sat down and never received menus, drinks, nothing. There were multiple employees looking around. They definitely saw us. After about 10 minutes i decided not to give this dumpster a dime of my money and walked out. I am sure this was their goal, to ignore us until we left because we were brown. Terrible and will never go back to this location. Also to note is that it was dead in there, only 2 or 3 other tables. We stopped here on Christmas night after driving all day. Nothing was open, and we had survived on car snacks and leftover doughnuts all day. With starving teenagers, we decided to try Waffle House. It was really nice inside and the service was great! The guys were so nice and were quick to help our large family! Thanks for giving us the endurance to drive a few more hours! read more

Staff at this location is super friendly and very chatty. On the service side, this place is excellent. The food however seems to have changed since a decade ago when Waffle houses were just what you wanted after drinking in college. The waffles are super thin and rather mushy and uninteresting. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and it was small and uninspired. I could have done without the minor fat injection had I known the disappointment that laid ahead. On a positive note, my cheese and grilled onion hash browns were as good as I remember them. I think from now on I'll stick with Denny's or IHOP. P.S. The chocolate milk is from a carton (elementary school style) and not from the machine which is much tastier and what I was hoping for. read more

It's just another typical Waffle House; at least in my experience. Friendly service, hot coffee and consistently decent breakfast grub. We had a bigger party this time while traveling and they were happy to accommodate us as best they could. Lisa was our server; she provided excellent and friendly service. Our brunch consisted of everything from bacon & eggs to the cheesesteak melt; everything was hot and delicious. Our coffees were refilled promptly and my kids enjoyed their breakfast. This was the only place open on Christmas day and those that needed a meal found it here. It was staffed with cheerful people. There was a 15 item menu for $5.00 meals along with the regular menu. It was terrible. Burned coffee, we asked for some more when a new batch was made and she just poured it out of the other pot. The worker was cleaning a table off and dropped a cup on the floor, splashed all over my jeans and another customers shirt and she didn't even apologize. Came here after an involuntary coffee fast; their decaf was not up to 7/11 standards. Fake butter with partially hydrogenated soy oil?? No thanks. Waffles made out of a 50 lb sack of "stuff" w no jam, sour cream or other upscale options. This is just cheap grub; tasty sausage for a buck though. The eggs are hanging out on a shelf at head height --- idiots! You can only make a sunny side up eggs order with COLD eggs...... Learned that in 1976 when I started cooking at the Strawberry Cafe at third and whatever in LA. This was my first visit to a Waffle House and it will surely be my last. I had low expectations going in and it didn't even meet those. The waffles were flat and small. Nothing like a Belgium waffle which seems to be in the picture. Everything that had a butter component (waffles, biscuit, toast) had a horrible artificial butter/margarine flavor that lingered in my mouth. The hash browns were flavorless and greasy. The water tasted like chlorine. Our waiter was very nice but the menu was confusing and the kitchen seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. We didn't get our side of bacon until the rest of the meal was finished. It's a super cheap meal, however, so I see why people go here. read more

We have often visited this Waffle House in the 3 years we have lived in the area. I would not normally review an establishment like Waffle House as they are a chain and you generally get simple clean food. However last 2-3 visits this one has been noticeably getting dirtier and less organized but after the last visit sadly we will not be back to this location. We went in on a Sunday at about noon. The place was dirtier than usual. Some of the staff were complaining about the long hours and being tired. This is probably why it has gone down hill. They are understaffed. It was the cook that really sealed it for us. He was dragging the bacon at his side, rubbing it on his dirty clothes. He also kept wiping his runny nose with his fingers and then proceeded to touch the food that he was cooking! He did this many times. One of the thing I have noticed about most Waffle House cooks are that they are neat with their grill. This guy was all over the place. He dished the food up with his spatula and his snotty hands dropping some off the plate onto the counter and floor. He would scoop up the food on the counter and put onto the plate. After watching this for about 5 minutes we offered to pay for the meal he was still preparing, but the waitress said no problem and we left. I hate this because we really enjoyed going there a few times a month. read more

Okay so it's a Waffle House and you go in not expecting much. The food is the same as any WH, but the staff at this location is interesting. Our waitress hung out over our table waiting for the order and when we told her we needed a minute she stayed there staring at us until we decided. When we were ready she took the order and instead of walking 10 feet to the cook she shouted at the top of her lungs the order, screwing it up twice. It was a very creepy experience being watched by the waitress the entire time we ate. Two stars because the waffles and hash browns are still good. read more

We were the only ones in the restaurant, the waitress walked away with my ice tea and dint return until half way through my meal. She was caught up talking. The Waffle House is a favorite of mine, when I want something quick to eat, or it's late, or to hang out with friends and talk all night. The service is always friendly and kind. I almost always get the eggs, with toast and hash browns and bacon. My teen son loves the waffles, and the times I've had the burgers I've not been disappointed. The coffee is decent. The only thing I'd change is I'd add omelettes to the menu. You can get your eggs done in any other way though. read more

This was my first visit to a Waffle House. Didn't quite know what to expect beyond, well, waffles. Place wasn't crowded, only 3 tables with 1 server and 1 cook on duty. Service was speedy and friendly. Food was cooked perfectly and tasted good. Can't say the place was anything special, pretty lowbrow, but overall just an inexpensive place to go if you want breakfast cuisine (but surprisingly no chicken and waffles!) I would have given my review another star were it not for a hygiene concern. The cook was actively using his bare hands to prepare the food, plate it, etc. Then I observed him checking his cell phone and texting. Next he stepped outside.. Smoke break perhaps? Not really sure, but I noticed that he grabbed the main entry door handle as he came back inside and didn't wash his hands before resuming his duties. Cell phones and door handles are loaded with all types of germs, fecal material, bacteria, viruses, etc.! He then grabbed a head of lettuce with his bare, unwashed hands and proceeded to make someone's salad. Ick. :( read more
