Pizza is a yes! Prosciutto and honey so yummy. Sub was delish as well. Sat outside in the sun at a picnic table. Have eaten here in winter in the "garage" dining area. It was cozy. Service was with a smile and food was made fresh (expect it to take at least 10 minutes).

They just opened up their cocktail bar, and man was it good! Coffee and smoothies were already on point, now it's the perfect anytime drink spot.

Poppy's Place in Front Royal is a TOTAL return to another time. Poppy, after whom the restaurant is…read morenamed, is the grandfather of the people who work (and I suspect at least partially own) the place. You walk in and order at the counter. This is a down home breakfast place where clearly everything is made to order from scratch. When we arrived, there was a woman waiting on a large takeout order. The order was for the wedding party for her daughter who was getting married that day. The bride so loves this place that she wanted her wedding party to share breakfast from her favo spot. So you get the picture. Very simple, very local. We ordered an array of breakfast items that included omelettes, grilled cheese, egg and cheese and pancakes, toast, along with coffee. The service was wonderful, the people who work here are wonderful. The food is good, certainly not great. I am from a bigger city and perhaps my expectations are skewed from that. This is a great place to visit for breakfast just outside of the National Park and it feels nice to support the local business. Just know what to expect.

My Egg Salad Sandwich was so good, and it hit the spot! And fast, food was here in less than 30 minutes at lunch-hour...no one can beat that in the area. The delivery person was so polite and had the best smile, not sure if he was an employee or from a delivery service, he made my day. Highly recommend Poppy's Place.

Absolutely incredible food and a place I will think about often. It has a Culver's type vibe but with the care of hometown place. Everyone looked like they enjoyed being there and were happy that you stopped by. Recommendation is to bring plenty of napkins and don't over order fries. They are generous portions :) I can't recommend this place enough!

Friendly and helpful service from the young lady who took our order. We waited about 5-7 minutes for our food. Double Cavern Burger with cheese, single Cavern Burger with cheese (extra pickles), chicken tenders, large fries and two types of frozen custard. Custard was delicious. One of us ordered a single vanilla on a waffle cone. Dude must have put in extra, because it was HUGE. The triple scoop s'mores frozen custard wasn't so big, but it was creamy and tasty. Burgers and chicken were greasy, not in a good way. Lots of oil at the bottom of the chicken cup. Double Cavern buns were soaked in oil. Other than the oil, the meat was good. Plenty of toppings, even adding a good amount for extra pickles.

I've eaten crab cakes all over including several famous MD crab cakes and I work at a fresh seafood market where we make our own crab cakes. So when I say I know my crab cakes.... I know my crab cakes. Talk of the mountain: this is a super cute and friendly small restaurant located on Main Street. It is very local friendly and the kind of place the staff/owners would know your name and your regular order. I LOVE that. The staff are warm and inviting. You can watch them breading your food and chat with them as you eat. I loved watching. We got the crab cake with fried oysters and shrimp plate with Mac n cheese and fries and hush puppies and another fried shrimp plate with their slaw. It was pretty pricey but we expected that when buying quality seafood. The fried shrimp were absolutely incredible as were the fried oysters (minus the pearl my son found in the one he ate... but again not too much of a surprise). The taste was great, the cook time was perfect, they were delicious! The fries were seasoned and tasty as were the hush puppies (nothing to scream about but definitely good!) the slaw was good (according to my son... I'm not a slaw person). The Mac n cheese was definitely different but not exactly mind blowing. I felt indifferent I didn't love it and feel like I needed it tomorrow, but it wasn't bad. I honestly didn't have an opinion either way on it but I did eat it. The crab cake. The good: this was literally packed with crab meat. Obviously we seek out places that Jam Pack their crab cakes with actual pieces of quality lump crab. Talk of the Mountain certainly does this.... In my opinion to the extreme. When they say zero fillers, they MEAN IT. So does zero fillers make a good crab cake? In my opinion not this way. It was not my cup of tea and I love crab and crab cakes (obviously). It seemed like their formula for the binder was a mustard based concoction and then it was solid crab. The flavor left a lot to be desired and it didn't feel like eating crab cake because there was no filler at all. Making crab cakes is such a delicate balance, a true art in my opinion and while TOTM most definitely is serious about ensuring you taste the crab in their "cakes" the end result was more of a pile of lump crab with a sauce. All that being said I would absolutely eat there again. They were fabulous and I truly applaud their style. This is just my personal perspective from the one visit. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Rating: my knee jerk is to give this a 4 because I really am not a fan of the Crabcake and would not order it again, however everything else and the people were 10 stars so I feel like a 5 star rating is deserved. If they ever modified their recipe I would try it again happily AND will def eat there again. The shrimp and oyster was phenomenal.
