Hear me out, Any place that has a scan to pay on their receipts, nice staff, and a clean place is worth 5 stars. Plus the food wasn't bad, so I have no complaints. Plus I can't have chicken but they did have a .39 cent chicken wing deal that sounded great! read more

3.5 overall, average service and food. Ratings overall are not great on yelp so typically we wouldnt have gone in but we were looking for a sandwhich and they had tables. There is clearly a reason why. They were not busy, yet still took a long time for our food to come out. Homemade potato chips were good, yet not $2 extra vs bagged chip good. Interesting decor. Booths were tight. The restrooms were in pretty rough shape. My rating rationale  +.5 Service +.5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +.5 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value read more

They are closed. It was a great sandwich place but now it just a memory. Do waste your time, it not there anymore.

Terrible management. The hostess was gracious, but turning people away during a holiday afternoon with simply "we're not seating anyone right now" is ridiculous. At the very least, "we have an hour wait time" would be better business practice. Clearly their poor Yelp rating has been fairly earned. read more

I could not tell you what posessed me to come here for food. Maybe the group outside that seemed like they were having fun. Maybe it was the fun little statues out front that people take pictures with. These are all illusions, designed to trick your senses into believing the food here could be good. I went in and asked what I should be getting. Of all the sandwiches the server pointed to the fish and chips option. Sure why not. How bad could it be. I ended up getting the fish and chips along with a french onion soup. The soup is the sole reason this isn't a 0 star review. The soup was perfectly servicable and it came with the cheese melted on the bread you were supposed to dip into it? An odd choice and I presume one chosen simply due to the fact that broiled cheese is impossible to get off of those bowls. I get it. The fish and chips oh god where to begin. Maybe it was the fact that closest ocean is about a hundred miles away. Maybe it was because of the time of day or the fact that it was a full moon. Whatever the reason this was abysmal. The stuff of nightmares. I could go fishing in hell and catch something better. The only thing about this that was good was the fry on the fish, which was crispy and freshly fried. The fish inside? I might as well have been eating a flip flop from the times of Jesus Christ himself. It was tough. Have you ever heard of a tough fish? I have. The coleslaw tasted as if it had gone bad so I took one mouthful and immediately spit it out. The fries could have been found next to the dead sea scrolls for all I knew. That's how much salt was on them. The finishing coup de grace was the fact the bartender was just openly vaping not but 10 feet away from me. I kinda looked at him and he didn't seem to care. Who smokes inside? Ridiculous. Never coming here again and I suggest you don't either. read more

Macado's has the best onion rings in Winchester. While their sandwich menu can seem overwhelming at first the staff are friendly and willing to customize your food. The atmosphere is relaxing whether you eat inside or out. read more

To be honest - we didn't even try the food at Macado's but the menu looked delicious and we were very much looking forward to eating there I'm leaving this 5-Star review to thank the Macado's staff for being so kind and understanding with our family. We have a daughter with special needs who, unfortunately, had a melt down at the table (after ordering our drinks, before ordering food). It became clear that we would need to leave right away despite the staff being super understanding and assuring us that it was fine to stay. For our daughter's sake we left and while my husband attempted to pay for our drinks the hostess and server would not allow it. They wished us well with kindness and care and said the drinks were on the house. We can't speak to the food yet (we will be back!!) but the professionalism and compassion of the staff during a difficult and disruptive event definitely deserves the praise. Thank you Macado's for making our family feel so welcomed and supported. :) read more

Years ago I went to Macados and it really wasn't great so I decided since it had been a while I'd give them another shot. That was unfortunately a mistake. I ended up walking at out since after nearly 40 minutes I hadn't received an appetizer. The hostess and waitress were very friendly which is a plus and I don't blame them. Whoever they have in the kitchen needs to get a grip. I could understand if they were busy but they weren't, there were only 2 other tables that had customers. It's a shame because this restaurant is in a prime location and should be THE place to go but they shoot themselves in the foot. Trust the low rating reviews here on yelp for this place. read more

super solid meal - very surprised by the reviews of this place. Came in early today (around noon) for a brunch/lunch in a group of 6. All of us came in starving so we had built up an appetite. no one was disappointed at all with their food! i ordered a classic burger and have zero to complain about. definitely got the job done - burger patty was medium well, had tomato, lettuce, and onion. a little light on the sauce but nothing worth complaining over. sweet potato fries were solid too. overall very happy with what i ordered and would recommend if you are looking for southern food quick bite! read more

Won't be coming back here. Would rather just eat at a Subway next time. Taste like bowling alley food or you have to be drunk to enjoy it. Don't even know why we stayed. From the beginning the service was ALL over the place, they only have like 3 waitresses here & they have terrible service. Our waitress checked on us maybe 2 times the whole hour and a half we were here. Once the food came out it was terrible besides what I got which was the "Mona Lisa", only A+ quality thing here on the menu to be honest. Other than that the food my family got wasn't even cooked all the way, the Macado sandwich was more like a MacaDON'T. Not even cooked & they just threw stuff in the bread & it was just gross. The fries weren't properly cooked either, super brittle. The other sandwich which was the Barndog says it comes on a sourdough bun but it didn't even come on that.... Just some basic normal super dense bread that taste like cheap stuff from Walmart. The vibe in here was also just weird as hell, some lady with a cowboy hat on was freaking out cause it rained for 10-15 minutes and was super obnoxious. The crowd in here too is just a bunch of drunk old guys around the bar & the lighting at the bar has 3 light bulbs out.... How hard is it to just replace your lightbulbs & have a decent care of your restaurant appearance? read more

Winchester Macados is as useful as nipples on a breastplate. It is the shoe that hurts the foot. If one were starving in the middle of a desert wasteland and suddenly this restaurant came to you in a fever dream as an oasis, it would be better to slowly desiccate in Death Valley than rely upon this farce of an establishment. After being seated, I have waited 45+ minutes to talk to a single employee. I have waited over 90 minutes for another order. Today, I waited 10 minutes to be spoken to by several employees who walked directly by me, with never even a glance, so abandoned my lost cause and went to Water Street kitchen. It was lovely. Ps- the Macados in Blacksburg and Roanoke are great. But I would rather put a ghost pepper up my ass and sneeze than try this one again. read more

Went there yesterday with a friend for lunch and it was awesome. If you're in a rush, don't go, but this isn't fast food! I got a mushroom burger and my friend got a made to order sandwich. Both were FANTASTIC! My burger was done perfectly, juicy and loaded with mushrooms! Not just on or two mushrooms, but loaded-fall off the burger, stacked high, mushrooms. PERFECT! The restaurant was decorated with various sports memorabilia and pictures from the owner's family. The server was attentive, and efficient. Definitely will go there again when we're in the area! read more

I keep giving this place a chance and time after time again it fails to impress me. The only reason we EVER go is because my daughter sometimes just craves the food that is served at the Macados in Farmville. This one doesn't compare to that one and shouldn't even share the same name as that one. Get it together! We all know that we need better restaurants in Winchester, let this one go so we can get a place that has customer service skills. If you are visiting, don't go. They don't live up to the Macados name that has good food and good service in other locations!!! read more

Two stars because the food is ok otherwise it would be one star if that. The service is non existent you would be better off if you could put your own order in and pick it up yourself, drink empty do like my wife did and go up to the bar and ask for a refill. And also about the service hope your not in a hurry because for a few sandwiches you will be their for at least one and a half hours. It's clear they don't look at the reviews because most of them say the same thing. read more

This place really is a victim to shit service and management. I went when they first opened and the service was awful so I didn't go for a couple years. I went back a week ago today, spent like $80 on a bar tab and Togo and it was ok. Average but fine. Today I walked in for the second time entered around 3pm left around 430pm and received some of the worst service of my life. Empty restaurant, couple drunk regulars at the bar. The bartender that is leaving but served me 3-4 drinks but is shifting out is involved romantically with the one coming in, I only know bc she blabbed about how she was leaving him like a soap for the 30 mins before he came in to some regulars. Legit sat at the bar for 20+ mins with cash on the bar and an empty glass while the "manager/cook", the two betroved bartenders, and one of their kids made up as many patrons as there were in the entire place sat 20 feet away in front of me and just tacked and did anything but serve the 5 guests in the place. Not all the way true, three other regulars were served while I wasn't. Then when I finally ask for some service the bartender says "shift change" like somehow having two bartenders equaled zero. Since I bartended for over a decade and have managed restaurants I tipped $12 on $28 and left. Oh well, never again. Good prices but really needs some management and decent crew. Happy Hour Daycare can't screw your guests and I say that as a father and business owner. read more

WOW - The menu is kool, the names of the sandwiches had me reading.....lol Interesting.... BUT - The service. We were seated quickly. ( and thats the last time that word can be used) Menu's were given, coffees were ordered. Upon checking out the menu - no breakfast here. No worries there were plenty of sandwiches and wraps to choose from. My friend settled on the Titanic, which is a version of the french dip. It came with fries, Waiting and waiting.... The waitress stopped by and said the kitchen is in the basement it will be a bit longer..... hmmm ??? She finally came back. I had asked for a coffee refill and a glass of water.. The sandwich was small, seemed it was chipped steak with french onion soup as the dip, with fries - they needed salt.( never received that) ..dish was mediocre at best, especially for the wait. ...it appears going down to basement is a problem.....she stated it what way... So we waited on the coffee. She came back with another cup, not a pot to refill both..as most establishments do ..so we had to wait some more. Not like it was busy or anything, two other occupied tables... My friend continued to eat the sandwich (and fries without salt) but was in need of utensils--- Never given any other than the spoon that came with the coffee or napkins....REALLY... The waitress was an older woman looked tired, worn out. Very uninterested in serving. Very uninterested in being there. Very uninterested in making the trips to the basement were the kitchen was located. I was very surprised by this.... It would seem to me, upon interviewing for this position.... ......it was stated where the kitchen was located. ....also making trips to the kitchen would indeed need to happen many times through the work shift. .....where was the manager this sunday allowing this to occur ....poorly run, unless you have the time to wait around for the waitress to go to the basement/kitchen to get your food ! No thanks.... read more

Food is fine- if it ever arrives. Service is so horrid that one must wonder if the goal is to create an ambiance of stoned apathy. Absolutely love this place! You can usually expect a bit of a wait, but everything I've ever had is delicious!! Came here when first visiting the area trying to decide if we would move here, and I dreamed about it til we came back! One of the first places we went once we were moved in was Macado's! Seriously you CANNOT go wrong with this place. If you expect these poor restaurants who are trying to hire people after Covid to serve you and cater to your every need within minutes, all while catering to multiple other tables, take out orders, helping in the kitchen, and acting as host, you need to recognize that they are trying their best. I seriously have never been bothered by having to wait a little longer than maybe some expect because the food is totally worth it. And everyone has always been extremely kind! If you are looking for reasonable prices and lots of options this is your place. We were one of the 1st groups to arrive shortly after opening. We opted to sit outside. We had amazing service by Jasmine. It was only her 4th day but did a great job. Because we had questions she had to do a lot of running back and forth to ask questions. The menu is huge so there is literally something for everybody. Nothing fancy but good tasting food. I ordered the Bang Bang Bacon Burger Quesadilla. If you can decide between a quesadilla and burger this is what you order. So freaking good! It does have some heat from the sauce. My sister ordered the Coney Island. Well....not really....little misunderstanding but fortunately she liked what she got and Jasmine apologized multiple times and discounted it. It was a ham sandwich on toasted rye. I had some and it was good. If you are with a group and can't decide where to go then come here because the menu has something for everyone. :) read more

Sandwich's are really good service is a little slow but not that slow always nice. That are understaffed so have patience.

This is an odd place to get a meal. I've gone twice now, and both experiences left a lot to be desired. The food is absolutely not the problem with this location. Both times, everything came out exactly as ordered. The cleanliness/decor are also a non-issue. I'm very particular about the cleanliness of a restaurant. The lighting above the table is almost always a dead giveaway about the places' standard. This was no exception. The lights above the table were dust and grime free. The decor is entertaining, and the rest of the establishment seemed to be kept up very regularly. The problem here, is the lack of "care" from the employees. The servers are a mess. I mean that literally and figuratively. There's a defeat attitude from them. They don't want to be there, and they certainly don't want you to bother them with you being there. I watched a male server walk past waiting customers at the door (who were waiting to be seated for a painfully long amount of time), and he put his hand up to act as a blinder to them! That's beyond unprofessional and into the realm of absurd. The ONLY saving graces to this establishment as of now, are the food and the cleanliness. Some new servers/ hosts, the kind who want to be there and earn a paycheck, would do wonders for this place. read more

First time to Macados. The ambiance is fine. Seating in their booths is good if you're a size 40 & under. Service was very good. Food was wishful. I wish the cheese dip had flavor. I wish the macaroni salad had flavor. I wish the Ruben didn't have whatever odd spice they used on it to give it the flavor it had. It's a freaking Ruben in a.sportsbar, not some Gordon Ramsey reality show where they ask you to "elevate" it. It was just an off flavor profile. Unsweetened iced tea was fine, as were the fries. What's with there only being ONE rest room on the main level... for Everyone?? REALLY??? Other than this, there is nothing compelling to hint at another trip to this restaurant. read more

Please do not judge all Macados restaurants based on your experience at this location. There was a Macados near where I went to school in Lynchburg and it was one of my favorite places to eat in the entire city. This is not that. Macados should remove the franchise tag from this location. We sat down in a restaurant that was mostly empty at lunch time (should have been our first warning). We quickly ordered wings, a sandwich and artichoke dip appetizer. After 45 minutes we received our appetizer which appeared to have been reheated and was barely edible and there was still no sign of the wings or sandwich. When I was in college I loved Macados ranch because it was home made and was literally the best ranch I had ever had in my life. This establishment's ranch was clearly store bought and wasn't a good brand either. We ended up leaving before our food arrived after nearly an hour of waiting. Do not under any circumstances eat at this establishment in Winchester but I would definitely recommend other Macados establishments as I tried the one in Lynchburg recently and it is just as good as I remember. read more

Fortunately, the food is pretty good. Ordering sucks! This morning took my order , took my money, but when I got here, I was told that because the store was closed, it rejected the order. I am standing here with other people who went through the same placement of order and theirs was kicked out as well. We are having difficulty now figuring out how best to place an order, and when we're going to get our food,. As a follow-up, I did contact the corporate office about the service and the lack of refund from my original order. I was assured someone will call me back in five minutes. However, that has been hours ago. Let's drop this to no stars. I am a fan of Macado's and have eaten this food for years.
