Great quick bite with a few drinks. Attached to the Front Royal hotel they have all you could ask for within a quick meal. What I snagged: -Beef Dip with Fries (Awesome meat quality. Sauce on the side was a little salty, but happy it was on the side) The bartender was very attentive and quick for everything. read more

Decided to grab breakfast after an overnight stay at the Doubletree hotel. Nice restaurant that served a good but limited breakfast menu. Our server Chris was extremely courteous and attentive and the portions were decent and reasonably priced. read more

HORRIBLE experience. As we entered, we were just standing there waiting to be greeted and finally s/o yelled across the restaurant telling us to grab menus (off hostess stand) and have a seat. The aggression the blond-haired lady cook had was almost unbearable to enjoy our meal. We could hear her the entire time of our stay belittle the server that was serving us... It was one thing after another this woman was complaining about and putting blame of the server for everything. The cook yelled for the waiter to take out our food, came out missing home fries on both plates and toast so I had to ask for them and that yet turned into another cook being aggressive and belittling the server. As a customer this is NOT something we should hear our entire meal. This entablement defiantly need a strong training course of the ethics of the restaurant world and when, where and how the back of the house should communicate with the front of the house. We did not return again during our stay because if this and it's a shame because the food was good. If you have high turn around for servers, you might want to know from what I seen they leave because of the way they are treated and talked to by the COOK. This review is coming from a person who has been in the restaurant business 30 years, and I would have waved bye and walked out/quit. There was a 1 top (Had food at our arrival) 8 top (ordered waiting on food as we arrived) 2 top (already had food at our arrival) 2 top (us) 2 top (came in after we ordered) 15people total and the cook was struggling to keep it together read more

We had great food and great service in a very nice setting. My wife and I took a weekend getaway and this is one of the places we tried. No disappointment. The server was very friendly and checked on us periodically. The food was very good. For my meal I started off with a loaded baked potato soup ( delicious, and very filling), and then had a French dip sandwich, while my wife got grilled salmon with a Thai glaze. We both left very satisfied and very stuffed. No room for dessert. read more

Houlihan's is tough to review... let me start by saying I only went bc I had a gift card. As I stood at the front area near the sign that said, "please wait to be seated" I waited almost 10 minutes. No problem, as I wasn't in a hurry. I only saw 2 service people in the entire restaurant. One waiting tables, and hostessing when she has a second, and the other was the bartender who had the bar and all the surrounding tables. Because it was just me, I sat at the bar. I asked for a spicy, skinny margarita. It was a new item for this guy, so I gave him the recipe! Unfortunately, he gave the house tequila a VERY heavy pour. I couldn't drink much of it. For dinner, I ordered their loaded potato soup which was topped with bacon, scallions and cheddar cheese. It was very good, could have been warmer. Then I got a side Caesar salad. It was lightly dressed and the Romain was fresh. I decided to order dessert, since my drink didn't go over too well. They have 2 choices- a sundae and cheesecake. I asked the bartender which was better, and without hesitation, he suggested the cheesecake. It was also very good. This is def a hotel restaurant, turnover must be a problem there, but other than being understaffed, I was pleased with my meal! read more

Look...if you're going to open as a courtesy and you don't want to be there please let your patrons know so they don't try to visit. Honestly from trying to get a table there was an attitude. I get it you were open for breakfast and now you have to serve hungry people. But serving leftovers and reheats due to your lack of food items and not even telling your patrons that's something I expect from a smaller organization not a franchise but I guess that probably why the restaurant isn't open during lunch. Honestly I feel like our group patronizing was a chore for them. Not to mention that they had a bunch of people in the back and less people running food out. Just servers pointing in the back it was unorganized like it was soft opening. Now I didn't order anything crazy just a turkey club I have never had a sandwich that salty in my life. I mean don't get me wrong it was decent slices of turkey and ham and bacon but where was the Dijon mustard? None existent I had to ask for yellow mustard cause clearly it was plain. Trying to get water was a feet also I mean I only got one refill we couldn't find our server. Overall this place would be better to avoid unless you just want a snack maybe cause it's the weekend so they are not normally busy and their staff just relaxes. Either way not the best experience and I don't normally comment on service but just watching the chaotic circus makes me wonder how they are passing code and reflecting a franchise. Sure the place is clean but to serve others poorly prepared food. I hope management fixes their attitude and their staff to appreciate those willing to patronize but if not don't bother reflecting the brand cause if this is my first experience with houlihans why would I return? read more

Happy surprise! OK, so this is not gourmet, but it was solid, very solid. We landed in the middle of Happy Hour, so beer and wine were discounted as we're some appetizers. We had the "shrooms," a specialty. Crispy cheese stuffed mushrooms. Tasty. We shared a grilled chicken sandwich, which was smart because it was large. Fries were properly crispy and well -salted. Our server was sweet and attentive. The room was modernist but pleasant enough. Didn't want to drive around in the rain. Glad nature forced this choice on us. read more

Now I understand why the reviews are so bad. I was staying at the hotel and didn't want to go out. I went to Houlihan's in spite of the reviews and thought I would be safe ordering a salad and the chicken tortilla soup to go back to my room. The soup was terrible. A cup of bland broth with a few shreds of chicken and lots and lots of soggy either tortilla strips or soggy wonton hard noodles that were in the aisian salad. I ordered a small Aisian chicken salad. The lettuce was the smallest portion I have ever had and the lettuce looked brown and soggyI hot the dressing on the side. I also now understand why there were only a few people in the place at 6:30 on a Friday night. DO NOT GO HERE TO EAT IF YOU'RE SMART! I went back with the salad and said something to the supposed manager who had the worst attitude. The server who helped with my carry out order was very pleasant. I'm surprised this place is still in business. it's not often that I have this many negative things but I thought other people deserve to know. read more

Great service and great ambience. Angel gave great service and was super helpful with finding local spots. Highly recommended!

Have been traveling to NoVa for the last 7 months and spend a lot of time at the Doubletree in Front Royal, the home of Houlihan's. Breakfast is pretty decent. Have had the omelet and it's good. But the manager is amazing even with very little help. Have eaten dinner at the bar often. The wings are good, the shrimp tacos are good and the jambalaya is surprisingly good for being that far from the coast. I really enjoyed the steak house salad but they took it off the menu. Humberto the bartender, holds down the fort. He is friendly, and what you want in a bartender. Wanna talk? He will talk. Wanna be left alone? Fine with him. He also makes a good Old Fashioned. read more

Past reviews ( less than stellar) actually make me wonder if I was at the wrong place here. I'm usually not too fond of hotels having restaurants unless you are going to drink. Groups beware... this establishment will NOT split checks. We had a group of (7) staying at Double Tree for golf outing and only way to settle out bill ($173) was to put it all on one card or pay with cash. This should have been told to us prior to ordering. Called over the manager and was informed that we should have sat at separate tables. huh?? This was an annual event (7 years now) but although convenient, we won't be eating dinner there again in the future. read more

The nachos looked amazing but were heavily coated in a salty dry ranch seasoning which made them inedible. The fish tacos were soggy and served lying in a liquid combination of lemon, salsa, and fish water. The prime rib dip wasn't awful, but the cheese wasn't melted and you could probably get something comparable at Arby's. The French fries and draft beer were great. First date night with the wife in years...for 70 dollars, I think we will just eat at home from now on. Waitress was kind but inattentive. read more

sat at the bar. My wife and I enjoyed a great meal and Jimmy's service. Highly recommended for an enjoyable and delicious dinner.

We were a party of 8 who were the first guests in the restaurant when they opened. After a while we noticed tables who were seated well after us were receiving their meals and we hadn't even gotten our appetizers or salads. We spoke to our server who could provide no reasonable explanation for the delay and showed absolutely no concern nor did she offer any apologies. One guest ordered jambalaya to only be told once the rest of the meals were served that there were no shrimp for the jambalaya. The guest then ordered Buffalo wings only to be advised approximately 15 minutes later that there were no more wings. The manager offered a substitute salad and burger to the guest and comped the meal. Another guest ordered dumplings as an appetizer which were semi cold from sitting so long after preparation. Overall this was a very substandard performance by the restaurant. Not meeting basic expectations is one thing but it was the indifference of the staff as a whole that was the most disconcerting. Customer service and hospitality training is sorely needed at this facility if they expect to ever score better than 3 stars. read more

As part of our hotel it was very convenient after a day of driving and a few hours of work. I was impressed by the service, all perform by one woman. Obviously affected by the shortage of workers she was playing many roles -- hostess, server, bartender. She was working hard and keeping all the patrons happy. Had the petite morning, was cooked to to order, it was a bit cold - room temperature - when I prefer my meals hot. Overall pleasant experience for a weary traveler read more

I don't think I have ever written a review as negative as I am about to write for any establishment. I have eaten at this Houlihan's for many years and have always been very happy with the restaurant. Last night, I decided to take my family out to dinner (I had a birthday coupon for a free entree). There were other parties already seated, including a large party that was being very loud. We (only a party of 3) were seated and looked over the menu. Our server was very inattentive. We ordered our drinks and we wanted to put in an appetizer because we were hungry. She eventually worked her way back to the table and took our appetizer order and then walked away without even asking if we were ready to place our order. When we finally got her to return to the table to take our order she brought us the check! I said, "No. we would like to place our order." The service was extremely slow for having very few guests in the dining area. The entree my wife wished to order was sold out for the night. The menu was not the full menu I am used to seeing at this location. There were fewer choices listed on the menu. My wife asked about the ribs (which she really didn't want to order) and asked if they were on the bone or boneless. Since they were bone-in, my wife wanted to know if the meat came off the bone easily. The server said that the ribs were her favorite item at the restaurant and the ribs do easily come off the bone. We sat for a while and our appetizers and salads did not come out. Also, they did not refresh our drinks. I asked for a manager and the manager came over and talked to us. I feel that this manager was very inexperienced. We were not happy at all and considered leaving. The manager reassured us that he would be taking care of us and that our food was almost ready. We decided to stay. When our food did come out we were very disappointed in the food. The ribs were not as described and were actually quite dry. We told the manager that we were leaving and he asked us to just pay for the drinks (one soft drink, two waters) and the appetizers. We were not the only party to walk out. Another party also had an issue with placing their order and they did walk out of the restaurant. As I mentioned, I have been to this Houlihan's many times, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

Happy Hour is great! The Breakfast food is really great too! I normally post my favorite menu items but there are so many great options I really can't for once. Food speechless... hahaha. In town for 69 nights and staying at the attached hotel which includes free breakfast (which is really awesome). Ladonna, Rain, and the other breakfast staff do a good job getting your day started. The breakfast shift manager is a really nice guy and he checks on us regularly to make sure our experience is as good as it could possibly be. Dinner: I've seen some great plates rolling out of the kitchen but I usually stick to the 1/2 price apps during happy hour. I always like to sit at or near the bar because Amy is a great bartender and even if i'm only drinking water and eating she treats me just as well as she does her other patrons! She's a nice lady and she loves to call everyone "Honey", Dan... you aren't special! Hahaha In all seriousness, Happy Hour is the way to go! Great Food, Great Prices, Great job everyone! read more

The restuarant was clean, COVID19 protocols in place, friendly staff. Our waiter Andrew was incredibly polite and attentive. The drinks were mediocre. The Cubano Mojito was okay. The strawberry Mojito was terrible as it tasted like strawberry simple syrup. The chicken nachos was tasty until a back glove was unearthed in the middle layer! Yes .. a glove! Now I was grossed out but oddly I did not freak out. The closing manager was very gracious and did not make excuses. Good customer service in my book. Our waiter Andrew was just as pleasant as ever. I have been to the dining area before and the service and food were divine. This time my son and I chose the Bar and it was a mistake. One waitress for crowded bar, and very slow kitchen apparently. The Wings were fabulous and very generous portion because the food took forever. Our dinners were stale. I got scallops and they were dry from sitting and the risotto was sticky.
