The food here is disgusting and the service is absolutely horrible. Very rude servers. The restaurant is very dirty, I doubt these people are serving me with clean hands. Don't eat here read more

I got the big city jazz. Was delicious. Waitress was nice but had to listen 2 other ladies who worked there were at hostess desk complain about big parties being an inconvenience and not getting enough tables. Should probably do that at the back not where your customers can hear. read more

They were out of two things we tried to order and our well done burger was burnt. The crinkle fries were frozen fries and we were there for almost two hours on an early Sunday afternoon. Management was so rude and just made the situation much worse than it started out. If you like food that is burnt, frozen crinkle fries and dont mind being treated rude by management, then this place is for you. And let's not forget the screaming kids everywhere. read more

The only saving grace for this Macado's is that the food is good. The service is THE WORST. I work nearby and am in there for lunch pretty regularly and it's just become a running joke with my co-worker about how awful the service will be each time. Today our server came back to our table after about 20 minutes to ask us for our order again because HE FORGOT TO PUT IT IN. He kept trying to give us things that I knew the table behind us had asked for. And his cologne was terrible and overpowering. The previous time we were there, a different server was equally as bad. Slow, didn't write anything down, and asked the table behind us (a mother and her son who was probably about 6) if they wanted one check or two. lol Every time we, or any other table, asked for something he would respond with "I'll get it when I can." Wow. Kudos to the kitchen staff for the food, or else we'd never go back. read more

Me and my mother visit at least once a week for a quick lunch. It's a nice place to sit just to look at everything hung on the walls, booths, and ceilings. I always order the chicken tender baskets. As you know with chicken tenders it's risky because some places just serve you large pieces of breading. Macado's has always provided me with plump juicy tenders and large pile perfectly cooked crinkle fries. I've never actually gone for dinner or ordered a sandwitch so I can't vouch for that any of that stuff. Though I'll agree they are a little challenged at refilling your cup even at lunch time. read more

We were looking for a fun but family friendly place to eat while took a quick look at my moms Alma mater, Radford. Stopped based on the reviews and it was a fun friendly place. Good cashew chicken salad, husband liked his Honeymooner sandwich. Food isn't a culinary delight but it's good and the service is friendly. read more

This place is one of the things I miss about Virginia. I have been to Macado's too many times to count. I will say that the service always leaves much to be desired. I can honestly say that I've never been impressed with the service. But the food is awesome. I don't care what anyone says, I love the sandwiches, nachos, desserts...All of it. I will always go to Macado's when I come back to the valley. read more

Food was inedible . Very dirty restaurant, and the staff was not well trained. Old and dated, don't see what the fuss is all about with this place by the locals. Stuck in the early 80's read more

I had a very bad experience here!! I ordered a chicken Mac and cheese dish and the Mac and cheese tasted like it had harsh chemicals in it as soon as I put it in my mouth! So gross I could not get the taste out my mouth!! Also slow service and sometimes when u walk in u wait forever for someone to notice your there to seat you. I went in one time with friends and we were seated and nobody came to the table for 45 mins to even ask what we wanted to drink or introduce themselves so we got up and left!! I do not like the way people are treated at Macado's!!!! read more

Very disappointed with this restaurant had lunch on 2/21/18. restaurant was not very busy but it took 35 minutes to get our food when it can out French Fries were cold and my wife's sandwich was not very fresh. Service was not the best. Have eaten at other Macado's and really enjoyed them this one was very different from. Will not go back to this one read more

Service was mediocre. The wings came out room temperature. The sandwich selection was AMAZING! The possibilities are endless and you can come back at least 40 times and have something new each time! The food really makes Macado's! Oh...did I mention that their happy hour daily specials are incredible too?! Apparently service does not matter when you've got awesome sandwiches and cheap cheap booze! read more

SLOW AS MOLASSES. Every aspect of our lunch took forever. Food was good but it took forever to get it. Server said that someone dropped our food so they had to remake it, which is obviously preferred but it just took so long to make 3 deli sandwiches. read more

I really did not like the food at all. Seems like everything was pulled from a freezer. The chicken wings were totally soggy, breaded and soft and gross. The celery that came with them was small and withered. The fish in the fish tacos seemed like they were pulled from a freezer, not fresh filets. read more

Nice place to hang out with friends or family. The food is tasty and they have reasonable prices.

Always a reliable sandwich place with good prices. Sports bar feel.

Great food, great prices, but most of all great drinks! Wonderful place to get a bite with some friends or to just come watch the game with the fellas. Strongly recommend this place. read more

Staff was great and the food matched it. Large portions for the money you spend. Also I didn't have to wait to sit down and get my grub. Very good and I recommend it if you are looking for a good deli sandwich and somewhere to chill. read more

Macado's is definitely my favorite restaurant in Roanoke and possibly my favorite restaurant ever. Great wings and cheap beer, which is enough to satisfy me, but there is literally something for everyone on their extensive menu. Their prices aren't too bad, either, especially if you take advantage of their daily specials. I have never had bad service here. Example: last time, I was concerned about eating wings with a bad cut I had on my index finger. I asked the waitress for a band-aid and not only did she bring me a few different kinds, she also brought me this finger condom thing so that nothing would get under the band-aid! I found that really sweet of her but also hilarious. Macado's is the kind of place where you are not judged for ordering a ridiculous amount of beer, or even two beers at once. I love it and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. read more

Used to be good-what happened?? Overall the place is filthy! You can smell the uncleanliness of the bar as soon as you walk in the door. The bar smells as though it as never seen a sip of clorox. Our table was dirty, yes it got a dirty rag swipe, seemed even dirtier. Food was not as stellar as I remember, same old tired menu. What I mostly mean by that , order some new menus . Those are nasty, as if they have never seen a clean up ever! The menu selection is fine, physical menu needs updating. Hire a decent cook. For having the same menu for the last 30 years, it seems it wouldn't be that hard to mess up a sandwich . Also , potato salad sucked" according to my dining companion. Either they clean it up, or stay as far away from the old favorite as possible. Yuck, yuck read more

RIDICULOUS!! Waited 45 minutes and walked out after speaking to a manager. They didn't really care that we had waited so long and still didn't have our food. Was so ready for a good dinner...DISAPPOINTED! read more

I really enjoyed eating lunch here! Our server was very sweet and on the ball with helping answering our several questions regarding the menu. However, upon first entering we stood at the door for just about 5 minutes before a host ever greeted us. Behind us a guy (whom stated he was a regular) said there's never a host at the door. So that was a bit off putting . But the food specials are great. Best drink specials I've seen around. They got my org food order wrong, so had to settle for a quick salad because we were in a hurry and couldn't wait for them to remake our food. But my other two people in party LOVED their food!!! I would go back because every kitchen makes a mistake, not the end of the world. And the drink specials are so good , it'd be worth it even if i didn't order food! read more

We've been going here for probably 20 years now. Always getting my favorite the BabeRuth. Haven't had a bad server or sandwich yet! Two babes and two sodas will run you about $18. Might be off a buck give or take. Can be busy around lunch and dinner though. read more

Love Macadoos! I love the Johnny Dee...it's my favorite. Quesadillas are good too. Great place to go with friends or family. If you have small kids and it's late don't sit in the bar area though...too loud. Every where else the seating is fine. read more

First visit, I order a hot pastrami on rye, an old favorite of mine. After the second bite I about lost it. The meat or should I say fat and gristle were disgusting. Needless to say I won't spend any more of my dinero here. When I told the waiter about it he said he's heard it before...... So why are they serving crap when they've been told. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe some of the other items are fine but honestly why would one even try after such an experience. Good luck if you go. read more

Saw this online so we gave it a try. When we walked in a few employees looked at us but did not seem interested in seating us. When they took us to a table we had to wait for it to be cleaned off. We just ordered appetizers because with my shellfish allergy I did not trust anything else on the menu. The salsa for the quesadilla was straight from a bottle. The service was poor at best. Whether you are passing thru or live there it is a place to avoid read more

Macado's is one of my favorite restaurants ever. I used to go to this location every Friday night when I was in high school and this is the one that I always enjoy going to. Well I went tonight around 7:45p and they were semi busy. It always looks like they are packed by the looks of the parking lot but when we got inside it wasn't busy at all. We were able to get a booth which our family of 4 prefer. We had a really nice waitress who got our order and all seemed great. The waitress came 2x to let us know the food was coming soon and apologized. My daughter grew tired of coloring and that's when we looked at the clock and saw it was 8:35. The waitress came back and said that the manager misread the ticket, my husband and I ordered the Johnny D which comes as grilled chicken, which I got and he wanted breaded chicken. She said that they didn't enter his as breaded and that's what was taking so long but brought out my daughters kids meal and fries which we wanted with the meal. About 10 minutes later still didn't have our food and we asked another waiter to get our waitress. Then our food popped around the corner. My husband asked for the check and 3 boxes because we had been waiting so long and the manager didn't even come about the misunderstanding. The waiter apologized and said they were busy and the fryers were down, which isn't what we were told. A man came to the table who didn't seem to be the manager. He was dressed more like the chef and didn't even provide his name. My husband told him that we were only paying for our daughters kids meal and the fries we asked to have with our meal and leaving the food because it was ridiculous to have to wait that long. He didn't even apologize he just said ok and took the to go boxes and left the table. The waitress apologized again and we told her it wasn't on her, we were just paying for the food we did get and he took the rest. read more

I'm kinda torn about this review... The first time we came on a Tuesday night we asked to sit in a booth with an electrical outlet so we could charge AND use our tablets (they do have a charging station ). We were seated in the front room and we had a great woman server. My daughter had a burger that was big, juicy and covered the large bun. I had a Philly cheesesteak that was also really good and my fries were crispy, browned, the way I liked them! Everything was exactly as ordered and the server split our shake, as ordered, with 2 glasses. Perfect...I love this place!! We came back 2 more times on the weekend with a guy server ( same one both times) and the burger was dry, did not cover the bun and the fries were barely done. We gave the waiter our order instructions and he just said our menu item names back to us and evidently forgot or disregarded the particulars ! My expensive "prime rib" sandwich had meat so tough in it...the big strips of meat were difficult to chew to the point where I had sinewy strings between my teeth attached to chunks and I thought I might choke. I had to extricate them by fingers, how embarrassing. When the waiter brought our " split" shake he had merely added another straw. I guess we'll go back on a Tuesday, ask to sit in the front room and hope that waitress is there ! If not, we will go home. . read more

Ordered a sandwich, told the bartender it wasn't right, she said yes it is, showed her I was right, she asked to take it back, I passed, got home only to taste my bread was not fresh, and tasted old. called there only to be met with a rude attitude by Caleb/manager was told to bring the food back, the time was 11:00pm an it was snowing out... Lol.... won't be going back anytime soon gonna call the general manager one day named JEN hope to get treated better read more

I know I'm biased, I do work there. But Macados is the best restaurant in Roanoke, (just aske the Roanoker) Where else can you get the kind value, food, drink specials, service, and atmosphere. Great group of guys and gals and a great location all adds up to perfect. read more

I am done with this Macado's location. I like the restaurant well enough but the service at this particular Macado's is so slow it is unbelievable. It has never taken less than 45 minutes to get food which is unacceptable considering how few people were in the restaurant when I visited and the simple menu. Tonight I ordered carry out. Two Diablo Quesadillas to bring home, how long can it take to make a quesadilla? I was told it would take 15 minutes. Now, I know how slow this place is so I gave them 20 before I showed up. There was no one at the front greeting table for the first 5 minutes I was standing there. When someone finally showed up they told me it would be a couple minutes before my food was ready. So now we are up to 25 on my wait time when I was told 15. So I sat... and waited. I'm sure I was beginning to look frustrated when a manager (?) walked by and said, "Oh are you still waiting? Let me see what I can do." This was 20 minutes later. So once again I waited 45 minutes for something ridiculously easy to put together. I could drive to the Downtown Roanoke location and back home in less time. Never again. read more

This place is an absolute joke now. Consistently under staffed, people waiting for almost 2 hours. Outdated decor from 2001, staff has gone way down hill. They are unable to handle normal sat night traffic read more

Every time I eat here I get sick... The boneless wings were so hard to bite into. Most servers there are horribly inattentive and spend most their time in the kitchen. Fries are re dropped and takes over 30 min for your food even if there's no one there. They have raised their prices and changed their menu so many times but are using cheaper less quality products. This place is only good for drinking and drunk munchies read more

Macado's is the place I miss the most after moving out of Roanoke. I always got something different and it was always really good. I love the potato salad, although it does taste different every time I get it. It's a great place to grab a drink too. Most of the staff is friendly. The only problems I've had is that when you first walk in, there is rarely ever someone standing there to seat you, so you have to wait for the right person to notice you. And I once had to wait entirely too long for my food when the place was at its slowest...but that's okay, things happen. They have great specials throughout the week. I recommend the black bean queso for an app, or the irish nachos. The sandwiches are my favorite, and just the way I like them...thinly sliced and piled high! The decor is awfully cheesy, but so are most places in Roanoke. If you haven't been, you MUST go! read more

I am a big fan of "bar food" and I was led to believe that Macado's had some of the best! Wrong! For lunch, we ordered a basket of French fries after reading the Roanoke paper touting Macado's as having the "best fries in the city!" Wrong! They tasted like cold Ore Ida fries. We also ordered a basket of chicken wings...heavily battered and dry with horrible tasting barbecue sauce...I've never left wings on a plate! And, I ate the worse shrimp tacos of my life...heavily battered...couldn't find the shrimp...cold and stale soft taco shell with slice of avocado and bad wasabi sauce! Left also on my plate! Will never return! read more

I will give Macados 4 stars for food/meals. They have a lot of choices and good choices for kids. However, I will have to give them 0-1 star for customer service. Our family usually goes there 2 times a year and each time we are greatly disappointed in service. The last time we went there, our server, Enrique, showed up 9 minutes after we were seated and took our drinks order. I think 9 minutes is excessive to wait to place an order for drinks. It was only three of us after all. We also placed our meal order at that time. He got the order completely wrong for my son which leads me to believe he was not listening AT ALL. The other meals were fine. It took us 49 minutes to get our food. What?!?! When you have a 3 year old, that is too much time. I honestly believe he forgot to put in our order. I don't think I will be going back. read more

This is for the macados on electric road across from tanglewood. If I could go lower than one star I would! Soon as I walked in I was assaulted with a dirty dish mop smell. The no personality waitress tried to put my family of FOUR at a two seater table IN A CORNER that had the mounding ripped off the edge. My kid could have gotten a splinter or something. Also it was not even close to busy so I don't understand why we were seated here. I would have been embarrassed to seat someone there. So I moved us to the next table over (a four seater table). The table was clean according to my husband but I have small children and wanted to make sure (because I think the stuff most restaurants clean the table with is gross). I used up FOUR baby wipes wiping down the disgusting table. The baby wipes were BLACK by the time I got done. The waitress came back over and looked down at them and wouldn't even touch them. I explained to her that "yes gross huh? That came off the table!" She didn't say a word. And didn't even say oh yea that is gross let me go back to the back and grab something to clean it for you. Nope nothing came out of her mouth. She actually looked put out. Poor thing. So I was thoroughly disgusted. But my husband really wanted to try the wings. Well the food went down fine. Tasted good. But we had to rush home because the entire family felt sick on the way home. All I can say is thank goodness we have four toilets!! Would never ever go back or eat the food. Even if it was free and brought to me on a silver platter. Oh and the bathroom counter there looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the place opened. After my family got home (and after we all felt better) I made the entire family shower. Gross !!!! And the staff = needs personality training. I never leave reviews but felt the need to leave this one. Yuck!!!!!!!! read more
