And Brambleton Deli in Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. So today, I decided to have dinner here and try it out. Arriving a little before six, their front parking lot was already full. Luckily the parking lot continues around the side.of their building and into the back where it turns into an even larger parking lot. After parking my car in a safe spot, I walked to the front of the restaurant and entered through the front door after passing by their outdoor dining patio. There was already a long line of customers waiting to be seated. But with patience the friendly hostess got to me and brought me to one of the booths of the place. My friendly server Kelty soon arrived to greet me and take my order. To drink I ordered a Sweet Ice Tea. As an appetizer I wanted to have their Mini Corn Dogs but they were so many for one person that the server suggested I have the Kids Mini Corn Dog as appetizer and I did. For my main course I had their Pork Barbecue Platter, with Pit Cooked Pork, Cole Slaw and Onion Rings as side items. The 6 mini corn dogs were delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, and having them made the wait shorter. The BBQ sauce came on the side. While the food was cooking my server came by to check on.me and give me a refill of Sweet Ice Tea. I asked her about where the bar was and she told me on the other side.of the restaurant and that some nights they have live music there. I figured if it was so crowded today on those nights it must really be crowded. By this time the food was ready and brought to my booth. The Pork was fresh and juicy, and after I spread the BBQ sauce over it, it was even better, the Onion Rings and Cole Slaw were also very good. And the Reese's Peanut Butter Pie was outstanding. After I paid the bill, I went for a walk to see the bar and the area where they play live music some nights. On the other side of the restaurant and next to the bar, this other dining area is more elegant and stylist in part for the quality of the furniture and lighting treatment. Can't wait to come again some night with a group of friends to listen to the live music. I definitely recommend this place as somewhere to go and spend some quality time in a relaxed environment, with good food at reasonable prices and to top it off live entertainment.

However, one of the best features of their app is that you can join the wait list through the app and once you get to the restaurant, you'll already be closer to the top of the line. Today I got there at 3:20PM for a late lunch, early dinner, so there was no wait. As soon as I arrived a young, friendly gentleman took me to a table. There, it didn't take long for my server to arrive, greet me, and take my order. I ordered a lemonade to drink and one of my favorite dishes on the menu, the Filet Medallions, cooked medium-rare, to eat. This dish consists of three tender filets (9 oz.total) topped with their Portobello Mushroom sauce and served over season rice, with two sides. For sides I had a cup of their Chili and a House Salad with blue cheese dressing. I requested that the Chili and salad be served first, before my main entrée. As I waited, I enjoyed drinking my iced cold lemonade and eating their famous yeast rolls with their signature Cinnamon Honey Butter, which is a sweet whipped spread made from butter, powder sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Served freshly made, these rolls are a delight. The chili was delicious, served with chopped onion and graded cheese. The House Salad with blue cheese dressing was also very fresh and delicious. Shortly afterwards, but before I had finished my salad, the main entre arrived. Timing is very important in bringing out your order, but here they seem not to pay attention to this because the table next to mind also had their salad and main entrée out at the same time. My server noticed when I had finished my lemonade and brought me a refill in another glass. When the main entrée arrived, it looked and tasted delicious, however their season rice was over seasoned and for this reason tasted very salty and didn't allow the flavor of the Portobello Mushroom sauce to stand out. I didn't order dessert because I was planning on having it later at Blue Cow Creamery. Overall, if it were not for the very salty overseasoned rice, and the serving of the main entrée too soon, it would have been a perfect dining experience. I hope the manager of the restaurant reads this review and takes action to correct this, because it is the little things like this that make the big difference in the enjoyment of a meal.

The dark color painted walls and black ceiling give the place a cozy feeling and the open well lit space provides a comfi atmosphere in which to enjoy a comfortable meal with friends and family. I arrived there with a friend on a Tuesday, the day after we were hit with a snow fall and icy weather. It was hard to find parking. We finally drove around and found a two hour parking space in front of the sidewalk that led to the place. The sidewalk however was full of ice and snow, and I couldn't imagine how in a City like Salem it had not been cleared up either by the merchants located there or by the City. We had to be very careful walking towards the restaurant on a sidewalk in this condition. When we left, we also had a hard time pulling out of the parking space because of the ice and snow under the car. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to one of the booths in the back area of the restaurant and provided with a copy of its two page menu. Both of us ordered iced water to drink and the Joe Gibbs Burger accompanied by a huge load of thin fries to eat. I also had a side of coleslaw. This burger had the Tennessee Bourbon sauce, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato & mayo. It was very fresh and juicy and the thin cut fries were amazingly delicious and plentiful. When we were finished and asked for the dessert menu our server told us that they didn't have dessert. I could not believe this and wondered if she was about to get off duty and wanted us to just pay so she could go home. So I inquired how come how could a place like this with a comfortable ambiance and great food didn't have any desserts. She then told us that they usually had one dessert a month, but the January dessert had not yet arrived. This was hard to believe but we paid and took off. I hope that when management reads this review they take action to fix this depending on what the real truth was and to train the servers on how to handle situations like this one. Overall I loved the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was amazingly good. If they would just fix the dessert issue I would definitely recommend this place and enjoy coming back again.

Not to mention their very dedicated staff who prepare the delicious food, service the customers by bringing them coffee or by refilling their cups with coffee and glasses with soft drinks, and by removing their empty plates to make room for some others with more freshly made food. But no matter how good and popular a restaurant may be, if it loses focus of the little things that make a big difference, it will not survive, and this is why requesting feedback is good, and following through on the feedback received is even better. I used to faithfully enjoy my weekend breakfasts at this establishment until one day when I was in a hurry to be somewhere at a certain time, I arrived early in the morning with the idea of having a freshly made omelet and after standing at the omelet station for a while with no luck, and asking who I thought was the manager for help locating the omelet cook, received a lukewarm answer. I gave up and went to get some scrambled eggs and bacon instead and found the eggs to be cold and the bacon to be soggy and not crunchy. And to top it off my server dumped the remaining amount of coffee of a coffee pot in a cup and brought this lukewarm coffee over to me. I was so disappointed that at the end of the day when I got home and had some time, I visited the feedback website listed on their receipt slip, and truthfully gave an account of what had happened and how disappointed I was. So much so, that I stopped going. For months I didn't return. Then today, in the middle of the Holiday Season, I decided to return, and once again try it out to see if some change had taken place. And what I saw was amazing. They had a new manager, dressed in uniform with a name tag on, walking around the front area of the restaurant, and making herself available for customers. I greeted her and ask for the omelet cook because I wanted to have an omelet made. She told me he was at the desert station helping them out and would come as soon as he notices that he was needed. I walk that way and as soon as he saw I needed him to make me an omelet, he immediately came my way and started preparing my omelet. It came out so perfect, that as he was walking away, I called him back and told him I had a holiday bonus I wanted to give him for his excellent service throughout the year. At that moment, you could tell by his watery eyes that he appreciated the gesture enmensely. And that he clearly understood the meaning of constructive criticism through example, and was graceful for it. Afterwards, I went to get some bacon to have with my omelet; and it was once again, crispy and hot, like bacon is supposed to be. This restaurant is on track again and has retained me as one of their best customers.
