Our waitress was very attentive and kept our drinks full. For a fast food place the noise level is really low, even when it was crowded. There was a snafu in the kitchen and half the order came out wrong and part of the order was missing but they fixed it right away. I chalk it up to being newly open and they are still working the kinks out. All in all the food was good and the service was excellent. I go back just to try other menu items. Their pizzas look good.

Wing Etc. is a decent addition to the Salem, VA restaurant scene. As to be expected, the atmosphere has a comfortable sports-bar vibe to it. The waitstaff are excellent and attentive. The chicken, boneless and traditional, is nothing out of this world, but still good and the sauces are superb. My favorite sauce is the spicy TNT sauce. The prices could be lower, but what these days isn't overpriced? I'll definitely revisit to try other options in the future.

When I first heard that Wings, Etc. had just opened it's doors in Salem, Virginia, I didn't think much of it, after all I had just dined at and reviewed the new Buffalo Wild Wings at Valley View's prior T.G.I. Friday's totally renovated location and loved it. But it being Chicken Month and after reviewing their website, I was fascinated with their menu and beautiful restaurant design and decided that I really had to go there and see for myself what this business that opened its first restaurant in here in Salem, Virginia, was all about. After being awarded the Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Wings, Etc. Bar & Grill in Salem, Virginia, is a perfect example. I heard that the place where this new restaurant had opened used to be a run down Mexican restaurant, that had moved and afterwards the place had been totally cleaned and renovated. It's amazing how sometimes change is for the better, and after one door closes behind you a new wiindow of opportunity lies ahead. The closing and move of the other restaurant made way for this one to arrive, fixing up the place, and making it look more than just presentable, but desirable. While the Mexican restaurant that moved is also doing better in its other location, this one seems to already be attracting new clientele. When I arrived for dinner at around six-thirty in the evening, the place was already packed with customers. It's no wonder because its beautiful architectural design couldn't help but attract your attention and once inside the very unique ambiance and menu variety made you feel right at home. I was greated by a friendly young lady at the Host's station, told that there would be a wait, and they took my name. I didn't mind because while I waited I went around and took many of the photographs and video clips which I'm sharing with you in this review. When a space on a waiting bench became available I sat down next to this friendly couple retired from the Navy who after establishing conversation, immediately connected and invited me to join them at their dining table when we were called to be seated. We sat down and after reviewing the extensive menu, made our other. They ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos as appetizer, while I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp. For our main entrée I ordered the Boneless Wings, while the husband ordered the Traditional Wings and the wife the Cauliflower Wings. And we all ordered a glass of Iced Lemonade to drink. The food arrived to our table in a reasonable time. There were so many large screen TVs that we talked and watched the football games on TV. Everything was cooked to perfection and our server did an excellent job bringing us refills. I totally recommend this restaurant and am looking forward to returning to try out several other items in the menu that caught my eye.

It is decorated with a huge number of framed sports memorabilia tightly filling all its walls, as well as with many large screen TVs in front of a long bar located on the left side of the restaurant as you go in. The dark color painted walls and black ceiling give the place a cozy feeling and the open well lit space provides a comfi atmosphere in which to enjoy a comfortable meal with friends and family. I arrived there with a friend on a Tuesday, the day after we were hit with a snow fall and icy weather. It was hard to find parking. We finally drove around and found a two hour parking space in front of the sidewalk that led to the place. The sidewalk however was full of ice and snow, and I couldn't imagine how in a City like Salem it had not been cleared up either by the merchants located there or by the City. We had to be very careful walking towards the restaurant on a sidewalk in this condition. When we left, we also had a hard time pulling out of the parking space because of the ice and snow under the car. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to one of the booths in the back area of the restaurant and provided with a copy of its two page menu. Both of us ordered iced water to drink and the Joe Gibbs Burger accompanied by a huge load of thin fries to eat. I also had a side of coleslaw. This burger had the Tennessee Bourbon sauce, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato & mayo. It was very fresh and juicy and the thin cut fries were amazingly delicious and plentiful. When we were finished and asked for the dessert menu our server told us that they didn't have dessert. I could not believe this and wondered if she was about to get off duty and wanted us to just pay so she could go home. So I inquired how come how could a place like this with a comfortable ambiance and great food didn't have any desserts. She then told us that they usually had one dessert a month, but the January dessert had not yet arrived. This was hard to believe but we paid and took off. I hope that when management reads this review they take action to fix this depending on what the real truth was and to train the servers on how to handle situations like this one. Overall I loved the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was amazingly good. If they would just fix the dessert issue I would definitely recommend this place and enjoy coming back again.

And Zico's Restaurant in Salem, Virginia, is the perfect example. Zico's is conveniently located in the corner of 4th Street and Roanoke Blvd in Salem, Virginia. Immediately after hearing of the change, and attracted by its new name and logo, I drove to this location to experience first hand Zico's cuisine. The restaurant has a nice size parking lot right in front of it. Its owner and chef, Zico is a native Egyptian, with a warm and friendly personality, who specializes in authentic Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Italian cuisines, as well as Pizzas. As I entered its door he was the first one to give me a warm greeting and welcome me to his restaurant. It had one red brick wall, imitation hardwood floors, simple ceiling lamps, and a very interesting movable large TV screen with a beautiful outdoor Cafe scene. The background music perfectly complements the relaxing and cozy environment. In the main dining room it has very elegant and comfortable booths all around, and in a separate banquet room it has tables and chairs all lined up. The menu has an excellent variety of items representing the different cuisines. I ordered a Beef Shawarma Platter that came with a salad and Pita Bread with a special in house salad dressing and cream for the Pita Bread. The salad was so fresh and moist that it was a pleasure eating it. The Beef Shawarma was cooked with a special sauce made with cooked onions, green and red peppers, and some seasons that gave it an amazing flavor, one only equivalent to high-end restaurants with sofisticated and award winning chefs. The rice was also a good quality rice with wonderful flavor. I enjoyed the food so much that till the last grain of rice and savored evey minute of it. For dessert I ordered their only in-house made dessert, the Tiramisu. It was amazingly delicious. Like no other that I ever had. What an extraordinary dining experience. I have dined in the best restaurants and yet this restaurant's cuisine is exceptionally outstanding to the point of exceeding even the highest expectations. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to returning to try it's Italian and Greek cuisines.

And El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant in Salem, Virginia, is the perfect example. As soon as I arrived, I liked and admired the exterior architectural design of their building, with a covered outdoor dining area patio. Once inside, the Host greeted me from behind the Host's station and took me to one of the booths, providing me with a beautifully designed colorful menu with color photographs of some of their main items. Not long after, I was brought chips and salsa to my table and my server Daniela came by to greet me and give me a warm welcome. She then proceeded to take my drink order. After I inquired about their non-alcoholic drinks, she recommended one which was so good that I ended up having two. To drink I had a non-alcoholic Mangonada, a Frozen Mango Margarita Mocktail that tasted as good as it looked. For my main course I ordered the Burrito California, a gigantic pork burrito covered with cheese, pico de gallo, and slices of avocado on top. It was so amazingly delicious that I can't believe I ate the whole thing. The small pieces of roast pork were well marinated and slow cooked to bring out its flavor. My compliments to the Chef of this restaurant, for I have had this dish before in other restaurant and none had tasted as good as this one. Their Chip and Salsa were so also so good that I continued to enjoy them while eating the burrito. My sever Daniela came by to check on me at the appropriate times, yet she forgot to offer me a glass of water, and with the excitement of the meal and Mango drink, I didn't request one. It was amazing how fast the restaurant got full of customers. Even though the wooden chairs were comfortable, when the customers moved them around they made a loud and annoying sound as the wood scraped over the floor. I would recommend they place on the bottom of the chair legs some chair pads to prevent this uncomfortable noise from happening. For dessert I had the Churro Cup Sunday. The churros which made up the cup were crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside providing an amazing combination to the ice-cream and toppings. I could see the manager from where I was seated and although I was disappointed of his lack of detail by not visiting my table to say hello on this my first visit to his restaurant, as I was leaving I approached him to thank him for such an extraordinary dining experience. I highly recommend this Mexican Restaurant and am looking forward to returning soon to have some other items I saw in the menu.
