We placed a to go order late at night and not only was the order correct, the service was great and the food was fantastic. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return when we're in town again. Mona Lisa & quesadilla. Both were great. read more

I spend a great deal of time and money at the Bbg Macados. Food is great! Love the bar area...service in the table areas is crummy. The bartenders are extremely friendly, attentive, and conversational. The bourbon selection is weak...just weak! How can you make a Ky Mule without ginger beer? I'm sure your liquor rep has all the numbers, but better selection would have to increase your customer experience. read more

Great menu, fun atmosphere, quick service. The length of the menu, makes you want to come back and try more

Owner/Manager: Update your service and physical space! I have lived in Bburg for over 30 years, ever since Macado's was, initially, beside Kroger. My family has eaten here many times over the years. Tonight was a TERRIBLE experience. To start, we ( 3 adults and a teen) were seated upstairs next to an outrageously loud, large group when there were many booths open away from them. Nearly 15 minutes later the server came by. We put our order in right then. We got our appetizer about 15 minutes later. THIRTY minutes after that 3 of our meals arrived. I had ordered no tomato on my sandwich. The server saw that once she sat it on the table. That was returned and our server said it would be returned quickly; and the one hamburger would arrive soon. The hamburger arrived about 10 minutes later cooked medium rare. It was suppose to be medium well. 15 minutes later my sandwich arrived for a second time. Finally! Everyone was exasperated by this time. We received extra fries that weren't ordered and never received the coleslaw. Our server said the reason that we received our meals so late was because of a large group that were seated on the first floor. I walked over to look at the first floor. The largest party on the floor below me was 12. The second reason we were given blamed the kitchen for all mistakes. I don't think the server was blameless. Her forgetfulness was obvious. We did complain to her. She did give a manager comp for 20 %. We should have been happy with that, but it was not nearly the comp we deserved. I hope the owner and manager read this review. The food was basically good(except the under cooked hamburger). If this poor service isn't changed, Macado's is not going to frequented. In addition, the physical space needs a much needed renovation. The upstairs women's bathroom was fairly clean, but the floors were dirty as in an old, over worn floor. The grout around the sink was growing plenty of black mold. It was gross. Maybe Macado's is okay with this decline. Blacksburg deserves better. I hope Macado's will care enough about their customers and their reputation to remedy these serious problems. read more

If you want to sit, and sit, and sit some more, without ever getting greeted, water, or having your order taken - THIS IS THE PLACE!

Long wait times and terrible service. It took 15 minutes to be seated and after being seated, our party waited at least an hour to get appetizers. And when the entrees did arrive, over an hour and a half since being seated, they were not correct. We spoke to the manager on duty and they acted like they didn't care. We asked to speak to the regional manager and were given their phone number. They did not respond to our phone message either. Will not return to this restaurant. read more

The chicken salad my wife had was good; but after asking them to turn off the air conditioning on a 55* day 5 times, we left & only got to watch the first quarter of the VT v Miami game. We won't be going back! Buffalo Wild Wings was a much more pleasant atmosphere and the food is always good! Macado's read more

Food is okay. Service is extremely slow even when they are not busy. I would suggest a new system in the kitchen. I should not have to wait 25 minutes at the store for a call in order that was just a burger. read more

This chain never fails to be terrible. Every location every time. This time it's Blacksburg. No one in charge and no food after 50 minutes.

Food was pretty good. Generous portion size. Decorations were fun. Service was attentive. Food took a little long to come out.

Good place with a fun casual atmosphere. Tons of sandwiches to choose from and all reasonably priced. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Ps it is also a little bit further from the crowded downtown, so it's a little more relaxed and unrushed. read more

For the people who don't like long reviews- this place has great food, great vibes and amazing service. Now for in-depth: The restaurant has a very comfy/calm feel to it. When you walk in, the decor might throw you off. Its very unique and spunky. (the second floor has a car!!) They have TVS so if you want to watch a game, this would be the place for it. Now, the food is amazing. I ordered the wild bill burger . It ran under 10 dollars and even came with fries and a pickle!! The burger itself was bigger than my face!! And, its extremely delicious. The burger was sweet yet salty and the meat can be cooked to preference. Inside there's bacon, an onion ring, lettuce, sauce and cheese. As an appetizer, we ordered the nacho Grande. Even sharing it, all the food was way too much to eat and we took majority of it home. It has cheese, chili, olives, jalapenos, tomatoes, salsa, onion dip and lettuce. The people here are great as well. My server, Sydney, made sure our drinks never got low and was extremely attentive. She was sweet and also made sure that our food was to our liking. With the great vibes and food that comes from here, I will definitely be going again!! read more

Macado's - Nacho Grande (Less than 10 dollars) - Chicken Wings Near Me - Blacksburg, Virginia

If you like sandwiches -- and who doesn't? -- it's hard to go wrong here. There are 40 on the menu, along with probably the best, most generous portion of nachos in Blacksburg, though The Cellar's are right up there. You can make any kind of bread substitution you want (or even pick your own ingredients, period, to make your own sandwich) -- which is good for those of us who think it's almost impossible to find a good bagel south of the Mason-Dixon Line. There are way more options than a place like Subway or Jimmy John's (corned beef, Canadian bacon, rye bread), but the prices are similar. Went in there today, split nachos with a friend and ordered a sandwich. The damage: $14, including tip, and an insanely full stomach. It's worth sitting in the bar area since you almost never have to wait for a table, can easily see the five or so flat-screen TVs and will be able to get a bowl of Goldfish from the bar, no problem, by asking your waiter. One bit of advice: If your sandwich comes with cole slaw in addition to another kind of dressing, have them hold the slaw. It makes the bread too soggy. Oh, and yes, the interior looks like it was decorated by someone on an acid bender -- some framed '80s T-shirts here, an animal head there, and a couple old newspaper stories about Virginia Tech sports that are fun to read. Nothing fancy at Macado's. Just a menu that would make the Earl of Sandwich himself proud. And a cartoon of a dude with a handlebar mustache and a monocle as the logo, thrown in for good measure. read more

Food is okay, and that's about it for positives. The service is super slow every time, no matter who you get. However, the worst thing about this place is the decor. It's not just that's it's ugly, it's that it's so dirty! They have so much decor that they can't clean it! There's like dust everywhere and things just feel gross everywhere! Feeling dirty in the place where you want to enjoy your food is not a pleasant thing. read more

I don't live in Blacksburg, so I suppose I bring a much different perspective to the mix here. I wasn't going to review this place until I noticed that the reviews here are actually favorable. So, I have been left with no choice. First of all, the place is filthy. The walls, the floors, the ledges, the tables, the menus - everything right down to the mysterious once-wet-but-now-dry stains on the sugar packets - it's gross. Second of all, the service; while EXTREMELY PLEASANT seems incredibly absent-minded. You can forgive them for it only because they are all so nice and polite. But you will wait for things like a fork, a refill, to have dirty plates removed, for your check...you get the idea. Lastly and probably the most important - the food is terrible. Terrible. I ordered off of their "build your own sandwich" menu. Simple order: chicken salad, tomato, swiss, croissant. What I received: chicken salad that tasted more like pickles and mayo than of chicken, rock hard tomatoes, a mountain of mayo; all piled on top of soggy, tough croissant-SHAPED bread. It was not a croissant. It was a week old biscuit that had been formed into the shape of something that could possibly remind you of a croissant. The decor is dated. The concept is old and cheesy. The food is awful. The place needs a bath and facelift. Avoid. Unless you're drunk. You won't care anymore. read more

All right, so it's been about a week since I actually visited Macado's. I've been here several times and I have to say I like it here. I also want to add that it's pronounced Mack-a-doo's. If you're out of town and want to pronounce it differently, then you're wrong. The decor is fun, they have a ton of sandwiches and the atmosphere is also good. I would like to come at night and see what's up with their drinks! I ordered their take on fajitas. The first difference is that it's fajita ingredients (steak or chicken) with vegetables piled on top of naan! It's very different and you do need to eat it with knife and fork, but the flavors were ok for fajita. This isn't a Mexican restaurant so I'm not expecting it to taste as such. I'm just going to break it down. The food: It was fine. The hardest part is picking a sandwich to eat! There are SO many options! The value: You can eat here for less than ten dollars with a drink. The experience: It's a lot of fun! The decor is kitschy and I really think they would be a good place to get drinks. Would I return?: I would! 4 stars?: Hmmm, I'm going to say 3.75, but because they are consistent I think they get 4 stars. I'd recommend staying with a sandwich, rather than the fajita. Unless you have a completely open mind on your Mexican food, you might be disappointed by theirs. Their other sandwiches are great though! read more

List of things that are far better in Virginia than California: 1. Barbecue, 2. Sandwiches, 3. College Football fans. Fortunately you can find two out of three of those at Macado's. I came during a quiet evening and I understand it get's pretty crazy during the Virginia Tech games. It already looks like a great place to grab a beer and yell over the Hokie game with a bunch of fans. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the amazing decor all around the ceiling and walls, they have some pretty cool things like the front clip of a 60's mustang and '57ish Chevy. They also have Marilyn Monroe's skirt blowing in the wind, Charlie Chaplin and a whole bunch of other neat things. The waitress was kind and friendly; the service was remarkable. I could imagine it gets a bit crazy during big games, but for my sit down dining experience with my aunt and uncle the service was impeccable. Their sandwiches are amazing! I had the Bronx Bomber which had some magnificently meshing contents that went really well together. The leanness of the turkey went really well with the corned beef and to top it all off they served it on rye bread which added a really nice sort of sour contrasting flavor to the sweeter corned beef. Their fruit salad was fresh and the onion rings we're very big and cooked just right into crispy goodness. Come here for a game and some brews or just to grab a quick sandwich, their service is satisfying, the atmosphere is lively, their prices are reasonable and most of all their food is good! read more

This was the second time trying Macado's. The appetizers took an hour to come out and were cold as if they were sitting in the kitchen. But that wasn't even the worst part the three burgers that were ordered came out not even cooked. They brought them out after an hour and a half and the burgers where still mooing. Not to mention the fries were cold to. Really disappointed in the food. read more

good food but waaay overpriced for what it is. two tacos and fries are almost $10, most sandwiches are $9-$11, and I believe burgers are also $10+. they're good if you get the daily specials (especially boneless wings), but I almost never pay full price for their food because it's just too expensive for the kind of food that it is (casual dining). lots of wing flavors, my favorite is the honey bbq! the kc's chicken mac and cheese is really good too, but $9 for mac and cheese is a lot. there is a normal mac and cheese that is $5 and it's the same size as the other but with no broccoli or chicken. good food but pricy. read more

Good salsa con queso and black bean queso. Monstrous and cheap beers. Somehow Macado's has become the quintessential Blacksburg/VT experience but it's nothing great. I enjoy their foccaccia based sandwiches, like the Tom & Jerry, but everything else is just some variation of a deli meat (or two) on a variation of bread or roll. People get excited about "half off hindy's" (short for half priced Hindenberg, i.e. big, crappy sandwich) but I think that's just because "half off hindy" is fun to say. I get very tired of having to decode the silly names associated with all the sandwiches. If I want pastrami and swiss on rye, I should be able to order precisely that instead of reading about each cartoony name to find which one represents my simple sandwich. read more

I went here today with my sister and mother. They both ordered croissant grilled cheese sandwiches. After a long wait, for three sandwiches, the two croissant "grilled" cheeses were ICE COLD. 2 slices of unmelted American cheese with a single slice of tomato in between. Even the croissant was ice cold. We sent them back to the kitchen, and the SAME EXACT two sandwiches were returned to the table, 5 minutes later, bite taken out and all. The kitchen couldn't even be bothered to make two fresh sandwiches, the right way. At this point the fries with them were totally ice cold as well. Defeated and over the experience, we paid and left... $50 for 2 ice cold "grilled" cheese sandwiches and a chicken salad sandwich. read more

I've come to Macado's many times, often for special deals like 39 cent wings, happy hour, and pint nights; service was average to pretty good, I've never had a bad experience until today. I came with a friend for boneless wings, we waited about 15 minutes before being seated. Once we got seated, we were told that they would get a waiter to us soon...but no one ever came. We waited for 20 minutes and no one came to us at all, they probably didn't even know we were seated. We grabbed the menus and returned them to a cashier up front, telling her no one came to us at all and all she said was, "oh, okay" and looked away. Service was terrible that day, and we ended up at Mellow Mushroom where we got half-priced sangria, free appetizers, good pizza, and were taken care of. Kinda sad, I really like Macado's but that was sucky. Maybe they were over staffed. In terms of ambiance/decor/atmosphere, it's a unique place; they have an eclectic collection of decor, with a full-size car on the second floor, a huge dinosaur, and framed everywhere. There's also TVs positioned throughout the restaurant as well as a projection on the wall of tv programming, so it's pretty good for watching sports. I'd say this place is good for families, a casual bite to eat, and for large parties. Food-wise, it's average. The menu is extensive, with their specialty being sandwiches; their wings are good, too. I love the Thai wings (contains peanuts) and spinach artichoke dip, not a fan of their nachos. Overall, I liked this place but after my most recent visit, I don't think I'll come back for a while. read more

Macado's - View from upstairs! - Chicken Wings Near Me - Blacksburg, Virginia

Worst restaurant I have ever been in my life! First the drinks came after 1 hour(!), it's unbelievable to wait whole entire hour till you get waters and beers. Then the food came after hour and a half, everything was wrong! I said salad without chicken and grilled shrimp instead then they brought me a salad with chicken salad in it and fried shrimps! Are they crazy??? They messed up others menu as well, for instance one asked for blue cheese dressing and it kept not coming. Also in the menu they said grilled teriyaki chicken taco then they give breaded chicken with teriyaki sauce with it ?!?!? They don't even know their menu well enough to know what has what in it!!! This place should definitely shut down! Worst buisness ever! The supposed-pleasant dinner out turned into restaurant nightmare!!!!!! read more

I go here for the wide selection of sandwiches. there's always something that will fix your craving. This is a great place to go with groups, large and small. I take my sons here periodically. Decent ambiance for a family restaurant. I'd advise, however, not ordering anything that comes with their nacho chips, whether as an appetizer or with a meal. It has a unique atmosphere with all the crazy decorations and the food is pretty good. The menu consists primarily of sandwiches but they have other things like wings, pastas, and salads. The best day to go is on Mondays when they have their wings and half price Hindy nights. It's great for 2 to 4 people. I would go with my husband and order 20 teriyaki wings and a Hindy, then take half the sandwich home for later. Otherwise I'd recommend the Brooklyn Bridge if you're a meat lover. Overall good food, good service and fun atmosphere. read more

This is like the full-blown, sit-down/franchised version of Sycamore Deli. It's huge and has all sorts of tacky, eclectic decorations hanging from the walls and ceiling, including a large Superman. The menu can be overwhelming with so many sandwiches to choose from, including the Hindenburg - a huge sandwich served on an entire loaf of french bread. I forget which day it is, but once a week there is a special for half-priced Hindy's - a bargain for college kids. They also have cheap Natty Lite around the clock, including a $5 pitcher, I believe it was. Low quality beer, but in large quantity. The schooner is a nice touch, too. Personal favorites: the Bobagger, the Carpetbagger, the Hindenburg, and the... whatever the name of the French Dip is. read more

A college town sandwich place that has a unique interior. They menu is vast with all kinds of sandwiches. Caution for the hungry people - The meat on the sandwiches has been steadily declining for years...either that or I'm getting bigger (Oh! maybe both :-)) There have been times when I've ordered double meat on the sandwich just so I wouldn't leave hungry. The Hindy is the biggest sandwich but watch out for the Monday 1/2 price sale on it. They charge you half because they cut the amount of meat on the sandwich by half. Order yourself some extra onion dip with you sandwich to take care of some of the chips! read more

Fantastic service and sandwiches. I've been here multiple times and never had a bad experience. The servers are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The food is fantastic. What more needs to be said? Genuinely don't understand the low reviews - this is a nice place to go, and affordable for a group of college kids! I've been twice so far, and both times the interior was interesting - it's a lot like being in an old house, with antique things hanging everywhere, from a King Kong, people stuck on bikes, tshirts, and newspaper clippings. It's a very cool place, and their music selection is good as well. The first time I went, my server was incredibly attentive - after noticing we were still looking at the menu, he didn't ask if we were ready, but rather waited until we closed up the menus and looked ready to order. He refilled our waters without us calling for him, and even brought along takeout boxes with our receipt. When he came back with the receipt again, he brought a bag for our takeout boxes. All without us asking! The second time, the service was good, but definitely not as good. The beauty of this place is the size of its menu - it serves mostly sandwiches, but there is pasta and other choices as well if you're really interested. The first time I ordered the Titanic sandwich, and the second time I made my own sandwich. Both times, the bread was soft (even with the French bread, which is usually crunchy and hurts my teeth with its goodness) but crunchy, the meat generously given, and the cheese melted to perfection. Yum! If you order their sandwiches, they come with a side, and if you make your own sandwich, they come with chips. The servings are more than generous - only half of the sandwich feels like a meal in itself. Both times I've been there, I saved half my sandwich after being full, and had a very good dinner that night! I also ordered an appetizer to share with my friends - we chose the spinach-archichoke dip with pita bread, which was really good. Spindip is usually my appetizer of choice to "assess" a place, and this one was very good. The bread to dip ratio was perfect both times, and the dip itself was very good - not too cheesy, or purely spinach. I'll try to give more appetizers more tries my next time here! This is definitely a nice place for a college town - check out the discounts for the day (they have one for every day). Also, give the shakes a try! I had the Oreo milkshake, and it was a delicious way to end a meal. read more
