Usually this is a good place to eat. Not busy at all today and service was horrible. Drinks empty for 30 min, hour to get food, some food cold. Manager appeared to care less and said he was cooking. This was a great place in the 1980s. They offer a more interesting selection of sandwiches than a lot of local places. My experiences since they moved "across the road" have not been so good. Service is passable to very slow. The last time I was in there, the waitress told our table a particular beer was on special. When the check came, it was regular price---the waitress was confused about what night it was. Neither the waitress nor manager was willing to honor the price we were told even though they both understood we were told a different price. I don't recall ever being treated with such indifference. I guess they do enough business that they don't have to worry about individual satisfaction. read more

I used to LOVE this place when I lived in Virginia. Maybe since I've moved my taste has changed, but the food is pretty greasy/unhealthy, good, but don't come here if you are calorie counting. This place isn't anything too spectacular in terms of their food. I'm sure there are better sandwich places in Blacksburg that you could go to. But that's not why you go to Macados. You go there because the menu is full of food with odd names. You go there because everyone on campus and town goes there. You go there because the walls are full of random posters and artwork that you spend half your time there looking at them. And you go there because you'll remember going there with your friends. After living in Blacksburg for 10 years and then just recently going back after not being there for 4 years, this was one place that I knew that I had to go back and visit. The sandwiches here are always good. Get the french onion dip for your chips. I think it's just the onion dip powder mix that you mix up yourself, but it's still good. My only complaint is the consistently crappy service. Prepare yourself to spend at least an hour here on a good day, so be warned if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. The only reason I'm giving Macado's a 3 is because I love their food and the atmosphere. Their service could use some work. The servers are usually really nice and attentive, but sometimes you're forgotten. I avoid going there simply because you won't get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I went to lunch there about a year ago and was in there for over 2 hours. Last time I was in there, I waited on our check for over 15 minutes after the server said they'd be right back - I understand getting busy, but she walked past our table at least 3 times during that 15 minutes. read more

Hands down BEST macaroni & cheese I've ever had. I think it cost me a total of $3.50 or something ridiculous. That aside, this place is known for the sandwhiches. Their menu has close to 100 sandwhich choices, all of which are really good. My favorite is the Cowpoke. Their service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. A good place to take family and a good place to just go to with a couple of riends. Oh, and for those wondering, Tuesday is Kids night. This place can accomidate everyone! read more

Wish there was a negative rating here. Wait time was way too long, we were seated in the game room which was similar to eating at Chuck E Cheese and when we finally got our food (an hour later for sandwiches) everyone's bread on their sandwich was burnt!! Macado's is kind of overrated by all the local college kids, but it has some decent American food, and their extensive selection of sandwiches will leave you dizzy. A favorite for large groups is the Hindenburg, their famous super long sandwich. I enjoyed their quesadillas, though, and I've heard that their wing nights are pretty popular. If I were to ever revisit Blacksburg, I would probably only go to Macado's for nostalgia's sake. It is really nothing special. read more

Buyers Beware! On Thursday there are 39 cent wings, but it takes forever to come out. The only good thing about this place was the cheap..semi-good tasting wings. I sat for 30 minutes waiting for my wings to come out. Took 10 minutes to eat them. Sat for another 30 minutes waiting for our waitress to fill our water and get the extra sauce we asked for. BUT WAIT. She never came by and we had to call her down to get our check. But low and behold when she came with "our" check it was not ours at all! We had to call her back and get the right one. Overall, very disappointed in the service, but may comeback when I have more time to wait hours for our waitress. read more

Delicious sandwiches! Decent wing night prices (29 cents), but for some reason the breading gets soggy if it is soaked in the sauce, so order the sauce on the side. This is the same night as Hindy night, where you get some gigantic four person italian sub for under ten bucks. Come here for St. Patrick's day, they have a great special menu the whole beginning part of March until the day of the event. read more

Macado's has the craziest interior I've ever seen; it will keep you interested just looking at all the stuff they have in there (like the dinosaur head and the big King Kong in the middle of the restaurant). They have so many sandwiches that it's easy to find something you like, and if you can't, you can always make a custom sandwich. The food is good, and the portions are large. read more

Ahh Macado Memories- I'm so glad it's still there As VT Alumni 1999- Go Hokies- I have very fond memories of Macado's in Blacksburg. We would gather there at least once a week with friends or with the sorority and get a big table- usually upstairs. The menu was so huge I got a different item almost everytime- sandwiches, mac and cheese, even lasagna and when I was almost out of money- I'd just pig out on the chips, pretzels and dip. But I often had enough money for a daiquiri- a virgin version in my under years- with whipped cream on top and it came with a free collectible annual glass. It's now almost 10 years later and I treasure my Macado's glass collection. Great Memories. read more

Truly a pleasure to revisit Macado's Blacksburg. Food was just as good as I remember, and still very affordable prices. Restaurant and Bar area clean and well kept. Fun atmosphere to start of a good evening in Blacksburg. Service was timely, friendly, and knowledgeable. My only negative thing to say about it is that its a bummer they switched to the individual bags of chips with their sandwiches. But this is a minor criticism. Keep it up Macado's! read more

OMG! I'm not sure why my daughter hasn't forced us into Macado's sooner, she really should be ashamed! The food was so good, everyone at the table had something that just loved - 6 of us. The menu has a ton of choices, there's no way you won't find something whose description doesn't make your water. At first I thought there were too many choices, but I really did like the myriad of sandwich choices. And don't let the word "sandwiches" scare you, I wanted DINNER not a sandwich ... OMG ... It was so good. The next day hubby & I went back alone, I couldn't help but to order the same delicious sandwich. I sure wish they'd throw up a bunch more of these around VA, takes me 3 hours to get to Blacksburg ... My daughter loves in this coming Tuesday ... Guess where we'll be eating?!? OMG - did I say OMG!
