I've been living on the north shore for years and I'm so disappointed that I never learned about Mac Place LTD sooner. All these years of paying Apple repair prices for maintaining devices are over for me. If you have any Apple device that needs repair, I highly recommend you call Mac Place first. My mid 2011 iMac wouldn't boot up and I thought for sure I was going to throw it out as I figured it would cost more to fix than just getting a new iMAC, but I thought, can't hurt to call someone on the north shore with a good reputation and see if they can fix it. I called Mac Place as they were just half a block away from where I lived and was able to drop it off within 10 mins of calling them. As soon as I dropped it off, the repair person had the screen off and diagnose the issue as a failed power supply within 5 minutes and gave me a quote of 150 to fix it, 85 for the parts and 65 for the labour. I was so surprised that it was a no brainer to go ahead and do it as I was planning on using my iMac as a secondary monitor and this was way cheaper than buying a new Apple monitor. In addition, he found that the left fan was failing and replaced it for just the cost of the part which was $25 and didn't charge me labour for it. I was able to get my iMAC fixed within a couple of hours. I can't think of any other business that operates this efficiently and professionally. I was blown away at the level and quality of service. Watching the technician take apart my iMAC at the speed and care that he did tells me he's been doing this for years and extremely confident at what he does. Don't let the size of these smaller businesses fool you, these are the diamonds in the rough that are hard to find and when you find them, you want to keep them. I highly recommend Mac Place for all of your Apple service repairs. They are indeed awesome! read more

I went in and both workers were already busy but when I told my story the guy at the desk handed my computer to his work mate. He opened the back and cleaned it and some other magic. I was so happy it was fixed. I asked them how much I owed them, they both said "no, no, next time, so I pulled out $20 and said, "let me at least buy you a cup of coffee" and they both replied "no, no, no, next time." Yes, I was happy they fixed my mac but I was blown away they wouldn't take anything for it. This tiny shop with South Beach, Miami window dressing and lights was a lesson in community. 15 Minutes before I was in another Lonsdale store with mac experts. There was a parking spot. I went in and bottom line it would be $169 to do the logistics however, if I needed a new screen it would be $410 more. I left to ponder and drove down Lonsdale and went to the Mac Place. This was my experience and I felt uplifted knowing there were people like these guys doing business in our community. Their generosity inspires me. Thanks Mac Place guys! read more

Bravo!! Mac Place at 2nd and Lonsdale!! The service is amazing. My 9 year old had a water damaged Mac Book Pro that was given to him, we thought was toast. I had them look at it and not only did they get it started, they tided up and reviewed all internal systems, they upgraded the software, changed out a broken connector and repaired a keyboard button at no cost. All in $65 + GST!!! They were so friendly and interested in my two boys and the experience was second to none. I had the absolute best experience at Mac Place yesterday! My MacBook Pro had been infected with a virus and my Teams App wouldn't work. I was on a flight, and I sent them a panicked email request for an appointment the next day. They got back to me right away, and went above and beyond in their efforts to fix my issues. Wow! Super great service, reasonable price, some freebies and just overall friendly, honest and quick service. These guys replaced the battery on my 2012 Macbook Pro, in 1 business day, for a totally reasonable price. They even replaced a couple of dead keyboard keys for free. And talked me out of buying something that would not help me (I will spare you the details). Even though I live in East Van and have much closer options, I will come to these guys for all my mac repairs now. Awesome! read more

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you! You guys are awesome! I showed up at 530pm with my ancient 2006 macbook pro needing some minor surgery which ended up being somewhat major surgery. They stayed late (an extra hour after closing) to fix it for me! Unfortunately today was not my day. After losing all info in my memory stick I took it and my computer for an urgent service to this shop. Firstly they said it will take from half an hour to 3 hours. After one hour I called and they answer very rudely the phone. Then, after two hours because my urgency in having back my computer, I went to pick it up temporarily and to bring it back on Monday, but they said they did not want to see me back on Monday, and verbally they said no problem with losing a customer, and they obliged me to sign in an informal notebook, because they don't have any formal receipt for the shop. I denied to sign and the "helper" grabbed me not very respectful by my arm threating me with calling the police if I don't sign. Honestly, they were in a bad temper and I was in a really urgency and frustration due to my lose of information, but this is not a manner to treat with a customer under any circumstance. read more

These guys are honest and the will not rip you off and make you wait a long time to get your laptop fixed (unlike Apple store)... I dropped a heavy item on my space bar and it was not working well. they fixed it within two hours. I also needed a battery change for my Macbook Pro which they gave me a really reasonable price for it and also cleaned my fan and tuned some other little things on my laptop (because they are NICE guys). Overall, with labour costs it was about 1/3-1/2 what I would have been charged at the Apple shop and fixed and finished within the SAME day. Folks you won't get these results at Apple - NO hassle of going all the way to pacific centre and dealing with the crowds and Genius bar circus and waiting several days/week for repairs like I've had to do in the past. I am very satisfied and would recommend this place to others who live on the North Shore.... I was also served a nice cup of tea while I waited for them to finish repairs. They also have a nice selection of second hand MacBook Pros and iMacs they've refurbished that are reasonable priced....check 'em out. read more

There are not many people who have the skills, equipment, and patience to rework a modern laptop logic board. I came in with a fried MacBook Pro (after trying to fix my power adapter myself) and they spent an incredible amount of time troubleshooting and ultimately replacing a bunch of tiny individual components soldered on the logic board. These guys have saved me twice. First time was water damage, they warned me that often they need to replace the battery and keyboard that there is corrosion that requires board replacement but in the end they found it was only the board. Could have charged me way more but they are honest guys. Second time ended up being a software issue, again the charge was reasonable and they were quick and friendly. read more

Hossein was recommended to me by a friend and I am very happy that I met him. Service like this is hard to find in a big city, and I knew Apple would rip me off if I brought my dying macbook to them. Hossein impressed me to no end. He made very clear what he was going to do to save what he could of my files and restore my computer to a working device. these guys saved my computer! i have a macbook pro 17" (the last of its kind) and the graphic card on the logic board failed (a common problem with that model i am told). i had taken my laptop to 'simply computing' when the problem occurred, who diagnosed it, but they couldn't do anything to fix it as apple just stopped making parts for that model in the past six month. unfortunately they were not very helpful in offering possible solutions to try to save my precious machine either. so i took it to apple, and the guy i spoke with at the genius bar offered some fair advices, and also gave me some valuable recommendations, including this repair shop. i tell you, these guys are real geeks -- they actually fix broken parts (which apple would normally just replace). so if you think you've hit a wall with your computer, like i did, but care to give more life to your machine, i highly recommend these folks! plus they offer a 90-day warranty on their work so if it doesn't hold the first time (as it did for me) they will fix it again for free. plus i think their prices are reasonable. i didn't expect cheap -- i expected to save $4K+ in not having to buy another machine. thank you so much ben and hossein! you guys rock! read more

Excellent, professional, fast, friendly service from Ben and Hossein. My wife's aging iMac was in dire need of updating, including a new hard drive and OS upgrade. MacPlace had the computer for no more than three days and not only did all the necessary cleanup, but spent half an hour working through some communication issues, including how to change passwords. Well, those guys managed to damage my $600 laptop. Brought it for a small fix, and in turn my computer started behaving randomly and unresponsive. More trips and "fixes" from them until it fried in front of me with a smoke and small fire. So if you don't mind losing hundreds of dollars, valuable time and exposing your self to fire hazard that's your place. read more
