I made an appointment with the store manager " Zi " to get my makeup done for my son's wedding several weeks ahead of time and the night before my appointment I got a text from her that she is sick and won't be able to come to work tomorrow. I was devastated since this was a special event. I text her back asking if there was anyone else who could do my makeup but she didn't respond. I rushed to the store to get the items I was going to purchase after getting my makeup done and asked an employee if "Zi" was sick , she told me that she was working today and had just left the store. She not only canceled my appointment but didn't even try to help me out and lied about being sick. I feel like what she did was unprofessional and cruel and it seemed like she did it on purpose and I have no idea what the reason was. She should have found another person or even in a different location to do my makeup for my son's special day. I'm very disappointed and heartbroken. I have worked in customer service and in retail management for many years and I can't believe such an unprofessional person is running a store. what a horrible experience. read more

I called the day before visiting and spoke with a woman by the name of Tamika in regard to stopping by before my daughter's cheer competition for an eyeshadow demo, She informed me that they did not have any available appointments, but as long as I came first thing in the morning, a rep could show me how to apply the eyeshadow combination as long as I made a purchase. I visited this MAC store 30 minutes after opening on Saturday 12/16/24. There was no one in the storefront. They were open but no one on the floor. I finally went to the register and saw a big woman in the office on her phone. When I asked her assistance with the makeup and if she could give me a tutorial of the eyeshadow combination we were purchasing, she refused and told me I needed to make an appointment. Make an appointment for an eyeshadow demo? There were no customers in the store, why couldn't she help me? She informed me that she had to stay in the office to take care of morning paperwork which is why she could not be on the floor. I wouldn't be surprised if this MAC has allot of theft. Your employees are lazy, and they leave the storefront EMPTY so anyone can just walk past and take what they want. NEVER patronizing this MAC again. read more

Absolutely fantastic customer service from Nadia! After searching MAC stores across the country for a particular shade, Nadia gave me the terrible news that the color I'd been searching everywhere for (and running dangerously low on) had been discontinued. NOOOOOOOO!!!! After I dried my tears, she set out to help me find a close substitute. At the same time, she was also helping a woman at the counter who was having a difficult time verifying the information she needed to get her make-up artist's discount. Nadia was a multi-taking MASTER! She was on the phone verifying information for the other lady and as soon as she went on hold, she would come back and check in on me, bringing me some other colors to try that were very close to what I was looking for. Long story short, I found a fabulous shade that is almost ALMOST identical to my beloved 'Real Redhead'. For a while, it was a tie between "Angel" and "Bombshell", but "Bombshell won by a hair. I was thrilled that they also had my Mahogany lip liner in stock because I had used the last of it just one week prior. Aside from the big scary security dude eyeballing me every once in a while, I felt really comfortable shopping here. I never felt pressured to buy anything, and I felt like every suggestion Nadia made to me was genuine, as opposed to an attempt to get me to just buy something. I had an appointment for a make up session for the essentials and eye inspiration recently. Alexis (Lexi) helped me out. To say that she was the most caring, compassionate and competent professional is an understatement. She took her time with each step of the process, patiently demonstrated each technique and then allowed me to do it on myself to gain confidence. We went through a whole range of products, building up the perfect layers for a flawlesss finished look. I felt transformed at the end of it, and confident in my make up techniques. Alexis is beyond amazing at what she does, and an utterly friendly human being who immediately puts her clients at ease. The other staff members at the store were also extremely friendly, checking in, encouraging and reassuring all at once. This store is centrally located at Stoneridge mall, so it's naturally busy ALL OF THE TIME. I don't really like this actual MAC storefront. It's loud, dark, and the associates often look down on you. They try to rush you because they're flooded with customers at all times. It's a small store, and I wouldn't go to this exact location unless I knew exactly what I wanted and could quickly go in/go out. So my family member and I were supposed to have full makeup done at a different location, but as soon as we arrived at the mall we received a call that they had to cancel. We had a wedding to go to, time was an issue, and we felt a little lost at what to do because neither of us do makeup. She had NEVER had makeup on her face before let alone done for her. I just don't know what to do with the products. We took a gamble and walked over to Mac because we were already at the mall. We explained the situation to the two artists that were there. They explained that they only provide highlights like just skin or just eyes, but we were just overjoyed with however they could help us. We lucked out that it was early and they didn't have other customers so we were able to get more of their attention. Miguel helped me out. He did a fantastic job explaining why he chose what products he did and how to apply them. It was very clear that I was in knowledgeable hands, and that he really enjoyed helping people feel confident through makeup. My family member was cared for by Jacklyn. She said that she felt like she learned a lot from her and that it was a great experience. She loved Jacklyn's artistic makeup that she had on, and it gave my family member some ideas for a story that she plans on writing. We left there with a couple of products and an abundance of gratitude for these nice people who made stuff work out for us when we were in such a pinch. 4:30 on a Saturday, 4 ladies working and two customers. I went in to get color matched because I was running low on my Studio Fix. Three of the girls came up to me separately the first 5 minutes and I explained what I wanted. Each said they could help me in 2-3 minutes and as I waited, they collectively chatted on the floor about nothing pressing and after 5 more minutes I took my little 5 year old son who was patiently waiting for mommy to get her make up and left the store. I felt ignored and unimportant and have been a Mac user for 20 years. Never again. Went to Sephora today and got color matched with their iQ system and found a much better foundation with nicer people. read more

Stay away from this MAC for makeovers. I called in two weeks prior to the day I wanted a makeover. The makeover was intended for my brothers graduation party. He had just finished dental school. It was a big deal, and it was a big party. The woman on the phone listed out available app. times and I chose a time. She asked for my name and phone number and I provided her with that. She then concluded the phone call. The makeover day came and I approached the counter. I politely inform them about the appointment I made and they pulled out some papers. They told me that my name wasn't on the list. The girl on the phone never scheduled my appointment! Incredibly unprofessional. I guess the MAC employee sensed my annoyance and told me to wait around. She said that sometimes people don't show up. So sure enough thirty minutes later a slot opened up. She directed me to a chair. I tried to explain the look I wanted but she didn't understand so I showed her an image. She simply nodded and started the makeover. She did not acknowledge me throughout out the experience and chatted away with the employee next to her. But whatever, that's fine. The real horror was the finished product. I had a thick and rounded wing. The eyeshadow was blended unevenly. My eyebrows were thick and muddy. She didn't even bother applying foundation or anything to my skin. I asked her to make the wing sharper and thinner which she did fortunately. But the look was still a mess. I planned to visit often for makeovers but not anymore. I suspect the maid stole my MAC carbon eyeshadow because it is nowhere to be found. Carbon is my essential shadow that I love to mix w/almost anything. So I decided to hit up the MAC counter on my lunch break to pick up another carbon eyeshadow. I walked out w/6 shadows, paint pots, eyeliners, & a studio fix compact. (This always happens when I shop for make-up. haha) The gentleman that helped me was very friendly & made some great recommendations. I'm am a MAC addict and it didn't help when I started working at Nordstrom that I received a discount throughout the store, standard for most department stores. I soon found "my" MAC lady whom helped me find the perfect shades of eyeshadow, brow definer and lip sticks for me. I think I bought bi-weekly if not weekly from this counter! Even without a discount this line of make-up is reasonably priced for what you get. Since I've stopped working at Nordstrom I haven't been back, since I pretty much stocked up on everything! But now that I'm running low, I shall return to find that perfect lipgloss or eyeshadow. Go here and not to the temporary MAC store on the first level of the mall near starbucks!!!! Came here to purchase my typical products. I decided to go to Stoneridge mall since I was close by. I purchase a total of 5 items; 2 eyeshadows, a eyeshadow brush, and a blush, and a cream eyeshadow. Not too complicated right? It never fails that each time I leave this store, they forget to give me what I needed. Even if you write this out for them on a piece of paper. It never ever fails. As I am on the way home, I had to drive all the way back. This time she double charged me for an eyeshadow. She rang up the same thing twice, instead of ringing up something else. ????? My advice to you. If you are purchasing more than 2 items. Stay at the store look at your receipt and look at all your items to make sure they picked up the right stuff for you. When you go back to them and tell them, they don't remember you, and they look at you like you are lying. Hate having to deal with the drama. Advice: Please check your items before you leave! When I go to any makeup counter to have my makeup done, I stand back and observe for a while first to see which artists seem to be professionals who are working the counter but are also independent, and which artists seem to be new to the world of makeup artistry and are not pros. After I've selected my MUA (makeup artist), I may have to wait a while and schedule an appointment with them later on, because the good ones are usually the most busy. I am happy to stroll around waiting for a pro then to be served immediately by a newbie. When I'm in-chair, I always let them know if I either a) have something I am attending and what I'm wearing/how I want to look; b) want a new look and I want their input; c) have a specific look I want but want a professional to do the job instsead of doing it myself. My fave MUA at this M.A.C. counter is Gloria! She always does an excellent job! I even brought in my own mother for Gloria to make over, and she loved her also. When M.A.C. is debuting a new line, selling brush giftsets, Wonder Woman products, etc, I stay clear if I can, because I know it will be a madhouse and the service will be strained due to all the women pushing to the front. But in general, if I'm stopping in to pick up items and not have my makeup done, I usually have extra people asking if they can help when someone is already fetching items for me. read more

Always running out of popular items, so you would think they would be prepared & more appropriately stocked, but that is not the case. I've ran into all kinds of types, but I can say for the most part the girls behind the counter are a bit too snooty and standoffish for their own good. I love the makeup, but I sometimes think their level of professionalism isn't quiet what it should be for the position these people are filling. You're better off going to Nordstrom's cosmetic counter (if you already know what you're looking for) & get it there; otherwise you'll be stuck with someone who could care less about your needs & eventually re-appears only to proclaim that the product your looking for is out of stock, at which point they will send you up to Nordstrom any how. read more

I made a makeup appointment with this location since the actual MAC store didn't have an afternoon slot available. I was paired with Jam who did a great job on my makeup for a wedding I attended that night. She was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the MAC products. She asked some questions about my skin type and my makeup routine, and the products she chose were perfect. It was my first time having my makeup done at MAC so I just let her do her thing. After all, shes the expert. To give her some inspiration, I showed her what my dress looked like, and it turned out really nice. She also encouraged me to watch her work in a handheld mirror so I could replicate it for next time. She took her time with me and was in no rush, though we were interrupted a few times so she could man the counter and help out a coworker. I didn't mind too much but had to watch the clock so as not to miss the shuttle to the wedding. There was no charge for the service, you just purchase a couple of the products. I came out w a face and eye primer, eyelashes and lipstick. The lip gloss she used was beautiful too. I'll prob end up getting at least one of their glosses next time. Although this location is a bit far, Id recommend them if you're in the area for a wedding, special occasion, or just want your makeup done. Friendly service and amazing products. read more

I cannot go to a mall without stopping by a MAC counter, and now that I'm in school in Livermore, I happen to go here on my 4 hour break between classes. *sigh* I have willpower at all other stores in the mall, but the moment I walk to a MAC counter, I just can't help myself. I end up talking to the Artists, and start talking about all kinds of things--collections, etc. They're super busy on the weekends, so don't expect the best service imaginable, I mean there ARE tons of customers, you have to hand it to them for trying though, so don't be so offended for being overlooked. If you're the patient kind, they'll be really nice, but if you're impatient I'm sure just about anyone would be rude. If you go during the week and during the weekday when it's a little slower, they are the nicest people in the world to help you out. I've been to all kinds of MAC counters all over the bay, and this one seems so much more friendlier than the rest. But the best counter I've experienced so far is in SF - Westfield Bloomingdales. read more

I usually buy my makeup from Chanel and Mac. Sometimes from Benefit. I'm getting married soon and I had a trial run of my wedding makeup done here. First of all, the girls who work here have waaaay too much makeup on-- which should have been my first warning. They did my makeup so thick I ended up looking like a either a hooker or a drag queen. Pretty much the opposite of how most people would want to look at their wedding. On top of that, the girls made me feel really rushed. For everyday wear, their makeup is great. But because of them I opted to hire a professional for the big wedding day. I'd suggest anyone who is getting their wedding makeup done to avoid running to the mall on the big day, but if you must, avoid coming here. read more

This woman (looked like the manager or something?) said that she can squeeze her in for makeup and my mom was esatatic. I'm not sure if this is the real location but the one I went to was right across Starbucks. I went to check it out and everything was so organized. I was literally in MAC heaven. I got that feeling that I was backstage of a performance or something with all the lights on the mirror and the chairs with girls getting their makeup done. i like the macy's mac counters more. they're nicer ad more helpful. there were only 2 girls at the counter and all i needed help on was for them to clean off a lipstick for a split sec, then they could come back to me....still she said for me to wait.. :::waiting::: really now, i wasn't sure she wanted my sale but i needed 2 fix+'s, a shadetick, a dazzle mascara, and lipstick... when she realized i was getting a load of stuff, she finally came over and kept apologizing. pisssssssssssha. read more

Beware ladies...I got pink eye and it has been really tough to get rid of it. I am wondering if it is a super strain or something?? I am on my second round of eye treatment and am very frustrated to say the least. Don't test the make up on your eyes, it is not worth it. I haven't been able to wear contacts in 2 weeks and I am constantly washing my hands and keeping my towels away from my kids so that they don't get it. I never use high end make up and decided I'd treat myself and I am so regretful. I should of stuck with Target makeup, at least it is sanitary. read more

I've been to this counter several times (probably around 10x), and up until the last time the girls were always at least decent, if not really friendly. But last time, I went there in order to exchange an eyeshadow that I had bought just the day before. I realized the color was wrong for me, so i wanted to simply exchange it for something better, and asked the girl if she could help me pick out a better color. Obviously i needed the help if i was coming back to exchange my first choice of color, right? She seemed fine with my exchanging the product. But when i asked for help in choosing a new color, she seemed really put out that i was making her Do.Her.Job. And its not like i took a long time -- i had decided on a new color in 5 minutes. So when i brought out my old eyeshadow to give back, she looked at it and realized the eyeshadow and the box didn't match up. I must have put the wrong shadow in the box! (I had bought 2 shadows the previous day.) When she saw that, she got pretty snippy with me and told me that it was the wrong box. She didn't even look at me when she gave it back, because apparently she had already decided she was done with wasting her breath on me. I'll still go there if I absolutely need something from the counter (rather than online), but I'm never going to her for help again. FYI: If you encounter a somewhat heavy Asian counter-girl there, that's her! Find someone else! The others are much nicer! read more

Trial makeup runs. Definite must for these brides to be's out there. Figure out your style for free. Pick any weekday except Friday. Make and appointment (required). Have them play and play and play. Do this before you step up to consultations you have to pay for. No one really wants to travel to the mall on their wedding day. No one is asking you to. Do all this before your big day. So you know what style, coverage colors you are really interested in when you go to a makeup artist locally or that can come to you where ever you are getting married at. Also getting your makeup done by MAC. Gives you a chance to pick up some favorites you'll need that day. Not like the makeup artist will be following you around all day with lip gloss and powder when you need it. Also pick up some oil sheets to absorb any sweat before pictures of your face and your fellow girls. I was at a few consultations in Fremont. More fun makeup there. Try it for your baccalaureate party or Lingerie shower. Pleasanton girls had more of a refined look and approach I found more suitable for the wedding day or rehearsal night. All the girls were wonderful. Remember though weekends are super busy you'll need to book and appointment at least 3 weeks prior for fun trials and pay $50 (worth in cosmetics). I've been to this counter 3 times and so far i've experienced pretty good customer service and they have pretty good collections! They still have FAFI figurines! and a bunch from the Heatherette line as well. The last time I went there, there I got asked by every girl if i needed help every 10 seconds. I'm a huge fan of the eyeshadows because they're packed with color and sparkle depending on what type you get.. I also love their brushes even though they cost way too much.. But I guess quality has its costs! They have great foundations too but I don't like wearing that all too often because it clogs up your face which isn't healthy! If you want to create a personal palette this isn't the place to go because only Mac Stores offer that so don't come here if that's what you're looking to buy.. They always have experienced makeup artists on deck though so if you need a fresh new look, just drop by and check them out! read more

customer service has consistently been hit or miss here. some days i get helped instantly with undivided attention...other days it's super busy and i can't get the time of day. but consistently i walk away happy and with more then i needed. The only frustrating experience is when they're out of product as I so rarely have needs that when I do come I expect to get it! Used this MAC counter for my wedding day and had a GREAT experience. All the way from my initial phone call to completion. The girls were very friendly (unlike some stuck up MAC girls). I assumed it would be the opposite since this one is in Stoneridge and Nordstrom...lol. I really was taking a risk (didn't even go in ahead of time for a trial). Went in day of a little before appointment time and they took us (maid of honor and I) and got started early :) The girl who did my makeup really did an AMAZING job. Gave the complete look I was going for (Natural wedding day look). I wanted something dewy, glowy, sort of "Kim Kardashian" was how I described it..haha. She gave suggestions, started off light to go heavier if I wanted it and was chill and calming the whole time. My makeup stayed put ALL DAY...including the lashes that she put on me. I didn't even realize how good the makeup looked until EVERY single person I came in contact with on wedding day commented on it. MANY asked me later who did it..the name of the artist etc. I even called back later to get her name so I could have an answer for people when they asked me. So the answer to that is -My makeup was done by JEANIE (shorter Filipino girl who used to work for Urban Decay). Wedding day can be stressful, and makeup is a huge piece. I was completely at ease, happy and satisfied with my wedding day makeup from here. Thanks JEANIE!! P.S. Price wise for wedding day makeup it's pretty much unbeatable.
