I have been a brow bar customer at Macy's for MANY years and have always had super great experiences. The crew is always SO nice and welcoming and always make me feel super comfortable as well as always do amazing on my brows. Always 5 star service!! I went today to get a typical brow wax and was greeted by 2 super amazing employees who were so kind, asking me about my weekend, complimenting my nails and making sure I was comfortable and ready for my service (unfortunately I didn't catch their names) but then it was time for my wax... I have been to Ashleigh once before a few months ago with my mother, and had such a negative experience. She was just plain rude. I'm not gonna publicly go into the full extent of our conversation, but she was VERY demeaning to me with her comments. She was just not friendly, didn't even say hi... but we all have off days and she did great with my brows, so I didn't put too much care into it. But today I had her again, and she was just as rude. As I was saying I was greeted by 2 amazingly kind workers, and one of them sat me in the brow chair and gave me the waiver to sign. When Ashleigh finally was ready to start she didn't smile at me, didn't acknowledge me, no hi, she just said "you're in the wrong chair, can you move here" in a very rude tone. Later on we got on the topic that I was moving to la and with no excitement or congratulations she just gave me demeaning and sny comments about affording living there, which is exactly the issue I had with her last time. And she spoke probably a total of 20 words to me the entire time. Sorry girl but don't emphasize to me your tip bag (first time she gave me a smile) if your gonna be rude and demean me the whole time. All in all, VERY nice brow bar, AMAZING place to get brows done, everyone BUT Ashleigh is the best!! Arla was my brow expert she was friendly, professional and did an excellent job. All the brow specialist I have seen have been great. My mom and my sister both go to her as well. Keep in mind, I have thick very coarse brows.. and I like to keep them thick! She doesn't tweeze an extra hair that she doesn't need to. I had a little bit of an eyebrow dilemma few weeks ago. I came here after I had no luck that the overpriced "members only" threading kiosk. I walked up there we're 2 ladies "working" one had just waxed the others eyebrows (how professional of them). Strike one. One of the ladies insisted I wait until the next day and come in so I could have them waxed for free (bday promo), but I needed them done NOW. After some back and forth she convinced me to just come in the next day. Fast forward to Monday evening, I go in and see the same lady from Saturday...all of sudden she is not as nice to me. She proceeded to tell me they we're "Closed for the night" ( it was 7:00pm) and she suggested I make an appointment. keep in mind she is doing NOTHING. She could have taken me in. It would have taken her less then 10 minutes. I explained to her that I came in on Saturday and she didn't tell me I needed an appointment ( waiting was not an option since she said she was closed), she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about or remembered who I was. Mind you she was practically my BFF 2 days ago when she insisted I come back the next day and get my services for free! Strike two! That's it, I'm done I don't have time to play these stupid little games. I walked away went to Macy's and on my way out guess what I see??? The Benefit Brow bar seems to have reopened for the rest of the evening! She was doing someones eyebrows. STRIKE THREE!!!!!!!!!! Never again. I don't mind making an appointment, heck I don't mind paying you for services. Don't treat me like a dumba**, and think I don't know you we're completely blowing me off. This place is just not meant to get your eyebrows done. The people that work here are too busy talking and when you interrupted them you get this look like what do you want. The person who did my eyebrows Ashely she did such a horrible job that it made me upset spending that money to get results like I did. I had got my eyebrows done here before and they were ok but after my last visit I don't think I will ever go there again. It just hurts to spend that much and get results that are not even worth half. I feel like filling the eyebrows is way for them to hide the hair they took out on accident or hair that did not take out. Really horrible job, just be aware that they might not turn out as expected even when you spend that much money. I wish I got the name of the black hair (excuse my language) a*hole that worked at the counter because she needs an attitude check. I can definitely say I am not a high maintenance female. When it comes to service, I expect people to at least acknowledge my existence. I walked up to the counter and she just stares at me, plastic tiara in her hair, plastic pearls around her neck. There is no "hello", no "may I help you?", not anything. She continued to stare at me until I basically just said, "Can I get my name on the waiting list?" She got my name down and didn't say anything afterwards; no "please take a seat" nor did she give me some sort of estimated time that it'll take. I asked her how long it will take, she just says she doesn't know. It was an excruciating exchange of words. I walked around the mall a little and came back maybe 20 mins later and my name hasn't been called, so I sat and waited. I was sitting in front of a loud radio that they put out when they called my name. I heard it, and I said that was me, but I guess the lady that called me didn't hear me say it? I'm not sure, but they gave my place to someone else. I wasn't really trippin' about it because whatevs, mistakes happen. But the girl with the black hair was basically pointing at me, laughing at me, telling her co-worker "Oh she was sitting there and she didn't say anything", over and over again. I didn't even complain to begin with, why are you acting like a child? HEY B***H, WHAT IS THIS? HIGH SCHOOL??? One of the ladies that did the waxing walks over to look at the list and calls me. She told me that she has been free for maybe 10 minutes and no one was sending me to her. So.... this stuck up, counter girl just let me sit there, waiting while she twirls her hair and talking crap about me. The person who did my brows apologized. She was super nice and attentive. But that didn't change the fact that I had a horrible 40 minutes prior to seeing her, because these people at the counter were not there to HELP anyone. They were people that didn't know how to do their jobs and makes this whole experience torture for me. The brow work itself wasn't so great. There are definitely girls that do a better job than others, and the person that did mines was not one of them. Well, I don't actually know how well they do brows here because I've never actually had mine done at this location. They're always too understaffed and expect you to make APPOINTMENTS. Appointments. For a freakin' ten minute procedure. I have to plan my entire day and trip to Pleasanton around a ten minute window. Just this past weekend I went to the mall expecting to not have a problem with getting a wax. However, the only person working informed me that the bar wasn't opening until waaay after the mall did. And to add insult to injury, she snobbily told me there wasn't an open spot until noon anyway. By contrast, I never have any problem getting into a BBB in the North Bay. Sometimes I do have to wait up to 15 minutes, but I can easily kill that time in the mall or even at nearby counters. They are just as crowded or backed up but are able to manage the flow much more easily by having people sign in instead of make appointments. Ah, Pleasanton. Your unwarranted snobbiness never ceases to amaze me. Even your makeup counter girls are snobby. (I reviewed this before and it somehow changed to "Walnut Creek"?! I used to go to Leslie. She was AMAZING! (unforuntately, she left the cosmetic industry and got another job somewhere else) I go to Kirstin whenever I can. She is good, detailed-oriented and she always reassure everything before and after waxing. One missing star: the service. Sometimes I feel like they are rude when I ask for open slots (if I don't have an appointment) or asking a simple question regarding the products. I get it, is your job (you may or may not like/love it), but I am customer. Last thing I want is your attitude and how you don't give a crap about me wanting to get my brows wax. First, when I showed up at 1:03 for my 1pm brow wax appointment I was ignored and scowled at by the mute 19 year old behind the counter, then ten minutes later, when someone finally realized I was there for an appointment I was scolded for being late! They belong to Macy's which probably explains the different in services from the Waxers who work for Benefit directly. I'm glad my feedback was taken seriously. Apprciated! **** I knocked the stars down, not for the waxing, because the esticians are awesome, but instead for the lack of customer service. I went today, a monday after the lunch rush at 1pm. Was told that the walk-in list is closed for lunch and to come back at 1:40. Took my name but not my number. I said, are you sure you just want my name? The customer service rep said yes, just my name. . .as I'm walking off, he says, Ma'am make that 2pm instead. Okay - no worries I had some things to do. Well I return at 1:50, only for the counter person to tell me it was changed to 2:30 and that the wait list person won't be back from lunch until then, so more like 2:40. WTF? What a waste of MY time. (1) take my # down next time and call me if you're going to change the time (2) don't change the time if you've promised a customer 2pm. Not the customers fault if you ran late to lunch. (3) go beyond the problem and fix it. No, I got blank stares and "there's nothing we can do." There's always something to make a situation right. No one at the counter wanted to think about that. Its a shame. I used to be a regular. Not sure if I can go back with the current staff working the counter. Love all the waxers, though! read more

This is a bit of a delayed review but i walked past Benefit in Macy's today and thought about yelping my horrible last experience. The last two years i had gotten my eyebrows waxed by a wonderful lady named Nicole! She was always super sweet and nice and my mom and her always shared great laughs. Her service was always something to look forward to. However, my junior prom was coming up and because it fell on a saturday, we made an appointment to come in at 5:00 on the wednesday before that just so we knew for sure all redness would be away before prom. My mother, pregnant at the time, was running a little behind at an appointment and by the time she picked me up, we got to benefit maybe 15 minutes late. Of course we felt bad but we knew it wasn't THAT late. We get there and check in and say we have an appointment with Nicole, but she's no where to be found. she went HOME!! We were upset seeing that she's the only girl we had trust with my eyebrows but we were desperate to get my brows tamed before the dance and didn't want the redness so when we asked if just another girl could do them then, the girl said we could come back at 7. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE THERE AT THE MOMENT GETTING THEIR BROWS DONE! So annoying because i was scared i'd have no where to go and have to go tomorrow the risk of being a red swollen mess still by prom! We ended up leaving and i went on a risk because i was desperate and ended up getting my eyebrows THREADED! It is a little more painful but so much cheaper and i personally thought my eyebrows looked a lot better than when waxed. haven't gone to benefit since this experience and have now been getting my eyebrows threaded at JJ's Threading Salon for $8 instead of the $20 to get my brows waxed. read more

It's not by appointment only BUT... if you don't have an appointment be prepared to spend 45 minutes or something just waiting. The girls who work there are pretty good but sometimes I leave giving my eyebrows 5 stars and other times I'd give them only a 3. Very inconsistent. Also, they just raised their prices at the beginning of the year... now it's $20 to get your eyebrows waxed. Plus, they expect you to tip for sure so you end up spending at least $23 for something that hardly lasts 2 weeks. Spending nearly $50 a month on eyebrows is too much for me. I have to dedicate a whole day to this place between the wait, procedure and the fact I have to go home immediately after since my forehead gets so red and swells up. I recommend Threads in Dublin. They're way faster, threading is less painful (no swelling/redness is very minimal if at all) and it's only $10. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Since Nicole left it has gone down hill so decided to try again. The last time I tried it didn't even look like they did anything to my brows. I called - they asked me to hold as they were helping a customer, no problem. Except she left the receive on the counter, I could hear everything said (the woman was complaining, I could feel her plight) - then the other phone rang, they answered it, took all their details for an appointment, and still left my call on the desk. SHE WAXED MY SKIN OFF...: I got my eyebrows done a couple days ago because I hadn't gotten them done in 6 months. I decided to finally go in and get them done. The lady that waxed my eyebrows was red headed and left me in pain. SHE WAXED MY SKIN OFF from both my eyelids and i was bleeding, she didn't even say anything, and still made me pay. I didn't say anything because I had not seen my eyebrows till i left. I thought the pain i was in was because of just getting my eyebrows waxed not because my skin was waxed off. I frequented the brow bar in both Walnut Creek and Concord and have always had a great experience. They were friendly and informative, always eager to help. Unfortunately I moved away from their "awesomeness" and have had to visit the counter in Stoneridge mall. The employee who did my eyebrows was great! She was friendly, a little on the dry side, but very nice. The only complaint I would have is the girl who works the counter ringing me up because she was rude and seemed like she had better things to do than ring me up for my service. And a smile? Apparently completely unheard of for this female. I give the counter itself and the workers who actually give the waxing treatments 4 to 5 stars. I docked those stars due to how rude the girl ringing me up was to both me and another customer. Don't want to work there? Then maybe you should find a different job! read more

The cute little sandy blond was very helpful and matched my skin tone to a beige "Hello Flawless" powder on Thanksgiving weekend. She was very nice and patient. One thing about this Benefit spot is that they don't have everything. It's just a little stall, not the actual counter top like the one in Valley Fair. However, it's kind of set up like Sephora so you can try things on display and you don't feel so invasive, like you have to ask someone to touch something. I didn't have time to do a full makeover but he was so understanding and patient. He took care of me and made me feel and look fabulous. After years of using this app to get reviews on new places I decided to join Yelp just to review this unprofessional place and help everyone else out before they come here. Management aka "Professor Pink" has the worst customer service and attitude (I wouldn't use my real name on my badge if i was that bad too). Cut the eye rolls in front of your customers and at least wait until they're gone. Oh, and look in a mirror when you're putting on your makeup! Not sure how this location is still open - I had a bad experience 10+ years ago in and gave it a second chance to be reminded of why I refused to come here again in the past. Therefore, I drive 20+ miles just to go to Valley Fair in the last few years because they are better and more professional/friendly. Basically, it is worth the gas and extra time to drive 25min away to Valley Fair rather than Stoneridge (even if you live an exit away from Stoneridge like me). If you do decide to go here, see Leslie because she is the only good person and super sweet. read more

I always come to this location for my brows. I usually always get lucky and my favorite girl is there to do my brows. I never make appointments but I did today because of a wedding. I got my usual girl Ashleigh and I'm happy I did. I love how she listens to what I want. After previous experiences with different artists she perfected what I like. An arch but not too dramatic. I constantly look forward to her. She's SUPER friendly and we have great conversations as she's doing my brows. Honestly I love the fact she remembers who I am and things about me that I've told her. DO NOT come to this brow bar location! Had my brows and lip done here today and it felt like my skin was being ripped off every time she took the wax off, I could tell she was pulling wrong. Now my skin above my lip is breaking out! I felt like she rushed through the entire appointment. My brows are difficult and she didn't take the time to try and help me correct my brow issues. Then she filled in my brows after she was finished waxing them, I looked in the mirror and I looked like a damn clown! My eyebrows were not filled in correctly. I cleaned my brows as soon as I got to the car. The girl who did my brows never said one word to me the whole 20 minutes I was there, not until she tried selling me millions of products. They are rude and the brow waxing skills are horrible!!!!!! Don't waste your time or money at this location. I live in Stockton and I usually go to the brow bar by my house! I have never shopped for cosmetics at a department store. I work at walgreens. I first went to Mac with a friend from a beauty meeting we had that day. I was asked by both ladies if we needed help. During our brief visit there was a man staring at at us and was walking everywhere we did. He was so close I could shake his hand. Working in retail I know to shop with you hands visible. Needless to say we didn't buy there. I went to benefit and was first approached by chant on who informed me of product and was really pleasant. Another lady offered to do brows for me. Smiling the whole time they happily gave my face a frame. I was treated like a princess there and bought 2 products from them They were more than I was used to paying but the service I received got me to buy. This place was horrible! I went only once, only to never go back. These girls have an unnecessary attitude and they're so poorly trained. They don't know anything about the products or how to use them. They leave you unattended and return whenever they please, sometimes with food because they decided to go on their lunchbreak! I scheduled an appointment with them for my step daughters wedding and it was the worst experience of my life! First off, they told me up front they could only do my eye makeup even though I payed the $50 minimum for my whole face. Even while the young girl (black hair green eyes) was doing it she was rushing me the whole time, telling me her boss said they had other people coming in and she just didn't have time. Basically all she gave me was a super heavy blue lid (when I specifically told her light, and the color of my dress was burgundy) and sloppily applied the rest of my makeup to my face. I payed the $50 (because we were already running late) and went back to the hall all the way in San Ramon, CA. I wiped of every last bit of it and had a niece re-do it. Worst experience of my life!!!! I don't recommend going here the girls really don't know what they're doing and they're rude and cocky for no reason! read more

My twin sister and i made appointments to get our eyebrows done on our birthday. We showed up maybe five minutes late and they inform us that we can no longer have our first appointment because the person before us was late as well. ( which i dont see how that is our problem) Therefore we agreed to just take our second appointment, so there we waited until our next apointment comes and the brow speacialist goes on her break two minutes after our appointment should have started! Out of frustration we left and needless to say neither one of us got our brows done. This place is weird. I went in (without an appointment because they said I didn't need one) on my birthday for the free brow wax. This was in the afternoon on a Friday (I had taken the day off) I was carded, treated with a little disdain and told to wait. I understood the wait without an appointment but was still surprised it took as long as it did to get in. I sat there listening to the other employees' inane conversation and complaints about work stuff, awkward. I finally get called and got a nice shape and wax with a little makeup to emphasize my brows. The girl doing the wax was strange. She kept saying things that made me feel like a free-loader. She asked "so, you wouldn't pay $20 to get this done?" ... blank stare. I told her I would but it was my birthday so... why not get it for free right? So strange. read more

Jennilyn is fabulous! She takes her time, knows what she's doing and deserves all five stars. Benefit, however, only gets four stars. It's annoying how you can't make an appointment with an esthetician if she is only working "drop ins." Benefit should change that policy. Other brow bars don't make it difficult for you to see the person you want to do your brows. read more
