They told me 3 months and never received updates from them and had no info when I started calling after 3 months time. Took six months, then shipped on a completely sub par pallet with one band for a big block over 500 lb engine. Pallet and engine flipped upside down bending push rods, ruining springs and then discovered missing parts and an incomplete gasket kit as promised. $2,500 in repairs and counting. Warning about this company - extremely disappointing experience This company operates in a deceptive and unethical manner. They make you believe your product will arrive on time, when in reality they don't even have it in stock. They allow you to place an order without disclosing the actual delivery timeline. Only after you've made your payment, they send a "courtesy" email stating that the product will take 1 to 2 months to arrive. In that same message, they claim that if the delay doesn't work for you, you can cancel with no problem. But that's not true. If you try to cancel, they keep 20% of your payment, claiming it was used for parts--even though nothing was shipped. Then, they send you a document after the purchase, asking you to agree to their delivery terms and extended timelines--something that should have been presented upfront, not after payment. Even if you don't sign or accept it, they still keep your money. If you try to reorder, they say the product was reassigned and that you need to pay the full amount again, while they hold on to the original 20%. Depending on the size of your order, this could mean losing over $500. To make matters worse, customer service is terrible. The only person you can speak with is the manager, who yells at customers instead of helping resolve anything. This is an abusive business practice and feels like a scam. Hi everyone, this is review is a WARNING to everyone purchasing an engine from this company! We purchased a freshly rebuilt MABBCO MOTORS FORD 289 engine off of Ebay, it arrived in lack-luster condition, deep rust cavities, overall a dingy orange tinge to areas that should NEVER see water... We continued to move forward, respectively, our client wanted their vehicle for the good weather! During the oil pressure test process we noticed oil blending with the coolant (not in a milkshake form, sadly we didn't even make it that far!) dark streaking immediately after oil pressurization stage. We chased this issue for 2 days, heads off, stripped the block down again to find worm holes throughout our MABBCO rebuilt 289 engine. The engine was removed, sent back to MABBCO for refund, 30 days later after having their junk engine returned we're being told to supply MABBCO with information on the HEADS, and anything else possible to deflect MABBCO'S HORRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL. For those looking for a refund, good luck. As of now we're dealing with MABBCO'S Office manager, PATSY, whom reverts us to the emails and declines our ability to speak with upper-management due to the OWNERS AGE and HEALTH ISSUES!!! This company is absolutely junk, total rip off artists. They take your money, have horrible communication, then send you a "rebuilt" engine which has old used parts inside of it. Then they tie you up in red tape and incomplete emails. They also won't answer the phone. They cleverly worded their "warranty" to not cover refunds on short or long blocks, which is all they sell. They want you to pay to have their junk engines shipped back and then pay again to have them returned to you after "warranty repairs". I bought a supposedly 5.7 350 along with moly rings and high volume oil pump from Mabbco on 5/9/2022 at the price of just over $1900 After looking it over and checking the toque on the bottom end. I found 2 that weren't correct. I go to install the oil pump and the casting was bad they sent me a new one rather quickly. Once the pump arrives I bolt up my pan check the rockers I prime the motor getting 50psi with the drill. I noticed a few rockers were not getting any oil. This is when I found 3 bad lifters and one rocker arm. No big deal $50 later I'm good to go I thought. I drop the motor in my boat a few weeks later. At this point I have it installed ready to run I get it to start by it idles horribly I double check everything but found nothing wrong. At this point I do a compression test and found that I had one cylinder at 90psi on the left bank the right side was all under 100psi. Fearing the worst I pulled the motor back out. I get to the point of pulling the plugs out and noticed some rusting on several plugs. Take note this motor only has and 3 minutes or less actually running terribly. I at this point pull off the cylinder heads and this is where the nightmare begins. The cylinder heads which are 305 head's supposed to be a 350. Looked absolutely horrible lots of corrosion. (I'll have plenty of pictures at the end) I cleaned the heads and pulled some of the valves and I couldn't believe the terrible valve job that was done along with valves that were pitted beyond use. I couldn't believe I paid money to this company. Once I had both heads off cleaned and inspected I called Mabbco numerous time and emailed them I received nothing. I'm a professional mechanic I've rebuilt numerous motors and have never seen this bad of a job this place should be ashamed of themselves.. I had to replace every valve and lap them in every single one. Please stay away from this company their workmanship is 100% unacceptable along with their customer service. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I ordered a 1981 - 1995 Ford 302 windsor marine short block. What I received was a ford d8ve-6015-a3a. I looked it up on google and its 1978-1980, 302 Windsor small-block, 2-bolt mains. NOT A MARINE BLOCK. and at least 10 yours older. I have e-mailed multiple people with in this company with out a response. I finally called the sales person I ordered to motor from. He said I had to go through the warranty process and good luck. One of the cylinder walls still shows signs of rust after it was bored out 80 over. The crank has hammer marks all over it. I'm guessing because it was ones rusted together. I can add to the long list of reviews that Mabbco is a complete scam. Purchased a 351W with misc upgrades. Took longer than quoted to arrives, many months but the was the least of the issues. Engine break in went fine, after 30 miles a loud piston slap developed, had to break down the engine to investigate. All pistons had a measured 8-9 though piston to wall gap when the Ford spec is 1.8-2.6 thou. Bores are oversized, pistons undersized, just used junk slapped together to look new. Engine had no shot of working properly. Total waste of time and money. read more

I hope Maabco has been taken to small claims court for their corrupt, amateur engine builds. I purchased a remanufactured marine 460 from them and I noticed no oil pumping to the valve train so I took it to a local shop. What they found was straight from the dads shop in the movie Matilda. The oil passage ways on the crankshaft were blocked due to incorrect bearing placement and were marred and scored from incorrect size. Main seals were also damaged from installment and every internal part was replaced except for pistons and cam. After emailing an itemized receipt of the repairs, I was denied any reimbursement since it was past the "90 day warranty". Also after looking them up I'm not the only victim of this. DO NOT BUY FROM MABBCO MOTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They lie. They cheat. They have written such an ironclad contract that they can screw up just about anything or provide you with substandard or outright broken junk and you will still be "at fault". Even if you want to claim a warrantee, they put all the cost on their customers to send parts and engines back to them to fix the problem if they decide to once the receive it. Please read through to find out more but if you don't have the time, then PLEASE listen to those who have been burned by this terrible company and get your engine somewhere else. The engine, a 1987-1995, 5.7L 350 Chevy long block upgraded to a marine engine. This product needed no research but I admit that I did not do a thorough background check on this business until after I already made my payment. I was told, over the phone, that there would be a 6 to 10 week lead time (March 31, 2023) and that I needed to make a written note that I acknowledged this on the purchase order. At around 12 weeks (June 20th) and several phone calls I was becoming very worried that my summer would come and go and I would have no engine. I was very patient and understanding each time I called but during the first week of July, I began contemplating cancelling my order and moving in new direction. Each time I called I was given a new excuse why it was taking so long. They have to buy some cores at auction. The plant manager was out last week. We are under staffed. We can't find any good mechanics. What ever the reason, MABBCO still hadn't done a thing to start moving my order toward completion MABBCO informed me that was my right to cancel but my order (the entire order.. engine core, new parts, labor, delivery!?!?) would be assessed a 20% restocking fee even though they hadn't done a thing except order the parts (allegedly) that would be necessary to complete my remanufactured engine. I was super aggravated but still respectful when I called. They mentioned to me that I was informed by them that it might take longer than 10 weeks. I assure all reading this that I would never have agreed to a delivery that might be that late. I am a boater in the north east and I get 3 months to boat. Finally, I received my engine (July 19th which is 16 weeks not 6 to 10) and 5 days later everything was switched over and fully installed per the Mercruiser service manual with specific attention given to the installation and break in procedures MABCCO sent with my remanufactured engine. Break in day! July 26, 2023 @ 11:05 AM. During the first 20 minutes of break in I piloted the boat very gently, keeping it under 1200 RPMs until the engine was at operating temperature. I proceeded to step 2 which was to gradually increase speed (I did 2000 RPMs) and drive for a bit and then drop the throttle rapidly. This increases vacuum and sets the rings and etc. This step is right out of the break in procedures MABBCO sends. At this point almost everything feels and sounds good excepts for this tiny odd sound I can't identify. YET! It turns out that little sound was the beginning of a blown head gasket. When I was finally satisfied that I completed enough break in cycling (about 30 more minutes), I proceeded to run the engine up enough to get on plane (3000 RPMs). It never happened. That little sound quickly turned into a louder sound and then total power loss. Cylinders 2, 4, 6, & 8 all measured at 165-170 compression and 1, 3, 5, & 7 were 165, 120, 30, 60. WTF! My new freshwater cooling system was blown all over my bilge and after pulling then engine apart I discovered that MABBCO installed a warped head on my recently remanufacture engine. I cannot express how disgusted I am. I have contacted the company once so far but they have not replied (2 weeks so far) . It is pretty apparent base on myself and several others, that poor quality is standard for MABBCO motors so, while you might get a decent engine from them, you just as easily end up with a headache? read more

The engine I got had 2 different cylinder heads that used different spark plugs, Rods were installed wrong and rods and caps were mismatched. They would not talk to me you had to sent a warranty card even know it had not been run!. They refused to pay to have anything done to fix it. Our uncle, with decades of experience in all things internal combustion, received it and found the block wasn't completely clean, old gasket residue remained, and several stripped bolts.. f I could give this company 0 stars I would. After waiting for 4 months I would have expected an excellent skillfully rebuilt motor for my customer with a 68 Ford F100 6.4 390. Instead from the beginning we could tell something was wrong but I literally couldn't come to terms with how incompetent and unprofessional the build was. The motor would not turn over easily with a bar even without plugs which was weird. The heads where torqued to about 50 60 70 and sometimes actually 90 pounds when they felt like it! After having already installed the motor in the vehicle and installed the valve covers with sealant I had to go ahead and do their job for them and retighten literally ALL of the head bolts on a motor that took them nearly 4 MONTHS to build! I was hoping that maybe this would have been the only incredibly annoying issue but oh how wrong I was. Shortly after the motor had started there was a misfire that just never seemed to go away. We timed everything made sure there was good spark and that the cables where good checked fuel pressure. Then finally when we checked the compression on the cylinders we found multiple under performing cylinders as well as one with 60 pounds of pressure. After talking with Mabbco they told us WE would have to pay for shipping to send the motor back. That would cost us hundreds of dollars. So we decided we would find out exactly what they did to us and honestly I wouldn't trust whoever put this motor together to put together a Walmart bicycle I would've had to tear down whatever they sent back and redone the work if I used their warranty. One Piston inexplicably had a had a chunk of it broken off likely from someone forcing it without the proper tools. nearly all of the rings where aligned either incorrectly or, and I kid you not, UPSIDE DOWN. Literally in the box these rings come in there is a picture of how to install them. Just fundamentally incompetent mistakes by someone who should not be touching a motor or at LEAST be supervised and trained by a professional. Stay away and if you don't then just go in with the expectation that someone who is not a professional may have put the motor together and you will need to tear down everything they did like I had to do. Honestly If MAbbco is reading this, I legitimately would have been willing to pay more money if you where willing to use competent personnel and pay them well to do the job. And in the long run this kind of disgusting work is going to lead to you losing a potentially loyal repeat customer like I would have been. I have a small shop and I do this for a living and honestly this has cost me so much time and money that I could have made working on other customers vehicles money that you will never compensate me for. I will never forget what you did to me and I will literally make it a point to make as many people aware of what kind of work you do. My trust in any work from this shop is broken. Unless they either train or fire whoever is building these motors I can easily see you as a company going under. Or even just make fewer kinds of motors WELL and don't be greedy offering too many options for motors that you don't have the QUALFIED staff to make. Mabbco does not provide good customer service. They do not provide functional products. Received motor with lifter bores .12" out or almost 1/8". You cannot run a motor like that. Thank goodness I caught it or I would be out lifters, cam... After filling out 4 pages of warranty claim forms, sending them in with video of the lifters walking around in the bores, I was told that it would be "a couple of days" before someone would get back to me with a decision on whether or not this was covered under their "limited warranty". When I told Austin, their "customer service" rep that this was not a good way to do business, he repeated the "a couple of days" and then told me "have a good day, sir" and disconnected. This is the same Austin who was really nice before I gave them money. When I called back to ask Austin for his supervisor's contact info, he told me "No. I am the supervisor." Then told me to "have a good day sir" and disconnected again. I wish I had read the reviews before buying from this company. Their "warranty" isn't a warranty, it's a firewall to protect them from their own incompetence. That leaves paying customers to deal with the consequences of Mabbco's poor workmanship. This company charged me a restocking fee right after I made a order and had to cancel. So I told them to go ahead with the order and they redid my bill and told me I owed more than the original quote. The difference of the quote was the same amount of the restocking fee which didn't make sense because I told them to proceed with the order, therefore nothing needs to be restocked. I canceled my order after paying $1000 down, they took $425. I should have read the reviews, they have so many bad reviews not to do business with them. So many complaints with the BBB. This was the most embarrassing experience of my life. I bought a crate motor from them in May. I had my certified mechanic install the motor a week later. My mechanic called me and told me that the motor has a hard knock in the crankcase. That is where the nightmare started. I called the company and talked to a lady named Aessha, she said that I could start the process of a warranty claim. I gave her my e-mail and the warranty papers did not come. Only after two more times did the warranty information come in the e-mail. I filled out the warranty information and sent it in. After a week I called them and they said they would get back to me. This is when I started to get sick about the whole process. They said they could only talk to me or my mechanic after hours. They finally got in touch with my mechanic and requested a video of the motor running and a reading from an oil pressure gauge attached to the motor. They did the test and sent the file the next day. We didn't hear from them. After a week of waiting I called and talked to Aesshea again and they said they didn't get the file. Can you see the trend here? We sent the file again and after a week I called again. Well now they say they called my mechanic after hours and he wasn't home. I really don't think they will do anything about this. I'm ready to fix it myself and turn it over to my attorney in Texas. I know they won't pay even if I get a judgement. But I would like to see them in front of a judge. Trust me, this place is very practiced at saying what you want to hear to get you off the phone. Then, they do nothing, they don't replace anything. You are on your own just like when you started in the beginning. Except now you are out your money for the motor, the mechanic, and you still have to fix your engine. My talley so far: $2830 engine, $1500 mechanic, $300 retainer for attorney, and a whole lot of wasted time on the phone with Aessha. Mabbco engines is one the worst outfits I have ever done business with in my life. Ive been screwed hard before but not quite this bad. I ordered engine from website which says like 2 weeks turn around time or so. Like 2 months later I excitedly unwrapped new engine when it showed. Anyone who has done short blocks in boats knows this takes time. Couple weeks later ,on first day out it blows rear main seal, dumps most of the oil all over my freshly restored Mastercraft ski boat, and makes a huge mess. Back into shop. I called Mabbco and talked to Byron to tell him about this. all I got was a claim form. Now its the end of fall in Wisconsin by the time I can get boat back in water. It ran absolutely perfect for five hours before it tried to bend a connecting rod around the crankshaft. With a grand total of 6 hours running time, like a case of engine oil, lots of elbow grease and degreaser,hundreds of dollars in engine gaskets,barely 3tanks of fuel, and many hours of labor and frustration MABBCO ENGINES is saying piss off! Ok so here we go. I have a dodge Dakota with the 5.9 MAGNUM in it. I had to put this in caps because it's relevant. So here's the deal I bought an engine rebuild for the magnum engine. After something like 2 weeks late my pistons finally show up, I take them to the machine shop to have them pressed on the rods and immediately the machine shop tells me they are the wrong pistons. After doing my own research they are indeed the wrong pistons they are the early pistons for a non magnum engine. Which WILL change compression ratio horsepower toque curve etc ( also confirmed by both my machine shop and piston mfg) so I call man do about this and they tell me "well that's the pistons we use in our rebuilds" I inform them they are the wrong pistons and I would like them to send me the CORRECT pistons that I paid for ya know since it SPECIFICALLY asked me for the year of the vehicle I assumed I would be getting the correct parts. That was MY mistake. So I get some fella named Austin on the phone figured we could come to a middle ground and all he kept telling me was well those are the pistons we use for our rebuilds. So I ask him "okay so every magnum engine you are rebuilding using the wrong parts?" He again informed me they were NOT the wrong parts even after I confirmed with the manufacturer they were indeed the wrong part. All I wanted them to do was send me the correct pistons for the magnum engine that he says they don't offer. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and Austin tells me well sorry I'm as close as you're gonna get so obviously not getting anywhere with this dude and his "correct" pistons I told him look man I'm gonna leave a bad review on this and how's this champ handle the situation oh you know the only responsible way there is and he hangs up on me and still never got the correct pistons I paid for. Kudos to you Austin for being such a stand up representative for your company!!! read more
