As a near 30 year Harley Rider, it pains me to have to warn folks away from the local Lone Star Harley Shop. If I could give less stars, I would. Nothing is worse than getting billed for work not done, but it is compounded by changing prices along the way, as well as cavalier attitude when issues presented to Lone Star staff. My wife's 2008 Nightster needed new tires, an oil change, and an inspection for a Sturgis trip this year. They quoted a price and said they would do the work in 2 days time. She called 2 days later and they hadn't started on it. Then, when they told her it was done she came to pick it up and noticed the inspection was not done but it was billed on the ticket. They went and slapped the inspection sticker on while she waited, but the quoted total had gone up as well. They said it was an honest mistake on the tire price, so she paid it and moved on. Thankfully we only drove the bike straight home and up onto a trailer for Sturgis trip, as when I got to Sturgis and checked the oil, none was found. Her little sporty took 2 quarts to get full enough to ride, and it only holds 2.5 quarts total. The evidence indicated they had not changed the oil filter nor the oil, but must have drained it as it never read low before or since. I made them aware of this multiple times over multiple months, and no one cared at all. After pressing the issue as I purchased more HD oil to do my own oil change on her bike, they called me today, only to accuse me of lying about this issue and refusing to refund any part of the work not done. I highly suggest STAY AWAY FROM LONE STAR if you want actual service, unless you approve of changing prices, billed work not getting done, and no sense of duty to correct mistakes on the part of the staff. I will find another source for HD parts, and sadly, I will never return to the store I worked at 30 years ago. read more

I had occasion to need a new helmet, and sizing for me is an issue. I happened to be served by Lauren. I could not have possibly expected a better experience than having her work with me on sizing, ordering, and follow-up when I returned to pay for and receive my new helmet. I had the 25K mile service done on my '13 Road King at Lone Star Harley-Davidson and bought/replaced the handle bars. Everyone I dealt with there was friendly and professional. Towed my bike in for a no start issue. It took over a week to get in. I live in Austin so I couldn't wait for it. I sighed a paper approving 1 hour of diagnostic. $113. One it got looked at I got a phone call saying it's all figured out and it would be $340. I was fine with that. I asked for a breakdown of the charges. The part is $10 labor is 15 mins so I guessed $40 and 3 hours for diagnostic. I asked why 3 hours for diagnostic and the service guy told me it took them 3 hours to figure it out. I only approved 1 hour. I never received a call for a approval on more time. I spoke to a manager she called me 10 mins after I spoke with the male. She said that I was right that I should've been notified but I would still have to pay for that to fix my motorcycle. I asked how much would she charge if I didn't have them fix it. She said 113. I requested them not to fix it and I'll pick it up. And the took my windscreen off for some reason. To take the fairing off of a 2011 road glide it doesn't require the windscreen to come off. And it was missing 2 bolts and 1 of the screws they put in wasn't the correct one. They took off both of my hand controls and they didn't properly secure them when reinstalled. The side with the throttle was loose and moving. This was my worst experience at a Harley dealership. I'll never go back after this. read more
