They ended up charging nearly $700 and the invoice had no amounts listed for each task which is deceiving. I fell for those glowing albeit suspicious 5 star reviews that overshadow the negative ones. Make sure they tell you the prices up front. Had I known all the other charges they added after they got here, I would have never booked them. I love supporting local businesses, but not ones that knowingly take advantage of people by not being upfront with costs so we can make an informed decision. No mention of any other fees when I made the appointment. I called several other locksmiths after to check and sent pictures and was not quoted more than $200 to $250 all in for what they charged nearly $700 for. They took advantage. I now notice they arent BBB accredited and I understand why bc that requires a company to "operate honestly and with integrity" along with 8 other standards and when you bait and switch people that wouldn't be possible.

In this instance I needed deadbolts swapped out and upgraded from the old school manual to newer digital version. The newer version had a larger deadbolt Than the one currently installed on my doors, this the hole had to be re-drilled larger. I was not comfortable doing that. Gary had straight forward pricing and was very easy to schedule. Other places tend to have hidden fees and end up charging you more than originally quoted- so their prices seem cheaper upfront to get your business but ends up being more expensive. After Gary updated two deadbolts to the digital versions the price came out exactly as quoted. He also rekeyed everything on the same key in the event the key is ever needed. The price came out exactly as quoted. Beyond price he is just a super nice guy and clearly an expert in his field. Highly recommend Gary for any of your lock or security needs.

I highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. Their level of customer service and communication is…read moreexcellent. I called them hoping for a same day appointment. It was late in the day because the original company I called was a no-show. Chicago Locksmiths said they could do it and gave me a same day time window. Excellent communication: The technician called me at the start of the time window to tell me he was on another job, but would be there within 2 hours. This allowed me to get on with my day rather than waiting by the window/the phone (as the other company had left me to do all day). The technician then called me when he had finished the previous job and gave me a time frame of when he would get to me. As it was quite late I decided to reschedule for the next day. The same evening Chicago Locksmiths called me to confirm a next day appointment time. On the morning of my appointment the new technician called to say he was on his way with an ETA for arrival and called when he reached me. The communication was excellent and meant I could do other things because I knew Chicago Locksmith was keeping me updated on the status of my appointment. For the appointment itself, the technician was great. Explained everything, gave me advice on one of the doors which was coming loose off the hinge. Re-keyed my lock quickly and cleaned up afterwards. I will certainly use Chicago Locksmiths again. Great service, and impeccable customer communication!

Perhaps he is of Irish heritage, I never had the opportunity to find out 1) I have seen over 300 photographs of his work This man is the very BEST if you are only looking for a handyman or have no assistance from even an essentially useless husband in the paint or a long hair clogged shower drain 2) Shay is a LIAR I appreciate that he was willing to drive out to The suburbs of Chicago from all the way East in Logan Square His estimate is NOT free as Yelp guaranteed He requires photographs (easy peasy) of the locks as well as *$45* to even come out to take a look He broke the Yelp Guarantee right there Chicago Locksmiths should be banned from Yelp same as nobody should have voted for Trump. There were zero good choices but at least ond was NOT a babbling dementia suffering 90 yeat old 3) Shay claims the his primary concern is home and auto safety If that were actually true then with photos in hand he has zero reason to have a $45 fee to take a look I have zero reason to take issue with Shay - especially his quality of work All that I know is that Shay LIED to Yelp in order to gain business and if that works for him, then I do not give a fxck I shall not be used I have Elite and All-Star status that I EARNED with Yelp and followers Every single one of my Yelp reviews are shared with Google I sincerely hope that my review discourages anybody and everybody from hiring Chicago Locksmiths

Several other locksmiths turned me away and treated the situation like I was trying to break in, even though this is my own office building that I rent. He came out, verified the situation, and professionally picked the lock without causing any damage. That was a huge relief because many locksmiths would have drilled the lock, leaving me with the extra cost of replacing it and preventing others from continuing to use the same lock. The total cost was $195, and that included three additional keys at no extra charge. He saved me money, protected the existing lock, and provided excellent service when I needed it most. He was professional, fair, and went above and beyond on a Friday night emergency call. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a trustworthy locksmith!

I picked up an older and quite rare car in Chicago and planned to drive it back home to NYC from Highland Park. I collect old cars and I already knew that keys for this car would be a challenge to find. The door locks were not working and I was worried about driving home and/or parking the car outside without being able to lock the car. I called a few local locksmiths who didn't want or know how to fix this. When I called Karl on the phone, he offered advice on how I might be able to fix this myself. It was a holiday weekend and, when my own efforts didn't free the locks, Karl made the time to come out and open up his shop. He stayed late on a cold and rainy night to make sure that we got everything sorted before my trip the next day. Karl was friendly, helpful and resourceful. He explained exactly what he thought it was, what he could try, and why he thought it would work. The locks had heavy corrosion and had not been used in a long time. Karl carefully disassembled the lock mechanism, got it to work and was able to get me back on the road safely and securely. Karl was a great find and I appreciate his dedication to go above and beyond to make me feel safe.
