Amazing. I heard about this place for years and it has always been on my bucket list but due to time and location I could never get there and try their donuts. I finally was able to visit the place today and it is worth all the hype. The lady behind the counter was very kind and happy to fill out my order. She answered questions concerning the donut types, and when I forgot to ask for a receipt she gave the store printed receipt. She even added a handful of donut holes for free. A wonderful woman indeed. I chose a half dozen to take with me. The were so delicious that I could not stop eating them. Each standard donut were light and airy. An easy chew that made it pleasurable to eat. They were: 1) Glazed donut - A lightly sweet glaze without being too sweet. 2) Chocolate covered glazed donut - Soft sweet chocolate flavor that washed over the and melted into the donut flavor. 3) Butterscotch covered glazed donut - As soon as you bite into the butterscotch you can tell the rest of your day will be as sweet. 4) Cinnamon glazed donut - Before biting into the donut, you can smell the cinnamon, and it permeates your mouth as you devour this pleasant donut. 5) Chocolate glazed sourdough donut - a thick rich cake donut batter that is extra crunchy. Not too sweet but very satisfying. 6) Vanilla glazed cake donut - as with the sourdough donut, a thick but soft cake batter that was not too sweet but you could tell that this was a cake donut. Overall, a check mark off the bucket list and a place I would highly recommend to anyone that wants delicious donuts.
Super small and cute. A lot of orchids, definitely feels like a small family business! The service was great, the lady was an older Asian woman who was super sweet and answered all our questions. She also gave us a free donut! The donuts are super soft on par with a fresh Kristy Kreme donut without all the sugar! Krispy Kreme and Dunkin are usually sickly sweet for me but this place I was almost about to eat the whole box before my husband stopped me! My favorite was the Maple! Literally tastes like pancake!
Delicious. Bacon. Donuts. Super efficient and pleasant lady behind the counter dishing donuts. No frills. Don't need em. The donuts speak for themselves. Good coffee too!
What a great local donut shop serving the Pineville area. I needed something to take to the office for a meeting so I looked up and saw the reviews here and thought I'd come in. Super nice lady probably the owner was serving up the donuts that they baked fresh every day so I picked a couple of dozen and said mix it up and I got some really good fresh donuts and some free donut holes to serve to my colleagues. They were quite happy! The maple doughnut dipped in bacon bits was fantastic as was there plain glazed and chocolate glazed According to the crowd. Great value with excellent service and even picked up 10 or 12 bottled waters so this was great for me to take to the office for this training class. This is near my new headquarters so I will be back as I only have a Krispy Kreme near me which I love, but this local place really hit the spot. Thanks for a great job

I happened upon this place the other day and was really impressed with the fresh & delish doughnuts. They have the big yeasty kind as well as the cake kind. I prefer the former rather than the latter type. For my splurge, I decided to go for a glazed with chocolate icing & sliced almonds on top. It was yummy! I also got an apple fritter for David since that is one of his favs. They also threw in a few donut holes in the bag, which was a nice treat. This place is dangerous if you are trying to count calories... but a great find if you are looking for a good doughnut! read more

Came to get a donut with the hubby. The donut was delicious. It was a Sunday around 11:30 and it still had a decent variety. The owner was really sweet and gave each of us two extra donuts complement of MJ Donuts. Their prices were great, an average price for donuts. The whole shop was very clean. Their welcome sign was a cute personal touch. You can see that this is a local go to place. read more

This place is a little tucked away in the shopping center and I had to drive around quite a bit before locating it. I came around 11 and there was still a good selection of donuts. The lady behind the counter was friendly and recommended to me the popular flavors as it was obvious I had never been here before. There is a fixed price for a dozen donuts (around $14) but any fewer, you have to pay individually per donut. I went with the apple fritter, cinnamon roll, cinnamon glaze donut, coconut donut, sour cream donut, and blueberry cake donut. I was pleasantly surprised when the lady told me she'd throw in 2 original glazed and a chocolate glazed cake donut for free! Here's my ranking in order of decreasing preference: - apple fritter: large, cinnamon-y and with the most flavor and glaze (but could do with more apple chunks) prob the best in CLT - sour cream: very moist (sorry) and just so good - original glaze: pillow soft, very light - blueberry cake donut: tastes like a blueberry muffin with glaze, really sweet - cinnamon roll: pretty average - coconut: good if you like coconut - cinnamon glaze: tastes like the cinnamon roll in donut form - chocolate glaze cake: cake donut itself was a bit too dry and icing ratio was off Overall, for 9 donuts I paid less than $10, which is solid and much cheaper than "trendier" establishments. I also like that most options, especially the yeast donuts, were super light, soft, and airy so I didn't feel extremely gross and heavy after eating them. I wish they had more unique flavor combos; they seem to just stick to the classics but they do it well. There are a few tables inside too, but the place is pretty sparsely decorated. read more

Ma'am step away from the donuts! Does anyone know when they started spelling doughnuts, donuts? I couldn't find MJ's because I was misspelling donut. Jeez, this is complicated. I heard there was a doughnut shop in PIneville, so I went searching for it. It is in the Food Lion shopping center in Pineville on 51 and Polk, it is facing Polk on the other side of the shops, very tricky. Once we found it, we went barreling in there. Fresh donuts made with love. The lady behind the counter was really nice too, she gave me some doughnut holes with my sour cream doughnut. Delicious and nutritious. read more

Wow. Like...SHUT the front door...WOW! This place is awesome! And by far has some of best apple fritters I've ever tasted! Yep. I said it and I mean it! I stopped in a little after 8 am on Saturday morning (yes they are open on the weekends) and was pleasantly surprised with the service and selection. The staff were all super friendly! They greeted me when I walked in and gave me free donut holes with my purchase! Since you have to spend $5 to use your credit card I went crazy with my order (it makes me feel better to blame someone else for my greediness) I got a couple of apple fritters, cinnamon twist, some donuts and a coffee. Holy Smokes! Everything was divine! So soft and still warm you could tell they had just been freshly baked! But hands down my favorite was the apple fritter! First, it's huge! Second, it's crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside with chucks of apples and all that glorious glaze....finger licking good! Please don't be like me and wait over a year to try this place. The prices are super reasonable and it's just so freaking good! You won't be disappointed! I'm just so glad this place isn't any closer to where I live because it would be seriously detrimental to my waistline! Ha. read more

I used to go MJ Donuts faithfully before moving to GA. Now that im back home I can visit more often. I have been to other donut shops but MJ Donuts are so good!! The owner of the shop is one of the sweetest ladies you'll meet. Not only are the donuts delicious but you also get a free bag of donut holes. The staff overall is very nice and professional. The shop is very neat and well organized. I tried the maple bacon donuts and OMG!! They are awesome! I also got the cinnamon roll donut and that donut is huge and delicious. Maybe you guys can expand your franchise in more areas of Charlotte. Although familiar with the area of Pineville, I don't live very close by but the drive is definitely worth it!!! read more
Mind = Blown! The doughnut holes from this hole in the wall; there just aren't words to describe these little bites of heaven! With each bite, an angel gets its wings! Shoutout to Charlotte Agenda! Had it not been for their article on the best doughnuts in Charlotte, I'd have never known about this apparent Pineville staple! Now, I'll never forget! Tucked on the backside of a brick shopping center, it can be easy to miss. If you use GPS, you'll be directed into the Food Lion shopping center, left feeling confused. Trust me, it's there. Just drive around the side of the center that faces the opposite street. Once you walk into this modest establishment you are greeted with two cases of freshly made doughnuts and the smell of sweet glaze! They don't have the massive variety of a typical doughnut chain, but they have the basics. Quality over quantity wins here, for sure! Each doughnut just melts in your mouth! Easily the best Boston Cream....EVER! For me, the best part was the doughnut holes. Even better, they are FREE with any purchase! That's right, FREE! They have bags and bags of them waiting next to the register. Once you pay, they give you a little happy sack of puffed pastries to enjoy all to yourself. ...I mean, to share with your friends... I've gotta run now....I think I need a doughnut... read more
Not a huge donut fan but the donut holes are pretty addictive...which is very dangerous! I also tried the shredded coconut since I LOVE coconut. It was pretty good. The Boston cream was delish also. But I could only eat a bite of each...I think that gave me all the sugar I need for the rest of the week. read more
Sometimes you happen upon a little storefront that brings back happy childhood memories - and this is the place! I grew up not far from a little mom & pop donut shop that made amazing fresh donuts that basically spoiled me for life on Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. After moving away I missed the smell and taste of fresh donuts - until I found MJ's. The staff are friendly and the selection is great. My personal favorites are the donut holes and the apple fritter (and a sausage croissant to even out all the sugar). If you are looking for light and fluffy homemade wonders look no further than MJ. read more

I hate to be a downer because the doughnuts were actually pretty good. They just weren't anything unique or special. I did enjoy the blueberry cake with blueberry frosting, and I typically don't like cake doughnuts. The lady behind the counter was a bit brusque, especially considering it was 4 pm and no one else was in there. The doughnuts got much more interesting after 10 seconds in the microwave. read more

I live in Rock Hill and wanted some donuts but didn't want Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. Luckily, this place popped up Yelp so I had to try it out! Drove 18 miles to this whole in the wall, and got there around 10:00am. The place is pretty small so it got very crowded quickly. So I got the maple and Boston creme donut, and they were delicious! They weren't hot but maybe if I got there a bit earlier, I'm sure they would've been. The dough was very soft, almost melted in my mouth, and the custard in the Boston creme was sooooo yummy. Wasn't too sweet, just perfect. I would definitely go there again! read more

This old school doughnut shop has some of the lightest (in texture) doughnuts I've had. The variety is just right with many standards such as glazed, sugar and chocolate covered as well as ones like bacon sprinkled. There are also filled, cinnamon rolls, sprinkled and even muffins. Fresh brewed coffee is available as well as bottled drinks. In addition, they give free doughnut holes with purchase. There are also plenty of tables to sit and enjoy a fresh doughnut. read more
Finally the gods smiled upon me!! Got to try the famous apple fritters. I have officially coined them the "Godzilla" fritter. Let's make that trend! My wife is in love with these donuts and she's celiac! But totally committed to getting sick to enjoy the lemon filled and Boston cream. A hidden gem in Pineville. read more
