This is my favorite donut ship in Charlotte (well, Pineville). It's a small, no frills, mom and pop kinda spot. Be advised they close at 12pm. It's located in a strip mall, right past food lion. Walking in, you're hit with the yummy aroma of fresh baked goods. They offer donuts, cinnamon rolls and apple fritters. There's a wide assortment of flavors. Everything from glazed to filled long Johns. The prices are crazy cheap. Less than a dollar for donuts, and $2.05 for cinnamon rolls and apple fritters. They always throw donut holes in the bag at no charge, love that! If you're paying with a card, there's a $5 minimum purchase. So, if you're in the area, stop by. They sell out fast on the weekends. What a great little place. Local mom and pop hole in the wall type place. Had a good mix of donuts left, even when we got there at 11:20ish on a Saturday morning. We wanted to be good so only let ourselves get one each. The hubby got the maple bacon one and I got the sour cream glazed. They throw in free donut holes into your bag with your order which is cute. The total came to just over $3. The maple bacon was light and fluffy and the bacon flavor was great with the sweetness. The sour cream one was deliciously dense and caked in comparison! I happened upon this place the other day and was really impressed with the fresh & delish doughnuts. They have the big yeasty kind as well as the cake kind. I prefer the former rather than the latter type. For my splurge, I decided to go for a glazed with chocolate icing & sliced almonds on top. It was yummy! I also got an apple fritter for David since that is one of his favs. They also threw in a few donut holes in the bag, which was a nice treat. Been on a donut kick lately so, on a Friday morning, I decided to pop into this popular little Pineville shop while I was in the area to see what it's all about. The interior is as flashy as its nondescript exterior, which is not at all, but as warned by fellow Yelpers, the case was half empty by time I arrived at around 10:00. Fortunately, there were a few maple bacon donuts left so I went with one of those, along with a chocolate frosted cake donut and a couple of the most gigantic apple fritters that I have ever seen. The nice "donutista" server even tossed in a few donut holes on the house. Total damage: A modest 7 bucks. Righteous! The fritters were had the perfect crunchy outside and soft inside. The donuts were also moist and tasty. The maple bacon consisted of a yeast ring generously topped with bacon crumbles and the donut holes were light, airy and perfectly frosted. This place is a little tucked away in the shopping center and I had to drive around quite a bit before locating it. I came around 11 and there was still a good selection of donuts. The lady behind the counter was friendly and recommended to me the popular flavors as it was obvious I had never been here before. There is a fixed price for a dozen donuts (around $14) but any fewer, you have to pay individually per donut. I went with the apple fritter, cinnamon roll, cinnamon glaze donut, coconut donut, sour cream donut, and blueberry cake donut. I was pleasantly surprised when the lady told me she'd throw in 2 original glazed and a chocolate glazed cake donut for free! Here's my ranking in order of decreasing preference: - apple fritter: large, cinnamon-y and with the most flavor and glaze (but could do with more apple chunks) prob the best in CLT - sour cream: very moist (sorry) and just so good - original glaze: pillow soft, very light - blueberry cake donut: tastes like a blueberry muffin with glaze, really sweet - cinnamon roll: pretty average - coconut: good if you like coconut - cinnamon glaze: tastes like the cinnamon roll in donut form - chocolate glaze cake: cake donut itself was a bit too dry and icing ratio was off Overall, for 9 donuts I paid less than $10, which is solid and much cheaper than "trendier" establishments. I also like that most options, especially the yeast donuts, were super light, soft, and airy so I didn't feel extremely gross and heavy after eating them. I wish they had more unique flavor combos; they seem to just stick to the classics but they do it well. There are a few tables inside too, but the place is pretty sparsely decorated. read more

We drive up to Pineville from Columbia, SC once every few months. More often than not, we stop as MJ's when we come up early. These donuts are great! Fresh and tasty. When warm, they melt in your mouth. Our girls love this place. If there is a draw back, it is that more variety could be seen. I used to go MJ Donuts faithfully before moving to GA. Now that im back home I can visit more often. I have been to other donut shops but MJ Donuts are so good!! The owner of the shop is one of the sweetest ladies you'll meet. Not only are the donuts delicious but you also get a free bag of donut holes. The staff overall is very nice and professional. The shop is very neat and well organized. I tried the maple bacon donuts and OMG!! They are awesome! I also got the cinnamon roll donut and that donut is huge and delicious. Our favorite doughnut shop in the Charlotte area! So glad we found this place. Despite that the shop was within 15 minutes of closing, they still had a large selection of doughnuts. Their cake doughnuts were really like cake, not dense, dry or crumbly. I had a blueberry cake which was not just made with a blueberry cake mix but also topped with a not too sweet blueberry glaze. Their filled, raised doughnut was large and filled with a wonderful vanilla cream as the the raspberry filled doughnut.
