I went in on a random Sunday didn't have to wait long for a table of two which was nice. The look of the place is very homey and cute and they very much so know for what type of aesthetic that they want. When it came to the service I would say average, nothing wow nothing to complain about. Then when it came to food that's where everything became "meh". My friend ordered his eggs over medium they came out completely hard. The French toast we ordered was so dry that you had to drown it in the syrup so that it was enjoyable. Then my potato's were most likely the most bland seasoned potatoes that I had in a while. My most recent visit to M henry was great. We were seated quickly, coffee arrived quickly, the waiter was attentive and got our orders including customizations right. The menu is creative brunch and lunch so be willing to venture outside your comfort zone. The food arrived fresh, hot, and flavorful. All in all a good experience. However, as you can imagine, this requires that the team is working together to deliver a good experience. That is not always the case with M henry. I've experienced times when the team is not in sync and the experience can go south very quickly. When the food isn't right or the service isn't up to par, they have a hard timing fixing the situation and often make it worse. The restaurant is fairly large with tables packed in tight and has a casual, easy going atmosphere. The menu runs from sweet to savory and everything in between. The fried egg sandwich and blackberry bliss cakes are both outstanding. I had the later on my most recent visit - three thick pancakes with layers of mascarpone cheese in between piled high with fresh blackberries. I'm drooling all over again just typing it. I'm a control freak, but this time for brunch I let my friend pick and she chose M Henry. I was excited she picked a place outside the downtown area. Parking was a little hard at first, but I was able to find some non metered side street parking a block away. We went for brunch around 11:45 on a Saturday and only had to wait 5 minutes. Once seated our server came over right away and we placed our non alcoholic drink orders (place is BYOB) and an order of the cinnamon French toast to share. OMG that French toast is soooo good! It's comes with sweetened cream cheese in the middle surrounded by fresh fruit. It is a must order. For my meal I had the fried egg sandwich and it was good. The side of potatoes it came with were my favorite cause they were seasoned perfectly. My friend ordered the drunken eggs entree with the black bean cakes and she enjoyed it. What makes this place 5 stars is the quality, portion size of food, and the prices. We ordered a coke, apple juice, and 3 plates (which were all delicious) and our bill came to $40. I've been to M Henry quite a few times before COVID. Just came again today after a long while and was thoroughly disappointed. I remember everything being delicious before, but the fried egg sandwich today was not anything that I'll be coming back for. The bread did not appear to be toasted, but it had it was toasted enough that it was pretty hard to eat. There was only egg, tomato bacon and then what seemed like clumps of gorgonzola which was way too heavy so, after scraping it off, really left nothing for taste. There was no type of sauce of anything spread on the bread - just straight up bread, egg, tomato and bacon. Not delicious at all. And if I can add, the sandwich did not even feel warm. Maybe something else is better, but I definitely would not order this! read more

I had a wonderful time here, from when we walked in to when we left. I came exactly at 8am when they just open there door. We were greeted right away. The service was great, our food came right away. I really think everything on the menu will taste good, if you order it. You can't go wrong with the options they have. The food tasted so good. We ordered the veritable vegan scramble and scrambled eggs with cheese and chives. With one of the best fruit cup side dishes we've ever had in our lives. Was it your traditional melon/cantaloupe combo with one or two stray grapes? No, it was mango, blackberries, nectarines, strawberries - fresh, seasonal, delightful fruits. We inhaled both of our dishes, and got a lemon drop cookie to end the meal with something sweet. Was filling, healthful, - $25 or so for the two of us (totally reasonable, if not underpriced for a chicago brunch, amirite?) I love this place. This place is so cute! We opted to sit on the patio, best decision! I got the lemon raspberry French toast and it was delish, a little dry for my taste but still quite good. The best part of the restaurant was the service.. Juan Pablo or "JP" was spot on with his service! I never had to ask for a refill or anything because he was constantly on the ball! It was amazing to watch him be so attentive to so many tables in one sitting. He is definitely an asset to this business and should be told! Brunchin' aint easy! As we all know, brunchin' is rather unpredictable. What I mean is, you never really know when you'll actually be seated from the time you arrive. I totally understand why this place appears as one of the top brunch places when you search brunch places on yelp- they certainly live up to their reputation for quality food. We arrived around 10 am and I asked for a table for three. The host told me that it may be about thirty minutes but that she will let me know if anything changes. The host was very calm and collective despite have a very busy waiting area. The entrance of M. Henry is already so small and narrow that the "waiting area" could only accommodate may ten people tops. Otherwise you have to wait outside until called upon. Luckily we were able to get two barstool seats next to the window as someone was being seated so that we didn't have to freeze outside. I walked up to the host twice- once to ask where the bathroom is and once to see how much longer we have to wait. She was very amiable and responded to be with kindness every time. When you've seen so many faces and they're all asking you the same question- sometimes you lose your patience but she was just so professional. We ended up waiting about fifteen minutes before being seated. Once we sat down, the bus boy came over and served us water. Our waitress came over two minutes later and asked us what we would like to drink. I ordered a half serving of 'out of this world bread pudding" along with three orange juices. The pudding and juices arrived rather quickly and then we ordered our main dishes. Slightly disappointed with the pudding. The strawberries, blackberries and raspberries along with the sauce absolutely soaked the pudding so it tasted more like oatmeal than it did pudding. It was good but it would have been much better if it was less drenched in sauce or whatever it was drenched in. I ordered the Latina omelette, my mom ordered the lemon shrimp and my aunt ordered the salmon lox. While we were waiting for our food to arrive, we couldn't help but observe how the owners of the restaurant had taken advantage of the small space. Every table and chair were strategically placed to allow the maximum numbers of patrons to enjoy their brunch meal. Although the place was packed, it was not difficult to hear the person across the way from you and lead a solid conversation. Our food arrived ten minutes later. The portions are amazing- I didn't want plantains with my omelette so they gave me extra potato wedges instead. I loved my omelette- it is so flavorful but it also had a slight kick to it. I just loved that the omelette had black beans, salsa, cheese and so much more goodness. The potatoes could have been cooked a little longer, they were not as soft as I am used to but still very flavorful. The portions are so big that I had a hard time finishing it and took the leftovers home. The only thing I didn't like is that the bus boys and the waitress were basically rushing us out- they really wanted us to go, go, go! I understand where they are coming from, there is a reason that the wait time is short compared to other places but jeez, let me enjoy myself for 5 more minutes. Overall, highly recommend. read more

It looked and tasted fresh and homemade. I ordered the turkey burger and the same roasted potatoes. The bun was an english muffin which made it harder to eat. It tasted sweet and savory. We had freshly made orange and grapefruit juice and it was refreshing. Sitting is a bit snug but i didn't care because I was bisy stuffing my face with the food. As a lot of people in Chicago, we are spoiled with good food places so we walk in with a high bar to reach. M.Henry meets and exceeds on all measures, service, food taste, creativity and presentation, comfort and decor (French Caribbean). We did half orders on the sweet entrees and had an egg and bacon sandwich, quiche Lorraine and fruit with yogurt as well. It was all tasty. Fantastic brunch spot! Their savory and sweet menu items are al impeccable and top notch! Friendly service as well! We ordered their Salmon Rotolone, Shrimp and Crab Cake Benedict, Pancetta Benedict, and Mixed Berry French Toast! The Salmon Rotolone was very delicious! The omelette was well made and not overly salty or bland, the salmon slices inside were fresh, and the sprouts gave a great crunch and added texture to each bite! The side salad it came with was lightly dressed which was to our liking. It was a generous salad and not just some spring mix thrown into the plate. The Shrimp and Crab Cake Benedict was so incredibly fresh and each bite sent us to heaven! The cakes were not just full of filler like bread crumbs like at some other places, there were crab meat in each bite. The Pancetta Benedict was topped with just the most perfect poached egg! The creamy egg yolk just made the overall dish so mouth watering. The Pancetta was not overly salty and the slice was generous. The French Toast was not overly sweet since the tartness of the berries matched well with the sweetness. The portion was generous and great for sharing with the table.
