I'm so disappointed because I wanted this place to be my "go to" now that I'm in Pickering. The ambiance is lovely, it's clean, organized etc. I went 3x since September for manis & pedis, but have constantly had issues. My nails fall off (as you can see in the photo). The first time it happened it was one nail and only a week and a half since the appt. I went to get it fixed and they charged me $7 for a new nail (I call that out because they don't do fixes for free). The second time it was 3 nails so I complained and they did them for free. The third time I had 2 nails pop off within 4 to 5 days after my appointment. I didn't bother going back! I went to a new place today and was told that it's because the person who was doing them is doing them super super THICK that it leads to the whole nail popping off. Makes sense as I've never ever had these issues in the past 5ish years since I turned to gel. Such a shame because it's lovely inside and does have a soft soothing vibe. So mad :( read more

Stopped in for a manicure last week while on vacation. Service was quick and friendly (by the technician - the woman at the front desk couldn't care less) however, I'm really disappointed with the quality of the "manicure". The shellac has air bubbles on three nails, the colour density is inconsistent and I had to reshape my nails once I got home. It's only been a week and and the shellac is already lifting and chipping. I've had A LOT better for a lot less. I won't be back. read more

Absolutely horrible!!! They use their grater to cut off your dead skin so they go faster. Barely buff afterwards and barely massage when done. Did not notice when I left but the next day when I couldn't walk. I realized, I had 3 cracks on my feet that opened up and a big one on the side of my big toe. My feet were white from dryness after spending $75 plus tip and my hand nails were chipped in 2 days. It's like an assembly line all about money in an out. Go somewhere else. Such a great experience, the staff were wonderful , the nail colour selection was great and the place was beautiful, clean and very zen. It really felt like a spa when you were there. One of the best parts was the hot towel they provide you when you get either a mani or pedi done. I went to get my nails done a few days ago. I needed a biogel refill. I showed a pic of what I wanted. A French manicure with dark tips. She said she could do it. But She didn't do the tips properly. And to make it worse She didn't fix my lifting nails. Told me it's supposed to be like that. There's a space between my actual nails and the biogel. And now 2 days later my nail is about to snap off. She was very patient and friendly with me even thought it was a busy morning and I asked to change the color a few time. This used to be my go to salon for pedicures. However over the last year i have found the service inconsistent. Their SPA pedicure used to be really good where they would soak you feet in a herbal hot water bath. I asked for the spa pedicure and the lady who did my nails barely knew how to massage them and when i asked her she said ' oh i'm new, don't know how'. Ok...but i am still paying full price! So asked for foot soak...took me to another room. Again! the girl doing the massage had no idea what she was doing. I stopped it in 2 mins as i could see she had no clue. I come out and all the other staff start laughing which i thought was totally unprofessional. So i start my fill for my biogel nails. Previouslyy the nail tech did 3 layers of biogel as i tend to break nails. As much as i insisted on more layers than 2...she kept refusing! I got upset and i told her she knew nothing about customer service! What was the big deal to add an extra layer? Gawd! At that point i said just finish it up and get me out of here....another nail tech took over and added extra layers of biogel she was very kind and agreed the fill looked thin and needed to be built up. .i paid full price and still gave a tip as i wanted to take the high road. The manager gave me a 15 dollar coupon to use next time.....there will be no next time as i won't use it! I may give it to someone else BUT I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ANY LONGER. She told me next time she will have someone more experienced do my nails! geez...shouldn't they all be professional and if junior don't charge the customer full price! I found the manager just charges for every little thing. She should have discounted my service for all the trouble i went thru. This is my 2nd and last bad experience with this salon. Their service has gotten worse...yet they keept raising their prices. Ask for an itemized bill as they will just give you one amount and have no clue how they got to it. This wonderful spa just opened in March and it is fantastic!! Stop going to the other places NOW!!!! Clean is an understatement and after going to all of the other nail salons you will be so impressed. The added extras for the pedi make you feel like a queen. The staff is all in wonderful lavender uniforms, so very friendly and will do any extras you request. The BIO gel nails are incredible and the art and glitter dipping is fabulous, what a tremendous job! Cant wait to go back next week for a facial! The best part ladies...its the same prices as the cheap dirty places, and you get so much more...Please go visit, lets keep this place going. I came here most recently with my friends to get a mani pedi on New Years Eve. I'd been here about four weeks earlier to get my nails done for my wedding. I'll touch on that experience in this review too. For the wedding: We arrived at 5PM and it took about three hours for all of us to get manicures and pedicures. Given, there were 5 of us, but I still felt like it took a really long time given that we all had our own technicians. We made an appointment in advance so it was no surprise that they'd be getting full with us there. My pedicure was very good, lasted almost a month (shellac) and my manicure lasted a very long time too (shellac) but I wasn't happy with the color (my fault, not theirs). I do feel like you get less of a pedicure experience here, they don't do a very good massage or spend a lot of time besides on the prep of your feet and nails. For 5 of us, with a few shellac manicures and pedicures and a few with tips, it was about $480 altogether, not too bad. For New Years Eve: We received similar service to that when I was there for my wedding. The pedicure leaves something to be desired, although my toes do look great and she did a good job. I wasn't happy at all with my shellac manicure. The polish I chose was sheer, which is fine, but she did 3 coats and when I got into natural light, I could see that it was streaky as hell. She didnt want to put a fourth coat on but she should have. It's been not quite a week and a half and its already starting to peel off, which is annoying for how much you pay when you choose shellac. I was very disappointed this last time and won't return as I live in Whitby and its just too far to go for a sub par mani/pedi experience. For a $67 manicure, it wasn't up to snuff. read more

Store said 15% off waxing, this is why I decided to go to this location. It is a nice, clean salon. I went to for waxing and decided to try a full arm because I was going to get 15% off right? Wrong! After 30 minutes I was finally done and unaware of anything. Apparently the 15% off only applies for cash payments, well thanks for the heads up! I like honesty in business so I will never be returning to this salon. Plus I've been waxing for years and they have never grown back so fast! Thanks, but no thanks. THIS PLACE HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called to set up and appointment, got there and they gave me trouble about not having time for what I wanted. Eventually they gave me what I wanted. I got a full set. FOUR DAYS later a nail breaks. I call and they tell me they have no time so I go a few days later. She does a sloppy paint job and does a complete different shape. I leave and 20 minutes later a different nail breaks. CLEARLY their products are poor. I paid $60 and it was overpriced for their poor job and customer service. I called to complain and ask for a refund and they gave me some excuse about how their owner was in another country and couldn't do anything for me. This is an establish business and totally unacceptable service. Don't go here. It's not worth it. Oh and the staff hung up on me and talked over me our entire conversation. read more

Checked out this place late Saturday afternoon - it was busy but they accommodated my walk-in appointment for a manicure and brow wax. After reviewing the options, I opted for the "spa" manicure which was $10 more than the regular manicure because my hands were quite dry. Brow wax was done well - she spent quite a bit of time waxing, plucking and then trimming my brows. The wax was a bit hot (she kept blowing on it *after* she put it on) but overall, I'm quite pleased. Manicure was good - the "spa" manicure essentially meant more cream put on my hands, a longer massage on my lower arms (2-3 min) and then she wrapped my cream-laden hands in plastic wrap for a few minutes. Compared to the woman next to me who had a regular manicure, my "spa" upgrade for $10 was not worth it. My manicure was done well, she trimmed my nails, fixed up my cuticles, put the colour on nicely. My only complaint is that after putting me on the dryer for 10 minutes, she said I was ready to go. I questioned this because other places had me drying for 15-20 minutes but she insisted it was fine. I paid, left the spa, got into my car, looked down on my nails and sure enough - there were two nails that marks because they weren't cured yet. They were cleaning up around the spa since it was close to closing time so maybe that's why they rushed me out. Otherwise, I would recommend this place - the price was right (if you don't get the spa manicure!)- the atmosphere is nice - I just know to be more insistent on allowing more dry time for my colour. read more

I did enjoy the atmosphere of this place, but the quality of my nails are not the best! I got a biogel extension/fake nails. On the phone, the woman said they were $55, but when I paid, she said that it came to $70 after tax because with colour it was $63 (she failed to mention that on the phone). I asked for an almond shape, but 5/10 of my nails are oval. I had to refile them once I went home. The nails are thick and many of them are bumpy. I thought I would give this place a try but I immediately regretted it. read more

The spa itself is very clean and very well decorated. My daughter and I both did a French Manicure with Shellac polish. I was an OK job. My heels were still rough when I left the salon. I was hoping for a pedicure that costs $54.00 that it would be done a little better. Also I found the girl that did my pedicure quite rough. I think when you are filing etc that you need to be alittle more gentle. I am giving the 3 stars mainly for the atmosphere, as we liked the decor and the cleanliness. My girlfriend and I got our nails done on a Sunday and one already broke off on the Monday. We then went back Monday evening and the girl redid them for no charge. HOWEVER, another one broke off on Tuesday. Not a very good job considering you're forking out $67.50 for a set of nails that don't even last a day!!! Not impressed. I decided to go get my nails done for the 1st time as a nice treat to myself one day and I saw this place so I went and got them done. I was a little nervous at first and it didn't help that the lady that was doing my nails didn't talk to me or anything she was having a language barrier conversation with another employee. Finally when she was all finished it looked great!! Only problem was it didn't even last a week before a nail popped off!! I went back, no problem to fix it, still looked good, another few days went by and another one popped off, went back no problem, went back again, by this time I'm getting fed up of constantly going back. They told me come back as we will do a whole new set for you. I go back thinking they are going to take EVERYTHING off including the false nails but she only took off the gel she had put on. The false nails were barely hanging on from all the drilling that had been done before. A few days after the "new set" 3 pop off. I'm just livid at this point, so I asked if I could just have my money back because clearly they are just doing something wrong and I called them and the woman started fighting with me over the phone saying no money back we already fix u for free. VERRY!! Unsatisfied I payed 70$ and not even get to have my nails on for a week before something goes wrong. I am never going back! read more

Not returning, did a manikyr gel+ French, paid around $60 and within a few days started to chip away, went back two times. The receptionist/ administrator very rude unprofessional and kept me waiting to discourage me asked me to not use my finger as it was the same one I had to fix two times. Spoke Chinese with the other lady that was doing the work, in front of me. The worst thing is that she lacked so much self awareness that it wasn't even worth to mention it to her. While the spa is clean and very nice, the pedicure I was given was quick and sub-standard. My heals are still hard and thick and they didn't do a good job with using creams to remove cuticle - they just used the utensils at hand. This was the worst pedicure I've ever had and would not go back there! They charge more for other nail salons and even charge you tax even if you pay cash! Pedicure was 30 minutes only which gives you an idea of the rotten job they did. Don't listen to all these reviews - they are from people who have never had a super pedicure. I've been looking for a nice spa to have my nails done and I noticed this place in the same plaza as my husband's music lessons. It is immaculately clean and there is no smell of acetone like some other nail salons. I had a pedicure and reflexology massage on this trip and it was wonderful! So relaxing I fell asleep during the reflexology massage. $60 for the treatment and I came out feeling energized and my feet and skin look and feel wonderful. Its a good spa however, their Shallac nail polish is over priced and often their manicures chip quickly. I also dont like how they almost insist that you get your nails done at the same time as your pedi. I go there to relax, not be rushed. Their pedicures are excellent!!! The best ever. they are relaxing and calming and they give a great massage with them. They have a huge choice of colours and let you take as much time as you need to pick what you want. They are very very clean and very professional and are always happy to see you. I work in the building and have been going there since they opened. Waxing - Be careful. Sometimes when I go there for my eye brows they are excellent. But there is one tech who is not very good. She wears a lot of eye makeup and seems like the youngest there. She has made my eye brows too short and then argued with me that I did it myself. If you get her for waxing leave and wait for another tech. read more

WORST place EVER! absolutely terrible. I went once to treat myself to a nice manicure. It was the 1st time i had ever gotten gel nails before so i wasn't sure how they did it, anyways so they are doing it and they seem to be doing an okay job, but they were not talking to me or socializing at all so it was pretty boring. They finally finish and they look great, i'm happy with them everything is great..except the price. $70 for a gel set of fake nails! that is RIDICULOUS. Whatever, so i pay and i leave. 3 days later i come back because one of them has broken off, so they fix it no problem, i come back a week later a different one had fallen off, fine they fix it no problem..then i had to go back i think about 6 or 7 times..they finally re-did the whole set but the same thing just kept happening. Eventually i'm thinking this is ridiculous, i paid 70 dollars and i feel like i could have spent 10 at Walmart and gotten a better pair. I wanted to speak with the manager so i could get my money back but she said she could not understand me because of the language barrier and to come back when her secretary was there. I NEVER went back to that place again and i don't recommend it to anyone. They are rude and unpleasant, they don't care and they only want your money. read more

Service: Waxing So I have been here a few times before, for facials and waxing and they were average (no problems, friendly enough). I went on June 4th around 10:30. I asked if I could get my arms waxed, they said sure. I went into the room and the woman came in said hello. I asked if they were busy this morning, she nodded and said yes. She proceeded right away, placing the wax onto my entire right arm, it was thicker then the ones I've experienced at other salons as well as from my previous time. She started placing the paper on and ripping it off in very rushed manner. She was essentially hitting my arm (kind of like slapping it with paper). I ignored it at first; thinking she was in a rush but then as she continued it started to hurt and I had to tell her stop. I turned my forearm towards me and noticed bruises. I asked "Did you just do that?" She immediately denied it saying that "how could I do that? Bruises take time to appear" I told her that I didn't see these before. She called in her manager who obviously took her side and they both kept saying that bruises take time to show up. The manager left and the woman continued to say she did not cause them. "They were there before" she added. I was surprised and clarified, "you saw them before?" She said "yes" Then I asked her why she would wax over them so roughly or why she didn't point it out in the first place?" She said she wasn't being rough. She raised my left arm and we both examined it, perfectly fine. She started waxing, this time less rough. Smaller bruises appeared by the time I got to the car. I can't believe the way she waxed and denied what she did. On top of that lying about seeing bruises there before. Why wouldn't she bring that up to the customer or at least be more careful over the area? I tried telling them this. Never going back. read more

I visited M&D Spa & Nails yesterday for the first time because my usual manicurist wasn't available and I desperately needed my nails done. Cindy greeted me at the door and took me in right away. She did my pedicure & then a gel nail refill & shellac manicure. The mini arm & leg message felt so good! Cindy was gentle & attentive. She's a lovely lady & very responsive to your needs. She even suggested a nail colour for me & I enjoyed all the compliments from everyone at a social event I attended afterwards. More to the point, Cindy did a great job on my nails. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. Prices were a bit more than I'm used to. About $70 + a generous tip for Cindy. I didn't notice how good the other ladies were at their jobs - sorry! It felt to me like more of a spa than a nail place. Lots of space, relaxing spa music & simple decor. Bottom line is that I would go back because they're good. read more

I went to this spa on a saturday afternoon with some of my girl friends. We kept talking about the cleanliness of the spa . It is so clean and dosent have that funny kind of spa smell at other cheap spas ive been to. The technicians were friendly and welcoming. Theydid small extra favours ike hanging our jackets up . They took thier time with all of our mani-pedi and were very patient even when we wanted to fix an accidental scratch from the nail polish. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants "the spa" experience. You will love it :) read more
