However, The only downfall that made this disappointing is the fact that they only accept cash (which I never carry) as tips. Also the fact that a couple ladies that worked here were smoking in front of the shop. It looked very degrading when they walked into the shop was when I realized they worked there. I finally gave up trying to support this woman owned business when a basic mani-pedi went from about $27 to $30 to $35 to $40! I believe in tipping well so now this place thinks that a $50 mani-pedi w tip is totally normal. I'm sorry but no. Educators with degrees don't make $25 an hour, LVNs make less than that. That's simply ludicrous to think anyone should pay that much for a service that takes longer than average, comes w a ungrateful attitude by the owner, sometimes isn't a complete job bc they took so long you had to leave, often is a relatively decent job but not spectacular AND you gotta put up with the weird vibes there. No. No. No. We all work hard for our money and if these ungrateful women want to throw shade at ya, walk away with your money and spend it where it is appreciated. Go somewhere else. I had an appointment on MLK jr day this past Monday the 21st and since 4 nail tips have broken off after my natural nails (the acrylic was applied too thin). I do not work a physical demanding job just when I am in my normal daily routine I would look down and see another nail tip on the floor (literally would just pet my dog or put my pants on ect. ! )The girl who did my nails was nice and reapplied the tips for me when I said they were too short which I appreciated. I gave it 2 star because one of the owners Maria has a serious attitude problem. I asked her a question, she didn't look at me and looked at Ana the other owner and answered to her, then Ana answered back to me. This happened three times. Then when I paid and left, not even a bye back. I left a tip, I was respectful till the end, I end commented how beautiful Maria's nails were. For goodness sakes, I know I'm not a regular but be nice to your customers. Her name is Anastasia and when I say she delivered every amount of service to the upmost to ensure that the customer was satisfied before they walked out the door, she's the reason why I kept going back! I wanted to give them a try since they are like 5 minutes from my house. I had scheduled an appt for 10 AM and when I got there to check in, the older lady in the front gave me like a sarcastic tone that they called me twice the evening before and I didn't pick up. Her mask was under her nose and I should have seen that as a red flag. She said that they were going to ask me to come in earlier, but just said it's okay and sat me down in the nail station. I came there at 10 and did not leave until 1pm. The process of the nails took so long and when she was filing down my nails with the machine she kept burning me. I even jumped and moved my hand away that I scared her! She kept putting it on her hand saying that it doesn't cut, but that sure as hell burned! After two and a half hours of just that torture, my nails were looking okay but I kept telling her the things that looked all wrong and she kept telling me that she wasn't finished. At the end of it all, My nails on the right hand came out looking okay and the left one came out looking all lumpy!! She charged me $65 for the set. I left not wanting to return and my fingers all hurt and sore because of all the filing. The lady that did my eyebrows was actually super nice and I liked the way she did my eyebrows. The only thing that I didn't like was that she used my shirt to put the was strips on. Not cool. My nails only lasted 5 days. They came off so easily! I was literally drying my hands with a paper towel and when I looked, there goes my nails! $65 down the drain for 5 DAYS! I kid you not. read more

After reading other reviews and seeing how she rushed through rudely with other customers as well just makes me realize she is a super moody person-but I don't have to deal with that when I get brilliant customer service on a constant level in nail salons on every corner in LA. THIS IS NOT MY USUAL SPOT! HOWEVER I am new to the area so I was hoping to find something local when I don't want to make the drive to West Covina.The pictures are definitely deceiving of the service you actually receive. Called on a Friday morning around 11am to make and appointment for 6:15pm... keep in mind they close at 8pm Needed to soak off, and get a gel manicure I get there at 6:17, and about 5 minutes later I am sat down to soak..... they leave me there until around 7:00pm before they decide to figure out which one of them will do it. They pass me off to a guy in there that I highly doubt is even licensed to be doing Nails. He had to be guided step by step by "kelly" he didn't even know how to full remove the acrylic off my nail he did the gel manicure with an acrylic layer still on my nail. At the last minute he decided to sand it down. I asked if they had color acrylic that I could use on the bed of my nail and do a French tip pink and white on my real nail, Kelly chimed in and said they do. And asked if I wanted that today, I said yes, since my nail will be weak from the acrylic she replied with "well, I don't think we have time for that, that's the thing" Uhmm????? Excuse me? I've never had a shop deny me a service because they don't have time due to THEIR poor time management. I ignored the comment and decided to just do a regular gel French tip, thankfully my nails are stronger than I thought they would be. Anyway, this guy can't even do a straight white line, please see the photo I will attach.., he also had no idea how to locate a clear pink base color. He had to be assisted by Good old Kelly... I got out of there at 8:30pm. 8:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR A ACRYLIC REMOVAL AND A GEL MANICURE!!!!!!!!! My hand wasn't even lotioned or massaged, that was just a basic, BASIC manicure. So I would NEVER do this to a business but this place is beautiful inside and has a great vibe, however the lady who did my nails, Lillit, was doing the acrylic on in a new way I never saw before that was cutting my skin, the chrome she did on my nails peeled back in a day and her over all acrylic structure was bumpy and horrible. After 3 hours there, just for a fill and pedicure, and being tortured I told her it's fine for now but I'll be back for her to fix it. She was cool with it, so after 3 days off watching my nails become seriously messed up, I go back, show her and told her to just fix it and SHE TELLS ME SHE WOULD HAVE TO ASK THE OWNER!! Ok...? Ask! And the owner says they need to charge me $30 for fixing it or whatever. I'm angry AF. But I agree, just want then nice! She AGAIN is hurting my cuticle and leaving with lines in the acrylic. About a month ago I moved to Van Nuys from East Hollywood. I did not know where to go for my usual Gel Mani & Pedi soo I decided to go to yelp and do some research and came across M & A nails. I was soo afraid to go somewhere new because I'm the type of gal that's loyal to my nail salon. I went in and took my chances. Initially I thought it was over priced the total was $50 +tip but once I got there and had the services done I was very satisfied specially because my mani lasted over 3 weeks and that's when I decided ok I'm definitely coming back because I got my money's worth. The location has plenty of parking. The two times that I've been here I've had appointments so I'm not sure if they take walk ins. The only reason why they are getting a 4 star rating is because I feel like it takes forever to get the service done. Also my last appointment was at 11:30 on a Saturday and I got there 15 minutes before and was not passed to my chair until past 11:30.
