Walked in on a weekday morning so there was no wait, and was in and out in about a half hour. I've only gotten a few official manicures before so I have a small sample size, but this was the best one I've gotten! It's been about a week and a half and my nails are still looking great (no chipping or peeling at all). Just docking a star because the technician working on me nicked me while buffing my nail and I started to bleed, and also shaped my nails to different lengths so they're not even (longer pinky and index fingers, shorter middle and ring fingers). No biggie though since the differences in length will be less obvious as my nails grow out. read more

I came in for gel removal. The technician filed off the top layer but tried to rush my acetone soak. Instead of waiting the proper amount of time, she tried to go back in with the file to speed the process- where she was damaging my actual nails. I stopped her and politely said Im happy to be patient and let the nails soak until they come off more easily with less damage. She waited 2 minutes (I had my phone in my lap with the time) and we had the same problem. I really had to stress again that I didn't want to damage my nails and was happy to wait the proper amount of time for safe removal. Needless to say, she cared more about rushing the process than me leaving with healthy nails. Finally she got frustrated and another (more patient) tech- Ivy I believe- finished my service easily- but it was disappointing that I had to advocate for proper removal so much versus that being the standard. They say they can do a nail design (when you ask upfront and show a picture) and then present you with a sticker when you're already in the chair...when i specifically asked upfront after 2.5 hours i told them remove it i have to go. Waited 20minutes despite having reservation made online day before so i ticked off 1 star. Another customer next to me was waiting for almost an hour for their appointment! During off times walk in's seem very doable. I got a design gel mani ($50) with cat eye design and Linda was so great at accommodating. The complimentary shoulder massage at the end also rejuvenated me so much. You can add 10 extra minutes of massage on the massage chair just for $15 dollars too. Everytime I come here a nail breaks within 3 days. I've tried different technicians for some reason when I ask them not to file so much it's like they don't understand or just disregard. My nails are over filed and brittle thin even with a gel manicure and always end up breaking. This place is my go-to nail salon in Williamsburg and they specialize in dip/powder manicures (the only kind of manicure that lasts several weeks on my nails). I've probably had 8 different people do my nails here and have never been disappointed. They also do great pedicures and amazing massages. Additionally, their color selection is unbeatable - they probably have over 200 options for dip/powder alone and I constantly see them adding new ones. My only knock on this place is that they often run late with appointments because they are so busy. My friend and I went to Lys nails to get our nails and toes done and they had a deal for like 58$ for both. We wanted gel which was a 15$ up charge which was fine no big deal buttttttt they took 2 hours on my nails alone..... My nails are short and I didn't get any fancy design I got a basic soft chrome look and my friend who got a design with extra stuff was out of the chair before me which made us late for our appointment. When we went to pay they charged us 100$ each and when we ask why the whole total should be 75$ they said "oh that's not including taxes" "we have extra taxes here" there was no sign nor did anyone explain that to us before we sat down. Lys Nail Spa is an affordable, local nail salon in Williamsburg. They have a wide range of nail polish shades and they get the job done. My nail stylist, CiCi, was polite and friendly. They also have a punch card you can get signed during each visit. After 10 visits, you can get 1 free manicure, eye brow appointment, or a 10 minute massage. Not a bad deal. read more

This place has classic racist energy and the people who work here don't even hide it or care. This was my second time here, and even the smallest missteps will ensure I don't return back. I came in and someone (her name may have been Ivy, I think she was one of the managers) greeted me and said nothing else. She was wrapping up a few things so I waited for her to finish and bring her attention to me. I continued to stand at the front with no further acknowledgment, but a woman of the palm-colored variety came in and stood next to me, was greeted immediately and asked about the service she wanted. I then said, once those two were finished, that I had been standing here so was she (Ivy) going to ask me what I wanted so I could get serviced. Ivy laughed it off, and I let her know that I came in a bit over a week ago and needed two toes fixed from my previous visit. I was prepared to pay for the fix, even though it was initially their fault but I had waited to go back since their salon wasn't in my home neighborhood. Ivy had assumed I probably wanted a free fix and asked if I could show my bank statement detailing when I came to them. Because I planned to pay, I didn't find providing that extra stuff to be necessary and I reiterated that. I didn't really like the tone of the conversation but I sat and waited to get serviced. Ivy had me wait about 20 mins and eventually said she would do the fix. No problem. When I was ready to leave and pay, there was another palm-colored woman paying ahead of me, and she was met with Ivy's warmth and kindness. When I came up, Ivy curtly said "5 dollars". I pay my $5 and she doesn't say thank you or anything. I was so uncomfortable and told her that I've seen the way she's treated other people who don't look like me and the she has interacted with me made me feel uncomfortable and that I found her behavior to be inappropriate and unacceptable. She just said "ok" and walked away. Super unfortunate and unnecessarily uncomfortable experience for me, and we know how these places operate so I guess it's on to the next. read more

I've been getting my nails done at various places for about 17 years. I can honestly say that Lys Nail and Spa in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is the best nail salon I've ever been in in my entire life. I'm obsessed. I'm literally worried about them getting too popular and changing. The staff at Lys Nail Salon are talented, patient, expedient without being sloppy, and they are knowledgeable about nail care. They give free quick massages while your nails are drying, and are easy to communicate with. The space is clean and bright and I've never waited for more than 20 minutes. My nails come out looking lovely every single time. My worst experience was still an 8 out of 10 and I believe that young lady was new, so I forgive her 100%. I'm not going to say anymore. Prices are excellent for the quality of service you receive. There was a small wait even though I called ahead but it was worth it. They have a punch card discount program that is pretty good! The ladies always greet me when I walk thru the door; they are super friendly. The place is clean and quiet. There is always a few women getting their manicure and pedicures done. Everyone looks pleased and calm. No ratchetness or loud chatter in here. Massages are on a chair since they are 20mins long. Can't say that I am knocked out during my massages. I enjoy my massages awake. Nothing feels more wasted than falling asleep for an entire massage. That is the equal of a night of drinking without feeling any buzz. Like what's even the point?! I am up and aware and always more than willing to show Anna where she should massage next. Shirley is good at massages too; I have tried her twice. The MVP goes to Anna, though! Anna is spectacular. It's been a long time since I've had someone as good as her. I praise those hands. I will be happy to spend money; she is worth every dime. They accept cash and credit cards. Points card that they store in a notebook for you. I keep giving this salon more chances and each time they disappoint me. The young women are often rude (with the exception of the older women who do their jobs perfectly). During my last visit, the nail tech rushed through my gel manicure and was very rough. I had to ask her to slow down and loosen the tight grip she had on my fingers. I've been to high end and low end nail spots and this is my favorite place in the neighborhood for sure. It's clean, they always have plenty of employees on hand so there's never much of a wait, they have great prices, and their manis and pedis last forever. I also love getting a quick chair massage as almost everyone I've had is also a super talented/strong masseuse! In fact, if you get a mani pedi combo you get a free 10 minute massage. And they also have a frequent buyer card which, when filled up, gives you a free regular mani or a free 10 minute massage as well. I love that they offer to keep your card there so you don't have to worry about remembering to bring it every time. My one complaint is that their gel polish color selection is a bit limited. But my sadness about limited gel colors is well eclipsed by the little bowls of candy they have for you to enjoy while your nails are drying... no better way to end a pampering session than some mini Swedish fish! read more

Before I go on vacation, I have to wrap up a bunch of honeydoo tasks. One of them is my mani-pedi nail appointment on Saturday. My wife met me in Brooklyn, we had dinner and next door is Lys Nails. I peek inside, its not too slammed so I decide to sit in a massage chair and get my mani-pedi done Friday nite. If there is one thing I hate is chatter while I'm relaxing. The rapid fire conversation between the ladies talking to each other in a different language pissed me off. Do your job, STFU and concentrate on me. Plenty of time to talk in your own language when you close. Its a Spa? Not a card game, that knocked off a star for me. The price for a mens Mani-Pedi wasn't too expensive. The process was quick for the pedi. Throw some more cream on my leg and give me a spa treatment! Again, its a spa. I didn't feel that pampered. Sad face :/ Any spa should love to give a guy mani-pedi. No polish, no wrapping, massage my feets and make us happy. I'm not from the area, I'll never return. read more

Went in for a pedicure and dip manicure and was out in one hour. I had JJ and I will be going back to him. He did a great job plus he massages me well. The price is a little more than what I pay in my neighborhood but this is Williamsburg, and they have me extra treats like, they gave me a lotion as a gift for the holidays, out some hot wax on my ankles as my toes were drying and with the timing it's actually worth it. Not only do they offer extremely reasonable prices on all of their services, but they are also precise and perfectionists when it comes to nails. Also, when I want an extra treat, I get the quick ten minute massage. For 10 bucks you can't beat it! Since it's a neighborhood staple with exceptionally low prices I recommend managing expectations before coming in. If you're in a rush/impatient or if you're looking for a quiet, spa-like environment this is not the place for you. I have to say that while I've been going to this nail salon for a while I am overall disappointed in how they treat customers. There is a lot of side chatter and laughing even at the customers them selves. Yes, there is usually a wait even if you have a reservation. But the demeanor of the staff there is not some thing that I find to be nice at all. Yes it's fairly reasonably priced, but why go somewhere and spend money to be treated that way? It seems as though they think they are doing you a favor. Pay more, go somewhere else, it will be worth it. read more
