Only steep part is the descend down from via verde parking. Make sure you wear hiking shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty because there's a couple of streams to pass through. And dog owners please please bring scoopers after your dogs poop, between horses and dog poop, anyone can stepmom them anytime. So please be responsible when your publicly hiking.

I would say it's steep pretty much all the way but at the top you get an incredible city view. I guess in order to get high up in shuch a short mileage it would need to be a steep trail. It's fairly dry but saw some unique wild flowers. Went on a Sunday morning and only saw one other person so nice little hike and quite safe for social distancing COVID safety wise.

There's a lot of shade, a small playground, and restrooms. This is a horse trail park and known as a photo place. I've come here a few times to take photos. It truly is beautiful. It's pretty calm, quiet and serene due to the low traffic which is at end of a cul da sac. The park has a few hiking trails trail called the Dalton Wash Trail and the Toyon trail which are simple, but at the same time fun. The playground looks pretty new and in good condition. I love how it's covered with rubber materials as cushion as opposed to sand and wood chips. It's cleaner on the kids and safer if they fall. The dog park is also in good condition with shading, seating and a small obstacle course it (sections separated for small and large dogs).There is also lots of natural shading due to the large trees with picnic benches. Additionally, there are also a restrooms on site with a water fountain. Everything about the park is great because it has everything you need within a small space.

There are lots of deviating paths, but you don't get lost here as most side paths are just viewpoints that end rather quickly. I went here with my mountain bike starting from the eastern side of High Country Drive entrance (taking Hunters Trail road). I recommend entering this side as it's easier to go uphill on cement and do most downhill towards the exit of Bonnie Cove Drive. Amazing views at many points of the trail. Some parts, you'll hear the deafening 210 freeway and electric clicks of the overhanging ropes from electric towers. Other areas, you'll be shielded and it'll seem like you're no longer in a city. NOTE: the trail of Bonnie Cove is a little overgrown from the rain, so you'll smack into a lot of tall grasses and it's only like 1.5 ft wide now. Totally fun if you don't mind it. Lots of others are also overthrown, but I don't remember if they had names.

The hike is quite easy (to moderate in a very few places) and it goes up a small hill giving you the panorama of Glendora and San Gabriel mountains on one side and of the San Gabriel Valley on the other. Some shady places where you'll pass under the trees, but mostly it is a lot of open space, so remember sunscreen. The Toyon Trail is a loop, and it will take you between 45 and 60 minutes depending on how fast you go. We saw plenty of poision oak, so beware!

Hey Adventurers!!…read more Booked a canyoneering guided trip in the San Gabriel Mountatins this month and it was amazing. Gear was top notch, guides Sandra and Summer were super informed, and the repels were fun! The adventure started with a hike, and 6 repels later we were smiling ear to ear and wishing there was another 100 ft waterfall to repel. Really can't believe we were so lucky to find this trip which was easy to schedule and go on. Our lives were literally in their hands and I couldn't have felt safer!
