Sugaring is a unique kind of new Brazilian wax. They rub the goo looking stuff against the hair and then pull with the hair. It's almost like if you got a section of your hair just plucked all at once - that's what it feels like. I wouldn't say better than wax but I wouldn't say worse... kind of just depends. I must admit that I was highly satisfied with the overall look of my very first set of eye lash extensions! The experience of getting my first set was not too bad...I felt super relaxed the first hour and a half. The bed was comfy and I really enjoyed the relaxing music they played during the application process. The worst part was the last 30-45 minutes when my anxiety kicked in. Thankfully the girl that helped me, understood and stayed patient with me during that time. So this was my very first time getting eye lash extensions. I do love how put together and awake I look in the morning and how girly and pretty I feel now that I have them. The only thing is that I don't like how they look once they are no longer fresh. Honestly, I've had my extensions in for less than 7 days and I already feel like I need a fill. Maybe I don't personally know how to maintain them yet but I've already lost a few too many extension. I do plan on returning to Luxe Day Spa because ultimately they did an amazing job and treated me with respect and kindness during my visit. This is not a place for facials. I'm assuming all these positive reviews are for their eyelash and brow services, because I had a terrible experience! The room was beside the foyer so it was noisy, and it one point someone even walked in. It was a standard facial, but I was shocked that she was using a scratchy washcloth in a tub of water - on my face!! I also couldn't believe the aesthetician didn't listen to my request for no SPF/moisturizer at the end. I asked her what she was applying last and she said "don't worry, it will help." After I reminded her I didn't want it, she offered to take it off but I could NOT stand to have that rough scratchy washcloth on my face. I'm so disappointed after a very stressful hour! read more

I used to come here for sugaring and they did an awesome job. I stopped coming because I get laser now but I would highly recommend if you're interested in sugar waxing. I did get a facial here once with Jennifer back in 2020 (not sure if she's still there), but my skin looked terrible after. She did dermaplanning and extractions and it was just way too harsh on my skin. I had to go to work (indoors, no sweating, no make up after) after the service but she left this moisturizer on my face that felt like petroleum jelly, it made me break out and my skin looked so bad for a week or two after. So I probably wouldn't come back for a facial. But sugar waxing is great! read more

Thelma gets all the stars!! She's attentive and doesn't make me feel rushed. She remembers you or atleast does a good job at pretending to lol. She's very funny! Now to the stuff that matters: The good: Sugar wax - she took her time, adjusted based on my reaction and provided necessary education. I NEVER BROKE OUT, I remained smooth until my next appointment. I upped the ante and added a mask, I waxed my arms and face the following visit. Maybe two ingrown hairs throughout the whole thing. Covid: they check temp, have clear signage throughout facility and clean credit card after swiping. Great practices in place and make me feel safe being there. The bad : I booked with another person due to time constraints, I was 10 mins late but apologetic and started right away. The process was fine until I saw she was tweezing. She stated she was a perfectionist so I assumed it would be ok, wrong! I am completely inflamed down there, small white pustules , ingrowns everywhere and I'm constantly itching and it burns. When I called all she did was try to push a $20 product on me. No it's not the product it was your technique because this never happened before! Not a bad person and I'm sure she's great but come on. So, I have been coming to Cristina at Luxe Day Spa every two weeks for a little over a year now. I came from a lash extension salon that left my natural lashes in RUIN, I even caught blepharitis (bacterial infection). The moment I walked into my first session with Cristina, I immediately realized that she truly cared about the health of my natural lashes, over the coarse of 3 months she had my natural lashes more full and healthy. I get compliments ALL THE TIME on how amazing my lashes look. I'll never go to another lash salon/spa again. I look forward to my appointments as the ambience is so relaxing and inviting, red wine offered of course. Their microblading results are insanely beautiful ! I went and had a signature facial and dermaplaning. I have very sensitive skin and spoke with the aesthetician before the service and let her know my concerns. She said it would be fine and that these procedures are actually good for my eczema. It took three days for the swelling and redness to subside from my face although I was told there would be no downtime. It's been 5 days and there is still redness to my cheeks and my skin is hard as if there was slight burning. I would not recommend any type of facials or those type of procedures here. The staff is all very friendly and you can tell they know what they are doing and use the products they sell. You feel pampered the minute you walk in. I had my toes done, but they offer waxing and blow outs along with unique services such as eyelash extensions and botox. Go check them out and bring a few friends for an afternoon girls escape. First, if I could have Jen come directly to my home for ALL services I would! She's incredible at what she does and so down to earth. I've never been a fan of their lack of reminders for your appointments or my last experience there. Heather informed the receptionist, as I literally sit right in front of them that she couldn't service me because I was pregnant. The service I was getting 100% is allowed while pregnant and I actually just went somewhere else shortly after to do so. I didnt appreciate, after giving the spa consecutive business the past year, the lack of respect to at least talk to me about it. The sweet, young girl at the front had to scramble to reschedule me. I'm very sad to have to write this but I left the spa this morning in total shock because what was supposed to be a basic eyebrow maintenance waxing literally turned into half of my eyebrows being taken off and a very disproportionate arch. For years, I grew my eyebrows out and always made sure to keep them thick and natural and now they have been completely gutted and it will probably take at least a year to get them back. It's very upsetting because eyebrows frame your face and now every time I look at them, I get upset. Unfortunately, I will never go back to this spa because of the damage. They were very nice and did not charge me because I was literally tearing up when I looked in the mirror but it's not at all about the $20, it's the fact that my eyebrows are basically ruined for the next year. I will probably have to look into microblading as a temporary fix. I'm not sure what happened with the aesthetician, Jennifer, or what went awry or how a clean-up turned into a complete re-shaping of my brows (for the worse) but I can no longer in good conscious recommend Luxe Day Spa for brow waxing. While they're professional, I cannot worry every time I make an appointment if it will come out with a great outcome or a horrible one. Very very disappointing. read more

Sugaring review: I had a Brazilian sugaring appointment last month. I recently moved from Atlanta where sugaring is offered everywhere as much as waxing and I know exactly what to expect. I think it is poor business to charge first time guest more, I was not overdue which is the policy I have seen at other sugaring places. Additionally, once the lady was already sugaring me she informs me that she will not be sugaring all of the area and that will be an additional $10...what? She then explains that a REAL Brazilian is not all of the hair. I didn't really have an option since she had already started so i agreed to pay the extra fee. I expressed my concerns about not being told in advance immediately and they were never addressed. I also found the technician to not wash her hands or wear gloves. I found her entire practice to be full of cross contamination. In addition to being price gouged, I had a ton of ingrown hairs afterwards which is why I get sugaring done in the first place. I went to another salon this week and the technician said my hair follicles were badly damaged. I would give a 1 star but the owner was very responsive to messages during booking which was nice. read more

For $30 (promotion), I got a 60min Swedish massage, and a 15 minute hydro massage. The promotion was wonderful. The therapist was amazing, and was very attentive to my body. I love Luxe! I'm every few weeks to get my lashes done, and I couldn't ask for more. They are professional, fun and always courteous. I get so many compliments on my lashes it's insane! I've been to quite a few lash places, everything from the tech that does house calls to "lash mills" where they circulate you in and out quickly without any conversation. This place is head and shoulders above -- not only do I get a better product that is applied properly and lasts longer, Luxe is a true salon, where they make you feel welcomed, relaxed and pampered. I came here recently for my first eyelash extension experience. I was a little scared but Genie did a fantastic job and put me totally at ease. She is truly an expert in her field. She walked me though that she was doing, as well as how to care for and maintain my lashes. The thought of sitting there for two hours to have them done was daunting at first, but it was really relaxing and I couldn't believe how fast the time went! I just wish I lived in Tampa (I was in town visiting family) because I want to go back! The extensions are a little expensive, but such a treat! This review has nothing to do with my extensions. Dia did an amazing she did exactly what I wanted. My 2 stars for the price. I was told that I was a new lash client from another lash spa and that i couldn't just pay for a regular fill. My lashes were still pretty full when I went in this morning. The person I spoke to on the phone told me that my fill would be anywhere from $50 to $80 depending on the condition of my lashes. When I went to checkout I was charged $90 plus tip left me at $100 for a two week fill. I didn't fight it at the spa bc I didn't want to take away from the work that Dia did. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else but I will not be going back to Luxe day spa for my fills as I feel as I was taken advantage of. read more

**WARNING** This salon is far from deserving a 4 star rating. My Sister-in-Law and myself first visited Luxe Day Spa 5 weeks ago for lash lifting services. Not only is their salon in an inconvenient location, but they don't have sufficient parking for their clients. That aside, post service a few of my lashes were curved oddly, but weren't terribly noticeable from afar so I just figured it was due to being a first-timer. We recently went back in on Saturday (March 17th, 2018) for our 2nd lift. After the service my Sister-in- Law and I noticed more bent and funny ones than the previous time, but the girl who did my lashes (Lexa, my sister's was Pheobe) told us they would fan out over the next 24 hours. The next day I attempted to brush them to fix the damage that was done to my lashes, but they were permed into a terribly bent and unattractive state. This is a $95 service (lift+tint, $80 for just lift), excluding tip, and they WILL NOT give you a refund if they do an unsatisfactory service due to it not "fitting the policy". There are plenty of well-trained associates that do lash lifting in the Tampa Bay area, and for much cheaper. Coming from a licensed Esthetician and Cosmetologist, please find yourself a place that cares about the quality and health of your beauty services. read more

The front desk is very friendly and professional. They get 5 stars. In fact, based on how nice everyone is from the owner to receptionist, I have only been treated with kindness. The part that forces me to give it 3 stars is the actual service. Sugaring is supposed to be less irritating compared to waxing. In the case of the gal who sugars Brazilians, she does an okay job if you don't have a full growth and just need maintenence or if you don't have a lot of coarse hair. If you come in with a lot of hair or coarse hair, you might have a painful experience. You only know that it's not supposed to hurt so much if you have been sugared elsewhere. My recommendation is to only go here if you need a maintenance Brazilian, not a full grown one. read more

I visited this spa back in Jan where I had eyelash extensions. Today, I had the Ultra Peel with Micro and was very pleased with the results I have a little wrinkling around my mouth (nasolabial) and was happy to see that those two lines were diminished. So, I'll definitely be rescheduling in a week or so for another treatment. Overall, the spa is very cute and well decorated. Very quiet, too. The staff is friendly and the professionals providing the services are very knowledgeable. I'm black and to whom this may concern, these guys do know how to care for dark/ethnic skin. Got a facial with "extractions" here yesterday from Heather. Walked out of the place with a swollen, red, angry, borderline-bloody face, but was told it was "normal", and as it was my first facial, I tried not to worry. Didn't go down all the rest of the afternoon. I applied a light moisturizer because I was afraid to put anything else on my face since it looked so tight and raw... woke up this morning with WELTS and SCABS where Heather had apparently done extractions (on places where there were NO BUMPS before). I am obviously furious. Makeup won't even cover these spots. It looks like a 12-year-old attacked my face with a pimple popper. I expect it will take my face about a week to heal after the trauma- and that's including my soon-to-be-scheduled trip to a dermatologist to make sure these hideous marks won't SCAR MY FACE! I have never been so appalled by a "beauty" service in my life and will NEVER return for ANY kind of procedure! UPDATE: I went in to talk to the owner about my face and she told me I was "exaggerating" about how bad my face was, that she gets "resort facials every week" so she "knows" what a facial is, and then yelled after me when I walked out that I was a "crazy bitch." She if very knowledgable about skin care and gives excellent advice that goes above and beyond the facial experience including dieting tips for skin and what facial products to use. The staff is always professional and friendly. I have always felt comfortable and relaxed at Luxe, which is why I continue to go back. They do not take walk ins which allows them to focus specifically or your needs as client during your appointment.
