Betty - Esthetician is amazing! She made me feel comfortable from the moment I met her. I've now seen her 3 times for a brow/lip/nose wax. Getting my face waxed is definitely not the most relaxing thing but she really helps to distract me from the pain by talking about life. My most favorite thing any time I get waxed is the use of the tweezers. It's when I feel most cared about. I hate having to go home and clean up a wax job. Betty takes her time, uses her magnifying light and cleans up what the wax missed. She cares about what she's doing!!! I feel cared about! She's who I'll be seeing for as long as she available. Franky did an amazing job with my hair, even though he was initially hesitant about my request because I had a wedding to attend. He expressed concerns about how my box-dyed color might affect the outcome of the look I wanted. Franky worried that the color might not lift as I desired and suggested a few alternatives. I was planning on coming back to have my hair done here. I had made my appointment almost two months back. The salon called said there was a scheduling error and I would need to reschedule my appointment . This is normally no big deal I get it things happen. But the minute I asked when the next appointment was they were putting me out like 2 -3 weeks. What??? The last time I came in I also paid a lot more for my hair color and cut. The first few times I was charged minimum and now it was over $300. Not sure if the prices went up but it was quite significant than before 3 mos earlier unless they charged me wrong in the first place. So now I have to go find yet another place to get my hair done. The salon looks like the last time money was spent on it was 1983, it's dusty and in dire need of an update. Today I spent over $550 to get my hair colour corrected. Nate told me he owned his own salon, so I foolishly thought my hair was in safe hands, how wrong I was. He was rushed, curt and uninterested, conversation was so difficult and the whole experience to the final walk out still with wet hair after his blow out just summed it up. The salon itself was very nice and loved the ambiance. However, I asked for blonde highlights. I made it clear I did not want anything streaky and I wanted it to be a bright blonde. The stylist recommended Balayage and I told him I had gotten that done before and it came out way too streaky and I didn't like it, but somehow he convinced me to do half highlights and half balayage. I do blame myself because I could have just said no. My hair came out a lot brassier than before and very streaky. Even after washing it with my purple shampoo it still looks that way. Update: Lux contacted me immediately and offered to fix my hair for free. I was set up with Brett as soon as I was available for an appt. The whole staff was so friendly and understanding! Ryan was so nice and actually took the time to explain to me all the details of my hair and the process leading to what I wanted to achieve. Please, ladies and gentlemen, if you can avoid this place, I would highly consider doing it. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm gonna start this review with hands-down. This is the worst experience I have ever had in a hair salon in my entire life, I was able to be squeezed in for a last-minute appt with Andy. I was only going in for a haircut, as I had just colored my hair at home however, my cutting skills are not there yet so I needed a quick trim. I started off the appointment by letting her know that I had just bleached my own hair, so a cut, and a treatment would be preferable, and I also let her know that I was recently diagnosed with cancer, and this was the last time My hair was going to be nice before chemo takes it all. After a couple moments of consulting, she asked me if I would like my hair toned since it was a little yellow. I agreed as this was something I was gonna do at home, but if she was offering, it would be a lot easier. She takes me to the shampoo bowl and let me know that there was a small spot that I missed on the back and asked if she could take care of it, I agreed And not even five minutes later she had bleach on my head. Keep in mind that I let her know that I did my hair, and I only wanted the toner. I asked her to take it off as it started to burn, seeing as I just bleached my hair the day before. Again stated to her I didn't want more lightning. She went to mix up my toner after this, and placed it on my head. She asked the stylist next to us if it was supposed to look green and she said that it would look a little funky until processing. After leaving me for about 10 minutes, she comes back and asked me if I liked my hair a silver or gray color. Initially, I was just thinking that there was a little tint of silver as we were doing a platinum toner, but when I look at my head, my hair is now gunpowder gray. She attempts to wash it off and it is not the blonde that she kept saying she was trying to fix it, and in no way was I rude, but I let her know that I wanted to speak to the manager. The manager Amy was not very helpful either, even after I teared up and let her know that this is the last time that my hair is going to be pretty before my chemo treatment, and she should not have messed it up in the way that she did. She told me that it was the other stylist fault, as she consulted with someone else about formula, again another excuse. She swapped with another stylist, Sarah, who was supposed to "fix it" after leaving me at the bowl for over 20 minutes while they went and talked in the back, they came out and stated to me that the only way to get my color back to the blonde that it was was to bleach it again. No regard whatsoever for the health of my hair. She then comes back and starts putting more bleach on my head even after I said no saying it's ammonia free and it won't be damaging. I made her take it off after five minutes because my scalp started burning, and I now have, aching sores on my scalp from over bleaching at the salon. She kept swearing saying she was sorry, it didn't feel very professional, and it was very uncomfortable. All during this time while she was trying to apply more color, the manager aimee was waving above her, trying to Signal to her about different things, in an extremely unprofessional way thinking I wouldn't see her trying to communicate. Aimee kept saying this entire time just trying to make you happy. Please keep in mind that this wasn't just a haircut or hair color. I didn't like, this was total ruining of the hair. I currently had right before I am having chemo. She got me back to the chair and it took her almost a half hour to cut my hair as it seems she didn't know how to cut. I started crying when I saw the color in the light, because it was a lot darker Then what I came in with, and was very orange. When I asked Sarah if she was going to fix it, she stated that the manager had told her not to and just told her to get me out of the salon. While I didn't have to pay for the service, I did leave crying and it was the worst experience of my life for a hair salon. They did not offer to follow up or fix anything, not that I would want them to at this point. As of now, my hair is completely ruined, and I start chemo in two weeks.. AVOID. Please don't make the same mistakes that I did by coming here. My hair is damaged beyond repair. :( read more

When covid quarantine began my stylist and colorist. Jade from Rabid Poodle had closed shop. I had previously tried for a year to get back in and never received a reply. began to try my own blonding with boxes and my own style cutting by me (had taken classes in the late seventies, changed careers to a defense and aerospace inspector and I'm very picky). I shopped around for a good stylist and blonding professional and found Marco at Lux Spa. it was expensive but not excessively so and worth every penny. Shortly afterwards my employment position was dissolved and funds being tight I had to cancel. yesterday I went back for a haircut to start cutting off the box job I had done and even out my cut and to have another talk about starting the blonding soon with virgin hair. my hair is baby fine and I was concerned about bleaching over it. Marco did such an amazing job with the cut and I let him go a little more than I had wanted to take off. now he says I can start with a foil over it to work to the moonlight blonde I'm trying to get to. I want to keep him secret but I must share. I am so impressed he did everything I requested and more for my being open to suggestions about proceeding. He is definitely one of the best stylists I have ever had I'm looking forward to our heavy foil moving towards my Marilyn Monroe type bonding. five stars to a wonderful stylist and salon and a great secret now shared. I recently visited Lux Salon and Spa for the second time since June. In June I had looked for a salon close to me for a last minute appointment and Brett Happened to be free.(Bonus points for being able to book online!! ) I am SO glad that I found this salon! I have been searching for the last few years for a place to regularly go to get my hair cut/colored... and I finally found it! :) The prices are reasonable, and the decor is trendy and inviting. On my most recent visit (8/3) I had a full foil done, and its absolutely perfect! Brett did a fantastic job of listening to what I wanted, and was able to complete it just as I had pictured! I felt bad that my appointment ran after the salon was closed, however he did not make me feel like he was trying to rush and took his time to get everything done just right. One thing that really stood out on both visits was Brett's knowledge and how he asks a lot of questions about the products that you are using, not to push other products on you.. but to make sure that you are getting the most out of them. Last week, I had my makeup done by Kelsey for my niece's wedding. She did an absolutely amazing job and I got tons of compliments. I never, and I mean never, wear makeup and don't actually own any, so this was kind of a big deal for me. She listened to my concerns and made sure that I still looked and felt like myself--just better=) She was incredibly patient and kind even as I flinched each time she got close to my eyes! *Let me just preface this by saying that this review is not a reflection of my stylist as a person whatsoever* I recently moved down to Tacoma from Bellevue. I've been going to my current hairstylist for about 10 years. I decided to try someplace new as I didn't want to have to drive an hour up north and thought it would give my hair a refresh. First of all, getting appointment at Lux is a pain in the ass as a new client. They want you to send a picture of the hairstyle or color looking to achieve via text, which I understand, but it wasn't until almost 2 days later when I called the salon and asked why no one responded yet the receptionist told me that the phone must be lost and is soon as she finds it she'll get back to me. She got back to me within the hour and we went back-and-forth over text for almost a day. I finally asked her to just give me a call because it would be much easier to discuss stylists and appointments via telephone. I originally wanted a level four stylist but after hearing the prices I settled for a level two. I came in for my appointment at 10 AM this morning and was there until 1:30 PM! I don't have long hair and I was just requesting a trim with a root touchup and some balayage. The stylist, Ailyn, was friendly but awkwardly quiet the whole time she was working on me. Come to find out through some conversation that she's only 20 years old. I don't have a problem with age but this means that she can't have much experience doing color or achieving the look I was going for. When she finished my color and started cutting, she only trimmed it a bit which is what I asked for. Once she dried my hair she brought out the thinning shears which no stylist should ever use! Now my hair is going to be broken at the ends and look frizzy. She styled me and asked what I thought of the color. I told her it looked good but I think I was so comatose because I was starving from being there so long. I went up to pay and the receptionist told me it was $225! I asked her about a trim versus a haircut and she said it's the same thing. It literally took Ailton 10 minutes to trim the ends off my hair. I paid it, left, and immediately went to their website. Come to find out she's actually a level one hairstylist. I honestly have no idea what I paid for. I don't think I've paid that much since I went to 7 Salon in Bellevue Square. A few months ago I had my hair done there and I was VERY upset with the half assed job the blue haired tattooed girl Kelsie .She didn't even do what I asked yet I was over charged for services not rendered. I called and was given a refund, and went elsewhere. Seems like Kelsie has done bad jobs before from the reviews here. Today I made an appt to have my eyelashes filled. When I got there I was brought into a room and told that since I had a bad experience there before they would refuse to do my eyelashes. They claimed they emailed me, which they didn't. What an awful place!!!! 2 bad experiences...they also could have called me, which they didn't do . Beware of this shitty place! I was NEVER told I would be refused service. So, I came in earlier today to have my hair done and walked away totally disappointed. Before the actual appointment when we had our consultation, Aylin and I were discussing what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to go with a silver ombré and also get my hair cut. I told her that I understand it's going to be a process and I'm totally fine if it's not silver on the first go. The important thing to me was that my hair would be lighter, in an ombré style. She booked me for a balayage (which was not what I wanted) but I just figured I'd show her a picture and clarify I wanted that ombré look the day of the appointment. Fast forward to today, I come in and we go over again what I'm wanting to do. I show her a picture of the look I was hoping to achieve (a silver ombré, again understanding if it's not silver the first go) and what I ended up with was pretty much the same hair I walked in with. I felt like she didn't listen to what I was telling her I wanted at all. I'm so sad with how my hair turned out and I had been disappointed half the time I was sitting in the chair. I'm not a confrontational person so I didn't speak up when I wanted to, I just left unhappy. All the good reviews had me excited to come in and get my hair done but my experience left me feeling unsatisfied. I have never been so upset about a haircut in my life.. I've never left a review for a hair salon and didn't think I ever would but I think it's important to share my concerns. First off I give two stars because the place is so clean and pretty, I have had my hair done by Aspyn once and Brett twice. I was happy both times. But unfortunately we all know how it goes, it only takes one horrible experience to ruin a lot of good ones.. I recently went to get my hair cut as a walk in, I was pleasantly surprised to find they had a level 2 stylist available. Started off normal with a wash. Please note that I specifically told this young lady that I'm growing out my hair, I was excited because this is the longest my hair has ever been, which is not saying much as my hair grows very slowly. She asked where I part my hair and I told her often on the side but I like to do a mid part a lot. (This is important as she did not take this into consideration AT ALL). She gave me a trim, not too much length cut off. Then she asked me how I wanted the layers. I told her I'm not too picky as long as they were NOT short and choppy. I also asked her to FRAME MY FACE. She started going at it with the texturizing shears. I mean I had SO much hair on myself and the floor. I started to get nervous but I don't like to tell a professional how to do their job. She started cutting the hair around my face. It got shorter than I like, and right when I was about to say something, SNIP! SHE GAVE ME BANGS!! I got out of there as fast as I could, when I got home, I cried for HOURS. This coming from someone who has shaved off half her hair before, the front of my hair is HORRIBLE. I can't put my hair in a ponytail, because the bangs that I specifically did not ask for, are not long enough. I cannot tuck them behind my ear. I have to pin them back for work like some sort of school girl. I can't part it down the middle because I look like Monica Geller 1993. When I look in the mirror sometimes, it looks like a MULLET because I have the rest of hair tucked back but the stupid short choppy bits are not. I did call back and they gave me a refund. I am still devastated though, because I know how long this will take to grow out... a refund will not cover the cost of the hair supplements and voodoo treatments I'm doing to make this go away faster... read more
