Very positive, warm, and welcoming vibe walking through their doors. Booking online is very simple and straight forward. The salon has street parking, but spots are plenty. The stylists are full of personality and are great at listening to what you are trying to achieve. I've had a few sessions with Heather, and she does a wonderful job! She has my hair feeling healthy and beautiful. Left Coast Salon definitely has my recommendation! read more

You know when you walk into a space and you can 100% feel the vision of that space? That is Left Coast Salon. Faced with yet another deeply disappointing haircut at another salon, I felt like it was kismet when I heard Kristina (the salon founder) speak with passion and conviction about the mission of Left Coast Salon. Education and the deepest of care: That's what I felt, along with a whole body yes and sigh of relief as I settled into Heather's chair at the salon. Heather COMPLETELY listened, educated, and created a space of safety and ease for me as she did her impeccable artistry with my hair. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding because two weeks later and my (naturally multi-textured) curly hair still looks like everything I could ever hope for!! read more

I've been to this salon a handful of times over the years and have become a regular more recently. Each stylist genuinely cares about your hair. The open-concept floor still feels cozy, and the atmosphere is so warm, unlike anywhere else I've been. I've never left unhappy with my hair. If you're struggling to find a stylist, especially for curly hair, I couldn't recommend this place enough. read more

My goodness, what a gem I found!! A spacious space with cozy decor and gentle lighting. I came here to get my hair did by my fave stylist/creator (Sarah) and I was not ready for the transformation my hair experienced. This spot is geared towards educating clients about their hair type and how to use the right product for their locks. My mop went from dry and frizzy to hydrated coils that hold steady and firm. If you need some transformation in your life, you should start here. read more

The only place to go if you have curly hair. I made the mistake of going into Tacoma Curly Hair Salon for a color (it's not that complicated I thought?) since I couldn't get in fast enough here and sheesh what a disaster. I won't ever stray again. This team knows their curls! I will post a few pics of the best color/cuts I've had in my curly life. I've been to almost all of the stylists and they're all wonderful! Such freedom to be in a salon where you can trust every single person to do your hair! read more

I just had the best haircut of my life. No cookie cutter style. Jade listened to my request, took at look at my hair and face shape, and customized my cut for me. Great education. Thank you, Jade! read more

Finding a new hairstylist is hard especially when you switch climates. I moved from the desert to the rainforest and for awhile I was blaming my lack of curls on a past horrific balayage where I ended up nearly blonde *insert tears*. I had been going to a salon in Tumwater and was happy with the service, stylist, and cut/color but notimy curls still hadn't been revived. So I ventured to Tacoma and found Kristina!!! She is EVERYTHING ya'll!!! She was on time and listened to my questions & concerns and confirmed my suspicions that I was damaging my hair with my "drybar" curling iron...LOL...it was ME all along after the balayage. So she educated me on how hot is too hot, hooked me up with some local organic products #LOMA that smell amazing and are easy to use at home. I'm so happy (and so is my hair) to have found Kristina...the curl whisperer! COVID update! My locks were missing Kristina and so was I, but well worth the wait! We caught up and chatted about the whole pandemic and I'm so happy this small business survived...she's so talented and a great human! I usually get a blow out, after all who doesn't love a good blow job ;) but opted for curly today....she styled my curls beautifully! And I'm trying some new products, Rizos Curls, to see how it holds up to my usual LOMA products. read more

I wanted a haircut and kinda told the girl what I had in mind. It was a long appointment but it is a teaching/ experience. I was quite happy with the cut and it grew out still being able to look good. It seemed to me to be a happy, relaxed place with drinks available (nonalcoholic) read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Kristina and my wonderful experience with her! She was knowledgeable, professional and fun! Classic curly hair story, I've had many not so great haircuts from someone who doesn't understand curly hair. Kristina not only knows how to cut curly hair but knows all the science behind it. She gave me a ton of understanding about my hair and how to love it up. I can't wait to return and keep this curly hair alive! I 100% recommend scheduling with Kristina, no matter how long the wait, it worth it! read more

Kristina is a wealth of information. I drove an hour just to see her. For the last two decades I have been flat ironing my hair. Recently I decided to make the switch and transition back to my natural curly/wavy hair. Kristina took the time to explain the process of how I should take care of my hair. She literally brought my hair back to life and I couldn't be happier! Well worth the drive. I highly recommend her for anyone with curly hair!! read more

The last time I went to the Salon was sometime in 2015. Saying I was due for a haircut that wasn't done by myself is an understatement. I booked an appointment at Left Coast Salon because of all the glowing reviews and also because Kristina seemed knowledgeable and well educated concerning cutting curly hair. I was extremely nervous about getting my haircut and some fun color put in, but I walked into the salon feeling immediately welcomed by Kristina and her energy. I walked into the salon looking and feeling not so great about myself and how I look - especially regarding my hair. I walked out of that salon looking and feeling like a brand new person. Kristina did such an amazing job bringing my hair back to life and I couldn't praise her and her work enough. Well worth the wait and worth every penny. I highly recommend this salon and getting my hair done by Kristina. read more

This was by far the worst experience of my life. I had gone in hoping to get my first curly hair trim and walked out with 4 inches gone. I had Cassidy who did not listen to my wishes and not once even combed my hair. I made it very clear that I wanted very minimal hair cut and just the ends removed. I was left with a short style which was also uneven. There are numerous different lengths all around my head and the back was dramatically shorter than the front. I have horrible layers and now a horrible self image. My hair was apart of my personality and now I don't want to look in the mirror. Safe to say my self esteem is crushed and there's nothing to be done about it. I was crying numerous times through my style along with my stylist. Mistakes were made and I am the only person whose is suffering. Never again. If possible, I would give 0 stars. read more

I have really, really thick unruly hair and Christina knows how to cut it properly. Listen to her as she knows her stuff and works to educate you also about your hair care. Her staff is nice but since I only see Christina, I can't comment on their work. I am sure it's good because Christina would not have hired them if they don't know what they're doing. And she is there as a mentor to them too. read more

I've been going to this salon about 5 months and each time I find myself eager and grateful to go - the craft these stylists are mastering from their mentor, advisor and salon owner Kristina Malolua Jividan is cutting edge, personal and stunning. Kristina's vision of changing aching and teaching these stylists to their next level of expertise offers both client and stylist an opportunity to advance and explore the many looks which can be achieved at this salon. The energy at Left Coast Advanced Training Salon is that of a warm and welcoming family who truly listens to exactly what their client wants, the clients vision, and they all strive to make the magic happen! My stylist, G, who has colored & styled my hair on several occasions has an amazing and energetic personality and truly loves her craft and all the possibilities her "blank canvases" hold - you can just see the ideas spinning around in her head. Hands down THE very best experiences I've had getting my hair done. Highly highly recommend! read more

My hair hasn't looked this good in 30 years. Wore it down and curly for the first time in ages!

I rarely feel compelled to post reviews but in this case, I had to say, my first visit with Kristina at Left Coast Salon was terrific! She assessed and understood my tight curly hair right away. She gave me the style and cut I was looking for. Beautiful!! Her wash & go technique is unique enough to get me excited again about going natural. She is the stylist I've been looking for....I also appreciated Kristina's care with COVID-19 precautions. I will be booking an appointment at Left Coast Salon again! read more

I've been getting my hair done by Kristina for about a year now and just recently had my first experience at her new salon! The salon itself is so warm and welcoming with parking spots conveniently located right outside of the building too. I am not terribly good at "styling" my hair so she always keeps that in mind and doesn't ever go out of my comfort zone with some crazy cut that'll take me hours to style. She does however design a cut that is cute, with length to throw it up in a bun or something quick and easy to blow dry and go! My most recent cut was tailored to the new curly hair style and with her guidance and amazing line of shampoo/style gel I literally throw some gel in my hair blow dry for 10 mins and walk out the door with cute wavy hair that doesn't feel like it's weighed down at all! Bottom line for the price and expertise you really should check her out! You will not be disappointed. read more

If there was an option to give more stars I would. Kristina was truly the best hair stylist I have ever had. I highly recommend her and will definitely be booking my next appointment soon! read more

Kristina knows her curls! I'm Black biracial and I have chemical-free, all-natural hair. I was 100% confident that my hair was in good hands. When I went in for my consultation, Kristina didn't try to persuade me into anything. She gave thoughtful advice based on my hair goals. When I came back for my haircut, I loved the whole vibe of the salon and the conversation, as well as the cut itself. She's a very cool person to be around. I will definitely come back and recommend Kristina to anyone with curls. read more

Kristina is amazing. My mom and I have been seeing Kristina for almost seven years! She has transformed our hair, and made us regular salon visitors. She is extremely knowledgeable about curly hair, and she is never pushy about doing anything we aren't comfortable with. She has also been cutting my (13 year old) daughters hair. I was so impressed when I took my daughter in for her back to school cut and Kristina patiently explained everything she was doing so that my daughter could recreate the look at home. My daughter, who normally hates to brush her hair, much less style it, has been faithfully diffusing, and applying products to her hair since her visit with Kristina. I am continually impressed with the haircuts/styles on all the variety of hair types she does, she really is a miracle worker and I'm grateful to have her in my life! As a bonus, she is hilarious:) read more

I've seen Kristina 4 times now and each time I leave feeling so thankful that I found her! After committing to my natural curls 4 years ago, I've struggled finding someone trustworthy to touch my hair. I'd got to the point where I would only get a cut once a year or so just to avoid the drama and sadness that is a bad haircut. NO MORE! I love Kristina, she's the first stylist that I have enjoyed my time with. She listens and knows how to make dreams a reality. I also love my time with her because she's genuinely a good human and nice to be around. Her salon is gorgeous and really convenient, and she has gone out of her way to stock well-made, ethical product that is accessibly priced so I can take my hair care routine home. I'm so happy to have found her! read more

New to Washington and so glad I found Kristina. Read her reviews and so glad I went. I walked in with dead frizzy hair walked out with life, shine and my curls back!! She's very welcoming. This Polynesian hair needed her magic. Thanks Kristina I will be back and definitely bring back more of my Polynesian Frizzy Hair family and friends with me. Such a great place, clean and cute!! Definitely worth it. read more

Kristina is fantastic! I'm always a little hesitant to trust a salon stylist to do my hair because I have such weird, difficult cowlicks that even some seasoned barbers have trouble with. But Kristina knows exactly what she's doing. I am very happy with how she does my hair, and it grows out very nice too; I can go 6-7 weeks without returning for a cut. I have and will be back. She is conveniently located in Azarra Salon in city-center Tacoma, which is in the same building as Harmon brewery. read more

I can't recommend Kristina and Left Coast Salon enough. I'm actually from the East coast here visiting my daughter and I was in desperate need of a good curly cut and a color fix. Thankfully she got me in because not only is the salon great and Kristina very engaging and helpful, but I also got the best curly cut I can remember. She listens intently and then follows thru with a great cut and color and directions on how to maintain the curls. I'll be back the next time I'm on The Left Coast. Thanks again. read more

First and foremost Kristina is magic with curls!! If you haven't been to the new salon space you NEED to go!! Its gorgeous!! Its open, welcoming..from the layout to the decor, to products no detail has been overlooked! We decided to take alot more length off than originally anticipated and do a funky shag and I'm sooo glad we did!! I was elated(and still am days after my cut) Legitimately if it had a reflective surface I was staring at myself in it swooning and giggling like a school girl Everytime Kristina cuts my hair I walk away floating on a cloud of renewed confidence feeling sassy and sexy!! read more

I am not very good with writing but I will do my best because i feel like Kristina deserves credit for the amazing job she did. I used to love my hair and was constantly changing it up. Due to a huge weightloss transformation I not only lost alot if density in my hair I also lost my hair identity because how I used to do my no longer looked good on my new face. I had been looking at different instagrams and websites trying to find a stylist that I was comfortable enough to see since for me this was a very emotional thing. I met Kristina and I asked her about my hair and her response instantly made me feel like I found the perfect stylist. I finally budgeted the funds and made the appointment. I left so happy with my hair and educated enough to feel confident in styling it. And today I actually loved the way it looked when I styled it myself and that almost never happens. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone for an amazing hairstyle experience read more
