Just whatever you do, DO NOT book with Amanda Troger. I paid $310+ for my hair that looked NOTHING like the picture I showed her. Not only did she leave my hair with brassy ass orange "blonde" streaks, she asked me to come in 45 min later than our agreed scheduled appointment. When I tried to ask for a full/partial refund she refused because she claimed she used up a lot of her time and product but hey get this, she asks to fix it. So... you won't give me my refund but offer to fix my hair which will use up more time and product when you can give me my refund and it'll SAVE BOTH our time and more of your damn product-- which wasn't even that much considering I only literally had like 4 blonde pieces in my hair. You offering to fix my hair is not enough because what makes you think I will trust you to touch my hair again after the first time around? I let her know literally the same week that I don't like my hair so she offered to fix it. She never hits me up to schedule me, instead she posts her last minute availability on IG instead of asking me first if I was available to come in to fix my hair. There was NO effort whatsoever to try to fix my hair. I asked about that availability and she says it's been filled so I tell her to just lmk her soonest. I get NO reply for going on TWO WEEKS and at that point I would rather find someone else who knows what they're doing and could do what I ask for so that's why I asked for my damn refund. After a little heated conversation, she just stops replying-- how professional right? She should've gotten it right the first time or at least close to it. I've been blonde before so I know how my hair is but unfortunately it is obvious you don't what you're doing and also possess THE WORST customer service from any hair dresser I've ever received so I will definitely not be coming back or recommending anyone to her. read more

I have been going here for years!!! Jess is amazing. The entire staff is so nice. It's very clean. My hair always looks amazing!

Extremely unprofessional. I booked with Haley several weeks in advance and less than 14 hours before my appointment (on a Friday night) she texted to cancel. She said, "Hey girl! It's Haley! I am going to take tomorrow off, it's been a busy holiday season for me! & I think I'm over working myself! I will send your deposit back!" No apology. No offer to reschedule. No referral to another stylist. It's the busiest time of year and finding another stylist with availability was extremely difficult (not to mention I'm new to the area and don't know good stylists/salons yet). I recognize and understand the importance of taking care of yourself, but it was clear she had no consideration or respect for me. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

Jessie gave me a consult before my actual appointment so we could discuss what I was looking for. She did an excellent, detailed job on the layers, and offered for me to come back in to touch up my bangs if I wanted. Top notch job! The Salon is very nice inside too. read more

Always enjoy a trip to this Salon thanks to Jill. We have been together a long time and I am so lucky to have found her. She understands color and curly hair really well. Such a sweet and gentle soul. Prices are so reasonable for the area and there are many attractions near by afterwards. read more

Patricia is an incredible stylist and color expert. She really understands hair and gets to know your needs. I'm so happy I found her as I'm very picky about my hair. She's also so sweet and fun to chat with during the hair experience. read more

Baroque Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

I've been seeing Kimberly Garver at Baroque since I moved to Tacoma a year ago. I've gone through having long hair and short hair with Kim and she handles it all! My hair has an odd texture, wavy in most places, but super curly right by my ears. Most stylists I've had find this frustrating and have difficulty giving me an even cut, but not Kim. I also have issues with my hair reacting to humidity (frizzling out, etc) but Kim gave me a glaze which has made such a difference with how my hair handles the constantly changing PNW humidity levels. I trust Kim to take my loose description of what I am looking for as an end result (even though I know nothing about the terminology of hair styling) and translate it into reality. Kim is also super cool and fun to talk to, which just adds to her charm! I'm excited to go see her again in a few weeks to maintain the short hairstyle she gave me, which is still getting complements weeks after she cut it. read more

Mari is amazing! She made my hair beautiful blonde balayage. I have naturally dark brown hair and have gone through an almost year long process of lightening my hair to this color. The new location is perfectly placed in the theater arts district of downtown Tacoma. read more

The two star rating is not for the service ( the ladies here are all really great at what they do. ) It's for the unprofessionalism I've recently experienced. I've been going here for over a year to get my regular trims every 8 weeks and have always had a great experience. Plus I loved the ambience of the place. My hair dresser ended up leaving to a location I didn't like so I switched to a gal named Shannon who I clicked with right away. She also did an amazing job. Then things changed. About a month ago I was ready to book another appointment for a trim and I left Shannon a voicemail. I waited a couple days and heard nothing back. I figured she might just have a lot going on so I called the salon and left a voice mail. I heard nothing back from them. I then went onto their website and submitted to make an appointment on there. I heard nothing. After another 4 days went by I left Shannon another voice mail and heard nothing. I had no idea why she was not getting back to me with her available slots. I then left another voice mail for the salon to get the next available person since Shannon was not returning my calls. It has been over a week and nobody has called me back. I now know that this is being done deliberately and I haven't even a clue what I could have done for them to be like this towards me. :( It's very upsetting and extremely unprofessional. I am so disappointed since I really liked getting my hair cut here, but I have decided to switch salons because I have been turned off by this behavior. read more

I've been coming to Baroque Salon since my hair stylist Haley has been a stylist here. Everyone who I've come into contact with here are very friendly. If you're ever looking for a new hair stylist I highly recommend Haley Vandoren especially if you're blonde or trying to go blonde (she specializes in blondes). But even if you're not, she can do it & she gives professional advice about hair color & knows her stuff. Not only is she great at what she does, she's very sweet & genuine. Go see Haley, I've been seeing her for years! read more

Reached out to several hair stylists' at this location and when I asked what their next available day was for a haircut they never replied. The very first girl I reached out to said she had no availability for the weekend but when I went on a link on her IG it said she has 3 openings.. after I had been lied to of course I wasn't going to book with her. A hassle to even come to this location, not even worth it. read more

Yikes. I really wanted to be a client with this salon, but they made it impossible. Want to call them and discuss which stylist might be best for you, or to talk about services? Too bad! They don't actually have a phone in the salon. All they have is an automated menu listing the stylists names so you can contact them yourselves. So before you even book an appointment you're supposed to know which stylist you want. How is that supposed to work for new customers? What kind of salon doesn't have a phone? The online booking form is equally terrible. It's not actually booking, it's just sending them a request and there are no areas to input any additional information, questions, etc. When I emailed them, the response I got was "We understand our business model isn't for everyone." So, they know they provide an absolutely terrible customer experience, they just don't care. read more

This building is beautiful, I love how they decorated it. My whole family comes here. Adee is very kind and a great stylist. Every time I go in I see all the stylists working hard and doing amazing hair. Literally every single one. This salon really know how to pick em! Kim is my stylist and she is amazing! Kim is amazing. I recently moved from the East Coast and had a stylist that I followed for 10 years because I loved and trusted her judgement implicitly. It wasn't until finding Kim that I felt as though it was no longer worth a roundtrip ticket to the East Coast to get my hair cut and colored. Kim is fun and fresh, the space of the spa is great. They all work independently so you contact them directly but it saves you on tipping for every small thing. I have recommended Kim to friends and they all love her- I highly recommend her! read more

My appointment here was wonderful. Mari was the best not only is she beautiful and kind she really takes care of your hair. I came in for a balayage that just wasn't doable with my hairs current condition and Mari didn't want to give me sub par hair. So she color corrected and colored my hair to a gorgeous color with plans to balayage the next visit! I really appreciate the care put into my hair because it feels healthy and soft! And next time hopefully I won't have to rush out due to sitter issues read more

This review is solely for Mari who specializes in color. My highlights have never looked more natural with less damage. Also my sister and niece go to her as well. I am a beauty school graduate who is very particular about form and color and I trust Mari every time. Also if something needs to be different in your eyes she will know how to do it without a problem. read more

To be honest, I have never been here before but there is no way to even set up an appointment with the next available stylist because their phone system is automated and you have to choose a stylist before you can even be directed to a live person. Message to the owners- if you want new customers, spend a little money and hire a receptionist! How are you going to get new clientele (other than referrals) if you don't have a live person on the other end of the line to answer your phone? Not everyone wants to make an appointment online. It helps to give your customers the option of calling and actually speaking to someone! read more

I love coming here to get my hair done! I have only seen Haley, but she does an outstanding job of coloring my hair. Iv asked her to make my hair have more of a balayage look when it was more ombre. My hair also pulls to the warmer tone and the toners she used made my hair have a cool tone which I completely fell in love with. I will definitely be coming back more often! read more

Contacted one of the hair stylists here to inquire about a new client booking, but was met with a rude and condescending attitude. No thanks. I'll find better service elsewhere. read more

Mari is amazing!!! Going through the process of lightening my hair for a blonder ombré/balayage & I was so nervous as my mom (previous hair dresser) was the only one who would do my hair, so my nervous were wild & I had high expectations from her professional Instagram page. I love my hair & I can't wait to make another appointment! read more

Disappointed. I had an appointment scheduled with Mari Friday March 23,2018. This would have been my second time seeing her. Unfortunately she got sick that day and could not see me. Totally understandable. She said she could get me in the following Friday, but my schedule was doubtful. I asked her to give me other days and times I could be seen, but never got a text. I tried to be I understanding as she was very sick. Days went by and finally by the following Wednesday I text her to see how's she doing and if she had some options for me to come in as I had waited to see her for over a month... she said that her phone "lost all her contacts" and that's she couldn't get me in till the end of April. There was never any confirmation with the first appt and this time around I got a text at 9:30pm the night before canceling me appt. I don't know what I did wrong on my end... but all signs show she didn't want my business. Unfortunately now I've had to leave this review to warn others of bad customer service. The salon should have someone always call the customers that are scheduled at least one day before. read more

I recently followed Kim from her previous salon to Baroque. I love this awesome space! It's super trendy but comfortable and really conveniently located. Honestly though, I'd follow Kim anywhere. She's the best! I love having someone who I can trust to always make me look fantastic and execute exactly what I want. She's always professional and has a good eye for colors and styles. If you're looking for a new place, or even if you're not, you should absolutely check this place out and schedule with Kim! read more

Adi did an AMAZING job on my hair. Did basically a total color correction from what previous "hair stylists" have done in the past two years. She really took her time to make sure I was completely happy with it!! Amazing! read more
