Soo overpriced, rude and impersonal. They have bots running the company... that means these people have no brains no heart and no conscience. I have been in real estate for 16 years. 1k for garbage disposal is 1k too much. I press reset button or find someone to do it for $200 tops without cost of goods factored in. read more

I think the quality of work is fine but I have an issue with how they price the work. We had a small gas leak per the gas company. So we hired them to just fix things. There is a $100 fee for them to come out regardless this is waved if you hire them. They described it as just needing to tighten a pipe but said that because all the pipes were on the lose side this may cause issues down stream. Which was only 3-4 connections. The work was suppose to take 2 hours and actually took 1 but they told me the slot for my job was 3 hours so I had to pay for the full slot. They removed a connection my husband specifically asked them not to. And I am embarrassed that we paid it, but they charged me over $800. People should just be aware. read more

I wish I had checked the yelp reviews before calling them. The office person quoted a note to exceed amount and then the tech, hunter, charged $518 for the work. This was a main line clean out at 15' out. This work should cost $200 (and definitely should not have exceeded their own stated "not to exceed'" value)). Criminally overpriced. read more

We've had sewage smell from some of our upstairs drains for a while now. Alex from Lutz looked over multiple parts of our plumbing and was able to diagnose the issue quickly. Lutz has always done well for us in the past, and they continue to do so. I also appreciate that they've been straight-forward with pricing and haven't surprised me with unexpected costs. read more

I have used Lutz plumbing in the past and found them to be pricier than the competition. I had to have them back several times for warranty repair on a brand new whole house filter and water softener combo. I purchased their "Membership" package which doesn't really get you much at all from what I can tell. I wanted to get an estimate for a large project we are expecting to cost six to eight thousand dollars. Lutz plumbing will not give an estimate over the phone, which I understand, but they want $99.00 upfront to come bid a project. I talked to them, but they would not waive the fee or even listen to what the project is and tell me if it is something they are capable of doing. I guess they don't need my business. read more

Called for plugged drain. Asked for a bid but was told "cannot give a bid". Tech came to our business pulled toilet ran an auger 45 feet replaced the 4.00 wax ring and toilet. The job took 1 hour and the bill was 874.00 with tax. I called Ken Crosby at Plumber Time 913-948-4699 and asked what his charge would have been for the same service. He said 335.00 to pull toilet and 115.00 per hour for auger sewer line. He said 445.00 for same service. Had Lutz given me an estimate I would have passed knowing it was not a complicated job. read more

I have been referring clients to lutz for the last few years. Recently I called and spoke to the office manager( ashley ?!?). I was thinking there had been some sort of mixup in her system and has possibly confused my client and our information with someone else's. The reason I say this is because a few minutes after receiving a text from their technician stating they were in route and me confirming , I received a text right after saying our appointment had been canceled. Myself and my client did not cancel. She was extremely rude to me when I tried to explain to her that the phone number she is saying canceled an appointment wasn't mine or my client's and that we were at the house. She spoke over me and was very condescending. It was like she was blaming me because someone else canceled and had nothing to do with me just because we work for the same company. I said more than three times my company has over 350 independent contractors who have their own clients. She just kept screaming at me on the phone. I said more than 5 times that the number she said she has a recording of was not my number and I clarified my name and my clients name more than once. I used to think lutz was a professional company but the cost of work doesn't match the level of unprofessionalism. You would have thought I cussed her out or was mean to her. I called her as soon as their text stated the appointment was canceled to clear up any confusion. Why would I be upset. I figured it was a simple Kaiser. I will gladly provide screenshots for anyone who wants more info. Just text or call me. 816-519-8540 ( the correct number that did not cancel ). Scary to know that this company would be replacing a sewer line when they argue with you on something that is a simple mistake. I'm an independent contractor. My company has over 350 other independent contractors. I tried to explain that as well. She cut me off and stated "well don't they cut you a check isn't this your company ? ". I genuinely don't know what that has to do with this situation at all. They ask you what company you're with when you call but that has nothing to do with the address or our phone number that we asked them to be at I. Explain to her that's like asking if someone works at Walmart and stating someone from Walmart called to cancel when Walmart has millions of employees. I will never refer another client to this company. The client said I am sending them are purchasing their first home or second home and are trying to conduct their due diligence and don't need any extra bumps in a row then make the process any harder. Definitely Buyer beware. read more

Came out same day to look at and replace water heater. Knew what they were doing, but oversold the "10-year warranty" (for which no documentation was ultimately provided) which seems to have added $2K to the price (hard to tell, since they don't itemize the charges). My mistake, but I paid far too much. Beware, and be sure to comparison shop. read more

I read that other customers have had this same experience. Has this happen to you, too? I had Lutz Plumbing Inc. (LPI) come out to provide a simple main drain clearing job because they could respond sooner than other plumbers. LPI would not quote a price for the job over the phone, but some of their competitors do. Once I received their in person exorbitant quote...$503, I did not allow LPI to clean out the blockage. FYI, one of their competitors charges only $79...and I would have paid as much as $175 to LPI for the job. I really wanted to do business with them, so I attempted to negotiate the price, but to no avail. It's not allowed. As aforementioned, I read some of LPI's reviews and have a critique. I agree with LPI that the plumber I met was "friendly and knowledgeable." However, the tech did not reattach the "cleaning plug cap" correctly after the diagnosis and now there is a leak. The "flat rate pricing" they defended really is their prerogative to bill as they will, so I can't fault them for that. It's good ol' American capitalism. However, it is the ideals of "earnest upfront disclosure" that is suspect and where we differ. Good customer experiences are unimpeachable and don't have different customers repeating the same complaint. I was surprised by the high bid so I didn't have the work done. It was a "non-competitive plumber surprise" for me. However, LPI is right and there is no surprise if I had agreed to the price and had the work done. I know that reviews usually don't bring about change one way or another so, caveat emptor. Sharing this customer experience does help as it keeps everyone informed about "the goings on." It also gives customers a way to pool remedies like the one I'm going to do for my properties. Did you know that you could buy the same machine necessary to clear your main drain blockage for far less than what plumbers charge and it is really easy to do the job? There is an online tutorial. You can save hundreds, maybe more. Also, owning your own machine pays for itself after just two uses and means that you will never need a plumber for this kind of job ever again. Most likely I will try to use LPI for other kinds of plumbing jobs going forward but with more dialogue of course. read more

I needed garbage disposal replacement. The guys that came out were quite professional and friendly. Trey Stultz from Lutz Plumbing was hired to tackle my clogged kitchen/laundry room pipes after I put some Clear Water Gel Jelly Beads from a vase of flowers down the drain. (Yeah, I shouldn't have done that.) Those pretty beads turned ugly quickly, still expanding when in the pipes and forming a thick and unmovable clog. He kept in mind the cost, especially if he couldn't get it cleared with the auger and the floor would need to be jackhammered. He repeatedly worked the snake, tried a few tricks, then went back to the shop to get a water jetter to clear the jelly mass from hell. I truly appreciate the efforts of Lutz to keep my repair as low-cost as possible, and that Trey didn't give up. Then he even thoroughly cleaned the walls and floor when finished. read more

Our water heater went out on a Friday night, or at least that's when we figured it out. On my mother's referral we called Lutz on Saturday and they told us all of their employees had a funeral to attend but someone could come out after 2. Totally understandable. Trey still showed up before any other company even called me back. He went out of his way to find us a tankless unit on a Saturday night, and got the whole thing done the next day. By the end of the ordeal he was part of the family and my kids would find excuses to come up to him and show him their toys. Absolutely dependable and reasonably priced. Lutz was recommended to me and I looked forward to getting this work done by them. The work done was perfect, Justin and his assistant did a great job. The issue I have was the bill. $2,819.00 to re-route a shower/toilet and vanity pipes in a bathroom that took six hours to complete. Arrived at 9:00 AM left at 3:00 PM) The materials were simply PVC Drain pipe and PVC water lines. I am unable to recommend Lutz. read more

Refused to honor a $25.00 coupon that is on their website. I noticed the coupon later in the day after the morning appointment. I chatted with customer service on their site and requested to use the coupon. Later I received a call stating that they would not honor the coupon because I did not present it at time of service. I didn't know about the coupon at time of service. Not happy and will not use them again. I will say they did a good job with the fix and the plumber was pleasant. That's why they get two stars. Otherwise it would be lower. read more

We had a faucet that had a significant leak on a Sunday afternoon. Many companies could not get to us until Monday. We called Lutz Plumbing and had a plumber at our home within the hour. Lutz Plumbing visited our house in September after we woke up to a watery garage floor. They fixed the toilet that was the culprit, and then "fixed" a second toilet that was running (but not the cause of the leak). Fast forward to today, when lo and behold, we have a new leak in our garage that was caused by the second toilet. Lutz quoted $700 to *replace* the toilet (and quoted a replacement toilet that a quick Google search can see retails for under $200) that was supposed to have been fixed less than 6 months ago. Coincidence? read more

We have called on Lutz for several smaller repairs around our home, but this past spring, a "smaller repair" turned into digging up the front yard to find the blockage and the neighbors' yard to find the original problem. I had a worn out garbage disposal. Lutz came out installed a Badger brand with a 2 year warranty. (I have seen this disposal for $85.00 at Home Depot stores recently). Lutz charged over $430.00 to just switch disposals. Their invoice didn't show any breakdown on parts (the disposal) or their labor. Just a bill for $400. plus another charge (tax?) for a total of $430.00. They didn't do any special plumbing or wiring. Just unfastened the coupler, took the old one off. Coupled the new one on, and plugged it in. 15 minutes at the most. The company is a rip off. They never gave me an estimate and had I known it would be that high, I would have done it myself. read more

We are new to the KC area and recently purchased a 90 y/o home in the Waldo area. Needless to say, antique homes have antique plumbing. We needed a Plumbing Company with experienced and knowledgeable Service Technicians. We stumbled upon Lutz Plumbing after researching Home service websites. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this Company and their employees. To begin, We had an unexpected water leak and As luck would have it, we discovered the problem in the evening after normal business hours. I called their answering service and within minutes, received a call back from a Lutz service Technician. You would have never known that I was a new customer. I was treated as if I were a lifelong customer of Lutz Plumbing. I've since called on them several times needing various Plumbing Services and Ive consistently received excellent service each and every time. Thanks a million to Bill, Brent and Barbara.....You're what a 5 star review is all about!! read more

I called because my shower leaked. I had already talked to the the manufacturer and received a replacement part. All that was needed was to change them out. Not knowing plumbing too well, I called Lutz Plumbing. They don't charge a minimum fee but instead go by a catalog that you don't get to see. It cost $150 for 5 minutes worth of work and that didn't include the service call fee of $25. He was at my house a total of 20 minutes and it cost $175 when I already had the part needed and he only used a wrench and screwdriver. When i mentioned it to the guy, he said it was only money. Yeah! My money. I can't afford to do business with them anymore. read more
