Had a major water leak yesterday and come find out the hose from the garbage disposal came off which allowed water to run to the basement. Timothy and Scott arrived on time as scheduled and fully explained the incorrect method the garbage disposal was installed which is no surprise. Been in this house 9 months and the previous owner did everything DIY. The drain from the sink to the basement was not correct after due to an oversize sink being installed and properly aligned(previous owner). Tim and Scott installed a new drain, repositioned the garbage disposal and new pvc, tubing, etc. They were very professional, personable and explained everything in layman's terms. Very fair pricing. After evaluating the situation they gave us options and a pricing range for us to decide and worked with us to try to avoid replacing expensive hardware. Soon after moving into a new home in Shawnee, I discovered Anthony Heating Cooling & Plumbing had connected the refrigerator water line to the hot water piping. They cited the "Mpemba effect" and stated this is the preferred practice when connecting a supply line to an ice maker. (The Mpemba effect occurs under specific controlled conditions that allow hot water to freeze faster than cold water, but it is not a universal rule.) I was flabbergasted. AHCP was justifying their practice by citing a niche science experiment and dismissing the facts that: 1) manufactures' instructions recommend using the cold water line, 2) using the hot water line risks damage to the ice maker component & places an increased load on the compressor, and 3) this practice funnels sediment from the water heater into the users ice & drinking water. read more

The worker was excellent, but the charges are indefensible. A few weeks ago they gave me a price for replacement of the electrical box - $7,000. I used a smaller company who did the job for $1,200. This company was bought by a private equity firm in 2020, and it shows. Their focus is on profitabiity. The work they did for me was not a complex job, and it was VERY expensive. They were also not transparent about the breakdown of parts and labor costs, and when I asked about it they said it's not their policy to share that information. The work they did for me was fine. But I wouldn't use them again and I told them that when the followed up to get me to subscribe to their subscription program (which they push quite aggressively). The service people were nice. But the prices were absolutely insane! Got three quotes and the pricing was almost double from the next highest bid. We declined the service. My plastic surgeon and estate attorney charges less. I guess I should consider getting into the plumbing business! There quote was 3k for service and we ended up paying 365$ for the exact same service. Wow! One star: Costly, careless, and ultimately not worth it We hired Anthony Plumbing to fix gurgling and odor issues from our upstairs toilet. They removed the toilet, ran an auger, charged several hundred dollars, and completely missed the actual problem: a damaged wax ring seal right where they were working. Worse still, they damaged the bolts connecting the toilet to the floor during reinstallation. We didn't find this out until the problems continued and we brought in Brightside Plumbing, who ran a proper smoke test and found the leak within minutes. Brightside not only diagnosed the issue correctly, they also replaced the damaged bolts, without charging extra. This wasn't a complex issue. It was missed because of carelessness, and we were left footing the bill for someone else to fix it. We won't be using Anthony Plumbing again. read more

Made the appointment and told that we didn't have to be home for the service. Our ac stopped working and with the heat it was important to get this fixed right away and we were of the understanding we didn't have to take off of work to be there. So a tech came and did not communicate when he left. There was a text we got asking to leave a 5 star review. When we called To ask if it was fixed we were told that the tech called 6 times. We have no missed calls. They just left without fixing it and asked for a review. They charged us $120 to come out and look at it but When asked, they would not disclose any information on what was wrong or how much it would cost to fix it. I scheduled an appointment for plumbing service as I had a backed up main line. Received a confirmation they would be here the following day and another confirmation the morning of. Waited all day only to receive a message they would have to reschedule for the next day due to the high demand for emergency calls. I had an emergency! I had no working toilet so there was absolutely no option to reschedule! You can't even talk to a human when you call. Their quotes are very high and not reasonable at all. Quoted $700 to replace a wax ring on a toilet. We tightened bolts at Recommendation of a relative and fixed the problem. Grandson called to fix a cartridge in a bathtub faucet. Tech said would have to cut a bigger hole in wall to fix and estimated $2,000. We called another company and got the problem fixed for just under $600, which still seemed high, but they didn't have to cut any holes in the wall either. Should have read reviews first. read more

I contacted Anthony's for a replacement of 2 outdoor water facets. I set up 2 contracts with them on their 19.98 per month warranty to cover regular ac/heating services for my house and my rental house. When they came out they quoted $1,800.00 for the job and I knew that was too much. After doing a lot of discounts, they arrived at $1,150.00 for the job. I told them no and called customer service to cancel both of the contracts. Here it is 14 days later and I have not gotten the refund for the $19,98 on either contract. I had to wait for a day for billing to call and tell me the refund was not approved. This is a company that will tell you they provide customer service while trying to charge 3 times the cost. I contacted a different plumber and asked how much he charges for the replacement of 2 out door faucets and he told me the going rate is $325.00 per faucet so in turn would be $650.00 dollars. He came out and did in fact only charge $650.00. Now understand, Anthony's discounted the price from $1,850.00 to $1,100.00. I got the job done by another plumber for $650.00. I will NEVER call Anthony's again for anything. read more

I had your team out to snake a drain, and during the visit, I was told there was a crack in my pipe that would cost $4,000 to repair. Conveniently, you had a crew available the next day to do the work. To validate this, I brought in two independent licensed plumbers for second opinions. Both confirmed there is only a minor kite line crack--nothing that justifies the extensive work or cost you quoted. I've paid the $79 service fee, but based on this experience, I will not be recommending or using your services again. read more

We have been members of Anthony's ASAP program for years. On November 3, our furnace, which we bought from Anthony PHCE and is still under warranty, quit working. We called in and got a repairman out the same day. That was the end of their "great service ". Here it is a month later and our furnace still isn't working. We had a series of calls where they apologized but the wrong part was sent and they had to reorder the part from Texas. I contacted them for a routine repair, and what followed was a circus of missed appointments, zero communication, and no finished work that is necessary for our tenants to take care of basic needs for their life. Job was done well. My only hesitation to give a 5 star is that I had emailed to hold on the job because I need additional approval over a certain amount. The day the technician came I was not in the office that day but received a call that the service provider had arrived and was actually doing the job. It was partly my fault on my end because I had not communicated to our front desk my hold instruction -- since I hadn't actually sent an approval to do the job at the price quoted, I didn't expect him to come. I went ahead and paid the service fee safter inspecting job with some hesitation because I wasn't sure cost calculation was correct. Anyway done. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY... THEY WILL YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! We had been loyal customers of Anthony's for years, relying on them twice a year to inspect and assess our furnace and AC. Unfortunately, our recent experience was extremely disappointing and has completely changed our view of the company. During the latest visit, their technician Angela claimed our furnace had multiple holes and needed immediate replacement. Shortly after, a sales representative was sent to give us a quote -- $13,000, even after a 10% discount. We reviewed their video and couldn't see any holes. That raised red flags, so we brought in two independent HVAC companies to inspect the unit. Both confirmed there were no holes, and no replacement was needed. We later discovered that Anthony's technicians work on commission, and we suspect they use scare tactics to push unnecessary replacements in order to increase their earnings. That approach doesn't work on us -- we pushed back, challenged their claims, and ultimately told them we would no longer be doing business with them. We strongly caution anyone considering Anthony's -- unless you're absolutely desperate, we recommend avoiding them. Not sure if this was the location of Anthony plumbing that came to my home in Merriam. Sent training kid right out of high school looking age. Could not fix our clogged drain, broke our bathroom door without claiming it. Supervisor that came out after 2 guys failed and charged us had an angry attitude. Acted like we were trying to get a new door even when we already said not to worry about the door since were remodeling soon. Wanted thousands for a just also putting on a new shower head and faucets! Handy man charged us 150 and done in an hr. Ended up telling us our septic tank very clearly just needed pumped out and could not believe they could not easily see it was full. Company for that came out and confirmed and cleaned out for 400. Anthony charged us over 900 for a broken pump replacement when old pump confirmed to worked fine. Would not take it back and refund us for it. They have so many commercials that they cannot get experienced plumbers and charge customers for all that advertising. I have heard nothing good from anybody that has used them. Prices are many, many times higher for poor help. read more

I thought the pricing was high but they are a large company with good reviews so i thought i could trust them to do a quality job, i was wrong. Had them install 2 shutoff valves under a bathroom sink, within 2 weeks the line they put in leaked and the shutoff valve they installed was above the leak so it did nothing. Shut the water off to the whole house and waited a day for them to show up to fix. A month later it happened again, 24 hour service means nothing, all I can do is leave a message a wait. This time the water leak has caused damage and it's been an hour and still waiting for someone to call me back. This company is a joke and uses inferior components or employees inept plumbers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They pride themselves on their integrity, but actually have NONE! Here is the situation: They came to do my neighbors house across the street. They have had plumbing issues for awhile and needed some help with their main line. However, the easement is on my property across the street. Our neighbors talked to us and let us know what was going on and that Anthony's had PROMISED to do the work and then return both areas of work to the quality of what the property was as before. Simply put, this DID NOT happen. I talked to someone and they promised they would make it right. They PROMISED that they would fix it. Nothing. Nada. Kaputz. Thrrrpt. We have called and called and called and no one returns your call. They promise when you leave a message someone will call you back but no one EVER does. Almost two months later after they ruined my front yard they had still NOT fixed it. The picture below is THEIR idea of fixing it. Quality work, right?? My daughter said I should put a stone at the top because it looks like a gravesite! Further than that, I have cameras and I recorded a worker leave the front yard and go to my backyard. Then he walked across my yard to a corner where I couldn't see him. Then he walks back across my yard after about long enough to go pee (Yuck!). As he walks across the back yard you can then see him notice my camera. That was exactly 2:48pm on that day. Later that day I go back to review the footage and I didn't have any AFTER that moment. I went outside and looked and my back yard camera was unplugged!! Hmm . . . Strange coincidence??? I don't think so. Like I said, no INTEGRITY!! At all. DO NOT USE THEM!! 6/24/2024 Update: You can see their response below. I have emailed them and asked them to rectify the situation. Let's see if they can actually get this fixed. I'll continue to update my review. 7/16/2024 Update: After talking with their customer service specialist, we were able to come to an agreement. They came out with a Bobcat backhoe, a runoff dumpster and truck. Also, the two workers they sent to do the work were top notch. They were courteous and easy to work with. I knew that I would not get them back out there to fix it if it wasn't up t specs, so I was pretty picky. The Bobcat operator was very capable and was able to tamp, scrape, remove and scoop off the right amount of dirt. The result is SO much better than it was before. It is much more contoured and matches, for the most part, the grade of the surrounding area. They also seeded and strayed. I have enclosed the final picture of their work. I've been a member of Anthony's Plumbing, Heating and Cooling program for about a year and a half. We had a small leak in one of our showers which needed a new cartridge. The cartridge is what the value needs to blend hot and cold water and adjusts the amount of water pressure. I normally use Anthony's Heating and Cooling for my HVAC and Furnace maintenance. And they're okay. Always upselling something or finding something to replace, which isn't cheap. On this visit, the technician was friendly and respectful. He quoted 2 prices, one for replacing the cartridge and one for replacing the entire valve. The cartridge replacement was around $500 and $2,400 for a valve replacement (which I couldn't afford). He (the technician) worked to get the cartridge out but was unable to do it. And $2,400 wasn't going to work for us. He did charge me for coming out ($90) and $50 for not being able to complete the work. I called another company, and they came out to look at the leak. This technician assessed the issue and said he'd be able to replace the cartridge but needed a special tool to remove the one that was ceased in the valve. He went out, bought the tool, returned promptly and replaced it. The cost was $350. It seems to me that most customers, especially seniors who are on fixed incomes, are being dupped by this company ... their technicians are friendly, but mostly inexperienced. They look for issues to rip customers off and they are not cheap. So beware ... Anthony Heating and Cooling isn't your friend. read more

Purchased an a/c unit 8 years ago. Was not told that I had to have them come out and service the unit for the 10-year warranty to be honored. Needless to say, the a/c unit has failed. I did have the unit serviced every year but not by Anthony plumbing, heating and was told they would not honor the warranty. The tech Win arrived on time but seemed very impatient with me and wanted to know what the other company did as far as servicing the system. After explaining to him that they basically just changed the filter and cleaned the system off he then told me that they would not honor my warranty on the system. Should have been told by sales about the ASAP program when system was purchased or the many times, I called them to assist with plumbing issues over the 8-year time frame that I had the unit. read more

Had a leak in our kitchen ceiling. We had used Anthony last year to get a sump pump and whole home filter system installed, and had been pleased with the price and service. So we called them again, and they came out, looked at the ceiling, and said it would be $900 for the shower and $500 for the toilet. My wife knows nothing about plumbing, but she assumed that a company like Anthony was a reputable company and she could rely on their expertise, so she agreed. The technician fixed both problems in less than 2 hours, and used less than $50 in parts, and yet still charged us $1600 (with tax and fees I guess). When I complained, Anthony did respond, but only to say that my wife had agreed to the quote, and that is how they do business. I do not understand how pulling a toilet could be $500 and replacing a drain in a shower cost $900, so how can they justify taking advantage of someone who does not know what the work entails. The pilot light on my water heater went out and I couldn't get it to start normally. I called Anthony and they came the next day. The technician was pleasant however before even touching it he was already trying to sell a whole new system for 2,600$. "OH yeah after about 6 years sometimes they just stop working and the warranty doesn't cover past 6 years" (paraphrasing). After a few minutes on YouTube I diagnosed the problem as buildup on the pilot light. 120$ down the drain but at least I didn't pay for a whole new water heater that wasn't needed. Moral of the story, I would have paid for the work of cleaning the pilot light. But Anthony got greedy. I suggest anyone searching for service look elsewhere. read more

What I thought was an amazing company just showed their true colors. I signed up for their ASAP program and recently also had my AC and Furnace replaced by them. First time I need the ASAP emergency same day service at a priority I find that they don't live up to their promise. My primary sump pump went out and we called at 7 pm thinking we could have an emergency dispatch to fix the problem so my finished basement wouldn't flood. All I got was no one is available and we can get to you tomorrow at 10 am. Really? What am I paying this monthly fee for to be a priority customer and know they will be there when needed. Obviously nothing. The ASAP guarantee is same day emergency service. Which is a total lie! They also hook you into this program to maintain their warranty on the new heating and cooling system so cancelling isn't an option. If you have other options use them. They don't live up to their ASAP promise for sure. Horrible service. Need to get back to bailing water all night hoping they show up tomorrow. I was contacted by a manager apologizing for the lack of living up to their same day service guarantee. While there is no excuse to not provide what people are paying for and no excuse was given I appreciate the follow up. It was mentioned that they would talk to their marketing group about the messaging on the program and update it if same day can't be same day. While I am not happy to pay for a service I thought was covering me in an emergency I respect their honesty that they can't do it and I hope they make that evident in advertising of the program and marketing going forward. They made me a reimbursement deal for the ASAP program for a time to make up for the lack of commitment to the program. I did have two technicians come the next day and while not the cheapest they do a good job and repairs were done right. 4 star work. 1 star ASAP guarantee is my new review. read more

We have been long time customers (15+ years) with Anthony. The work has always been top notch. Unfortunately, since they were sold to some large company, the communication and scheduling has been a clusterf**k. After many attempts to resolve these issues, we are leaving them for a locally owned company. It is impossible to schedule a window of time anymore to have them come by for a service visit. They expect us to be available all day, the day of the visit, and make ourselves available within 30 minutes after they call-cancelling on us if we do t respond to their calls within 10 minutes. These situations have happened multiple times and they have been unwilling to resolve them. Since changing ownership they have also tried "upselling" us at every turn...such a turnoff. Looking forward to working with a local company that values our time and our business. read more

With this could be 0. Their technicians? They can be great. CAN. How they run their business is absolutely terrible. When you book an appointment with them. It's for a day. Not a time or even a window. What this means is they can call you anytime between 7:30am and 5:30 pm and expect YOU THE CLIENT. To be available for them. This is the most insane terrible service I have ever seen. And they tell you "don't change your schedule. We will give you a 30min call". Clearly none of them have ever worked before. If you call them up. Plan to be home and available from 7:30am - 6:30pm+ and all they give you is a 30min warning. Just embarrassing how they operate. read more

BEWARE! This company charges a "$149 service fee" just for driving out, even if they don't actually diagnose an issue or do anything. On August 18, we had a bathtub hot water faucet that was continuing to drip unless it was tightened really tight. When the technician found out the age of the house, he started talking about how both cartridges would have to be replaced, and probably the valves, too...basically just naming off everything that could possibly be wrong (padding the bill for later?). He said just to turn off the water, remove the handles, see if it was just a washer, and "look" at the cartridges would cost $737--that would be BEFORE he actually did anything to fix the problem! That sounded outrageous to me, especially if the problem was just a washer. Even replacing a cartridge couldn't possibly cost that much. And I can turn off the water and remove the handles with a screwdriver for free! So the technician left without diagnosing the issue or even turning off the water. He did absolutely nothing while he was in the house. I had made the mistake of giving him my credit card instead of just writing a check, and he said he couldn't refund the service call of $149 because he had driven to my house. I consider a service call to be DIAGNOSTIC--to figure out what the problem is. Since he didn't do that, I don't feel I should have to pay a service fee. The technician told me to call the office to see about a refund, which I did, and the receptionist said someone from Customer Care would contact me within 48 hours to discuss the situation. Later that day, I got a text wanting to "explore the technician's recommendations!" There were no recommendation, unless you count just naming off everything under the sun. I said I just wanted a refund of the service fee since no diagnosis or service was performed. The person replied that he would also send the matter to Customer Care. No contact with Customer Care for a WEEK, then a phone call. I explained the situation again. The person said he would have to check with the technician, and it might take about a week. No contact with Customer Care until a voice mail SEPTEMBER 22, OVER A MONTH after the so-called service call (hmm..., wonder if they were trying to exceed the time I had to contest the charge with my credit card company?)! I called back. First, I got a "digital assistant" which was useless. Then I was transferred to a live person who said he would try to connect me with Customer Care, but that person wasn't available. Someone did call back a little later that day. The person said since I knew when I booked the appointment there would be a service fee, I couldn't get a refund. Apparently the only "service" this company provides is driving out to the house! And it took a month to figure this out? I will be contesting this charge with my credit card company. Obviously, I will never contact this company again. They should rename their Customer Care to Customer Care-less! I would recommend that no one use this company unless you are wanting to be grossly overcharged. Check around! There are plenty of other competent companies who don't charge bogus service fees and have much more reasonable prices for the services they actually perform. read more
