We discovered a leak in our kitchen pipes (under the sink, leaking into the ceiling of the room…read morebelow) at about 4:58 p.m. on a Friday night. Our former "go to" plumber evidently now does NOT do plumbing any more, and several "recommended" local and regional plumbers informed me (some of them a bit snootily) that they "didn't do emergency or after hours work." Well, that was our only choice...my husband and I both had to be back at work on Monday morning, so we HAD to find someone who DID do "emergency and after hours" plumbing. That's when I reached out to Blue Duck. They were very responsive and eager to help. Their rep was at our house Saturday afternoon and did a thorough "triage" on what needed to be done. And it was a job and a half. Let me back up and explain - those kitchen pipes were AWFUL. Old, nasty cast iron stitched together with PVC pipe - in a bewildering configuration that leaked, clogged and backed up with frightening regularity. This spiders' web of pipes had been band-aided, patched and repatched for decades (even long before we bought this house, which was almost 20 years ago...). So it was a dire situation and no easy fix (see the before and after photos.) But the Blue Duck master plumber didn't even bat an eye. He knew exactly what needed to be done and even suggested some improvements that should be made. It took most of the day Sunday but the new pipes and configuration are amazing. We are very, very pleased with their work and when the next plumbing emergency happens (and you know it will, and I guarantee it will happen after 5 p.m. on a Friday) they will be the first and only plumber I need to call. They're terrific!

The plumber came out and explained that he could not install the new faucet at that time because of the siding work. He removed the old faucet and told me he would come back to install the replacement. I paid $240 upfront for the job. Once I had the new 1/2-inch MIP faucet ready, I contacted him and sent him a picture. He told me, "I can stop by this Friday." Friday came and he did not show up. Since then, I have repeatedly texted asking when he is coming back. My messages have gone unanswered. It has now been two weeks, the job I paid for is still unfinished, and I am left trying to chase down the plumber just to get a response. I understand that schedules change. What I do not understand is taking full payment upfront, promising to return, not showing up, and then ignoring repeated messages from a customer. I have screenshots of the communication showing the promised return date and my multiple attempts to follow up. At this point, I simply want the job I paid $240 for completed or my money refunded. I think Travis was the name of the worker who came. He found that my basement wall was leaking and that he couldn't help me with that. I told him I wanted him to go ahead and snake out the sewer so I would not be concerned about it being plugged later on and he was already here anyway. I didn't want to have to pay for another service call. He snaked it out and got half of a 2 gal. bucket of tree roots out. I think he had been told not to snake the sewer because when he was cleaning up the mess Bret his boss showed up and Travis said she said she wanted it done. I had mentioned to Bret that while I also wanted to know how much it would cost for the faucet for my shower to be fixed because it was very hard to pull out to turn the water on and I was afraid I would end up breaking it and have water going all over the place. While I was getting ready to make out the check for the $245. they were charging me ,Bret asked if I wanted him to check out the shower faucet to and I said yes. He asked if I already had the check made out, I told him I could do a new one . He checked it out and said they would have to put a new cartridge in it and that the cartridge cost $100. and so the cost would be $250. I told him well I really needed it fixed so go ahead and do it. My total charge was $483. +some change. After they left I went to the bathroom to see how the new faucet worked and was so disappointed at the mess they had left. My bath brush looked like it had purposely had sewer sludge loaded into it, it was totally ruined and laying in the tub. The bath mat an the tub had the same sewer sludge on them. A man that was rebuilding some outside steps for me ask me how the plumbing job went. When I told him what I was charged he couldn't believe it. I told him about the 2 separate jobs and their cost. He said that the cartridge only costs $20 at the hardware store and it only took them about 5 minutes to change it. I really do feel like Bret scammed me because I am an elderly widow who lives alone. I have not confronted him because I hate strife, but know for a fact that he condemned his own soul to the judgment of hell for a couple hundred dollars. That tells me that he don't even think much of himself. I believe Travis would have been an honest man if it had not been he was afraid he'd lose his job for it. give a 2 star rating only because Travis did snake the sewer and cleaned up his mess but would give only a1 rating if I was rating just Bret. I was prepared to give a 5 star rating before Bret came along and things went the way they did.
