Lobster Banh Mi
John L.

Walked by this place many times, and decided to try it out for some wine flights and food! The patio does not feel like you are feet away from Chicago, and instead has Parisian vibes. Neither me and my girlfriend were huge wine people, but they curated flights for each of us were fantastic. Recently, they have also added food to the menu and every item sounded real tasty and unique. We had the Croque Monsieur and a Lobster Banh Mi. The first was very rich and savory, where the full sandwich is huge. The second was a great combination, as it was light and flavorful. There was also porchetta on the Banh Mi which was a nice compliment to the lobster. All the sandwhich bread was also from HEWN, so you know it's good. It was a little chilly on the patio, but the heaters were nice. We will definitely be back as it warms things spring and summer! P.S. Sorry pictures are bad, was too hungry to take at the beginning!

This place is great! It's a wine store and wine bar, so you can do some shopping and then enjoy your purchases right away! We can in on a Wednesday night, it was not very busy. The place has a nice vibe-they've got an extensive bar, some high-top tables, and some comfy couches too. We ordered a meat and cheese platter to share. It was all amazing, but the duck salmui and the brillat vivant cheese are phenomenal. (Our server told us we'd have a hard time deciding whether we wanted to eat the cheese or rub it on our faces, and she was right! It's incredibly creamy). This place doesn't do big label wines, so these are wines you won't find at Binny's or the grocery store. That's really cool, but also a bit of a challenge when you don't have anything to recognize. We ended up picking a wine based on the label, which turned out to be a delicious Moroccan red blend. We also tried a Space Invaders themed red that was good. If you open a bottle and don't finish it, they'll package it up for you so you can take it with you. It also looks like they have lots of events/wine tastings/etc. to take advantage of. In addition, our server, Elizabeth, was amazing. She was super friendly, and helpful in making recommendations both on the food and the wine. Pricing is all over the board-if you get a glass they're about $10-14, which is reasonable, but the bottles vary from $14 to $211 (that's the highest I saw), so you can find something in your price range. I will definitely be back soon!

We ended up having 4 bottles between 3 people.. We kept it between $20-30 each bottle, so it's definitely less expensive than buying wine by the glass. The guy is very helpful and knows his wines! For nibbles, I recommend the spicy popcorn and shrimp and avocado crostini.

What a great neighborhood spot! Thoroughly loved my white wine flight and my husband enjoyed his beers. Being able to say what you enjoy and then craft a flight for you is brilliant - and also v good value. Cute little shaded outdoor patio for sunnier Chicago days. Great for wine, beer and liquor drinkers - of all levels. Didn't eat but based on the quality experience, would imagine food is good

Great wine selection

I love wine, wine bars, wine shops, bars in general. So the aptly named "Lush" drew me like a beacon with its glittering neon lights in the window spelling out "LUSH". It was as if it was meant to be. Our first visit was so much fun that when we had out of town guests we knew we had to take them there. We all agreed, this place is near perfect. I love the atmosphere with the library feel complete with the rolling ladder to reach those gorgeous bottles of wine from around the world. Small high top tables substitute for bar stools as there is no typical "bar" at which to sit. A few leather chairs in the front add to what is a very comforting, I can spend a lot of time here kind of vibe. Plus they have great wines by the glass. Actually by the beaker. Cool idea that essentially gives you 2 pours from your measured beaker If I lived closer, I'd know those neon lights in the window were actually shouting my name. Lush..

This is a cute neighborhood gem that I usually go to to purchase wine. When walking my dog the other day I realized they added an outdoor dog friendly patio. We were lucky that it was still warm enough to sit outside and enjoy one last time before it got too cold. We ordered red wine flights, apps, and then more wine. I am sad that it is too cold to go back currently but this is our new favorite neighborhood spot. I highly recommend the Barolo Wine.

Free wine testing... of course I'm happy. Wow this place had some really yummy wines. My friends and I came here to kickoff birthday festivities. The host was pretty cool and knowledgeable of many wives. I even bought a $24 bottle of red wine from Morocco named Art Souala

I want to preface my review with the positives, Londyn was our server & was truly so kind, thorough, and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean & all tables have clear views of the TVs on game days. Now for the room for improvement- the food was very underwhelming. Being from the Chicago area previously, I regularly advocate for the Chicago food scene, and this unfortunately did not meet those standards. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, buffalo cauliflower, wings, and sesame ginger salad: -Brussel sprouts: tasted like they weren't seasoned just air fried and drenched in balsamic dressing -Buffalo cauliflower: soggy, unseasoned, runny buffalo sauce -Wings: PERFECTLY CRISPY, but no flavor (we ordered lemon pepper & buffalo) -Sesame ginger salad: sloppy mix of vegetables tossed in an overly sweet sauce with no sesame or ginger flavor in sight If you're not going to eat, this is probably a great spot, but from a food standpoint, there is room for improvement.

I wanted nothing more than to ring in year 45 with a great glass of natural wine... and I walked out having had a 7-glass flight and one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. The bartenders deserve their own star. They weren't just knowledgeable--they were genuinely fun to talk to, the kind of people who make you feel like you've been coming there for years. We went from discussing funky wine profiles to diving deep into '80s horror films, which is absolutely my idea of a perfect tangent. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the whole experience feel personal and spontaneous. As for the wine: unique, surprising, and delicious, even the pours I didn't expect to enjoy. Good Funk leans into exploration in the best way--nothing feels generic or predictable. Every glass had its own personality, and the flight felt like a curated adventure rather than a lineup. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, stylish without being pretentious, and perfect for either a solo wind-down or a lively night out. It's the kind of place that encourages you to linger, taste one more thing, have one more conversation. Good Funk turned what could've been a quiet, forgettable evening into an unforgettable birthday-eve celebration. If you're in Chicago and love natural wine--or just love a spot with genuine heart--don't miss this place.

We ordered a flight of whiskey sours, which contained whiskeys from Japan, Vietnam, and Wisconsin. I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The bathroom took my a second to find, which should have been intuitive considering it was on the opposite end of where you come in. I blame the lighting as things are already pretty hard to find in the dark, but eventually I made it there-Pat myself on the back.

Chicago Winery prioritizes upscale and intimacy but their service is personable and friendly allowing you to feel right at home. The server as extremely kind, and was able to offer me some suggestions based on my personal palate and wine interests. I landed on the Winemaker's Tasting, which included 4, one ounce pours, including Blancs de Blancs, Albarino, Barbera and Merlot. I paired the tasting with the a BYOB board. I came here for a business dinner with about 6 others. The only frustrating part of our experience was we made a reservation online weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told that they basically overbooked every night and when you reserve a seat you're just saying you're coming. So we showed up and were told we were going to wait an hour. It sounds like they are super busy, but there are better ways to ensure the restaurant is selling every available seat rather than offering basically fake reservations that don't mean anything when you get there. Someone in our group complained enough about it that they sat us and did honor the reservation which we appreciated - given that it was a business dinner though, I think it was awkward we had to do that. It just was a LOT of work to organize multiple out of towners getting together and to show up and potentially wait an hour would have been so inconvenient. They really should fix this problem. The reservation issue aside the experience was great. The service is just sort of meh I didn't feel like they were above or beyond and didn't note anything exceptional there. But the food..... the food is the main event for sure. Everything I tried I loved. I had just had Italian the day before so I didn't want anything that felt "too Italian" (lasagna, pasta, pizza, etc) so I got the braised short rib over polenta which was a nice change of pace. It was amazing. Some of the best polenta I've ever had. I am already looking forward to the next time I can go back! The food here is outstanding. If you are able to go, I would highly recommend it.
