I tried the 2 (chicken) Enchilada combination plate (served with rice and beans) and Baja Burrito (shrimp, avocado, rice and beans, rolled in a flour tortilla, topped with salsa fresca). The food here is quite tasty and of filling portion sizes. Service seems fine, and there is plenty of available parking. I would not mind coming back here again. read more

The service here was excellent and the food was great too! I got a burrito to go and they gave me chips and 2 salsas that were really good. I think this is an excellent place for lunch read more

Good authentic Mexican food. Be careful when ordering burritos. The online menu provides wet/dry option but restaurant menu has wet as default- not what I wanted. read more

Cute little place with very good food and good service. The owner has such a great friendly personality. We enjoyed our comida!

It was pretty good. Wet Burrito Gordito. The salsas were good too. I will go back I bought a burrito to go and they charge $1 for the salsa Roja, not too bad read more

Lupita's is a small Mexican restaurant located in the city of Pasadena off of Colorado Blvd. and Sierra Madre Blvd. I was looking to stop by a place for a quick bite to eat with my brother when I noticed Lupitas.. We ordered the Carne Asada nachos and tacos with rice and beans. The nachos came with cheese, guacamole, sour cream and meat. If I didn't witness the cook microwave my orders right in front of me I probably would have had a much better appetite to enjoy my meal. Pro's: Plenty of parking Accepts cash/cards Open Salsa bar (+1 star) Bottomless chips and salsa Average prices Con's: Not authentic Mexican food at all Over seasoned Carne Asada/wilted lettuce in my salad I don't plan on returning back to this restaurant. read more

Good crispy beef tacos, chile relleno burrito is also good. Customer service was friendly and attentive read more

We have been going to Lupita's about 22 years now. Their salsas and chips are our favorite, for which they do NOT charge, and the food is reliably great. Prices are affordable, service exceptional and friendly. What more could you want in a family-owned Mexican restaurant? We LOVE Lupita's and will continue to keep them at the top of our list. ! read more

It's a mom and pop place with good service. My buddy wanted the best enchiladas in Pasadena so we did a search of the "best enchiladas" and Lupita's was one of several that popped up. They had the best pic and was able to seat 12 of us so he decided and we all joined in on the festivities. He enjoyed his enchiladas but I'd have to say my crispy tacos were a bit on the bland side. As for the others who ordered the burritos they were satisfied but they were not in awe over their meal but as a family of friends we all enjoyed each other's company and service was better than average. I got my refills though I did have to ask which I feel should be automatic. All in all it was good. read more

We were from out of town and stopped by for dinner after a long day on the road. The whole experience was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious!! The chips and salsa were exceptional. The beer was cold and served with a chilled glass and lime. If I lived nearby I would be a regular. read more

I wish I liked this place. We went in thinking we'd get authentic mexican food. Instead, it was overpriced and lacking flavor. To top it off, the 2 female employees were violating health codes left and right. We witnessed one applying lip balm with her finger, then grabbing a handful of chips and putting them into to-go bags. The other one was handling cash, grabbing dirty rags, munching on chips, then dipping her hand back in the same tray and portioning out more chips for upcoming orders. The best part of the "meal" was the complimentary salsa & chips. read more

Garlic shrimp is unreal. Chips are perfect. They have a habanero salsa that if you ask for it is super spicy and flavorful. My favorite is the Deluxe Chile Relleno. SO good. read more

Wanted to try some local Mexican food and stopped by Lupita's. The food was ready fairly quickly in 10 minutes I would say. My bf got the burrito gordito which was nothing special but the best thing we had. It was very huge though lived up to the name! I ordered us some tacos al a carte I got the fish taco, shrimp taco, carnitas taco, and carne asada taco. They were all dry and one of them had a hair in them. Glad I tried this place but would not come back. Maybe tried the wrong items but my opinion is every Mexican place should be able to have some solid tacos so I was overall disappointed by this experience. Bright side it was affordable read more

The restaurant is located in a plaza. I've been here a few times. They serve combination plates, burritos (wet and dry), appetizers, (nachos, quesadilla, taquitos) seafood, tostadas, and soup etc. ::Food:: My go-to dish was the Camarones Rancheros. The shrimps were marinated, buttery, and so delicious but recently the quality changed. Now I order the Mojarra Frita (fried tilapia). It comes with beans and mexician rice. I like the crispy skin a lot! The nachos are good too but they don't add enough meat. Also, when you dine in, they serve you chips and salsa (red and green); I prefer the red salsa. If I'm craving for fish, I would come back for the Mojarra Frita! ::Customer Service:: Friendly ::M's Notes:: -Indoor Seating -Parking Lot -Catering is Available read more

I change my mind and am adding another star. Their food is really tasty. The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is meh. Parking is hard in this tiny plaza. read more

3.5 Star. Friendly and attentive service. They ran out of Chile relleno when I visited during lunch time :( Tried ceviche, enchilada & Gordito burrito wet. Their food was lighter than other places. I added a whole bunch of salsa and hot sauce to make them more flavorful. But they did taste fresh and were tasty. Loved the guacamole! Best ever! Favorite was the burrito. read more

The food is delicious. I love the flutas and the fish tacos! The enchiladas are so so so good! And the tortilla chips taste fresh and the salsa is spicy, which I love! The ambiance is very cozy and cute. They are so nice and attentive when it comes to service. read more

The chilaquiles here are to die for and soooo flavorful, crunchy, cheesy, perfectly spicy (we ask to make them spicy when ordering) etc! By far the best chilaquiles we've had in Pasadena, always feels like a home cooked meal. The ambiance is always super welcoming and everyone is so kind. Stopped by here to eat, needed someplace quick. It is a sit down restaurant. Got chips & 2 types of salsa, both excellent. Their iced tea was a tropical type & delicious. The food is fresh & delicious. My taco did fall apart but what the heck. The rice was fluffy & the beans flavorful. My iced tea was refilled as soon as it got low! A biggy for me! For what you're getting, the price is worth it. I would return again! read more

This is one of my families favorite restaurants! The food is very fresh and made authentically, but their salsa is one of my favorites! Great service. read more

I placed an order for rice and bean, each at $3 bucks each, the beans don't come with tortillas so I placed an order for those...ended up spending $8.21 on my food. For that price, I could've gotten a whole meal but I paid it so I figured portions were good size. Once I got my food I open the box of bean and the container was half way full. Really? Half way?? Lupita's prices are over rated and it really upset me that they couldn't even give me enough beans for my rice. Doubt I'll be going back. This place is definitely for the non-Mexican community who's willing to pay ridiculous prices. read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food. The chicken and shrimp fajitas were off the charts. The meat was hot, fresh and fully flavored. We also had the combo meal with enchiladas and chili rellenos and they were excellent! read more

I came here really hungry after helping my daughter shop for bathroom tiles! I was expecting to pickup a plate because she said the food was "very good" and " authentic " and we could get takeout for home. Well I wasn't in the mood for experimenting but I am sooo glad I came here! They had a few tables for dining in and we stayed to grub up. Authentic, tasty, and filling! I had the shrimp enchilada and it was big;) ample red sauce and peppers , the shrimp could have been a bit bigger-)I understand times are hard with the pandemic but please make the shrimp a little bit bigger ;) But the shrimp were tasty and cooked with flavor. It came with an ample serving of decried Pinto beans ( they didn't have black beans which is what I usually prefer) and with rice. The lady who served us was very nice . They charge a little extra for that tasty salsa ( if you want a couple to take home it's 1.00) but an adequate amount comes with the meal. And you know what? I don't mind paying a little extra for Goodness and this place put a smile on my face. Drop by Lupita's and you'll be smiling too ;) read more

The restaurant was clean. However, had overpriced menudo ($18) and overpriced coffee ($4). They even charged for the tortillas that typically come with the menudo. Not worth it! I could have eaten at a buffet. Save your appetite and money for a place more worthwhile. read more

Food was so delicious. I had a wet burrito and it was huge. It fed me for 2 days. The only down side is it's expensive. We paid $36 for 2 burritos and 2 horchatas. But once I tasted how good it was, I did not care! Plus they give you chips and a delicious salsa on the side. read more

bleh. I have had better Mexican food. I was disappointed after seeing the high ratings on other yelp reviews and was expecting phonemonal food. But instead i felt the food was average. I ordered an entree plate of beef enchilada and cheese chile relleno. It is served with Mexican rice and refried beans. I didn't feel that plate was hot enough and didn't have much flavor. The plate was an huge portion and the price was reasonable at $10. I ended up taking the plate to go since i ruined my appetite with the free and unlimited warm tortilla chips served with salsa. The chips was not bad since i had 2 baskets. I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. This location is small and parking lot is just as small. The place looks like a hole in the wall that requires a face lift. We were able to make a reservation in advance and informed the server we are here for a birthday celebration. The servers were attentive and stopped by several times to check on us. She went out of her way to make the birthday boy feel special. Overall we had a great time. I just wish the food taste more authentic. read more

I haven't found a lot of great authentic Mexican food in Pasadena, but Lupita's is the real deal. The burritos, especially the breakfast with machaca, are delicious. The crispy tacos are also always great. The burritos are huge, but my rating is based entirely on taste not size. read more

Lupita's has really been hitting the spot this quarantine! This family-owned business is my go-to when I'm craving Mexican food. They give you fresh tortilla chips and two types of salsa with every meal- a major plus and the perfect appetizer for your actual meal! The portion sizes are also massive and I always end up eating the leftovers as another meal . I usually end up ordering the shrimp enchiladas from here, it comes with rice, beans, and even some guacamole. I also frequently order their Baja shrimp burrito- highly recommend! Plenty of parking available in the lot. I recommend calling to place your order ahead of time so that you don't have to wait around to pick up your food. read more

This was a recent discovery for us, and I'm so grateful for it! Sometimes I just want some "regular" Mexican food with the fixin's and not a fancy trendy taco joint. This place fits the bill for me. Tasty combo meals with rice and beans, chips and salsa. I'm a huge fan of the tacos which are filled full, fried and crispy. Their guacamole is good enough that I get through my bag of chips pretty quickly! For to-go orders, I love that they separate the rice and beans and main. I know. Someone people like them all mixed up but not me! Oh, and the guy who is always there at night is friendly and service is quick. They are located in a small-ish strip mall but we have never had problems with parking. They are following social distancing and health and safety protocols. You can order ahead for pickup or use their contactless payment system. read more

Located in a small strip mall. Super authentic. Clean and nicely decorated. Pretty lively inside. Starving and the possibility of not finding parking was unthinkable. But Lady Luck was with us. Lot of great hole-in-wall Mexican joints in Pasadena. Lupitas is certainly one of them. Decided to come here for lunch today and I was totally impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. They're located on strip lot in Sierra Madre Plaza. Parking is shared with other businesses and restaurants so it can be a challenge, especially during lunch hour. Your best option is street parking. The restaurant itself is small, but cozy. Prices are very reasonable and portions are just right. I ordered the beef taco and enchilada combo ($1) plate which comes with rice and beans. OMG so delicious! The shredded meat to vegetable ratio was perfect on the taco. Everything tasted fresh, including taco shell. The enchilada sauce was divine, loaded with melted cheesy goodness and shredded beef filling. What's not to love? A bit mild on the spiciness, but at least their was hot salsa present. Love the rice and beans as well. Great friendly staff and quick service. They actually go out of their way to accommodate you and get you seated, even when the place is full. Bottom line, I found myself a new place for lunch. read more

Found Lupitas through Yelp of course! I ordered to go. Food was ready quickly and the chips were so fresh, they were still warm! Yum!!! I order an order of taquitos with beef, combo & 2 tacos combo. One carne asada and the other carnitas. The service was A++ From my order, the cook, and waitress. My coworker inhaled the taquitos! Had a nice potion of guacamole too! I enjoyed the tacos! Very flavorful and not dry at all. Looking forward to our next order. Will try something new. I have my eyes on the asada fries :) read more
