We ordered the Carne Asada nachos and tacos with rice and beans. The nachos came with cheese, guacamole, sour cream and meat. If I didn't witness the cook microwave my orders right in front of me I probably would have had a much better appetite to enjoy my meal. I wish I liked this place. We went in thinking we'd get authentic mexican food. Instead, it was overpriced and lacking flavor. To top it off, the 2 female employees were violating health codes left and right. We witnessed one applying lip balm with her finger, then grabbing a handful of chips and putting them into to-go bags. The other one was handling cash, grabbing dirty rags, munching on chips, then dipping her hand back in the same tray and portioning out more chips for upcoming orders. It's a mom and pop place with good service. My buddy wanted the best enchiladas in Pasadena so we did a search of the "best enchiladas" and Lupita's was one of several that popped up. They had the best pic and was able to seat 12 of us so he decided and we all joined in on the festivities. He enjoyed his enchiladas but I'd have to say my crispy tacos were a bit on the bland side. As for the others who ordered the burritos they were satisfied but they were not in awe over their meal but as a family of friends we all enjoyed each other's company and service was better than average. Wanted to try some local Mexican food and stopped by Lupita's. The food was ready fairly quickly in 10 minutes I would say. My bf got the burrito gordito which was nothing special but the best thing we had. It was very huge though lived up to the name! I ordered us some tacos al a carte I got the fish taco, shrimp taco, carnitas taco, and carne asada taco. They were all dry and one of them had a hair in them. Glad I tried this place but would not come back. Maybe tried the wrong items but my opinion is every Mexican place should be able to have some solid tacos so I was overall disappointed by this experience. Bright side it was affordable read more

They serve combination plates, burritos (wet and dry), appetizers, (nachos, quesadilla, taquitos) seafood, tostadas, and soup etc. ::Food:: My go-to dish was the Camarones Rancheros. The shrimps were marinated, buttery, and so delicious but recently the quality changed. Now I order the Mojarra Frita (fried tilapia). It comes with beans and mexician rice. I placed an order for rice and bean, each at $3 bucks each, the beans don't come with tortillas so I placed an order for those...ended up spending $8.21 on my food. For that price, I could've gotten a whole meal but I paid it so I figured portions were good size. Once I got my food I open the box of bean and the container was half way full. Really? Half way?? Lupita's prices are over rated and it really upset me that they couldn't even give me enough beans for my rice. Doubt I'll be going back. I came here really hungry after helping my daughter shop for bathroom tiles! I was expecting to pickup a plate because she said the food was "very good" and " authentic " and we could get takeout for home. Well I wasn't in the mood for experimenting but I am sooo glad I came here! They had a few tables for dining in and we stayed to grub up. Authentic, tasty, and filling! I had the shrimp enchilada and it was big;) ample red sauce and peppers , the shrimp could have been a bit bigger-)I understand times are hard with the pandemic but please make the shrimp a little bit bigger ;) But the shrimp were tasty and cooked with flavor. It came with an ample serving of decried Pinto beans ( they didn't have black beans which is what I usually prefer) and with rice. The lady who served us was very nice . They charge a little extra for that tasty salsa ( if you want a couple to take home it's 1.00) but an adequate amount comes with the meal. And you know what? I ordered an entree plate of beef enchilada and cheese chile relleno. It is served with Mexican rice and refried beans. I didn't feel that plate was hot enough and didn't have much flavor. The plate was an huge portion and the price was reasonable at $10. I ended up taking the plate to go since i ruined my appetite with the free and unlimited warm tortilla chips served with salsa. The chips was not bad since i had 2 baskets. I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. This location is small and parking lot is just as small. The place looks like a hole in the wall that requires a face lift. We were able to make a reservation in advance and informed the server we are here for a birthday celebration. The servers were attentive and stopped by several times to check on us. She went out of her way to make the birthday boy feel special. Overall we had a great time. They give you fresh tortilla chips and two types of salsa with every meal- a major plus and the perfect appetizer for your actual meal! The portion sizes are also massive and I always end up eating the leftovers as another meal . I usually end up ordering the shrimp enchiladas from here, it comes with rice, beans, and even some guacamole. I also frequently order their Baja shrimp burrito- highly recommend! For over 11 years this has been our Go To spot. Serena and Rick make it our way always. I'm a picky eater, but they make me crispy carnitas tacos (which are HUGE!) on a large plate. Tonight we're watching Sunday night football and ordered a Burrito Gordita no arroz wet with on the side, and you must special request this, their hottest sauce. That sauce is exquisitely complex. One carne asada and the other carnitas. The service was A++ From my order, the cook, and waitress. My coworker inhaled the taquitos! Had a nice potion of guacamole too! I enjoyed the tacos!
