Doña Lupe is a gem. I came to her with my wedding dress, a complex creature of intricate lace and an astounding train. The dress needed to be let out but had been previously taken in by another seemingly less talented seamstress before the dress was mine. There was barely any material for her to work with, but she managed to peel off each piece of lace by hand, let out the sides, and then place the lace back on piece-by-piece. She also masterfully shortened the lace shoulders, adjusted the bustle placement, and hemmed the bottom of the slip into a perfect circle so I wouldn't trip on it. We spent several appointments getting everything just right, including shoes, veil, and even the mother-of-the-bride dress. Lupe was always incredibly kind and talented. Though she is tough to catch over the phone, swinging by her little shop in person usually does the trick. I cannot recommend her enough! read more

I had bought a wedding dress online to save some money on wedding costs, and I absolutely hated the way I looked in it, and with only 3 weeks from my wedding date I didnt have time to fuss around online to buy another dress (I bougjt it from China and it takes FOREVER to be delivered). It of course needed some alterations. I originally took it to El Paseo Tailors right accross from Lupe's shop, the quote to take in my dress, and replace the zipper was nearly $400.00! This was WAY out of my budget (and 4 times the cost of my dress). My mother suggested I see Lupe and I was not dissapointed. I lost 60 lbs and had 4 pair of jeans from Nordstroms that I could not bear to part with. I went through yelp and looked for alterations all over the net. I discovered Lupes Alterations. Lupe is a true DIAMOND and treats her customers like family. She does all the work herself and takes the time to do it right. I had 2 fittings. One for the waist of each pair of jeans and then a second one for the hem only if the waist was correct. Lupe had literally taken apart the jeans in the seat and waist and cut fabric where needed and then sewed them all back together! They fit perfectly and looked like they were made for my body! She then did the hem and again perfection! I have had many items of clothing taken in or hemmed over the years. NEVER HAVE I FOUND SOMEONE SO THOROUGH AND INEXPENSIVE FOR THE WORK SHE DOES!
