This place has some of the most authentic and best tasting Mexican food in all of the PNW. Coming from a SoCal background and having spent 3+ years in PNW this shot to the top of our rankings for PNW Mexican. When we found out the owner is from LA it made even more sense. Food, cocktails (especially the MezCal margarita) and service were all amazing and so thoughtfully considered. The street corn, white bean fundido dip and fish tacos were all amazing. Grabbed a couple bowls after getting off the ferry. They made the trip home, barely. My whole car smiled so good. We had an avocado bowl and a steak bowl. We loved them both. Next time I'll make sure to have one of those tasty looking drinks the bar was putting out, drinks on the deck! read more

Lots of talk about how great this place is but can't see why. Food was ok but nothing that stood out. Service was minimal and looked understaffed. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Fun eatery, good food, good drinks, good service. Location is lovely with a great view of the marina. Casual fun feel, with an awesome playlist in the background when we were there. We just kept bopping away in our seats while we were eating, drinking and laughing. Bonus points for their Oaxacan Old Fashioned cocktail, which had some really nice chocolate notes in it. read more

Such an amazing find! Always amazes me what kind of international fare can be found in the most unsuspecting of places. This place is tucked away from the main road, but easy to find if you're walking along the water. We knew we found a good spot when we didn't have reservations and had to wait a half hour for a table at 7. While we waited, we took a nice stroll along the pier. Once we had our table, we were seated on the patio. We had an amazing, unobstructed view. The two of us shared their delicious white wine sangria. It had peach juice and fresh berries. We shared a bowl of mussels, made in a tasty sauce with chorizo. Ordered a flight of 5 tacos. I had their pork and chili prawn, both excellent choices! Hubby had lime chicken, beef and prawn. He thought the prawn was best, the chicken excellent, and the beef ok, but not as good as the other two, and he would order an extra of the other two over the beef next time. We shared the baja fish burrito bowl. Deep-fried cod served over veg, beans and rice. Yum. Overall, we had a perfect first meal in Gibson's. read more

Really good! Fresh and healthy food, well prepared with good service. We had tacos and a Baja burrito bowl, as well as a "Margie's" margarita -- which was authentic with a nice kick. We live in Vancouver and this place is better than any place I've found there, aside a couple of little pinche joints. If you're in Gibson's check it out. It's a little tricky to find, follow the signs and head down the stairs toward the water. Nice little harbour view too, and groovy music. Would have given it five stars if decor and lay-out was a bit better. A bit cluttered and grungy, but the food and service makes it totally worth visiting. read more

Delicious burritos. We ordered takeout and it was our first try. In the takeout containers the burritos looked kind of unimpressive for the $16 they each cost, but they turned out to very tasty and filling. The beef and pork were tender and so flavourful - clearly slow-cooked for hours. The portobello and ancho chilli also very good. Perfectly seasoned and filling. We'd go again. Oh yeah, a bit tricky to find this place. Plan ahead if you've never gone before, not the most accessible location if you are in a car and rushing to catch a ferry. One a sunny day the deck at Lunitas is hard to beat. Reception and service was warm and efficient. We tried a variety of tacos and the chicken was the favourite. I have two suggestions. Firstly, they really should increase the portion of toppings on the small tacos. Many comparable shops in Vancouver give you twice as much for half the price. Secondly, if you are seated inside the big U shaped bar looms over you and takes up so much space you can feel shoved against the wall as servers go back and forth. read more

Was super excited to see a Mexican restaurant on the water so we tried it on Sept Long weekend Monday . Crazy busy and they warned of a long wait for food. They were able to seat us pretty fast at the bar and we were happy to sit there. It took a while for any server to show up and the bartender tells you she doesn't take orders. They may want to upgrade their system to facilitate the bartender taking orders provided they are skilled enough as well. The menu is not your standard Mexican food but enough of familiar items to take a chance on.I ordered salad (what else) and hubby had some other dish (can't remember) Food was ok, nothing spectacular, however the variety of Tequilas make it worth it if you want to try something new. We got there at around 1 pm and were told we would be seated shortly as she just had to clear some tables. We watched people walk in behind and put there names down. 50 minutes later we watched all the people behind us be sat down and all were the same size as our party. We finally went in and asked and she said we were still at the top of the list and then a party who she told was second in the list was seated before us. We waited 10 more minutes to be sat in the scorching sun which isn't really their fault but we did just wait an hour in the sun for a table. The food took about half an hour to get to us and was not as great as usual. The chicken and the rice in our burrito bowls were dry. I've been there a few times and service has never really been that great. read more

We went there last night for dinner and drinks. My margarita was perfect. We got queso fundito (highly recommend). Taco flight and the pulled pork tamal were also delicious.
