Turkey sub had good flavor but very skimpy on meat, less than half the amount shown in another reviewers pics. Large antipasto had very little lettuce and the darker greens were black with rot. Loaded with too much cured meat, almost no cheese, and could use some decent olives and more of them. Has always been a go to but prices have gone way up with problems noted. read more

So one night, I was with these 2 girls from California (no, neither of them was Katy Perry), (no, neither of them was a guy dressed as a girl), (I don't think), and we were up on a hill in the medium-strength wind underneath the stars, and we were waiting for a Bonnie-Tyler-opposite, which is a "not-quite-total-eclipse-of-the-moon." And it was like, how long are we going to stand out here waiting for this thing, it's late. So we were all wondering "what is the Lunar ETA?" And one of the girls was like "I wanna open a sub shop and diner." And the other girl was like "I dare you to call it Lunar ETA." And Lunetta's was born. True story. Not even slightly. What to order: The Royal Sub. If you are one of those Loo-Needers, as in people that have to run to the bathroom a lot, then you will love this place. Because they have a bathroom fairly close to their seating area, so you can eat... bathroom... eat... bathroom... e... bathroom again quickly... eat some more... go out to car... run back in to bathroom... no worries at all. My favourite thing here is the Royal Sub. They recommended it the first time I came in and it was spectacular, and in fact is my fave Royal Sub in Western NY and possibly my fave sub of all in the region, definitely right up there as one of the best - and best value - sandwiches. Italian lunch meat that is thick and fresh with deliciously cooked spicy sausage. Awesome. Not too huge or filling, it's just right and the bread is fantastic too. As for the other stuff, I've tried a few other subs and they were always good, I've tried their Italian food which was okay but not amazing, and I've had a meatball (which wasn't amazing), and a milkshake (which I didn't like at all and went right through me) so based on my experiences so far, it's all about the subs... and they are so good that I'd recommend coming here just to get one. They also do fresh carved turkey which they are very proud of. If you like Turkey you will love this. I don't really like turkey, but it's so juicy and good that I often add turkey for a very small fee, to my Royal sub for a little extra awesomenessyness. You should give it a try. In terms of location, if you take the Cleveland Drive exit off I-90 East, you practically crash into their parking lot (and if you are speeding, you literally do). If you're coming from other directions, just take Union or Dick/Cayuga to Cleveland or to Wehrle which is nearby... follow the watertower, it's only a few blocks away from it on the same side of the highway. They're open pretty late every night too, 10pm I think. Incredible prices, great service, and the royal is one of the best sandwiches in town. And my friend who is a sandwich and sub lover, says it's the best Royal she's had. And the guys in Pulp Fiction love it too. Which would be true, if they were real, and had ever tried it. And whatever you order from here is known as a "Lunettable." As in edible. They don't sell Lunettable Underwear just yet but I don't even think that is hot to be honest. And I think almost everything is hot. But food is awesome and hotness is awesome but mixing food and hotness kind of eliminates the hotness in my none-too-humble opinion. read more

Lunettes is the place you sometimes forget about then kick yourself for not going. Always delicious and served in a timely manner, the food is a cut above the regular joints. You'll find all the regular pizza and subs (which are great) but also some handcrafted specialty items that will surprise you. It was also a nice surprise to see a pretty decent draft beer selection including Rusty Chain, and the beer was cheaper than anywhere I've ever seen. Beware of the OWNER.. placed an order today and when we drove 20 mins there & back to find the fish sub was on a plain bun missing the cheese, lettuce & mayo. When calling all they said was we will issue a lettuce & cheese credit.. how do you do that? My sandwich still isn't what I ordered! After being put on hold with 2 different girls the owner got on. He refused to redo the sub and wanted the original to be brought back and finish making it. We said no... wanted a new one and will bring the old plain COLD sub back for a fresh HOT one made the correct way. He said to F__K the lettuce and F__k the cheese and hung up. We called back and every other word was the F Bomb and he ended it with I don't care about your business I will be closing up in a week.. What happen to I'm sorry this happen and will do it right give me 20 mins and come pick up a new HOT one..not bring me your old one and I will work with the soagy roll, and COLD fish and now how many hands touched this? I was house sitting in Cheektowaga and wanted to order takeout. It was already 730pm so most of the places I called weren't answering (closing at or around 8pm). I happened to find Lunetta's and decided to try it because it was close & I liked their name (that's how normal people choose takeout places, right?). So I called and the woman on the phone was very helpful and answered all my pasta/salad dressing/portion size questions. Most places I've called have been short and snippy but the woman on the phone was pleasant and patient! I ordered stuffed shells with a side salad to go and when I went to pick up my order, she made sure to warn me about the lid (sometimes they pop off when the food is super hot, I've had this happen before and without warning!) so she taped the sides for me, making little easy pull tabs for easy pasta access and even put my salad in a separate bag so that it didn't get warm while being in close proximity to my pasta. Most places don't take the time to do this and I get home with things that should be cold.. that are now room temp, yuck! Needless to say, the service was great, the prices reasonable, the location (if in Cheektowaga area) awesome & the food delicious! I'll be ordering from here again! read more

Lunetta's has been around over 50 years. I used to go to Cleveland Drive location as a kid as I lived a few house from there. The now owner, Tony has been there all his life as his grandfather started the place. Food has always been exceptional. This last year with Covid has taken a toll on all restaurants and businesses so if something is wrong we as a community have to realize that the owner and what employees he or she have are trying to do their best under the circumstances. I have been going to Lunetta's off and on for 50+ years. Yes you will get a bad day, doesn't everyone? If you do try Lunetta's go for the turkey sub. Real roasted turkey! Best around! The staff is trying but do not order from here. Not practicing social distancing, an employee touching money and then food without washing hands. We were told 45 minutes for food but it took 1 hr 25 minutes. Got home and I ordered a beef sandwich. They used bread. We asked for gravy on the side. They didnt do that. Lunetta's is a diner type joint with friendly staff, good food and fair prices. I typically do takeout but the dining room is always hopping when I stop in. Remember those places where you'd go in years ago and the wait person would know your name and say hi? Lunetta's is that type of place. If you want to taste Buffalo come to Lunettas. They truly take pride in what they do here, and they do it well. The subs are a thing of beauty, literally picture perfect. My favorite is the Imperial, and the hot turkey with hot salami. Speaking of turkey, its all roasted in house and Sun and Wed are hot turkey nights, get the sandwich with gravy fires. You want a chargrilled Sahlens hot, they got you covered. Want a perfect Buffalo style pizza with cupped pepperoni and a nice crispy yet doughy crust, they got it. The only thing I can not really recommend is the pasta dishes, the red sauce is not very good. They do have beer and wine and an old school lunch counter, plus it's great for kids. Best family diner I've found in the area. Our waitress was extremely welcoming and explained the specials and what the restaurant was known for since we were first timers. The chicken parm I had was crispy and satisfying, but my partners stuffed shells were very delicious. I am very picky about red sauce and theirs was not overly sweet and was a good consistency. I loved how much bread came with our dinners and that I could order a small portion, even at dinner time. Right off the bat I'll gladly point out that it's 5 star service. The waitress was so so nice. Very geniune. Anticipated our every need: refills, crackers for the baby, ect. The turkey sub really is good. I could use a smoked flavor or something a little more to it...as its slightly bland but don't get me wrong delicious. Their garlic bread that came with the penned and meatball was good. Fries also good. Meatball itself not too bad. The sauce is where I got lost. The place was swarmed with a more elderly crowd. I was visiting the area from Richmond, VA and this was hands down the best restaurant of our stay. Randomly found it on Yelp and we were not disappointed. Luckily it was on a Sunday so we enjoyed the Turkey dinner for a little over 8 bucks and ziti with awesome meatballs and sauce...food like this is unheard of in VA! If you live around Buffalo consider yourself lucky because this is a hidden gem that is worth regular visits. There are some things in life that don't and should not change. I can remember going to Lunetta's on Hertel as a teenager for good quality Italian food. The menu had pizzas, submarines, wings , and so much more. There would always be this big Italian man with glasses sitting at the bar with a beverage doing paper work or talking with customers. I found out soon enough it was Tony the owner who set a high standard of what his restaurant represented. It was the most consistent place with great service and food were we enjoyed for many years. We come here probably once a week. The food here is great but but if they tell you it will be 20 minutes, expect to wait 40 minutes. if they tell you 30 minutes, expect am hour wait for your food. They are nothing if not consistent. We keep coming because the employees are friendly, the food is good and well made but I have yet to receive my order when I'm told it will be ready.
