I cannot speak to the condition of the larger store, as I was here to check out the cheese counter, and the joys I discovered therein captured my full attention. The cheese counter here is extensive, with a broad variety of foreign and domestic cheeses derived from various milks. I didn't see any issues with mold, an indication that they monitor their stock well. I found a number of new-to-me cheeses, and also bought some small French crackers that I knew to be at an exceptionally good price. I'd love to stop by this store during different seasons to see what new cheeses they carry! read more

We do a lot of cooking in our home, which means we do a lot of shopping. We do stop in to all of the local grocery stores, but this one we stop at almost daily. We love the fresh produce, the friendly people that are always out, stocking and cleaning shelves, And their self checkout always works, unlike other local stores. I know they have a reputation for being more expensive than other stores, but frankly, if you know what you're looking for, just as good of deals can be had at this store. They have a great selection of cheese, olives, a great meat counter and seafood counter, and their bakery is consistent. I do find their liquor store to be more expensive than the others in the area, so I typically won't shop their liquor store unless there is a sale going on. read more

My family and I were in Minneapolis for a long weekend and couldn't decide on where to go to grab a late night snack. We happened upon Lunds & Byerlys on Yelp and decided to check it out. Awesome store! Prices are on the high side, as you'd expect from a boutique grocery store, but nothing was outrageous. We wound up getting a bunch of items from the bakery case. While they won't win any awards, all the desserts we got were just what we were looking for. read more

This is a larger Byerly's and they have more of a selection. The fruits and vegetable offerings are better here. They often have fresh figs. The deli and pre-pared food selection is larger and they have a number of salads. The taco bar is good. My favorite is the large cheese section. They used to carry a fresh mozzarella ball that was terrific but they now have a new cheese supplier and don't offer that anymore. Please bring it back. Staff is knowledgeable and will offer to order items that they don't carry. read more

I come to this store for a couple of hours almost daily - my son has a daily therapy appointment nearby. This store is overrun by middle aged white women employees who are unhappy and rude. And I state this as a middle aged white women, myself. I've experienced rudeness to myself, inexplicable rudeness to a patron of color, and just overall huffiness/rudeness at checkouts, in aisles, etc. Love Byerly's, but the employees here need a serious come-to-jesus training to remember how to be kind. read more

Dear Byerly's, I'm not a sushi aficionado. I've never felt the pleasure of sinking my teeth into an adult tuna moments after it's been hoisted from the sea (seriously, how fucking fresh does it have to be?) and I probably possess the palate of a cultured amoeba when it comes to 'authentic' Japanese cuisine. But, you know what? I love the little rice and seaweed wrapped rolls of glee you churn out, unashamedly. They're extremely fresh, priced fairly and you always keep a large variety available to choose from. You're like a wizard. A wizard level nine. Sincerely, Cultured Amoeba Seriously, though. They have 4.99 sushi Wednesdays (on select varieties) and the sushi chefs are always more than happy to greet you with a smile and make a roll fresh for you if you don't see it out. This isn't, at all, the typical grocery store sushi (the kind that just looking at makes your intestines quiver in terror) that a lot of people probably think about and hate. Do not fear the grocery store location, young Padawan. The Grand Finale, Snow Crab, Sriracha Party and Tempura Shrimp rolls are my favorites. I'm also a touch obsessed with their salad bar; it really is true that not all of them are created equally (I'm looking at you, Rainbow... bleeccchh). They have a variety of lettuces, tons of fresh vegetable toppings (mushrooms, sprouts, chives, red onions, peas, edamame... etc) and actual pulled chicken. Yes; -actual- chicken. Not those bullshit spongy little cubes of chicken waddles and assholes. There are dried fruits, nuts, a myriad of cheeses, microgreens, fresh mixed herbs, wonton and tortilla strips, thick-cut croutons... you get the idea. And as if all this weren't enough, there are about a dozen different dressings and multiple sprinkle-on additions like chia seeds and ground flax to give your (surely by now) 4,000 calorie salad a healthy boost. What the hell is NOT to love? Without further ado, I'll finally drag my ass to the actual grocery store portion of this grocery store review. I typically shop here for specialty items due to the considerably higher prices on the basics. The layout is user friendly and the store is always immaculately clean; I'm pretty sure they shine and give every individual piece of fruit a nurturing hug before they put them on display. They sell the harder to find stuff here--forbidden rice, cinnamon ice cream, vanilla rose sugar, Mayan chocolate bars, specialty cheeses--and I've found that their store brand is comparable to/better than the actual name brands. Helpful tips: - Don't come here expecting any amazing bargains because you'll end up sadder than a blind gay man trapped in a fish market. - Expect to run into the occasional entitled Eagan housewife that thinks her excrement smells like white chocolate, verbena and freshly squeezed kitten tears; it's inevitable. - Don't fuck with the fruit arrangements. They'll taze you, bro. - Walk proud with your bloated, soon-to-pop-its-container wonton strip, crouton and dressing salad; you earned it, damn it. read more

The store itself is great. But the reason I'm leaving this review is to thank the staff for their incredible generosity. My wife and I got stranded in Minneapolis during the nightmare of flight cancellations over the Christmas holiday. During our unexpected stay, we stopped by Lunds & Byerlys in Eagan to get some supplies for our impromptu Christmas Eve away from our families. When the staff learned of our situation, there was an outpouring of genuine concern, kind words, and even some free Christmas treats and a holiday card from the manager. I've rarely experienced such generosity from strangers. The wonderful folks at the Eagan store exhibited a true Christmas spirit that helped bring some joy to an otherwise difficult situation. I like these stores. Much nicer, cleaner, friendlier and more expensive. The foods they offer to eat for lunch/dinner looks very good and fresh. Many options from sushi to Mexican and sandwiches and deli too. I like a few of the soups they have. The tomato Basil soup is very delicious. I meet my ailing mom here for a light meal. My folks really like this store. They can have your groceries waiting for you if you want to pull your car up to grab. Nice for the cold winter days. I will be back. read more

I've had some loyalty to Lunds and Byerlys for a number of years. Back in college the Lunds and Byerlys (it was just Byerlys back in my day) had sponsored me for an All American football game that I took part in. For that reason alone I have always done some shopping at Lunds and Byerlys. The logical side of me tells me that any store, specifically a grocery store that has carpet and nice lighting is going to be more expensive than your average grocery store. I don't feel that is the case with Lunds and Byerlys. In fact the have some incredible sales that you can be notified by email. Take for example their most recent baking sale where items like flour, sugar, chocolate chips and eggs were a dollar or less. They also have a BOGO sale a few times a year. My wife really loves this as she is a fan of their chicken fingers. She also loves their cherry chicken salad from the deli. As most grocery stores do they have a call ahead or order on line option and then stop by and pick up your groceries. Some of their locations even have a pick up area/loading area where they will load your groceries into your car after shopping. Lunds and Byerlys have several locations throughout the Cities as we have shopped at locations near where I work as well as my wife works. We also have a location close to home. Besides their fresh salads, we also like their deli and fresh juices. Especially their orange juice and lemonade. Service is also always been good. We're sure to continue shopping at Lunds and Byerlys, especially when they have those great deals. read more

I went to their Bakery for a sweet treat after dinner one evening. I was very pleased with the selection of desserts and variety available. I ended up going with 2 cupcakes - Birthday Cake and Dirt & Worms. The packaging was a let down, they were in a large container with no support to hold them upright and keep from hitting each other or falling over. The baker put the price stickers on the top of the package so when I went through self-checkout, I had to flip them upside down. That is the reason for taking away the stars*. You cannot expect someone to ruin their dessert then enjoy it! The appearance of the cupcakes themselves were very nice and they tasted delicious! Both were filled with frosting and were nice dense cupcakes. I would definitely return for the cupcakes, but better packaging would go a long way. read more

I live near this location so I go here probably once or twice every month due to the convenience factor. The Big Bowl Express is a nice addition to this location, definitely get an extra star for that feature. I've always found the checkout people at the food court register to be less than courteous at this location. They're never rude, but it almost seems like they'd rather be doing anything other than ringing up your order. It's always busy from 4-7pm. Frantically so from 5-6, when all the people coming home from work stop here to pick up dinner. I would recommend this location for these rather large cheese selection and their bakery area is a nice plus too. Everything else, stick to Cub or Rainbow. Same quality, but Cub and Rainbow prices are better. read more

They have excellent customer service. They'll sharpen your knives for free. Can't find meat in a small enough package? No problem, they'll cut one in half for you. Can't find an item? Tell a manager and they'll write it in their little notebook and chances are you'll find it on your next trip. Have a problem with an item? E-mail them and they'll go above and beyond to fix it. They have a huge variety of items, including many gourmet items. Their store brand is better than the name brands. You can shop online and have your groceries ready for pick-up for an extra $5, or have them delivered for an extra $10. It is WELL worth it! read more

I shop here because their produce just does not rot as quickly as produce from other grocery stores. Aside from that, I ordered a rare fruit from the produce department and they actually called back a week later to say they had located it and would likely be able to sell it. Very clean- Check! Food fresh- Check! Employees happy and engaging- Check! No rif raf couponers stocking up on hoarding materials- Double Check! It might be the fact that there is carpeting on the floors versus the standard greasy, sloppy tiles or that there aren't five year old scream factories begging for the latest mascot food. I absolutely enjoy coming to this place at any time of day. I avoid the cheese section because of future heart attack concerns but, the woman who helped me last time could sell cheese to someone who was lactose intolerant. All of the boars head meats are to die for, the sandwiches, and fun salads are perfect for lunch and snacks. Groceries bagged for you and shipped to your car. What a great place! read more

I am often here picking up goods for clients and the occasional grocery store stop. I try to avoid, as prices are exorbitant. The store is clean, people are nice, but the prices get in the way. The food is very fresh and high quality. (see: high prices) However, with HyVee down the street, this place just doesn't do it for me any longer. I have seen both stores. L&B does have great options for lunch and continues to deliver in the baked goods section. However, you can get all of those things for equal or lower prices at HyVee. Exhibit A: Peppermint Bark for the holidays. $9.99 for six pieces. SIX. Absurd. I understand price gouging but come on, where's the holiday spirit?! I do appreciate that it is a Minnesota company. I'm really digging this place! I've been back numerous times for the salad bar or to get a quick couple of items on my lunch hour. Everytime, I encounter fantastic service and great food. My new favorite place for treats is this Byerly's! I picked up a German Chocolate Cupcake and Killer Brownie. This is possibly the best cupcake I've ever had. For the record, I've only been to one of the numerous cupcake shops around town, but the cake was moist and the frosting was fantastic. Next- the guys and gal in the meat dept. are hands down the best in the twin cities. They have excellent meat and seafood selections, but will always very graciously assist you with special orders. They make you feel as if you're the only customer of the day. Big shout out to Phil and John for once again making the old style chicken breasts for a special occasion! I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the liquor store. I was looking for a particular wine, and while they don't carry it any longer, the gentleman knew the wine and made a great recommendation for a substitute- it was excellent! This is a Nice well kept grocery store but the prices unfortunately reflect that. Their prices are slightly​ higher than Cub foods when price matched but thier deli meat department are top notch and often have good sales...$5.99 lobster tails on sale now for instance. I came here to purchase organic chicken ...2 breasts - bone in for $8.99. The parking is a little funny in that entry is closest to freeway area and exit is closest to building ...very defined. Once again the butchers at Byerlys has come through. I was hosting a dinner party and they pulled a recipe from the vault and made me chicken breasts stuffed with wildrice cashew dressing. Not only were the chicken breasts a 10, but the help I received in having the butcher make them was over the top. I didn't get his name, but he's been there about 30 years. I placed my order over the phone and he knew right what I wanted and even though they don't make them anymore, he created 6 just for my dinner party. They were ready on time and were so fresh and delicious. Its the superior customer service like this that keeps us coming back to Byerlys. read more

Our son, a college student, applied (online) for a part-time job at the Eagan Lunds & Byerlys store in late May. After he didn't hear back from anyone, I (his father) spoke on more than one occasion with supervisors/managers about this matter. Our current concern is that a hiring manager named Arlene, with whom I spoke about 10 days ago, stated to me that the store had a number of openings and that she would definitely call Nathan. After hearing nothing from Arlene after a few days, I expressed my concern to Kaitlyn Lester, the current general manager of the store, and she said she would look into it. It's now late evening on June 17th and Nathan has heard nothing. Our 20-year-old son has a solid resume and has worked in food service (at his college) for two academic years. Clearly, he would make an excellent part-time worker at the store. This is not a trivial matter. The very integrity of this particular Lunds & Byerlys store is at stake here. My wife and I are growing increasingly concerned about how L&B is marginalizing our son. He deserves to be granted the utmost respect. This means giving him the consideration that he deserves. Frankly, my wife and I are now wondering whether this is an appropriate supermarket to patronize. We would like to see this particular store exhibit a consistently high degree of ethics. As it stands, it appears to support the axiom that "business ethics" is indeed an oxymoron. read more

I have been living in Eagan for a while and I racked up enough visits to Byerlys to give a less than favorable experience. The store does have some stuff that I cannot find at Target or Cub. But their customer service is lacking. Bad attitudes are apparent at the deli, beer/wine dept and at check out. Also a thing that occurs a lot is that we are getting double charged for items as we check out. This has happened multiple times for it to be an 'accident'. Good thing is that Hyvee is coming to Lakeville and Eagan. I will be spending my cash there and at Kolwalskis. These places have excellent customer service and they carry everything that Byerlys has for a lower cost. read more

We stopped here to pick up a sandwich for lunch which they make fresh and daily. Friendly service across multiple departments especially the bakery. While I wouldn't shop here regularly for groceries (they are a little to spendy for my budget), my mom and I stopped here on the way to the cemetery to pick up flowers to put at my daughter's grave. On Thursdays, they have $5 bouquets. The stems are shorter than a lot of other bouquets, but they work alright for her vase at the cemetery. I was also actually impressed that their pumpkins were cheaper than the ones at Sam's Club (though not as cheap as the ones at Rainbow Foods). read more
