    Smoked Brisket Burrito
    Willy T.

I ate here because I had some time to kill before catching my train out of the airport. It was basically empty at 4:50 on a Sunday. I ordered a smoked brisket burrito, and unfortunately it looks better than it tastes. It's pretty average, the cheese was not melted, and the brisket flavor was barely noticeable. On the flip side, service was very good and the staff were very friendly.

This review is long overdue - been flying out of Burbank airport for years and I almost always grab a meal here before heading through security - especially if it's breakfast! Their food is surprisingly excellent for an airport restaurant. Everything I've tried has been great - and their portions are massive! Their breakfasts absolutely rock! They have great eggs Benedict - that they serve with regular bacon and topped with a light gravy instead of hollandaise- it's fabulous! They almost always cook the eggs perfectly for that runny yolk too. It comes with home style potatoes and either toast or a pancake. I usually get the toast but this time I opted to try a pancake- it was absolutely HUGE! Bigger than my head haha! But I didn't care for the texture - unfortunately was very rubbery - so I'll stick with toast from now on. I've tried their avocado toast and chicken fried steak breakfasts- both are also excellent. My husband loves their veggie frittata and their omelettes. And for lunches, their quesadillas are absolutely delicious - I love them! Oh and the coffee is ok - not my fave but not terrible. They have regular and flavored creamers so that makes up for it lol. It's always hot and the refills are free. Staff are friendly and somewhat attentive. It can be hit or miss sometimes. Service can be a tad slow, even if they aren't busy so leave yourself extra time. The vibe is very casual and comfy - they have tables but also a bar area and you're surrounded by TVs playing any kind of sports shows you could imagine. They have an updated menu now (as of my last visit March 2023) with updated prices. Their prices used to be fairly reasonable for an airport restaurant- now I'd say they're what you'd expect to pay at an airport restaurant- definitely a bit higher than normal. But the quality and quantity is decent so I'll probably still eat here anytime I'm flying out of Burbank.

I was stranded for four hours at this airport and so I headed over to terminal A and the only restaurant available. Is this one. Physically it does not look good and there was no air conditioning, but I was hungry. I ordered a hamburger which came with fries, which was actually very good, but what made the experience special was a young man by the name of Ladontay. He was effective, cordial, funny, respectful.

The Wet Chicken Burrito was delicious!

What a little gem! We stopped for lunch before a flight and we're really glad we did. The staff are super friendly and the menu is large. It reminded me of a diner. The food was delicious! I enjoyed the Wet Chicken Burrito with a giant cup of hot tea. My wife had the house smoked brisket tacos, initially thinking she was going to save one for our trip, but she ended up eating them both. Lots of tables and we were not rushed at all to leave. A very good pit-stop before our flight.

Perfect spot to grab a classic diner breakfast before your flight. Friendly customer service, affordable prices, large portions. Burbank is already super accessible when it comes to just getting in and out. This eatery adds to that streamline experience.

This is the only place to eat in the airport that is before going through security. We were not flying out today, just buying tickets in person. We had to waste about 45 minutes and didn't want to leave and re-park, so we ate here. This place is not a destination restaurant. They have a guaranteed client pool. If you're flying out, check out your options on the other side of security. That said, it was fine. We went into the place expecting sub par food at airport prices (meaning expense). All as expected. The service, however, was friendly and attentive. The place was not crowded and we were seated immediately. The food still took 20 minutes though... If you're in a hurry, keep that in mind. 4/5: Onion Rings - better than everything else we ate 2/5: Chophouse Burger - just okay 2/5: Red Wet Carne Asada Burrito - "charred green onion, pasilla black beans, cheddar cheese & spanish rice". The spanish rice is not very detectable in the burrito, but the mixed vegetables in it were. That was kind of weird in a burrito. The red sauce was mediocre at best. I mean, it's airport food so this was not unexpected. Food was 2 1/2 stars (ouch). Service was good but cooking was slow. I have to choose 2 or 3 stars, so I'm going to choose down. Next time, I would leave the airport.

    Breakfast quesadilla
    Thomas R.

Showed up early for our flight trying to beat rush hour traffic. We sat in here to have breakfast. The atmosphere isn't the best when you first walk in but once seated the two young ladies that were serving us were very attentive. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, man was it good! The ladies kept my coffee mug full and the food was great! Not too bad value for being in an airport either. It was a little pricey as is airport food but it was a big quesadilla and I left full!

    Pastrami hash and eggs
    Verna K.

Decent breakfast, had the corned beef and hash, just a little bland but it's filling. Coffee was good and service was prompt. Not quite a diner but was good enough.

$25 for a margarita in this small glass ... was not good and way over priced. Not worth it at all!

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

I fell in love before i even saw the menu. Now don't even get me started on that world class water. Best water I've ever consumed. Perfectly cold and delectably drinkable. They have a whole freaking sign for their sauces and dips. I'm in love. I got a Shirley temple and if i could marry a place instead of a person, the Shirley temple would be my reason. It was FANTASTIC. Our server, Isaiah, was absolutely amazing and on top of things, refilling our water before we even hit half glass. Not to mention his energy and vibe was so welcoming and fun. We got the PuPu platter for two, came out within minutes, I could spend the rest of my life eating that alone. Isaiah recommended his favorite sauces, Garlic Chive and Chipotle Citrus, they were amazing. We got the shrimp and lobster roll, I officially entered heaven. The Isles of Club sandwich was the finishing touch that had me laughing from joy. Near the end of our dining we meant Max, another server, who is absolutely fantastic, brought us everything we needed, boxes, sauce containers, bags, to-go dessert. His energy was also amazing and super fun. Now some extra things to note: -I'm not a big mac salad girly, but holy moly guacamole i loved their Mac salad. -anything tempura/fried in this place is heaven itself -their fries are perfect -the vibe is beyond life you might start crying in joy -be ready to want to buy everything on the menu and then some -I downloaded yelp just to leave this review Overall, Broken Compass Tiki is the perfect place for everyone. Broken Compass Tiki is a pirate themed tiki bar in Burbank…read more They don't having a parking lot, but it was very easy to find street parking just around the corner on a Sunday afternoon. The front of the building is a little vaguely marked, and the entrance has speakeasy vibes, which was a surprise. Upon walking in the front door, there is some tiki décor and a small counter in the rear. I remember thinking to myself "what the heck, this is it?". I checked in at the host stand on the left, and was handed me a boarding pass. She then led us through a hidden door behind what looked like a shipping crate. We were now in the real Broken Compass. The interior is a good size. The two-sided bar seats around a dozen. There is a lounge side of the bar that has two large booths along the wall, and another area with comfortable looking couches and lounge chairs. The main dining room has some tiki hut booths, and two sections of tables with half booth and half chair. The décor is pretty extensive with a good mix of pirate, nautical, and tiki themes. There is a lot of bamboo, thatch, rope, cargo netting, skulls and skeletons, port holes, octopus tentacles, jellyfish, tiki lights, and more. The ceiling is dark with various nautical and pirate markings, and even tied up ship sails overhead. The tiki hut booths have the parrots from the enchanted tiki room above them. Even the two restrooms are nautical themed, with beach and marine sounds playing. There is a lot of great décor to look at. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left a few hours later, it was starting to get busy. We decided to sit at the bar. We started out with the buffalo cauliflower ($14) for an afternoon snack. The serving size was generous, and the buffalo sauce had a good tang. It was served with some sauces, and was surprisingly filling. A nice feature of the cocktail menu is that each drink displays one to three compass stars to indicate the strength of the drink. Their cocktails use a great variety of liquors including ones you don't often see. Many of the ingredients are made in-house. I started out with Chupacabra's Vacation (Demerara Rum, Jamacian Rum, Pomegranate Reduction, Cinnamon, Lime Juice, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $17). It is served with a flaming lime on top and a little fire show. It was balanced with a light booziness, some light pomegranate flavor, and a cinnamon sprinkle on top. She started out with the Bittersweet Paradise (Jamacian Rum, White Rum, Campari, Passionfruit Syrup, Lemon, Lime, Pineapple, two-star boozy rank, $18). It didn't drink boozy at all, and was passion fruit forward, with light bitterness. My second cocktail was the Bermuda Dune Buggy (Gin, Overproof Rum, Kumquat Liqueur, Cassis, Orange, Lime, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $18). It had a very unique garnish of a Chartreuse infused gummy which was delicious. The drink was nicely balanced, and didn't really drink boozy even with overproof rum in it. They have a rotating monthly cocktail and she tried the Tropic Like It's Hot (Coconut Washed Lemongrass Infused Rum, Mango, Lemon, Coconut Water, Amaro, $17) which was created by one of our bartenders Daniel. It was served in a Spam can and was light and refreshing with a nice pop of fruit at the start, and a very nice coconut flavor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and had great conversation with our bartenders Daniel and Monica. They also provided excellent service. Broken Compass supports payment with the InKind app which gives you 20% back (10% on Friday and Saturday) in InKind cash. We had a really great time here, and the drinks, food, décor, and atmosphere were excellent. I purchased a Hork (Horse-shaRK) mug for $50 to bring home as a souvenir. We would definitely return again when in the area.
