I was very pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my pre flight dinner meal from the Lunchbox restaurant at the Hollywood Burbank Airport. It was quick and easy, which is perfect for a traveler. Decent Airport Option in BUR Terminal 1 Well actually probably your best option with the biggest selection. Good for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Eat there or take it to go for the flight or gate. The food is whatever and kind of what you expect from a small airport but they do have options for a hot meal. I like the breakfast plate and breakfast stuffed croissant. Never had their sushi and probably never will. Don't want any explosions on the plane :). read more

This place is surprisingly good for an airport restaurant and despite its off-putting look from the terminal. However: it is before security. I like to go directly to the gate even if I'm early due to airport anxiety, so this is a problem for me. Waitstaff is both friendly and efficient. Congrats to them. read more

Ate here yesterday at noon for something good to eat, the food was great, I had the sweet potato burrito bowl. I would have given this place more stars but the hostess with brown hair braids at the front was mistreating her fellow coworkers in the back. I heard her say "shut the f*** up" very loudly, and complaining about some things she asked for to be done like "did you do what asked?" "Can you get me a Pepsi? And an iced tea". Seems like she argues with the cooks a lot. She also says "you're f*****g annoying" by 1240 she's gone, for a few minutes, and the restaurant was more quiet and calm...until the bad apple came back a few minutes later and this negative atmosphere was back. I felt bad for the workers, they work hard to make my food good and don't deserve to be disrespected like that. I'm sorry. More common courtesy, hospitality, and respect needs to be shown here, because this bad attitude and abuse made me sick and not want to eat here again. read more

I ordered a build your own omelette with bacon, spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. Came with toast and hash browns. The cheese was not genuine Swiss, but processed, so it would not have mattered if I ordered it with American. They taste the same. Everything else about the omelette was tasty, fresh, and plenty on the inside. Cooked just right. Hashbrowns were tender and firm. Not mushy at all. Good flavor as well. The wheat toast was delicious and fresh. They serve Peet's coffee. Yes! My favorite. Friendly staff and great service. Great way to start a day of travel. My coworkers are fans of this place and I have to say if you go for a dish that qualifies for the employee discount, it might be worth it if your body can do damage control. I've been working at BUR airport for a few years now and I've visited this place about 3 or 4 times. From memory, twice I had the basic with bacon, potatoes and eggs and once I had the breakfast burrito. I kind of wish they'd get with the anti-styrofoam wave and realize I don't need a full battery of plastic ware to eat a burrito. If you order scrambled eggs, you're in the safe zone, but my over medium eggs came out full cooked. Bacon is greasy and inedible. I don't know what's going on with the potatoes, but they look like they put their potatoes through a hand-pulled noodle press without a trace of crispness or flavor. The burrito was a giant mass of tortilla, cheddar cheese, chewy ham, egg and potato thrown together with so little finesse or care, I apologized to myself personally for any repercussions. I have nothing to say about any non-breakfast items, but I have to say, I'm a little scared to try. We'll see if my stomach and I can comes to terms. read more

Waiting for my flight home, I decided to stop by in here for a bite to eat, as I wanted something other than greasy foods. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Bento Box, while it wasn't as good as dining at a real Japanese Restaurant in my home city; it was a better choice than others. I did find that the tuna was bland, and there's excessive amount of sugar on the salad and the tuna. The menu did contain other meals, including salads, burritos, tacos, wraps, and sandwiches. On the upside of things, I was able to get cocktail from the bar - so a nice way of relaxing while waiting for my flight home. read more

Great little coffee shop in the Bob Hope Burbank Airport Terminal just outside the security checkpoint; so eat first before going through security. Lisa the hostess and cashier was most helpful and friendly and I enjoyed my conversation with her very much. I had a breakfast sandwich, which is my benchmark for little dinners, and found it exceptional. Service here was great as well. Only in California will you be lucky to find an airport restaurant that serves tasty sushi! The choices at Lunchbox are plenty. They have about a dozen sushi rolls to pick from, plus salads, juices and even a cooked bar with Italian food, sandwiches, chips and drinks. Lots of seating. Burbank is one of my favorite domestic airports. read more

Wow...I just ordered the Classic Breakfast here while waiting for a flight. What a disaster. She brought over a plate with a piece of hard French bread with some oleo on it, and then the 'breakfast' was served in a styrofoam box. The pre-made scrambled eggs were oily an appeared to be sitting in that box for a while. The potatoes were tasteless. The bacon was the microwave kind and brittle as potato chips. You may say, What do you expect at an airport? I've had breakfast at airport places many times, and you can do much better than this. What this was is a simple lack of effort. For $11, a major disappointment. I recommend just waiting to eat wherever it is you're going, even if that's on the other side of the country. read more

I'm glad the Burbank airport has a few food options and I'm really glad this place is in the Southwest terminal. I've gotten a few salads to-go from here, all "freshly" made (aka tossed in front of you) and it comes with a breadstick for the low price of $12.99 (yes that's sarcasm)...but...theres a lot of chicken and actual bacon in there (not the bits). After filing a complaint with one of the managers they gave me a suggestion and a piece of knowledge that I will pass on to yelp she said there are other options than lunchbox and she is absolutely right no one should ever have to wait an hour to two hours in line for there lunch they extend a discount to its employees and say because we are a form of family but family should never be treated like this and neither should regular patrons. Because there are other options I would suggest subway Starbucks any other eatery that's at the main entrance of the airport my suggestion pick up your food before you come to the airport save yourself an additional eight dollars and at least these big establishments care enough about their customers to make things right. read more

Definitely follows the rule that a restaurant critic developed - "the more televisions in a restaurant, the harder the food and service will suck". This place used to be the best airport cafe that I knew of - even looked forward to pre-flight breakfast. But with every new TV, the service and food quality drop. Makes sense, as cooks, mangers, servers know that patrons are only partly paying attention to the meal, and not really showing respect to food service professionals that deserved it. Still room for a move to one star when they put TVs on the ceiling. Burger place inside the terminal still cares about what they are doing. As I think more about this, I think what's happened is that the wonderful folks who owned this place have retired, and have turned it over to the "next generation". This restaurant/bar is way bigger than it looks when I fly past it to the security lines. Last night, I didn't have a flight scheduled. I was just killing time until my wonderful husband could pick me up from the airport after being stranded on the train tracks. Did the bartender know the difference between a cab and chard? No. But they have a couple of IPAs on tap and are very friendly and I would definitely come here again if I had to kill time at the airport. read more

Location: In the Southwest terminal at Bob Hope Airport. Diner-style menu with airport-style prices. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I ordered the 911 wrap, and it had good flavor and texture. The only real drawback to this dish was that they plate it oddly, with the slaw heaped in the middle between four pieces of wrap on edge. This leads to a wet, messy wrap to eat. Yes, it was a pretty plate, but function over form, please. My traveling companions seemed relatively happy with their food as well, so I'm cautiously optimistic that this wasn't purely luck of finding the one decent item on the menu. Wow it was packed on a Friday night and all the Southwest flights were delayed. Luckily I grabbed a table and got service rather than just doing the cafeteria thing. I actually loved my salad. They let me customize it and it was pretty good for airport food. I believe I got like a Mexican style caesar salad. Service was decent given that it was completely swamped. I usually stop at Lunchbox when I'm starving at Bob Hope International. The custom made salads are pretty tasty considering the their options in the airport. The portions are large, and you can easily customize any salad to your liking. The to go containers make it easy to take your salad on the plane. The other items here are just about average. Nothing special. If Lunchbox was outside of the airport, I'm not sure I would frequent the establishment. However, with its prime location in Bob Hope, I do end up stopping frequently. read more

It's an okay place I don't expect awesome food at an airport restaurant. They have shock top on tap and a really nice lounge-like seating area with TVs at the bar and dining area. Service was ok. Located by gate 3 in Terminal A, Lunchbox offers a variety of good eats like pasta, pizza, salad, and sushi. Everything is made to order and great quality for airport food. I had their chicken caesar salad which comes with homemade rosemary croutons, parmesan cheese, grilled chicken pieces, and fresh lettuce.. I loved my salad and was impressed with the taste and quality of everything! Their salads come with a mini baguette and my total came to $17 for my meal and a Snapple. This was the healthiest thing I could find aside from the fast food restaurant Cheezburger which was located between gates 5 and 6.. I will definitely be returning here whenever I am at the Burbank airport! read more

When I have to fly to LA for business, I choose Burbank airport just so I can eat at the lunch box. I have had many meals here, and the selections are fabulous, not even close to your typical airport fare. The cooks do a great job. I love this place. read more
