The service was extremely disappointing. Our waiter seated us and immediately walked away. When he finally returned, he asked if everything was okay, and we requested water. He came back again, asked the same question, and once again we had to ask for water. Instead of paying attention to his tables, he appeared to be watching the TV. Another waiter eventually noticed we still didn't have water and brought it to us. Our waiter later asked if we wanted bread, and we said yes. After another long wait, he brought us the appetizer bread, which came with an extra charge. We never ordered an appetizer and reasonably assumed he was offering the complimentary table bread. At no point did he explain there would be a charge. A different waiter ended up bringing out our meals. Our assigned waiter was virtually absent for the rest of the meal and didn't return until it was time to drop off the check. The service was inattentive, unprofessional, and lacked even the most basic communication. It was frustrating to have another server step in repeatedly while our own waiter was nowhere to be found. Once again I was traveling on business and we were walking by and heard a man playing the accordion inside. We made plans for the next night and weren't disappointed. The interior has both open areas as well as tucked away window seats. It had a simple Italian ambiance. The owner was very engaged with us and shared his excitement for an upcoming cook off with a chef from asan Francisco. He explained the menu he planned to serve with such passion. We started off with the grilled octopus which was perfectly cooked. I had the lamb shank and my friends had different pasta dishes. Everything was well done and elegantly plated. Finally got in here to tried the food. Possibly the most opposite experience I ever had with a restaurant. I have to eat my words from my first experience. Great Italian style restaurant, small and intimate. The service was great, the owner himself was serving and shaking hands with the customers. The rest of the staff were fantastic, and the entire experience was smooth and enjoyable. I ordered were lamb shank, lined with a bed of mash potatoes, and veggies, with the most delicious gravy. Making reservations for Christmas eve dinner was super easy but the website didnt mention a Prix fixe menu for the nights. Know we know. Overall the food was good quality. Braised short ribs were tender and tasty. Chicken carbonara was a bit bland. Salmon was tasty. Soup and salads were delicious. Tiramasu for dessert was super tasty. Worth the visit. Decided to try a new Italian spot in Todos Santos Plaza after living here for about a year. Was able to walk in on a Saturday night and grab a table for two even though it was pretty busy. Started with the caprese and mista salad to share and it was fantastic flavor and great portions. The caprese was a bit plain to me but still okay. I'd probably skip it next time. My wife got the pesto chicken pasta and I got the carbonara. Flavors were incredible and the portion size wasn't your typical "family style" giant bowl - which I appreciated. We finished both plates. We came to Concord quite often but never went to that corner of the street. Inside was very old fashion Italian deco, and they played Frank Sinatra song through the night which is my son's favorite, he loved it immediately. We started with the beat salad, loved the salad dressing very much. It gave the salad a refreshing kick. My seafood cioppino was topped with fresh crab meat but the clam and mussel was a little dry. My son ordered Carbonara and he said it was perfect. Dessert was excellent, very nice presentation, raspberry sauce was not overly sweet. We also asked to added the Mozart liquor to the coffee. It's my favorite way to drink coffee as the dessert. The server, "V" did exactly what we requested for the coffee. Nice restaurant in the Willow Pass area with ample street parking. Restaurant is not that big, but it's big enough where this place need more than one waiter and one helper. The waiter tried his best, but it was a good half hour before we were able to place our order. There was a gentlemen playing live music which made it challenging for conversation. Overall the food quality is very good. The garlic bread was fresh garlic started the meal well, paired with stuff mushroom and carpaccio. For the app, the fish special (Sea Bass) was cooked well but the portion appeared smaller compared to the beef special (rib eye) that was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Their pasta was top notch and flavor was perfect. Their dessert is something not to miss. I suggest pairing whatever dessert with their affogato (my favorite was the panna cotta and tiramisu). read more

Went here for a work lunch last month. The staff is super nice, but I felt the service was pretty lacking. I can understand it's a small restaurant and they have a small staff, but aside from a few small occupied tables, we were their only customers (our group was maybe 15ish people if I recall correctly). It took a long time for things to come out and for orders to be taken (or in my case, ordering things and things just not coming out at all after multiple asks); I don't know if the wait times were intentional to let us not feel rushed, but I felt they could have sped things up, as the lunch was probably 2+ hours or so when it could have been all wrapped up within 1:30. If it was super busy, I would have more empathy but that just wasn't the case. I personally asked for several things that never came or came extremely late. I asked for a water glass (as they had a bunch of water pitchers on the table) that took at least 2-3 asks before arriving. I also asked for a coffee at least 2-3 times after lunch, to not only our waiter but who I presume to be the owner too -- they continually told me it was coming out but never did. I eventually just gave up asking. I know one of my colleagues also ordered something and was given something else; we all agreed he had ordered "X" clearly, but still received "Y". They were quick to resolve but just contributed to the overall subpar experience. I ended up ordering the ribeye special; probably should have tempered my expectations as I'm ordering a steak at an Italian restaurant, but was craving some steak so took a gamble on it. It was just ok, but had a lot of fat. I suggest going with an Italian dish for future diners. The appetizers we had were tasty, but not worth the wait time. Parking is also a little confusing; some spots seem earmarked for certain establishments with appropriate signage and some don't. I just parked in a random spot in the back and thankfully had no issues. Overall, while the ambiance is nice, the overall experience left something to be desired. read more

It began the start of the meal with anticipation of what would be served. Every person enjoyed what they ordered. Only one person would change what they would order the next time we ate here. Let's start. Pesto with pieces of chicken. The person who ordered this lives pesto and makes pesto at home so he knows what truly great pesto taste like. He loved the pesto and cleaned his plate completely, but said, he wished the chicken wasn't added to this pesto dish. Maybe the chicken meat should be on the side or another meat needed to replace the chicken. Perhaps pork or lamb. He would not order this again if chicken was added, but the pesto sauce was so delicious. Meatballs with Linguine This was a big hit with my friend's 7 year old daughter. She ate almost everything and brought the rest home. Normally, she would leave what she didn't like , but not today. I may consider ordering this next time because it is definitely a delicious comfort food I grew up with. Short Ribs If you look at the picture, you can see how delicious it was. The presentation was impressive and the experience eating this was memorable. The person said he would order it again. This person loves meat so if he says he would order it again, you know the dish is worth trying! Pescatore This is a Frutti de Mare type of dish. The tomato sauce base with different types of seafood was wonderful. There was the right amount of each seafood and I enjoyed every bite. I would say this is my comfort food and would order it again. As for the desserts, you can go wrong with any of them. I would have ordered the Creme Brulee,but will order it next time. Luna's Restaurant is consistently good. IF YOU ARE A BLACK OR BROWN PERSON, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! I went here for my birthday and experienced some of the worst customer service in my life. It took the server a long time to bring us our drinks and even longer just to bring us our salads. We even noticed that people who were seated long after us received their food BEFORE us. The food took so long that we were about to flag down a waiter and ask for our food to go, but just then, our main course was FINALLY brought out. Also, the check took a long time to be brought to us as well. When the waiter finally brought it, he practically threw it on the table and left. Now, I'm used to the waiter bringing the check and waiting for me to give them my debit card so they can go process the payment promptly. Not so in this case. My sister had to flag a waiter down just to come get our check to process the payment and to get a takeout box for the rest of her food. And, we noticed that we were the only Black people in a restaurant full of white people. And to my knowledge, no one else received the awful service we did. No one even came to check on us while we were eating to see if everything was alright or if we needed anything, but they did that for everyone else in the restaurant. I can only assume we were racially discriminated against. As for the ambiance, that was awful too. As soon as we sat down, flies swarmed us. This place has an infestation of flies. We had to keep swatting them away from our faces the whole time we were there. The food was good, but I couldn't really enjoy it when I had to swat flies away from my head every couple of minutes. There were flies everywhere. We even found a gnat crawling on the tablecloth. Also, the table linens where the silverware was kept was dirty. I've never shoveled food into my mouth so fast to get out of a restaurant before in my life. We were going to get dessert initially, but after the awful service and all the flies, we did not want to give these people more money. Now, for the icing on the cake, I did not give them a tip when I paid for the food because they did not deserve one. I wrote zero dollars. Several days later, I'm checking my bank transactions and I noticed that the pending amount of the transaction for the restaurant is different from the posted amount. The posted amount was higher. They added their own $15 tip WITHOUT my consent. I had to dispute the transaction with my bank to get the money bank. This has NEVER happened to me before in my life. It was crazy. You can't force people to give you a tip if they received awful service. A tip is completely optional. I guess they thought they deserved a tip so they took it within my permission and thought I wouldn't notice. That is so tacky and low-class. Save your money and avoid this place. I really enjoyed my experience here! Came in on a Friday evening. Was fairly empty when we arrived but filled up quickly. It's a small and intimate setting, and also includes a bar. After being there for 20 minutes or so there were already several parties waiting to be seated, so I wouldn't come too late. There was an older gentleman playing an accordion which was loud but felt like it was true Italian style and I got pretty used to it after a while. The food was delicious! I looove the bruschetta! I ordered the short ribs which were super tender and delicious. It included mash and veggies which were also really good. My wife had the calamari appetizer. We weren't the biggest fan of the calamari, batter was a little thick and oddly sweet. But the squid on the inside seemed fresh which was nice. I asked for a wine recommendation with my short ribs and was recommended the Fantini Sangiovese. I'm not a big fan of red but it paired well with the short ribs and it also delivered a nice buzz! lol lastly we got the spumoni dessert. The ice cream was really thick and creamy, the chocolate was rich and the pistachio was delicious. Lastly, the service was amazing! Juan was our server and he's fantastic! He made sure to check in frequently and made our visit really enjoyable! I love his vibe/energy, made our dining experience that much better. I also noticed some other men running meals, who I'm thinking may be the owners. It's really nice to see the owners get out there and help the staff/interact with the guests. They do have it as a large portion too but I wanted to try a pasta dish. Wouldn't hesitate coming back just for the salad! For the pasta I ordered the mushroom ravioli. It's very rich but so flavorful. I had fasted 24 hours prior so I enjoyed the entire portion. Nothing needed any additional seasoning because they nailed everything. The service was excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I came here for dinner a few days ago, and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left I felt welcomed, the food was amazing and the service impeccable. I ordered the Mista salad, which was really great. I usually like a mixed green salad and this was a nice hearty serving and really tasty especially with the vinaigrette. The server we had may have also been the manager, we had two people helping us and they were both extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and kept us with a good conversation. I ordered the cioppino for my meal and OMG, not only do you get a great serving size but it came up piping hot and just delicious. The only thing I would say I would like to add is maybe some bruschetta or something on the side or some French bread or something? Other than that, though the meal was great. I had a pear drink and it was actually very good. I was surprised of the small size of the glass, but it was very tasty. I was on a date here and my date ordered fettuccine Alfredo which he said was really delicious. I like the decor of the place, definitely feels like you were in Little Italy. So because this was the date, we talked and talked and didn't realize that the restaurant had closed. But the guy that I think is the manager came over and asked if we wanted a dessert still. They are super accommodating and let us stay until we were ready to go. I definitely wanna come back here again and try some of their wines! They have a really great selection! Also, the prices are super reasonable. I think the salad was only seven bucks and I think the meal was about 30. Very reasonable! For dessert, we have the molten cake which came with a really wonderful side of maybe it was butterscotch? So you could dip your cake and ice cream in it. Very nice touch! The reservation was made well in advance. Our families recently gathered to celebrate a special birthday. I believe Juan, a petite and soft-spoken gentleman, was our server's name, as it was shown on our check. First, our group arrived a few minutes early, and Juan, along with another employee, was somewhat rude as they stood by the bar and pointed us to our table. They didn't even walk us over, as most restaurants do. Juan then hurried back to focus on presenting the daily specials. My pet peeve is that Juan should have mentioned the cost of "tonight's specials" so customers wouldn't have to ask. The attitude of 'if you had to ask, you can't afford it' isn't acceptable. He also didn't tell us whether the special was available in half portions -- we had to ask to clarify that he took the order as we intended. The appetizers and main courses were inconsistent. We ordered a wide variety of salads, appetizers, specials, and regular entrees. The most disappointing dish was the lasagna, which arrived very soupy. We were not impressed by our waiter's lack of acknowledgment of our table's special birthday. Our birthday girl's dessert was purchased -- it wasn't even complimentary. It wouldn't have been difficult to add a small candle. Not even a 'Happy Birthday' was written on her dessert plate. It left us all feeling flat from our arrival at the restaurant to the end of our meal. The only enjoyable moment was the live accordion music, which played toward the end of the evening. This is one of our favorite local restaurants. In fact my husband proposed to me here so this year we celebrated our anniversary here. The owner, Habib, is so friendly and seems to always be working. He makes sure the service is always top notch. We have never had a bad meal. My husband's favorite entree is the chicken piccata. I usually order the short rib. We love to split an order of mussels as an appetizer along with a salad. The restaurant is small so it never hurst to make a reservation. There is a full bar with seating so if you would like to enjoy a nice dinner alone you can always sit there. This is a great place for a small group or a solo dinner. Wednesday night our dinner out with friends at Luna was interesting. Our entrees were delicious, yet not served at the same time. First, two pastas for the gentleman arrived, followed ten minutes later by a yummy lamb shank for one lady, then a tasty serving of veal for the other lady about five minutes later. Parmesan for the pastas arrived with the veal... Our server was very nice, yet brought another serving of wine we didn't order, since we already had wine, but he poured the extra serving into one of our glasses. Of course, we thought it was a nice gesture for serving our entrees late, but no...we were charged for the extra glass of wine. We think he was confused about who ordered extra wine. Then our server brought us a complimentary slice of tiramisu, which was delicious and shared between the four of us. Tonight we celebrated my husband's birthday at Luna's and it was exceptional! The service was the best - the wait staff watched all of the customers and ignored no one! Instead of looking away, as many restaurant workers do - busy, distracted, or whatever.... all of the waiters looked right at us, asked if we needed anything, and made us feel like valued customers! They were patient, kind, informative and helpful too! I am inquisitive - I ask questions. Every question I asked was politely and fully answered. This meant how I would like to adapt the salad with dressing on the side, Could I opt out of the fabulous sauce on the veal shank (I just prefer no gravy)... and our waiter asked if we would like to share a salad. He was very patient with us figuring out exactly what we wanted to order, and it was perfect and delicious! Beet salad - but way more than beets! In the center of the plate was am exotic selection of fresh lettuces. Dressing the greens was a generous serving of goat cheese with just enough crunchy bread crumb topping. And of course - the beets! They were perfectly cooked red and golden beets, again in a generous and just right portion size! We ordered the dressing on the side, and the salad by itself was delicious! Adding just a bit of dressing brought out the beauty of the flavor of the beets, while the greens and toppings completed the fabulous taste! And the food - it was absolutely THE BEST! We both ordered braised lamb shanks and the lamb melted in my mouth. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection - most tasty! The creamy, smooth potatoes sat under the lamb shank, catching the tasty drippings and making each bite YUM! The portions were generous and just the right size! Surrounding the gorgeous lamb shank was a beautiful serving of fresh, roasted veggies! The zucchini was cooked to perfect "just slightly crunchy", while the gorgeous butternut squash retained it's deep orange hues and slightly sweet, deep flavor. Carrots rounded out the veggie selection, and again - perfectly cooked! This beautiful dish was garnished with micro-greens - flavorful and fresh, with a bit of crunch too. The "house" bread... it was so light and airy, with a beautiful grain. The golden crust was crunchy and begged to "sop up" the lamb shank's flavorful drippings and gravy. Yes, a wonderful dinner at a "new to us" place that we will be going back to. The owner was so nice and fun to just chat a bit with! The wait staff was knowledgeable, attentive and busy! The bar does a great business, fun to watch and try another night.... we were ready to get the check and head out.... when my husband was served a deliciously beautiful slice of tiramisu with a candle atop. Thank goodness no one sang Happy Birthday... at this age we were just happy to have such a wonderful dining experience with great food! Went here for my birthday and had a mixed experience. Our waiter was very nice at first, shared the specials, and was attentive throughout dinner. After we declined dessert, I saw him walk out of the restaurant with his backpack and assumed he was taking a break. However, he never came back, and no one checked on our table afterward. We later found out he had gone off shift without transitioning us to another server or closing out the table, so the manager eventually helped us. The food was good overall, but every dish had a very similar honey-style sauce, so the flavors felt repetitive. Nice meal overall, but probably not somewhere I'd return to. read more
