Finally got in here to tried the food. Possibly the most opposite experience I ever had with a restaurant. I have to eat my words from my first experience. Great Italian style restaurant, small and intimate. The service was great, the owner himself was serving and shaking hands with the customers. The rest of the staff were fantastic, and the entire experience was smooth and enjoyable. I ordered were lamb shank, lined with a bed of mash potatoes, and veggies, with the most delicious gravy. I ate the whole thing in about ten mins. Carbonara and Lobster raviolis were ordered as well. Both were excellent, but the lamb shank was the best in my opinion. read more

I have been here many times, but last night was a disappointment. One of my girlfriends took me out for my birthday dinner. I had taken her out last year for her birthday at Luna and at the end of the evening she was presented a lovely dessert on the house . Really pleased us both. No acknowledgment of my birthday last evening,even seeing gifts on the table which (Habib the owner)moved to make room for our plates. We both ordered the mushroom ravioli, which we had the last time. This time the raviolis had been cooked ahead of time because they were dry on the edges. We should've sent it back, but we didn't. Both of us are very good cooks so we know how easy it is to cook raviolis. I also cash purchased two containers of minestrone soup to go after we were finished our meal. I gave the server a $20 bill and all that came back was four dollars which means they kept the additional change. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but, you don't round up and keep the change. We will look for another place to celebrate our birthdays. read more

Went here for a work lunch last month. The staff is super nice, but I felt the service was pretty lacking. I can understand it's a small restaurant and they have a small staff, but aside from a few small occupied tables, we were their only customers (our group was maybe 15ish people if I recall correctly). It took a long time for things to come out and for orders to be taken (or in my case, ordering things and things just not coming out at all after multiple asks); I don't know if the wait times were intentional to let us not feel rushed, but I felt they could have sped things up, as the lunch was probably 2+ hours or so when it could have been all wrapped up within 1:30. If it was super busy, I would have more empathy but that just wasn't the case. I personally asked for several things that never came or came extremely late. I asked for a water glass (as they had a bunch of water pitchers on the table) that took at least 2-3 asks before arriving. I also asked for a coffee at least 2-3 times after lunch, to not only our waiter but who I presume to be the owner too -- they continually told me it was coming out but never did. I eventually just gave up asking. I know one of my colleagues also ordered something and was given something else; we all agreed he had ordered "X" clearly, but still received "Y". They were quick to resolve but just contributed to the overall subpar experience. I ended up ordering the ribeye special; probably should have tempered my expectations as I'm ordering a steak at an Italian restaurant, but was craving some steak so took a gamble on it. It was just ok, but had a lot of fat. I suggest going with an Italian dish for future diners. The appetizers we had were tasty, but not worth the wait time. Parking is also a little confusing; some spots seem earmarked for certain establishments with appropriate signage and some don't. I just parked in a random spot in the back and thankfully had no issues. Overall, while the ambiance is nice, the overall experience left something to be desired. read more

The reservation was made well in advance. Our families recently gathered to celebrate a special birthday. I believe Juan, a petite and soft-spoken gentleman, was our server's name, as it was shown on our check. First, our group arrived a few minutes early, and Juan, along with another employee, was somewhat rude as they stood by the bar and pointed us to our table. They didn't even walk us over, as most restaurants do. Juan then hurried back to focus on presenting the daily specials. My pet peeve is that Juan should have mentioned the cost of "tonight's specials" so customers wouldn't have to ask. The attitude of 'if you had to ask, you can't afford it' isn't acceptable. He also didn't tell us whether the special was available in half portions -- we had to ask to clarify that he took the order as we intended. The appetizers and main courses were inconsistent. We ordered a wide variety of salads, appetizers, specials, and regular entrees. The most disappointing dish was the lasagna, which arrived very soupy. We were not impressed by our waiter's lack of acknowledgment of our table's special birthday. Our birthday girl's dessert was purchased -- it wasn't even complimentary. It wouldn't have been difficult to add a small candle. Not even a 'Happy Birthday' was written on her dessert plate. It left us all feeling flat from our arrival at the restaurant to the end of our meal. The only enjoyable moment was the live accordion music, which played toward the end of the evening. Making reservations for Christmas eve dinner was super easy but the website didnt mention a Prix fixe menu for the nights. Know we know. Overall the food was good quality. Braised short ribs were tender and tasty. Chicken carbonara was a bit bland. Salmon was tasty. Soup and salads were delicious. Tiramasu for dessert was super tasty. Worth the visit. Will be back for a regular meal and the normal menu so the wife can try other dishes. read more

Decided to try a new Italian spot in Todos Santos Plaza after living here for about a year. Was able to walk in on a Saturday night and grab a table for two even though it was pretty busy. Started with the caprese and mista salad to share and it was fantastic flavor and great portions. The caprese was a bit plain to me but still okay. I'd probably skip it next time. My wife got the pesto chicken pasta and I got the carbonara. Flavors were incredible and the portion size wasn't your typical "family style" giant bowl - which I appreciated. We finished both plates. Located on busy Willow pass road, this is a great Italian restaurant for family and friends. I loved their bruschetta, which are garlic bread with delicious toppings: tomatoes, olive tapenade, and goat cheese. For your entree, I would recommend their Gamberi: crab meat and jumbo shrimp in a garlic white or red sauce. We live in Walnut Creek and dine out often. Want try some where new couple nights ago. Thought give this place a try. Lucky pick for the night! We came to Concord quite often but never went to that corner of the street. Inside was very old fashion Italian deco, and they played Frank Sinatra song through the night which is my son's favorite, he loved it immediately. We started with the beat salad, loved the salad dressing very much. It gave the salad a refreshing kick. My seafood cioppino was topped with fresh crab meat but the clam and mussel was a little dry. My son ordered Carbonara and he said it was perfect. Dessert was excellent, very nice presentation, raspberry sauce was not overly sweet. We also asked to added the Mozart liquor to the coffee. It's my favorite way to drink coffee as the dessert. The server, "V" did exactly what we requested for the coffee. He was very friendly and treated every customer like his family member or close friend. Love the place. Good food, good ambiance, great service and a dash of history. We will visit often. read more

Nice restaurant in the Willow Pass area with ample street parking. Restaurant is not that big, but it's big enough where this place need more than one waiter and one helper. The waiter tried his best, but it was a good half hour before we were able to place our order. There was a gentlemen playing live music which made it challenging for conversation. Overall the food quality is very good. The garlic bread was fresh garlic started the meal well, paired with stuff mushroom and carpaccio. For the app, the fish special (Sea Bass) was cooked well but the portion appeared smaller compared to the beef special (rib eye) that was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Their pasta was top notch and flavor was perfect. Their dessert is something not to miss. I suggest pairing whatever dessert with their affogato (my favorite was the panna cotta and tiramisu). read more

Luna's never fails in the quality of food they serve. We had a wonderful waiter who made us a fresca type drink which was delicious! It began the start of the meal with anticipation of what would be served. Every person enjoyed what they ordered. Only one person would change what they would order the next time we ate here. Let's start. Pesto with pieces of chicken. The person who ordered this lives pesto and makes pesto at home so he knows what truly great pesto taste like. He loved the pesto and cleaned his plate completely, but said, he wished the chicken wasn't added to this pesto dish. Maybe the chicken meat should be on the side or another meat needed to replace the chicken. Perhaps pork or lamb. He would not order this again if chicken was added, but the pesto sauce was so delicious. Meatballs with Linguine This was a big hit with my friend's 7 year old daughter. She ate almost everything and brought the rest home. Normally, she would leave what she didn't like , but not today. I may consider ordering this next time because it is definitely a delicious comfort food I grew up with. Short Ribs If you look at the picture, you can see how delicious it was. The presentation was impressive and the experience eating this was memorable. The person said he would order it again. This person loves meat so if he says he would order it again, you know the dish is worth trying! Pescatore This is a Frutti de Mare type of dish. The tomato sauce base with different types of seafood was wonderful. There was the right amount of each seafood and I enjoyed every bite. I would say this is my comfort food and would order it again. As for the desserts, you can go wrong with any of them. I would have ordered the Creme Brulee,but will order it next time. Luna's Restaurant is consistently good. This is why we like to support it and feel blessed Concord has such an exemplary Italian restaurant! It beats or stands equal to any Italian restaurant in San Francisco. This is one of our favorite local restaurants. In fact my husband proposed to me here so this year we celebrated our anniversary here. The owner, Habib, is so friendly and seems to always be working. He makes sure the service is always top notch. We have never had a bad meal. My husband's favorite entree is the chicken piccata. I usually order the short rib. We love to split an order of mussels as an appetizer along with a salad. The restaurant is small so it never hurst to make a reservation. There is a full bar with seating so if you would like to enjoy a nice dinner alone you can always sit there. This is a great place for a small group or a solo dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I came here for dinner a few days ago, and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left I felt welcomed, the food was amazing and the service impeccable. I ordered the Mista salad, which was really great. I usually like a mixed green salad and this was a nice hearty serving and really tasty especially with the vinaigrette. The server we had may have also been the manager, we had two people helping us and they were both extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and kept us with a good conversation. I ordered the cioppino for my meal and OMG, not only do you get a great serving size but it came up piping hot and just delicious. The only thing I would say I would like to add is maybe some bruschetta or something on the side or some French bread or something? Other than that, though the meal was great. I had a pear drink and it was actually very good. I was surprised of the small size of the glass, but it was very tasty. I was on a date here and my date ordered fettuccine Alfredo which he said was really delicious. I like the decor of the place, definitely feels like you were in Little Italy. So because this was the date, we talked and talked and didn't realize that the restaurant had closed. But the guy that I think is the manager came over and asked if we wanted a dessert still. They are super accommodating and let us stay until we were ready to go. I definitely wanna come back here again and try some of their wines! They have a really great selection! Also, the prices are super reasonable. I think the salad was only seven bucks and I think the meal was about 30. Very reasonable! For dessert, we have the molten cake which came with a really wonderful side of maybe it was butterscotch? So you could dip your cake and ice cream in it. Very nice touch! The parking is pretty easy too, we did come on a Monday though so there's that but this place is tucked away in Todos Santos Plaza, and pretty easy to find. read more

I really enjoyed my experience here! Came in on a Friday evening. Was fairly empty when we arrived but filled up quickly. It's a small and intimate setting, and also includes a bar. After being there for 20 minutes or so there were already several parties waiting to be seated, so I wouldn't come too late. There was an older gentleman playing an accordion which was loud but felt like it was true Italian style and I got pretty used to it after a while. The food was delicious! I looove the bruschetta! I ordered the short ribs which were super tender and delicious. It included mash and veggies which were also really good. My wife had the calamari appetizer. We weren't the biggest fan of the calamari, batter was a little thick and oddly sweet. But the squid on the inside seemed fresh which was nice. I asked for a wine recommendation with my short ribs and was recommended the Fantini Sangiovese. I'm not a big fan of red but it paired well with the short ribs and it also delivered a nice buzz! lol lastly we got the spumoni dessert. The ice cream was really thick and creamy, the chocolate was rich and the pistachio was delicious. Lastly, the service was amazing! Juan was our server and he's fantastic! He made sure to check in frequently and made our visit really enjoyable! I love his vibe/energy, made our dining experience that much better. I also noticed some other men running meals, who I'm thinking may be the owners. It's really nice to see the owners get out there and help the staff/interact with the guests. The food was fresh with amazing flavors! Ordered the bread with Olives and pesto oil. Wonderful flavor with garlic taking center stage. For starters had the small caprese salad and it was wonderful. They do have it as a large portion too but I wanted to try a pasta dish. Wouldn't hesitate coming back just for the salad! For the pasta I ordered the mushroom ravioli. It's very rich but so flavorful. I had fasted 24 hours prior so I enjoyed the entire portion. Nothing needed any additional seasoning because they nailed everything. The service was excellent! I came here for a work lunch with four coworkers, and it was the perfect spot to relax, eat, and chat. The atmosphere was calm--not too busy--and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Luna is my local favorite Italian restaurant. Enjoyed a lovely dinner on our recent trip. My wife loved her chicken pesto dish. We split the beet salad, which was perfect size to split. My dinner was the special - a nice rib eye perfectly cooked (med-rare) with a great mushroom sauce, tasty baked bread, lovely veggies and potatoes on the side. We had 9 people to dine. Come to find out the chief and own was on vacation. My son's fish was under cooked and my grandaughter,s pasta was burnt. My grandson asked for his steak to be medium, but was bloody. He ate his anyway. My ravioli were fine. This is the first time this happened. Im sure because they were both on vacation. I walked in looking very out of order as i had just gotten off a 13 hour shift, the server seated my right away without even a second thought. I had to dash to my car to quickly grab my wallet and he had no problem! once i got my food, it was exceptional. the best italian i've had to date! Also about half way in, a man with an accordion set up and began playing. the ambiance was through the roof, everything was amazing. as i write this im ordering the affogato and i expect it to be as amazing as everything else. Cute little restaurant that I have been to a few times and enjoyed their Primavera Pasta with the Alfredo sauce and chicken...except for last night. The dish is supposed to be served with mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, zucchini and tomatoes. My dish came with two tiny-pieces of zucchini, carrots, and butternut squash. Nothing else as it was listed on the menu. The chicken was so overdone. We asked the waiter if we got the correct dish. When he checked with the chef, he was told the reason the dish was made completely different was because she was having a long day. What?I don't know that means when we were there for a 6 PM dinner. I came here for lunch with my daughter. I was very happy their air conditioner was keeping the restaurant cool and comfortable. I hate dining in a hot restaurant. Our server/bartender was friendly. He made a refreshing mocktail for me. I can't remember the name... but it had peach and lime flavor. While waiting for our entrees, we were served with complimentary focaccia bread. It was light and airy. We shared a mista salad. It was very good with lots of nuts. I ordered the Salmon entree with champagne mushroom dill sauce. YUM!!! The veggies had a nice cinnamon flavor and the mashed potatoes were creamy. My daughter ordered a "surprised" Chicken... she couldn't decide Marsala or piccata sauce. Our server picked the Marsala sauce. It was rich and flavorful. It was a tad too sweet for me. The owner came over to check on us. He informed us of a Moroccan Dinner Night with belly dancers. Luna is a great Local restaurant for us to go to. Friendly staff awaits you. I wasn't that impressed my last time eating there as I felt the portion size definitely decreased. I had the short ribs with mash potatoes and I had minimal mash potatoes with minimal sauce. Like 3 fork bites worth, it was an imbalanced portion paired with my short ribs and minimal burnt vegetables. I based this from my previous visit as I had the same dish with no issues. Great food, but the space was uncomfortably hot (no AC) and extremely loud with live accordion music. Service was slow, we were one of the first parties seated (party of 4) but we had to ask for our food as other patrons who arrived after us were served first. Most concerning, my elderly uncle was injured by the heavy bathroom door, which swung shut on him, causing bruising and bleeding. He asked for a bandage but the staff had no first aid supplies and offered no assistance. The restroom setup didn't seem ADA compliant. Hoping the restaurant addresses these safety and comfort issues. My aunt and uncle used to be frequent patrons but we won't be coming back. read more

I would have liked a bigger side portion of veggies, but it was good. Service was a tad slow as I need to ask for water and pepper, but overall this place was good. I was excited about French Night at Luna for my birthday. I'm a very good home cook and love French food, a lot if which I cook myself. I did Luna French Night tonight but it was a HUGE disappointment, especially for a $75 prix fixe. The appetizer escargots consisted of 4 naked snails atop a film of EVOO - no delicious garlic butter as is traditional; the snails were accompanied with melba-like toasts with a sticky sweet drizzle that didn't work. French onion soup next was OK but 1 tiny toast on top with NO gruyere cheese. I chose bouillebaise for entree because I have not yet cooked it myself, but the broth was bland with very little saffron and no garlic; mussels and clams were too tiny to have any taste, fish pieces were minute and overcooked to tasteless mush and the shrimp were overcooked to toughness. I last attended Luna shortly after it first opened and remember how delicious its Italian food was but now I have to wonder if its regular Italian fare is still exceptional if it also is prix fixe fixe read more
