Although the pictures look good, the food is quite the opposite. I ordered the ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. All the meats lacked that smokey barbecue flavor, the rub/seasoning didn't penetrate the meat, and they were pretty dry. Quite a disappointing experience for me. read more

I placed an order today for BBQ and was told that they don't deliver to my neighborhood but they JUST delivered to my address 3 weeks earlier. No where on their menu does it state any restrictions on their deliveries. Their food is actually good but incident is a showstopper in my book. Had the burnt ends platter. Burnt ends were very good. I love Mac and cheese but unfortunately it was not good at all. It's not the typical Mac and cheese you would normally get at a bbq spot or southern style restaurant. It was more like boxed Mac topped with cheese. This is worst BBQ I ever had ! My husband and I got take out and when we got home the boxes leaked . The food was horrible. The beef brisket tasted like sliced beef with beef brisket gravy the Mac and cheese was horrible very bland. The mashed potatoes were ok but no salt and gravy was like water . Worst customer service in the entire universe. I placed a pick-up order about a month ago. After I left with my food, I discovered they messed it up. I called and asked if I could come back and exchange for the proper order. When I walked in, a young man came out from the kitchen aggressively accusing me of placing my order wrong. Huh? I was stunned! He wasn't even the one who took my order. He raised his voice, told me "next time don't waste my food." This was an order of like 6 freaking chicken wings! You would think he was raising his own free range, organic, vegetarian, non-GMO, gluten free, heritage chickens in the back or something... LOL! I couldn't be bothered to get all worked up. I asked for the manager or owner and he said "I'm the owner." Scared of what they were going to do to my new order, I asked for a refund and he snapped back "I do not give refunds." Sorry to say, but if this guy is really the owner, he's going to run his business into the ground with that type of customer service. Good luck. I selected 1 star because Yelp doesn't allow negative stars. My husband and I went here when we were jonesing for BBQ. We've been to numerous BBQ Competitions across the country and Lumpys Reviews seemed decent so we went. The service was sub par with everyone behind the counter having conversations with each other and not caring about customers. When ordering I was asked if I wanted hot or mild sauce. I asked which one was better and got a generic "both." I got each sauce on the brisket. 2 orders. When opening the take out containers which were cheap and leaky I was excited to try. Well if you like dry diner quality brisket go here. If you are looking for good BBQ - don't go here. We were so disappointed after eating a small portion we threw the food away. $35.00 in the trash. Recently ordered from here for lunch. Food was decent for Bbq done in Jersey!! Ribs were done well, pulled pork could've had more flavor and my son liked the brisket. The sweet and tangy wings were meaty, but a little spicier than I expected. Sides were nothing special. Thought the sweet potatoes were watery and reminiscent of baby food. Same with the BBQ beans. The cornbread was good. So why four stars??? Because the service was great!! From the girl who took my order over the phone to the food being delivered within 15 minutes of placing my order!!! But I would stay away from the beef ribs for two reason one they were very salty and second their was little meet on them, you pay $15.00 for 4 of them what a disappointment ! I moved to Laurel Springs last summer and I always drove by the place, but I was never sure what it actually was bc the sign only says BBQ so we decided to try it one night and OH MY GOODNESS....... Best wings I've ever had hands down. I always get the hot BBQ. They're delicious and the fries have the perfect seasoning on them. Great food, but they have THE worst staff dealing with their customers. I wish I could get in touch with the owner, because he's constantly losing money, and I doubt that he even knows it. Posting this review is an attempt to let him know. If you want an order for delivery, order at least two hours before closing, because once it gets anywhere near closing time, they always come up with a reason why they can't deliver the food. And I'm not talking about 10 minutes, sometimes it's 45min to an hour before closing and they still won't take it. Ventured here on a random Saturday. We ordered the ribs, burnt ends, wings and greens, mac & cheese and cornbread as sides. Everything was fresh and delicious! Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Burnt ends were perfection. Only reason for 4 stars is because the spicy bbq sauce is WAY better than the regular but my dining mates don't like spicy. Also, the sweet potatoes weren't the best. Horrible customer experience! Ordered 50 wings and discovered only given 43 (if 2 or 3 wings missing, I would take the loss, but not 7 wings - that's a serving). Instead of owning it, Lumpy's had the nerve to tell me they actually gave me MORE than the 50 I ordered! When I returned to pick up the wings I was shorted, I got nothing but ATTITUDE from the staff. They stood by their "gave you MORE than you ordered" story and essentially inferred that I was lying. Yeah Lumpy's, according to you I would drive across town burning my gas and time to retrieve "7" extra wings, even though as you claim, you gave me more than I ordered in the first place. What a joke! My recommendation is that you get employees who can count and train staff on the basics of customer service. By the way, I threw away the 7 wings (solely a matter of principal for me). Don't eat at Lunpys BBQ, yesterday Sunday July 21, 2019, I decided to go to this restaurant with my friend. I ordered hot wings with fries and a pulled chicken sandwich, well the young lady at the counter who happen to be white rang me up for someone else's order and gave me too much money back, so then she noticed that and stated that she gave me too much money so I returned to the counter with my wallet where I had $6.00 in my wallet and the young lady tried to say $ I was suppose to give her that money in addition to the $20.00 I had already given her for my order. I asked her how much was my order and she stated $13.85, from $20.00 equals $6.15 which is exactly what I stated to the young lady, I had her ring my order back up so finally everything was settled or do I thought ot was, now all the time this was going on there was another young lady at the counter watching the enter incident snd how the money was being handled. Durimg this time when I thought things were settled the young lady goes to the back and duscusses what happened at the counter then comes back and accuses me of taking the $20.00 dollars by asking did I give her the $20.00, I said yes and asked why wouldn't I have and how could I get $6.15 back in change if I didn't. At this time I'm getting upset and ask for my money back, so the young girl starts saying it was a simple mistake and I say and accusatiin is not a dinple mistake and that of they were in my shoes and had an accusation made against them then they would feel the same way snd I told , the young lady she couldn't count, then the manager gets onvolved and stayes the following "if she wants her money back well guve her the money back, all while the young lady says it's a simple mistake, so the owner of the BBQ restaurant who is white sends one of his black uoung men workers from the back to come to the front to say something because the uoung lady feeks got hurt due to me saying she couldn't count. The black guy from the back tried to make it a race issue wgen it wasn't it was an issue of right and wrong , the white young lady making an accusation and trying to rake more money from me than the order cost. Then I went outside due to me being upset because I know me, so my friends waired for their food and once received told the young lady she was wrong and that she accused me of stealing $20.00I gave her, and that she couldn't count. Well after that the young black man comes out side to smoke but says I raised my voice at the young , although I didn't I simply was upset by the accusation in was stated and tge tone of my voice changed but no yelking , this let me know as a black woman when I defend myself in a calm matter, that people are going yo think it's yelling when it's not or if I show I'm upset. Well the guy argued with my friends and made it a race issue words were said and we left. 8 believe this is not the first time the cheating or trying to cheat people of their money has happened, I stood up for myself. Vy the way the hit wings are horrible and the pull chicken sandwich was just chicken with barbecue sauce poured overed it, the baked beans looked like they were warmed ip poured out of a can, and the collared greens mu friends had were not seasoned or cooked good. Every time I come to Lumpy's they never fail to amaze me. I normally used to get their amazingly incredible beef ribs but it is no longer offered. Since then I've enjoyed various dishes from their menu. Yesterday I ordered their BBQ platter: Beef Brisket, Mac n Cheese, cornbread w/ extra homemade bar b q sauce and bbq beans. I would have given them a 5/5 but my brisket was a bit cold, however, the flavor made up for it. The texture was so good and the bar b q sauce (i always order extra) was amazing! I normally prefer my mac n cheese baked but they make theirs stove top. It was still good! Their cornbread was NOT dry and not dense. It was the perfect texture. I personally love bbq beans so this was an A in my book! I personally don't think this establishment knows how good their food is ! I finished this course in under 10 mins. Their bar b q sauce needs to be bottled and packaged. I would gladly drink this on a daily basis ‍ Although I put a 4/5, in my head its really a 4.7/5 just wish the brisket was hotter.
