I have been given the run around by this company to service panels that have stopped working for over the last 3 months. They scheduled and then rescheduled to send someine out for service and then no-showed while I took hours out of my day to get this resolved. They will make promises to and then never return calls, and now to no-show on a day they scheduled and then rescheduled again. Their installation is less than adequate with windy days resulting in cables banging around in your attic. You'll find pieces of the rack system in your yard for days after their installation...many are obviously clamps that have come loose. I do NOT recommend using this company. read more

Yesterday (1/25), they just got the electricity up and running. Their sales pitch sounded so promising - having a full service company dealing with the HOA, acquiring permits, and having all the trades to finish the project. That is NOT what we got. Not only did I have to probe the salesman for each stage to get moving, I obtained to proper permits. They lied to me about what was holding up the permits and I went to the city where they showed me the emails they exchanged with Lumio. In order the get going, I paid for the permits. After months of a lagging installation, we have a roof that leaks only where the solar panels were installed. Now they wonder why I am so certain that the panels caused it. Hmmm..... read more

Lumio sells and installs solar panels nationally and its headquarters resides in Utah. Sales people are in and around Tampa Bay, and they do solicit neighborhoods. I saw many reviews complaining about their sales efforts during the government tax rebate -a very competitive time for solar companies. This was the time we decided to install since Uncle Sam was helping out. We found better reviews outside of Yelp. Thought the service was professional, and since the county inspection went swimmingly, we were happy. As long as they hold up their end of the warranty, we'll stay happy. It takes a full summer to store up enough energy to reduce electric bills but once that happens you see huge savings. Plus, solar panels are better for the environment. read more

It is incredible, how this people came to my house in 2022, and gave me a speech, that with their program It will be a savings in electricity, they came with a sales person, offer me the best deal of my life . And then what I paid 500.00 monthy for the loan of my roof and panels and 380.00 of my Electricity Bill. They didn't care about the client, they only care about the money they made. Can negative 5 stars be an option? We signed our documents on February 21, 2023 and as of today (11/27/2023) we are still NOT up and running. Trying to get information from Lumio has been a nightmare and exhausting. Signed, then waited. After waiting for 4 months, we had to email and ask to hear there was problem with the roof. Was not told we had to ask! Install competed and 3 months later after several emails and calls was told the inspector would be sent before the panel upgrade!!! Then waited for the panel upgrade in September, then it was pushed back to October 20th. Now we are waiting for the county inspector again and STILL have not heard back. Why is this acceptable to you? I beg you to listen!!! DO NOT USE LUMIO!!!! If a meth head shows up at your front door offering solar I can guarantee you go with him, it will be a better experience the working with Lumio. read more

People don't ignore the signs lumio is really one of the worst company out there. I had lumio for 3 years, due to my house getting hit by the hurricane Ian, I called them to take the panels down, they charge me 7,500. I have a No Soliciting sign and I point to it. He says that he didn't see it but that he is not selling anything. He then launches into his pitch on SCE rate increases. I ask what he has to do with SCE. He says he wants to educate people on what they can do about their electricity bill. I ask what company he represents. He says Lumio. Water damage, poor customer service, employees known for lies but company refuses to do anything about it. Water damage When installing the panels they decided to change the location for one of my panels but had already drilled the holes. They did not patch the holes or repair the roof in any way . I have tried to get in contact with the damage department multiple time due to the excessive water damage that is in the roof of my house in 2 locations and on the exterior wall. Every time I call I'm told the damage department is unable to take phone call and will call you back. I have been calling for months with no luck As for the panels themselves I have not seen one bill so far that is fully paid by the energy the panels provide.it might cover 40 percent of my electricity. When I was told it would produce 15% more Solar/ Lumio has made me want to sell my home and restart. In the beginning everything went well and I was very excited to go solar now I am having regrets. The salesman promised that they would cover the first year of payment and that he would go over the install and how to set up everything when the panels came in. When I was considering going to solar to reduce my 500.00 electric bill (3bdr, 1 person) I was told that I would receive 26% of the cost back from the federal government in the form of a tax credit. This was done by the salesperson Jake from Lumio and by the company when they called to confirm my order. I just finished my taxes. Instead of an ~8,000 dollar tax credit, I got back $8. Yes, you read that right. When I called to talk to customer service, I was told they would look into it and then get back. After three weeks no one did. So, I called back and explained the situation again. They said, "That is a federal program, we don't control that." Fine, but they shouldn't imply or say that it will happen. No matter what I said or asked the Customer Service Superviso4 kept repeating the same phrases like the above and "It is in the contract that we are not tax advisors." Again, fine, but their people should explain that during the sales process. Even though I am happy, so far, with the performance of my array and the sharp reduction in energy costs. The company has displayed nothing but deceitfulness, poor workmanship and poor follow up/follow through. Because my tax situation may be different than yours, you may receive more of the tax benefits but make sure before you sign up that you will owe more than 30% of the cost of your solar panels on your taxes, if you want the full benefit. Otherwise don't let that be part of your decision making process. Also, make sure that you and a lawyer review the contact in detail because Lumio will hide their fraudulent practices behind the language and nuances of that contract. And a very good salesman. But they didnt deliver on any aspect of the project. Communication was horrible. On 7/23/22 we sighed our contract and on 10/28/22 panels installed. They failed inspection 3 times for the same correction because they did not follow the inspectors request. Put unnecessary holes in side of house. The sales rep was most accommodating to help correct problems. Manager contacted me once but no more. Left phone voice mail messages and talked with the customer service people. No response. I am so upset with this lack of customer service. The sales rep and company are great used car sales people like Matilda's father from the movie Matilda. Update 4/1/23 so starting late March they've started to buckle down with responding to their grave inadequacies. Apparently this is one of the largest biggest issues they've had, that the owners of Lumio had to get involved. They're now pending reroofing our entire house since their patches kept making things worse at this point and they've screwed up our roof beyond repair. Newer Moisture readings show water damage all the way down our front walls and flooring including tile, along with our insulation drywall studs etc it is an absolute nightmare. This is a huge huge issue and now our whole structure of the house is deeply compromised. Entire ceiling and entire lengths of the two walls. They've pulled in an "unbiased" third party to prove we were wrongly accusing them and that made them fall flat on their faces bc it was an inappropriate assignment based on our roof type, so someone majorly dropped the ball sneaking around our site survey with our roof. Not even including the awful installation that screwed up the roof. We will see what happens later. Their contractor is hoping to begin the re roof next week but there's so many moving parts like asbestos abatement and removing moldy insulation that they've got to do before all that happens. I'll update this review once all is said and done. I hope we get there. We've got some great people at Lumio really working to help fix this situation and they've been wonderful. Lumio execs (owners, looking at you) have yet to out anything in writing apologizing for their gross negligence on our property which is so disappointing. They refuse to pay to remove then reinstall our pool piping from the roof when it's their fault we had to remove it for a new roof in the first place, but I guess because they're giving us a new roof (as they should) we can't be picky about that part.... Thanks Lumio, now our tax refund will have to go towards that. I remain hopeful this will all get done but I've lost a great deal of trust in Lumio since they tried to escape accountability in January. I hope they don't continue to disappoint us. read more

After having the system installed for the past couple months and it being live for the past 16 days, .. I am updating my score to a 3. Lumio took some time to fix the lack of signage violation from my city.. but they ended up coming out to fix the issue. The only problem is, when the city sent another inspector, they saw that the signage was still incorrect!! He was a chill guy, so he ended up signing off anyways and my system has now been live for the past 16 days. Overall my experience with Lumio ended a bit sour, but now that the system is live I'm enjoying being a solar owner more. read more

Lumio is, by far, the worst company I've ever worked with. They consistently fail to provide adequate customer service and are slow to respond to any issue you might have, if at all. When we initially signed our contract, we were told by our sales rep that we would get a generator as a bonus. When we asked about it later, a different Lumio rep said they had 'no record of that promotion.' It took months to get the panels operational after they were installed and there was a period of time where we were paying for them before they were activated, which was a waste of money. But the real nightmare began when our roof was damaged by hail, which required us to replace the roof. Lumio told us that there was a three week mandatory waiting period to have a crew take the panels down, which delayed our roof work. And there was another mandatory waiting period before they were reinstalled. So we went weeks without our panels during the peak summer months when they were most useful. The day that the panels were reinstalled, we were hit by a heavy rain storm and the roof immediately started leaking, causing damage to the ceiling in our kitchen. I called the next day and asked for a crew to come inspect the damage, fix the problem, and to be compensated for the ceiling repair. Lumio sent me a claim form and said that a supervisor would call me in the morning. Next day - no call. So I called back, and was told my claim was denied because they'd determined they weren't liable for the damage, despite no crew ever coming to inspect my roof. They claimed the roofing company was liable, despite the fact that it had rained since the new roof was installed, and the leak only started after the solar panels were put back on. This was based solely on talking to the installation crew (who would be motivated to cover up their own bad work) and one picture I sent with my claim form that didn't show the damage in detail. In the meantime, I had two separate roofing companies come the day after the ceiling leaked and verify that the damage originated from installation flaws with the panels. I told Lumio that their answer was unacceptable and that I needed a Lumio crew to at least come and inspect the damage. Lumio told me that a supervisor would call me first thing this morning. This morning - no call. So here I am, with a hole in my roof, praying it doesn't rain, a ceiling I can't repair until the roof stops leaking, and a company that refuses to even come out and inspect the damage to determine liability. I can't stress enough how frustrating it is to work with Lumio. They are horrible at customer service and won't even work with with customers to fix their own mistakes. Avoid Lumio at ALL costs. If you have any other solar options in your area, use them. And if you don't, as much as I hate to say it, don't go solar. I'm now having to look into legal options to get Lumio to perform basic customer service. read more

Severe roof leak during very first rain, 3 months after Lumio installed our solar panels. No leak in 20 years previous. Of course Kadin, the slick talking salesman from 'Utah,' is nowhere to be found! He won't respond, even though he promised his support came with the purchase! Customer service at Lumio keeps giving us the runaround even though they added a 15 year warrantee to the roof. Incompetent people throughout their Bakersfield operation, so far. My daughter's drywall ceiling had rainwater dripping out of the fire alarm with water evidence across entire ceiling in her room. After 2 failed attempts at finding the leak, Lumio keeps saying they'll call us back to schedule repairs, but we never hear back! Getting legal advice now, as we speak. read more

Right out of the gate, this company had the best customer service in the business. In and out in days, and panels were put on ahead of schedule. Once the panels were on, we got radio silence from the company. No contact from anyone. 9 months later, I can unequivocally state that this company are frauds. 10/10 Do not recommend. Everything we were told in the first visit was a lie. We elected to do solar to save $50 a month on electricity, and after all is said and done my bill has tripled. Avoid this company. If I could give a 0 I would. I have left a review about lumio before. This time I just found out that I was lied to once again by this company. I was told that they do 1 free removal and set up just in case of weather issues or if you want to take the system with you if you move. First thing the lady on the phone said was "is it in your contract"? I had hail in Texas and had to call to have the system removed. I was told that it would cost 325 per panel to remove. I have 26 panels. I also need them put back on. That is going to be close to 17000 as I was told if I have someone else remove them it would void my warranty. It seems that they know the sales people lie as it never seems to be a surprise to them when I bring up something my sales guy promised and turns out to be a boldface lie. It took Lumio 11 months after the down payment to almost get my system installed. To "prove" they were working, they sent a crew out one day to replace the door on my home's circuit breaker box with a door from a different manufacturer that did NOT fit mine or line up with the breakers. I did not allow them to do that. The last thing was to fix the cell phone-type connection that enphase designed to monitor production. It showed that one panel in my 10 was vastly under-producing. It was the worst panel in it's array, every day, from the day that the monitor went on line till the day that Lumio turned off the system. BTW: and engineer at Enphase examined the every-15-minutes Enphase record and verified that the panel in question is not preforming up to specs. Lumio's Brett from "Customer Loyalty" claimed that the bad panel is good, and then told me to pay their bill and THEN he would look at the bad panel problem. Sure. And monkeys might fly out my....... Another problem is that Lumio has stalled the job so long (16 months, spanning three fiscal years) that I can no longer put in for the one third tax credit for this system. That bird has flown. I'm very disappointed with Lumio. First, they took 2 weeks to call me back about getting service. Second, the installation took 5 months to get a signed inspection to turn it on. Third, after a month of service, it rained really hard one day. We came back from vacation and found that our solar wasn't working. I called customer support, and they said it would be 45 days until a tech could come out to look at it. My wife called back and they were able to get someone out the next day. After the tech inspected the system, he said that the installation crew had left multiple exposed wires on the roof connections and caused the fuses to break. Thank GOD, our house could have burnt down. Needless to say, our experience has been nothing but headaches. However, the system works great now and hopefully will last a long time without any other issues. read more

Working with Lumio has been nothing but a nightmare from the beginning until now, over a year later with no resolution in sight. Wish I could give them 0 stars. I signed the agreement on 7/14/2022 for a 20-panel system and they only installed 17 panels. Since the start, they've assigned me 3 different project managers, all of which have been terrible in communication. I've called my latest project manager multiple times for an update on the 3 missing panels and to see when they will put the tiles back, nothing but crickets. I called customer service and told them my Project manager doesn't call me back, and they said they would put me in contact with my Project manager's Supervisor over a week ago and nobody has called or communicated. I'm so disgusted, I've given up on calling any of their numbers anymore. My roof has been in disarray for nearly a year with lots of tiles stacked and 3 missing solar panels. They refuse to take no for an answer.  We've got a big "No Soliciting" sign up, but they usually pretend they didn't see it even though they have to look right at it to find the door bell. One of them said that trying to sign us up for a service wasn't actually soliciting.  Another said he saw the sign but didn't care.  Makes you wonder what other stuff (like laws and safety specs) they choose to ignore when it's inconvenient.  It happens about every two weeks; sometimes more.  Sometimes the same person comes back and pretends he didn't see the sign again.  The funny part is - we're in the market for solar panels.  We might have considered them if they weren't acting so creepy. Based on their behavior, I wouldn't hire them even if it was free. read more

So one of the "warning" signs is the young folk going door to door using the same sales pitch as every other door to door seller "We're just in the neighborhood doing xyz for your neighbor across the road... (almost certainly a lie). Usually I just tell them I'm not interested, but I like the idea of solar, from an environmental as well as financial perspective, so I was willing to have them set up an appointment with the guy who was going to pitch the deal to me. Another warning sign was that they didn't provide any paperwork either about the company, or about my appointment (so I had no way to cancel if I wanted or needed to). Complete BS to say they don't provide this because they care about the environment. They could offer a QR code to scan, or send me an email if they wanted to share information, but they don't. When the sales guy comes round, he's nice and friendly, but he's a salesman. I know it's not easy for salesmen, but he had difficulty answering questions, or more specifically, I would ask a question, and he would provide an answer as if I'd asked a completely different question. I ask if there's a huge cost associated with setting up with solar, and I get told "no, you pay nothing out of pocket" - while this is technically correct in terms of not paying up front and getting a 20 or 25 year loan instead, paying $40k for installation, and over $60k once interest is factored in, is actually a significant cost. The single biggest warning flag is that the numbers he put into his computer to show the cost and benefit of solar were just scandalously and almost certainly deliberately wrong. The numbers significantly inflated my current and future electric costs (current costs were shown as almost double what they are despite me showing the guy my monthly and annual totals), and the loan repayments didn't account for any interest. Additionally, there's zero guarantee that the solar units would generate the amount of electricity estimated. This means the numbers are entirely useless (and just a sales gimmick), and you'd be forking out significant amounts of money and just hoping for the best. In some cases you might not end up in "net profit" before you die. But hey, these guys would still get tens of thousands of dollars, it's out of their hands how much electricity you actually generate once up and running (or indeed if you can get your govt. rebate) and with installation only taking a day, I'm guessing they are making insane mark ups on this gig. When the account that is set up to respond on Yelp to all the many many many negative reviews chose the rather revealing name "Reputation M" (meaning reputation management), it means they do not really care about all the negative customer experiences and likely are not following up like they say they will, but really are just trying to manage the terrible reputation this company has so that more people part ways with their money. But here's the thing. Good companies get good reviews, bad companies get a lot of bad reviews because they are bad companies. The Yelp score for this company is terrible, and almost certainly justified. read more

A guy from Lumio said our fuse/breaker wasn't working and that he'd be back the following week to replace it. He never came back. I've found 3 phone numbers for the company, and none of them work. I've emailed them as well to no avail. They weren't our original installer, but the guy who came to our house said that our original company had been bought by Lumio. We finally contacted our original installer, who is still in business and didn't know why someone from Lumio came to our house. Very scammy and suspicious. We are filing a police report against the guy who stole our fuse/breaker. read more

This is the second time I've gotten solar on a home. And wow it was night and day difference with Lumio. They were amazing. The install only took 12 days, as opposed to 3 MONTHS with the last company. They mentioned that they do the installs in house vs 3rd party which has made all the difference. Lumio is full of criminal practices designed to deceive you for their profit. They kept calling my home with three different managers, Each one agreed that we would negotiate a price but they refused to lower the price of a 12K system. They wanted 50-55K for a 12K system with no battery and no new fuse panel. I continually refused to agree to their very high prices. They continued to call my home saying that they need another internet signature to quality for the Southern Californian Edison 2.0 NEMS (metering) so that they can submit documents to Edison early before time runs out on the NEMS 2.0. A new manager called and asked me to sign the NEMS again because the previous manager Chris had been fired and the new manager does not have any info, So I agreed to sign again for the NEMS 2.0 a 2nd time. Today I received a call from Lumio Manager named Don who told me that they are sending my account to COLLECTIONS for not paying for the system Lumio is now attempting to collect money from me on a system that I never agreed to nor signed any agreement to install. No installation has started and I am letting everyone know about the criminal practices of Lumio, I am an Electrical Engineer, and I would NEVER sign any agreement to have a system installed on my home that does not meet my cost, schedule, and quality requirements. The previous Lumio manager "Chris - who was fired at Lumio) had already explained that per the law, that no Solar panel Company can collect any payments unless a physical installation has begun at the customers home.. It is possible that Lumio is sneaking an agreement within their directive to customers to sign a second NEMS 2.0....possible hiding a imbedded installation contract. If this is what is happening, I warn you - Do NOT do business with Lumio They put me through 3 different high pressure sales managers and now this internet signing deception is the last straw. I wish I could give them a negative score because they dont even deserve the one star. Its been over 2yrs and they finally got the sign off from the city. Starting with their salesman Eric Schrader to the dozen or so account managers that would never return a call or give a update. My panels were installed over a year ago and just sat because this company couldnt get there act together. I had to call and call to try and get any type of information. Lumio has a responsive team from sales people all the way to service management. The install was amazingly fast. However, there were a couple of issues that took longer to resolve. It took a couple of months to finally correct my breaker box issue I was having, but Cody the electrician got it sorted. He said this was a recurring problem with some owners of this breaker box model and that he had determined a Pigtail solution. Cody is efficient, has super follow through, and has been a valuable asset to Lumio's electrical service. read more

Lumio defrauded me with false information about costs. With almost no decrease in my local utility costs, they want me to pay a ton for the solar panels. They lied about everything. I'll go to my grave before I pay one more payment. And I spent months trying to contact them and they never replied. read more

This has been the biggest circle jerk. The salesman did a fabulous spin on how terrific this company was and how they want everything down properly. Now 4 months after the panels were installed, our solar is still not working. Yes, they refund you your payments, but not in cash in gift cards or prepaid credit cards. They don't even let you know when you fail the county inspection, and this is the second time. I think it's time to cancel this crap since I am on a limited income and wanted to save money. Hah. If I could give negative 10, I TOTALLY would! These people SUCK! They are not responsive and have dragged our solar install out for 8 months. We have had panels on our roof for 4 months and we can't use them because they messed up the plans for the city and now they're hiding. No one will answer our calls, there is no mangers to speak to and forget about the customer service line. They are the least helpful. We even went to the headquarters in Lacey and no one could even help there. They are trying to screw us out of a bunch of money. Sean and Bobby should be fired! They're ignoring us completely, won't answer our questions and Bobby is Sean's boss!! The lack of professionalism and basic competence for this so called "company" is atrocious!
