I permitted Sun Run to install solar panels on my house. I agreed to the installation because I was told that I would reap savings on my utility bill. I have not reap any savings. My utility bill has in fact increased. I have contacted the company by phone on several occasions and have not received a satisfactory response. Finally, I wrote a letter to the CEO, Mary Powell. As of today, which is two weeks later, I have not received any kind of response. If you are considering solar panels and you have a problem, don't count on this company to resolve the issue. I may not have any choice, but to request Sun Run to remove the solar panels from my home. I hope they will be responsive to this review. read more

DON'T DO IT. When we entered into contract with Sunrun we were told that if our panels sustained damage by golf balls from the adjacent house that they would be replaced. I have to panels with holes on my house and are a serious fire hazzard as they are now filled with water and Sunrun will not replace them. If my house burns down, I will SUE them for sure. read more

Our solar has not worked to begin with. The installation was complete in July 2024. After a couple of months noticing our PG&E bill did not go down, we checked the app thoroughly. It showed the batteries were not working. I called SunRun to report this to them, and they scheduled a technician to come out. The day before the appointment we received an email stating our appointment was canceled. I called to reschedule and questioned the billing since at this point we were paying our monthly fee for about 4 months. The Customer Service Representative stated that after the whole ordeal was resolved they would credit our account for the months we paid. Finally a technician came out to check the system and both batteries were not working from the manufacturer, so he put in a request to have new ones ordered and installed. A few days later there was rain in my area and guess who had a leaky roof right under solar panels?!? We called yet again and were lucky this time, they came out to repair the leaky roof. The battery issue had still not been resolved. We called and scheduled another appointment and they fixed ONE of the broken batteries, and the tech said he needed to wait for the other battery to come back in. Meantime, I see my bill and now we have a credit, and we thought that the credit was due to us paying and the system not working. So we were somewhat satisfied- since now we wouldnt have to pay and the solar equipment wasnt fully functioning. We ha a new appointment for the 2nd new battery to be installed and again- the appointment was canceled- this time without a notification to us. I called them again and the representative said that the issue had been resolved so that was why they canceled the appointment. We let a few days go by and called again, since we can clearly see the battery is not working properly. We schedule another appointment for someone to check it out and the same tech that had come out was here to install the second battery. When we checked the billing it now shows the credit was reversed and we owe several months of service (which we never had)! We have called and asked about it and we get told the manager will call us back, and we never receive a call back. This is so frustrating! read more

Then I got a bunch of unprofessional emails calls and ultimately they finally called me at home several days later only to rudely argue about their supposed earlier calls which were not made at the time they agreed to. Nicholas Johnson was very unprofessional a terrible liar and had bad customer service skills. He attempted to get me to divulge my p g and e username and password so that he could access my account. Hello Yelp, please understand that these egregious issues are very real and are indeed occurring 1800 W Ashton Blvd, Lehi, UT. Please look at the attached photos. Vivint hides issues such as these and has legitimate and egregious complaints deleted from Yelp by reporting they did not occur in Utah while these corporate/company policy issues are clearly taking place here and the public is done a disservice by removing them. These billing and contractual issues are common to and may occur or be experienced in any Vivint location. When one searches for Vivint Solar located at 1800 W Ashton Blvd, Lehi, Utah (from my contract, invoices, and numerous emails and calls) where their headquarters resides, this location come up. These issues are not the fault of the local Concord, CA installer- my contract, lien, and billing interactions are corporate and occur at 1800 W Ashton Blvd, Lehi, Utah. Most of the deleted original complaint follows: While working through the issues where Vivint prevented us from refinancing our home due to them filing multiple liens against our title, we discovered the solar system was actually inoperative since May 2020. This was while Vivint was trying to determine a fair market buyout price as a "goodwill" gesture, but in order to do that the solar system obviously has to be functioning as we had observed a 20% reduction in power production over a 5 year period. We brought this fact to their attention. However, after realizing the solar system was dead, we discovered when the solar system goes down, Vivint continues to makes unauthorized and fraudulent charges against your credit card. They claim these are "estimated" charges, but this is not true as in months with partial power production, Vivint chooses to bill at the much higher "estimated" full month production. I've gone over the contract with a fine tooth comb and nowhere is billing for "estimated" power production provided for in the contract. Vivint requires you to sign up for auto-pay with a credit card. Furthermore, in the months where the solar system is down, we must buy the power from PG&E (our utility) at a much higher rate than the Vivint contract rate. You won't notice this until your year end "true-up" billing. At this point we had paid PG&E for power delivered from mid-May 2020 to January 2020 something like $2000 and Vivint fraudulently auto-charged our credit card over $800 for the same period during which they had produced no electricity. I know this sounds crazy but I am attaching photos of our power delivered and amounts billed by Vivint. You can clearly see in May production ceased mid -month. Normally you will see upright bars running all the way from left to right. In June, you can see the zero power production and corresponding zero $ charges from Vivint as is appropriate. However, beginning in July you can clearly see that even though there is little or no power production, after noticing a zero income month for them, Vivint hides the system failure by inexplicably falsifying power production on our billing statements and fraudulently charging our credit card for non-existent electricity delivery. It is really quite a scam. We contacted Vivint numerous times by phone and in writing demanding that they cease making these unauthorized and fraudulent charges against our credit card. Vivint ignored every request and demand. We were tempted to cancel our credit card, however reading online reviews on other sites we heard about others cancelling their credit cards to stop the fraudulent charges, and even worse Vivint continued the inappropriate billings for non-existent electricity production and also started reporting the unpaid fraudulent amounts as past due debt! It is all unbelievable, yet true. So putting aside the multiple liens that prevented us from refinancing our home, the attempts to extort us into signing a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and "no-claims" settlement falsely portrayed as a "contract amendment" by refusing to lift the liens, and the fraudulent and unauthorized charges made against our credit card- now we had to go through the excruciating system repair process. Needless to say this was another complete nightmare. Vivint scheduled and no-showed for 3 appointments scheduled from someone located in Lehi, UT. Since the "Ethernet bridge" component suspected of being bad was located inside our home, I had to be present. This meant I took 3 days off work needlessly and Vivint never called or otherwise advised of the no-shows. After I started posting online we did get some actual technician visits, but it took another 3 visits to finally get the system operational (knock on wood). The technician that finally was able to repair the system had to come all the way from San Jose. These guys were great and finally got it right, but the system had been totally inoperative for over 7 months while Vivint continued to charge our credit card as if the system was completely functional! read more

Shortly after getting solar panels installed, they stopped working. It has now been 6 months, and we keep getting told that they will send someone out, but then give us an excuse and reschedule us. Over and over again. Still no progress on getting my panels fixed. So far my experience with Vivant Solar is that I am paying for solar panels that don't work and am still paying my power bill. On top of that I'm dealing with a customer service team that is unable to help at all. Always saying there is nothing they can do. I would suggest avoiding Vivant Solar! Horrific company. As with the other people that have written reviews - this company has grown beyond it's capacity and can not service it's current or new customers. You have to wait for over an hour on any customer service call. We are currently waiting for our solar panels to get reinstalled after we had them removed for a new roof. We have been waiting for over 6 weeks. It took 3 months to have the panels removed. No on calls you back when they promise to do so. The only thing they do consistently is charge your credit card to get their payment. Also their phone system is unreliable and their servers will restart and any calls on hold will get disconnected. If you have another provider for your solar panels please consider them before you are locked into a contract that Vivint can not support. read more

Mr. Larson puts two and two together and figures out that even though my math is bad, I know for a fact that he and Andrea have no idea what 60 days is. I could buy them each a calendar but like what's the point? As I explained to Mr. Larson, I don't like being lied to. I'm then transferred to a super nice lady by the name of Ms. Gibson. She thought I had a problem with the loan payments which I really didn't and still don't. Anyway, she offers to cough up a check for a year's worth of payments. That's really nice. Not solving the issue but it's nice. Maybe it was a distraction. Maybe it was mean to be a diversion? Anyway, it was a nice gesture for all the hell I've been through with this company. By the way, I have to pay taxes on that $1400, I think it was. Heavy sigh, anyway, she quits as in goes to work for somebody else and I'm handed over to Mr. Blanchard who has the balls to ask me what my problem is. Look, kids... Vivint records every conversation, keeps every email. I'm not in the mood anymore to repeat myself so I refer him to Yelp. After his apparent perusal, he suggests an extra panel at Vivint's expense. Again, nice gesture but privately, I really don't need that and I know there's no room on my roof so I agree. The problem (how many problems can this company have?) is that he reneges on that. Something about a 'structural hazard', so why did he offer it? Just add that to the list of questions that Vivint will never answer. After almost five months, Mr. Larson, Mr. Blanchard, et. al. come to the conclusion that I saved money in 2018 with my Duke energy bills. I'll break it down for you: Between January of 2018 and June 13, 2018, I spent $792.31 on Duke energy. Between June 13, 2018 (after the turning on of the solar panels) and the end of December of 2018, I spent $1,439.81. I have it in writing that I'm to save 85%. Mr. Larson said that it was 86% but I'm not picky. Dear Reader, do you see where I saved money in 2018? I request another looksee. In the meantime, Mr. Blanchard tells me he wants to 'prioritize' so he offers to send a guy out. Doesn't matter to him that I've been waiting a year for this. Doesn't matter to Mr. Blanchard that 60 days has come and gone multiple times. I'm amused that he is prioritizing my issues with Vivint, so I agree. On May 20, A rep from Vivint shows up with no form of ID other than a driver's license in a black truck to check out the system at 2:44 PM. The guy isn't even wearing a hat or a shirt with the name 'Vivint' on it!!! No sign on the truck either. Is he ashamed? Is he embarrassed? He said, 'everybody knows me' as an explanation as to why he doesn't have any form of said ID from Vivint. I inform him that the gate is unlocked. At 2:49 PM, he knocks on the door and says all is well. This guy didn't even bother to take out a ladder. I waited a year for THIS? The funny thing is .. I'm not even surprised. We are, after all, talking about Vivint. This maintenance guy didn't appear to be impressed that I had already had two solar companies out last year and I knew precisely what the problems were and I took steps to correct said problems for the panels to work. WARNING WARNING WARNING......this company is a scam. They do not do what they agree to do in the lease and then refuse to terminate the lease and remove the panels. I am selling my house and this solar company has cost me one sale already. I have had the system for 3 years and the same part breaks all the time. They never contact me, I am always the one to contact them telling them the system isn't working again. To date, my system hasn't worked since July!! I have called so many times and have been given at least 20 different case numbers, but no one ever calls back. There are currently several law suits against them for their fraudulent practices. I explained to her that this did not seem right and tried to talk her out of signing up, she insisted that it was a special free program for senior citizens. Now she has a large lean on her house and doesn't understand why her utilities have not dropped in cost. THE ONLY FREE PORTION WAS FREE INSTALLATION. Illegal, fraudulent, dishonest, corner-cutting electrical contractors, fire Hazzard, unethical business practices. Are just some of the words to describe Vivint solar. I have been lied to and given a runaround numerous times by their customer service Department. when their solar equipment failed i requested that Vivint send out a technicia to look at their system. the Maine Power breaker on the house started tripping, cutting off the power to our house. Twice an IT specialist was sent (who admitted he did not know why) as this is an electrical problem. After contacting Vivint, I was told by there customer service agent. I would have to call an electrician at my own expense to diagnose the problems with the system. This seemed odd, as I do not own the Vivint solar system. Why would I be responsible for it's service and maintenance. Should the electrician find a problem with the solar system. i could submit the bill to Vivint; should it met their qualifications they would refund cost of electrician. Just to clarify i am an electrical engineer. so i investigated the wiring they did on my house. I noticed that the input side of the main disconnect breaker was smoking. again contacted Vivint customer service and informed them that their poor quality workmanship , corner-cutting electrical contractors, had created a unsafe potential fire Hazzard on my house. that one of the lugs on the input breaker to my house what is discolored from overheating and the insulation on the wire was charged. At this point Vivint sent out an electrician, Who then needed to completely rebuild the electrical interface from the solar panels all the way to where it interconnected to my house. necessitating the replacement of the main power panel on my house including an 8-foot ground rod. The original equipment install by the previous Vivint contractor. Was complete violation of national electrical and Fire Protection code. Even before the rebuild work was completed. I had receiving and extremely high true up energy bills. from PG&E; approximately $1,000. (true up billing, also known as netbilling, is used by solar and other power companies to estimate your energy usage when they are not able to meter it. the amount is derived from past usage with a formula only they understand.). the net billing had been going on on since before their shotty install started smoking (3+ months ) When I asked Vivint why they had not monitored their equipment to (the salesman told me it is monitored 24/7) see that it was not working. The answer I received was shocking to say the least. According to Vivian's customer service. "THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING THE EQUIPMENT." to make sure it is operational. yet there are NO INDICINDICATORS, METERS, or STATUS DISPLAYS. Installed in your home; as you woulds expect on a system that MUST BE MONITORED BY THE USER. The only method is a web account you can log on to, that gives you a relative guess of your energy usage. NO actual data on the status of the system (solar panels inverters, PG&E KW-hours used Vs power generated). after a 2 hour call with Vivint solar's customer service a manager. promised an $810 refund check would be mailed to me in the next two weeks. to defer the excessive amount i was charged for true-up billing, as of now I am currently owed over $1,000. by Vivint solar. Yet another call to Vivint's customer service I remind them of the check that was supposed to have been sent two weeks ago. was told I would need to wait yet another billing cycle. It is my opinion that Vivint solar uses carefully phrased lies and deceptive business practices. to capitalize on federal/state incentives and tax rebates for solar installation. The common terms associated with this would be, con-artist, and fraud. However by wrapping themselves in the look of an eco-friendly company, they have created the illusion that they are a customer orientated, green energy provider. This is far from the truth. Been trying to have my panels temporary removed since March of 2020 its been almost 6 months and my panels are starting to collapse my roof. This has been brought to each and every customers service agent and supposed to be some sort of Manageme nt to help but no call or no help this is absolutely crazy. So I finally got a refund and tried to set up another appointment again and its been 3 weeks with having to pay in advance each time. Vivint solar is fine upfront, but once they get their funds lookout! They cut their cost by installing a small inverter, 3800 watt max ac output. My panals product 5200 watts. I loose 1400 watts per hour on sunny days between 10 am and 4 pm. I have called numerous times and all they say is the system is working as design. I say it is design wrong, please replace my solaredge inverter with the 6000 max ac output. They say contact Solaredge and pay them to do it. Solaredge is the manufacturer and do not install their product. I have called my sales rep. but he will not anser his phone and will not return my call. I applied 6 times to jobs that I was well or well Over-Qualified for and never received more than a cursory 20 minute "interview" and was immediately shown the door. Expect to be "Interviewed" by a 20-something and treated rudely thereafter. Not One of their horrifically unprofessional and rude "Interviewers" will answer or return calls from anyone who has interviewed and has a question or wishes a clarification or follow up. Wish I could no stars. In the spring of 2018, we were visited by a sales rep. New build neighborhood, so they were all over us. Spent 3 hours with a kid, was extremely confused, kept asking questions, thought we understood. Called the rep back three days later and canceled. He didn't take that for an answer and visited that night. He talked a really good game, and we kept the agreement. Panels went up, and have been working great. I have 4 months of bills that average $120. All other months are $10-$13. My solar bill averages $110 monthly. This week in 2020, had 3 calls, and 2 emails. Talking about an "annual review". Total BS! They pulled my credit WITHOUT my permission!!! Their solution was more panels!! I've been a customer for 2 years, in great standing and they pull my credit to " help" with the bills. Warning!!! Many months ago we spoke with a sales rep about solar products. We had someone check the roof. It needed repairs we couldn't afford so we cancelled our account. On 8/20 I was notified that Vivint Solar did a hard credit inquiry on me that lowered my score. I have called twice now to get this handled and keep getting the run around. Don't give them any of your information unless you are serious about going with them. I did NOT authorize this inquiry and I will make sure that one way or another this will get removed from my credit report. It's now been 8 weeks (install was June 3) and they still have no estimate or end in site for when we can turn on our power. Do not use Vivint Solar. While they do a great job on sales, customer service in terrible. You can never talk to someone who actually has the ability to make a decision and do something. On 5/1/17 I had my roof replaced and I still do not have my solar panels reinstalled. I have had my re-installation cancelled twice due to " not enough resources in the area". At this point I am waiting for a call from Vivint to discuss the next available date for installation. I agree with Brian H., who posted a review about this company on 5/22/17. I think it is time to get legal counsel. It seems that they are always looking into the situation, but never doing anything to solve the problem. I took over a solar lease in Gilroy, CA 1 year and 5 months ago. I began calling them and asking them to reduce the number of panels on my house approximately six months after I moved as there were panel enough on the house for at least 4 people and I am one person. My bill is outrageous every month. They eventually told me I have to send in 12 months of electric bills before they will look which I did 5 months ago. I finally called them today and they still have not attempted to solve the problem. I would not recommend this company to anyone. All reviews lieber d 2 reviews just now I will never do business with this company! The "survey" was scheduled and the technician came to my house on time. He requested to see the electricity panel. I thought it's not a big deal and he just wanted to see. And then he said he will open it to see the back to make sure the wiring is done right. The problem is, the panel is sealed with caulk, and if he took off the panel and then put it back without proper caulking there will be chink around the panel. The technician said he did not have caulk to reseal the panel edge. So I told him in this case please do not take the panel off. Next thing he wanted to do is to measure the attic. I show him the opening to the attic but told him I do not want him to go up there. The technician then asked me if he can go up to the roof outside to measure the size. I said sure but be careful it is raining outside. The technician went outside, sat in the car for a while and then left. Within 5 minutes I receive the sales rep's call from UT and said the technician told him I was hard to work with. I told him I do not like the "survey" that will take things apart even before I decided to do anything. The sales rep said that is the standard procedure for every solar company before they submit any paperwork to the government. I told him I didn't even ask them to submit anything and will let anyone do anything to my house unless I decided to go ahead with the company. He said he just wanted to let me know that the company decided not to do business with me. That's interesting. Since he said that, I also wanted to make my point. I told him I read the reviews and really don't trust the company with the reviews like those. He said they are the biggest company and I should see the rating in BBB. I told him I know and I have already checked, and they should focus on taking care of the existing customers to reduce the negative reviews. The sales rep said "we are the largest company and has been in the business for # years (I don't remember the number and really don't care), and don't need me to teach them how to do business". I told him I was still in the office and didn't have any more time to discuss this with him. He hung up on me before I finished the sentence. Warning**and very concerned. Apparently this company installed Solar next door and the rep came to my house to talk about Solar/solar programs. He spoke with me and my partner. He asked if he could see a current energy bill so he could tell us where our spend is and where solar could save us down the road. Unfortunately my partner showed him the bill that happens to be in my name. After the conversation he asked if he could come back the following week to talk more because he had another appointment as did we. He did not have business cards on him so he emailed my partner the appointment reminder. After which we decided to cancel because we are not interested at this time and didn't want to waste his time. SOON after, i was notified by my credit reports that I had HARD HITS. Confused, I checked and it was Vivint Solar!!! I phoned them, confirmed it was that rep. HE HAD CREATED A FRUAD PROFILE, ACCOUNT, EMAIL ADDRESS, signed it with my initials, initials I do not use, not even a signature and pulled the rest of the info IE: 3yr old phone number off the internet and somehow ran my credit.... what the hell???? Vivint rep sent me a screenshot of the credit authorization form. There were so many red flags it is disgusting. They do not have a QC process to validate credit sources /applications and apparently the field reps can generate credit reports on their own. Are you kidding me??? They still havent answered whether or not he has my social security number! I am looking in to legal counsel and perhaps filing charges against this company and this rep directly. read more

9 Months and we still have roof damage caused by the install crew. Another appointment made to check my roof damage and the inspector was a no show. This is the 3rd time and they asked to have a contractor of my choice present. The contractor showed promptly at 8 am but no Vivint Solar rep. They called 11:39 am and told me that they had no idea what happened and they could be at my house in a hour or so. REALLY! 3 no shows and more excuses from Vivint Solar. They refuse to turn the damage over to their insurance to make my roof right. Why have insurance if you never plan to use it. I gave it one star and even that is better than they deserve. Avoid this company. They do not believe in customer service and are one of the worst companies I have worked with. My recommendation, go to another solar company and avoid this one. All you will get while they are selling you is promises and then once they have your signature, all you get are delays. It has been since September since the panels were installed. The city inspector just came for the third time. The new Vivint agent who started on the right foot, has lost his credibility. He promised almost 2.5 weeks ago that National Grid would be there soon. When I asked him, he got very defensive and said I thought we were buds. I replied to that I was the customer not his friend. The target date went from soon, to two weeks to three weeks in almost one exchange. My rating of the operation has not changed read more

I had solar panels installed by this company - and within a year and a half they leaked horribly! What this company did was an absolute crime...... my roof was 19 years old - and they NEVER should have put up solar panels on a 19 year old roof........ and SECOND - part of my roof is at a very low pitch - and this is where they leaked - not one panel - ALL of the panels!!! The water damage in my house was horrible! I will give the company this - they stepped up and paid me $5,000....... BUT - I ended up replacing my whole roof - for $12,000 - and years earlier too. Thats another thing they don't tell you of course - solar panels will reduce the life of your roof too! Absolutely DO NOT GO WITH THEM !!!!! read more

Was given incorrect info about Solar Contract. Salesman lied about when it could be removed & when it can't, also was told other warranty things that are simply not true. Stay away it is not the deal you think it is. The signature on the contract is not even mine. Now I have these panels on my roof producing nothing for me & hassling with them in court. read more

The Sales Representative here in Woodcrest (Riverside), David M., lied about every single solitary key point having to do with solar. Nothing that he said was true. His definition of what key 'words' and 'phrases' meant were absolute, 100% lies. Now, after the fact, it's very easy to find out the truth about Vivint Solar and how it operates by use of misleading, deceitful, and lying tactics. Those of us in California are just the latest, in the wave that Vivint has been riding, to be scammed. I do NOT want anybody to go through what we and three neighbors are experiencing, period. For us, VIVINT is a terrible, life-affecting experience!!!!! I'm hoping that the New Mexico State Attorney General, Hector Balderas, does not back down from the lawsuit against Vivint Solar at all! I'm not speaking in favor of ANY solar company. Vivint is not the only company scamming people. There are many. Solar is NOT for everybody, very few at this point in time will truly benefit.
