I had solar panels installed by this company - and within a year and a half they leaked horribly! What this company did was an absolute crime...... my roof was 19 years old - and they NEVER should have put up solar panels on a 19 year old roof........ and SECOND - part of my roof is at a very low pitch - and this is where they leaked - not one panel - ALL of the panels!!! The water damage in my house was horrible! I will give the company this - they stepped up and paid me $5,000....... BUT - I ended up replacing my whole roof - for $12,000 - and years earlier too. The Sales Representative here in Woodcrest (Riverside), David M., lied about every single solitary key point having to do with solar. Nothing that he said was true. His definition of what key 'words' and 'phrases' meant were absolute, 100% lies. Now, after the fact, it's very easy to find out the truth about Vivint Solar and how it operates by use of misleading, deceitful, and lying tactics. Those of us in California are just the latest, in the wave that Vivint has been riding, to be scammed. I do NOT want anybody to go through what we and three neighbors are experiencing, period. For us, VIVINT is a terrible, life-affecting experience!!!!! I'm hoping that the New Mexico State Attorney General, Hector Balderas, does not back down from the lawsuit against Vivint Solar at all! I'm not speaking in favor of ANY solar company. Vivint is not the only company scamming people. There are many. Solar is NOT for everybody, very few at this point in time will truly benefit. Horrible Horrible service. DO NOT GO WITH THEM. I regret getting a solar system from them. I wish I can get my money back and get the whole system taking off and go with somebody else. They are supposedly monitoring the production, but I'm the who has to monitor and call all the time for production not being recorded. And the insulation was a joke along with the engineer team. I sent e-mails and phone calls to make everything right before I write reviews, but they didn't, so here it is. Here is part of the e-mail I sent to them. " I thought since Vivint is a national company, the standard would be high. As I mentioned, the people didn't show up at the scheduled time., changing at the last minute, coming unannounced the next day, leaving a mess behind, leaving the garage door wide open. Even after complaining, you simply just mentioned that the person was not at the Vivint's standard and was terminated. But we still had a mess to deal with, and we didn't have anybody come by to clean the mess. The electrical issues as well. We upgraded the system accordingly, but there were so many back and forth on whether it was enough or not. I had to get my electrician involved. He had to use his own personal time to research, reach out to people to confirm his thinking was correct. and Vivint coming back at the end to say it was all ok to start with." They questioned my electrician's work. his integrity and his profession, giving us headaches and worries. All this happened while I lived in abroad. I don't wish anybody to go through the headaches that I had to go through especially when you are trying to do good by going solar. FANTASTIC choice for residential solar. Their bid was very competitive (way cheaper than Auric who tries to upsell you higher-end commercial quality equipment you don't really need for residential), and their business model is solid, so you know they're going to be around in 20 years when all the wannabe startups (relying solely on their sales force and/or subsidies) fade away. Zach (our sales rep) was professional, genuine, and was available 24/7 to answer any and all questions we had. They came in ahead of schedule, did GREAT work, and made the process incredibly painless. Best of all, you know Vivint is going to be a great choice long term, as their focus is on smart home integration, not just solar, so when that day finally comes that we can be completely off the grid and rely on 100% renewable energy for everything, you bet Vivint is going to be the leader of the pack. read more

Been trying to get my panels removed for 2 months because roof is leaking. Panels are still not removed and this is nothing but a hassle and more weather damage to my roof. Also salesman gave me misleading information on my savings and also stated there would not be any more electric company fees which is not true. Salesman also stated $499 to remove and reinstall panels and the solar company tried to charge me almost $3000 to do this. Looks like I may have to retain an attorney to get this resolved and get out of this. It has done nothing for saving me anything on my electric bill and also have a bill from vivint. read more

Vivint solar,still waiting for them to complete the mess they did on our roof,we are due a credit for 4 months,but nobody at the company will get back to us with a number,what a surprise,if you are thinking about getting solar just remember if you see a 4 or 5 star review for vivint that just means that its early,i could have wrote those reviews,its not until something goes wrong that they fall apart,and if you think that you have your system for 20yrs without a problem ,think again.i'm not sure why the board of a publicly traded company lets the CEO(Bywater)get away with such poor customer service,its just not right,so word of advice from one who did it,don't do it.at least do alot of home work first,don't sign with their great sales staff ,i have to give them that?good luck! read more

Sadly, If I could choose to give them NO STARS on this review, that would have been my option! The salesman lied to us about the cost (said it was being paid for by our power company in a promotional to get a percentage of their customers green by the end of the year). I did not learn of this until after the install was complete and the first contract was signed (Thank God I had several witnesses present, all of whom are ready to testify if this goes to court). Prior to having the panels installed, I had our usual contractor come out and carefully inspect our roof to endure it would be able to handle solar panels without being damaged in any way, and the roof was solid. This should NEVER have happened!!!!! They then installed the panels and destroyed my roof in the process, damaged the siding on the house, damaged my yard, and never even properly finished the job. The panel mounts were screwed directly into my roof, but were never sealed as they were supposed to be, so every time it rains, snows etc. we have leakage into the house. Then I started receiving bills, continuous harassing phone calls to pay them, and no satisfaction when I tried to let the NJ branch know my panels weren't even in operation.The panels were put on in July of 2016, and they have to date (it is now 03/02/2018) NEVER BEEN TURNED ON! Because of the improper install that resulted in leakage, part of my roof has collapsed, and my living room walls, and certain parts of our ceilings throughout that side of the house are leaking and or collapsing. We were repeatedly told by the NJ branch people that there was no one higher we could talk to and that I needed to just pay their bill first, even though we've NEVER received any of the services promised, because again... OUR PANELS WERE NEVER TURNED ON! THEY STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL LOCK ON THEM!!! I refuse to pay for a service we were lied to about to get in the first place, then never got anything from other than the damage we now have to our house! I had to dig online and carefully research their company to find what the NJ branch would not even tell me about.. their corporate offices in UTAH! Then I found out that all this time, NJ branch has been lying to me. They never even told me they had the damages department in Utah! I had to find that out on my own after discovering that the NJ branch had lied about not having anyone else over them that I could talk to. We've already contacted an attorney to start a lawsuit, but I am giving Vivant one more opportunity. We want the panels off our roof, the charges for a service we never got wiped away, any damage they tried to do to our credit because of not paying for a service we did not get wiped off our record, and we want the damage to our house that correlates to the leakage repaired, inside and out! If they come through, I'll let everyone here know! If not, we'll be taking this into a full lawsuit against them, and are making sure it will be a very public one! I will be using every single one of my media contacts to be sure this gets into mainstream news! We've been documenting everything through witnesses, carefully documented journal about every contact we've had with them since the beginning and the contents of every conversation, photos of ALL the damage, contractor inspections as to the mounting damage, etc. As of right now, my advice is: DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY! read more

I signed up with Vivint Solar in September 2015 with high hopes. The system was installed in December 2015. It was turned on in May 2016. It did not work but I still had to pay the bill. I reported the problem on May 9th 2016 but Vivint Solar showed no real interest in addressing the issue, despite repeated civil requests and reminders, until I sent them a legal notice of dispute via certified mail and demanded the panels be removed. It is August 1st 2016 and I have been assured that they will be turned on tomorrow. I've heard that same thing every couple of weeks for months. We shall see. Because of their Lease Agreement, I am forced to retain an adversarial relationship with this poorly managed company for 20 years. That is a life sentence. If you are one of the unfortunate soles that was duped into this scam, I'm sorry. Be sure to read the contract and send a "notice of dispute" with each and every complaint and hire an attorney. We have been using Vivint Solar for a year now. The solar is great and has really helped with out SCE bill. However, their business practice and relationship with their customers is frustrating. They took money out of my bank account for charges before the solar was even turned on. They said it was suppose to have been turned on and should have generated that amount of electricity. Of course it hadn't been turned on and no electricity had been generated. They did credit my account. Since they showed that they could access my account when nothing was owed I went to a bill pay system and blocked them from my account. For the last year, they would email a bill on the 3rd. It just shows a number of units generated and amount owed. It doesn't show how the amount generated was created. I would call and their billing department would send daily production chart and I would pay bill through bill pay. It was a hassle but the people were nice. Then in Jan this year they tried to take payment out of my bank account before a bill was even sent. Of course the bank refused to pay. It must have been the 8th of Jan and after many phone calls that I finally received a bill. They said they had been upgrading the structure of the bill. I still had to call for the daily production and then I paid. The next month the bill was huge. There was no explanation but it was easy to see they had not credited the last month payment. Again I called for current month daily production did my own calculation since their improved billing did not show it and paid. Somewhere in the phone calls I let them know they would not have access to my bank account since they have been irresponsible. This month I do not get a bill but get a notice that there is a past due amount. Checked my bank and all payments had been processed. Called and got the rudest young man (Jake) and was told since they couldn't take money out of my bank I owed them more. Oh, and the bill may be sent on the 8th. Can you tell who is flakey in this business relationship. Of course I expect the payment ( due on the 10th) will be late. I will have to call for daily production amounts again before paying. So, decide how much trouble you want to have just to pay a bill before entering into a solar relationship with Vivint Solar. Watch your bills! read more

Installation was fine and our service was fine but when it came time to sell our house it turned into to a nightmare. From April until June I was constantly on the phone trying to get a hold of somebody. The transfer team apparently only has two people working with them. Our buyers almost backed out because they could not get a hold of vivint to get questions answered. I called numerous times to get my completed transfer agreement done I finally had to threaten to sue because I was so frustrated sitting in my empty house on the phone for hours with nobody doing their job. (I got the completed transfer agreement four days after i was orginally suppose to close on my house) When I got the completed transfer agreement I was relieved that I no longer had to deal with this company but as of today I still get calls from the billing department because they have yet to complete the transfer on their end. read more

BEWARE! Roof leaking causing damage to house. Communicated issues to Bobby Sanders on the Damage Resolution team. Bobby sent a team out to assess the roof, stating that the roof was leaking due to rotting leaves under the panels and stated that panel guards are offered for purchase; however, the sales rep never offered this option. My dad was not satisfied with his determination of the roof deteriorating due to the rotting leaves as the roof was flashed wrong, and pieces of the panel construction was not secure. Bobby sent another tech out and that tech stated that a lot of things were done wrong with the installation of the panels. The tech confirmed that the flashings were flashed wrong and the panels should've never been placed to an double layered roof because of the additional weight of the panels. He stated that the grommets are not long enough to go through two layers of shingles. When the panels were installed the installers put multiple holes in the multiple flashings when only one hole should have been placed per flashing throughout the roof. To "remedy" this situation, Bobby sent the tech back out to patch the roof where it was leaking. The patch job caused the roof to be uneven, patchy, and wavy; the roof continues to leak. The tech also changed a little bit of the insulation and cut out two pieces of plywood and patched it back up and put shingles over top. The trusses have mold on them. The house has no attic, and the roof is going to need to be removed and assessed to determine any mold growth since there are leaks throughout the entire house - this is a HEALTH HAZARD. Bobby promised that there would be a roofing contracting coming out to assess the roof, and no one has came out to look at it or give an update. Bobby has been getting harder to get in contact with and is often "out sick", and has not been responding to emails. The roof needs to be replaced, contract terminated, and panels removed from the property. The techs have them laying against the deck with wires exposed to the weather. read more

Homeowners Beware! We had Vivint Solar install a system on our house a few years ago. Unfortunately, the installation was done improperly. We have had numerous subcontractors sent out by Vivint to repair the roof and the resulting water damage throughout our home. There were so many leaks that we developed a significant mold problem in the attic. When one of the contractors said the roof wasn't structurally sound due to all the water and mold damage, Vivint hired another home improvement contractor to replace the roof. We were thrilled until we noticed that the roofer damaged our gutters, gave misinformation about the repairs made (as documented by an independent inspector and then another one of Vivint's contractors), improperly installed flashing and never even touched the mold. Despite the fact that the roofer charged Vivint for mold abatement and replacing plywood sheeting that wasn't done, Vivint is standing by their fraudulent and incompetent roofer and is ignoring the professional opinion of the licensed inspector and mold abatement industry standards. This is my first negative Yelp review, but perhaps in another post I'll write about how they improperly installed the electrical inverter box, and the damage that resulted when the box fell off the wall, ripping siding off the house and creating a fire hazard. read more

BEWARE of Vivant Solar My parents used Vivant Solar. Very very disappointing company. The salesman pitch my parents a quote that their bill would be roughly $150. First month started at $90 and has gone up every month for the past 6 months. Now their bill is over $250 and summer isn't even here yet. My father explained to the salesman that they were both retired and on a fixed income. Now their bill is higher than Edison ever was at this time of year. The installation took over 6 months and not a clean job at all. They drilled holes in my parents concrete to have ground wires attached. Broke the tiles on my parents roof, which took months to get them to fix. The system the put on the house is way oversized for 3 people. Their roof leaked from bad installation of the panels last July and damaged my parents wall. Its now 11 months later and the room still has stains from the water damage. Very hard to reach anyone in the office. Very disappointed this company can misrepresent their product and company so badly!! Also that they take advantage of elderly people knowing they are on a fixed income. I WOULD NOT recommend this company to anyone!! Please do research on solar companies. Salesman are salesman......they are there to sell you something without any knowledge of their product or the customers needs!!! BEWARE of VIVANT SOLAR!!!!! read more

I did not give these people permission to get a credit report and they I don't know how but they did. That make me think these people a crocks and I will not do business with them at all if that the way they work. Now the hard inquiry is on my credit report and that is BS. I didn't even see what it would cost for solar so why they did a credit report is a joke. read more

Vivint Solar has been a huge disappointment. We started this process back in November of 2016. Our sales representative told us that we need a new roof before we could put solar on so we had a contractor come and put a new roof on. The roofers were great they came and tore off 3 layers of shingles and installed a new roof in 1 1/2 days. They were part of the solar expense so it is all in one loan. Vivint still has not paid the roofing company for their great service and we still are not operating with solar. it has been over 3 months for this process and now my payments are due in March for the roof and solar. I have called Vivint and still have no answers. Very disappointed!!!!! read more

I just want to say that a was a little skeptical about vivint after reading some of the reviews on line. I have a cousin in California who said they have it and they love it. Amy Jeffries is amazing. She is so informative and knowledgable and could answer every question we had for her and my husband had plenty. We decided to have it installed. AMAZING. every step of the way I knew where we were and how things were going. The day of the install the workman and everyone was so nice and friendly, efficient etc. When the job was completed they cleaned up so good you couldn't even tell I had workman there- unlike other companies I've dealt with. I would HIGHLY recommend Vivint/Go Solar to everyone. Besides the fact of being better for the environment who doesn't want to save on their power bill. Certainly the 500.00 a year savings on my bill will be better spent somewhere else! Everyone who can should Go Solar! read more
