I arrived and met Demi who was really courteous and was ushered into this cozy room that was set up nicely with robes and an electric fireplace. Demi was great in getting the knots out of my neck and shoulder area. She was professional and very nice. My big complaint is that the massage lasted only 40-45 minutes. I timed it from start to finish after I read that the same happened to others. When I'm paying for a 60-minute massage, I expect it to last 60 minutes. But instead, the massage ended 15 minutes earlier than expected which left me pretty disappointed. Was it worth the $45 (and tip) that I paid for the Pulsd deal? Maybe. We got there right as they were opening & went through the standard procedures of filling out a form etc before the massage & then were promptly led into the massage room. They had a bench and a coat rack in the back of the room for hanging our clothes/jackets. Our masseuses came in shortly thereafter so there really wasn't much of a wait time at all and it didn't cut into our massage time so that was great. The massage therapists were great. Mine was kind and professional & used the exact amount of pressure I requested & focused on the areas I requested as well. She was thorough and did a great job. My only complaint is the room we were in. During a massage or any spa treatment the ambiance makes all the difference in my opinion and a tranquil/quiet environment is key for relaxation. They ran 40 minutes late because of poor scheduling and they do not care about your time - that's all you need to know. SCHEDULING I was 10 minutes early. Waiting area was crammed with people. The receptionist kept telling us the room will be ready soon. This went on for almost an hour. When I was about to ask to come back another day, the room was suddenly ready. Maybe she saw the veins on my head. I was so stressed from waiting without a definite start time, and because I had dinner plans that I now had to rush to after, that I could not have a relaxing experience anymore. I even called earlier and confirmed they were running on time, so this lateness is very unprofessional for a spa. MASSAGE As for the massage, it was not good. The table had a weird smell and a headrest hole at the breast level so that half of each breast was painfully pressing into it. The nice masseuse tried to help by putting a towel under, which later sank into the hole and hurt more than it helped. The Swedish massage had minimal pressure on my back but 10x the pressure on my legs. I circled that my neck/shoulders were bothering me but she barely worked on those areas. The receptionist guaranteed that we would still get a full 60 min, but the massage was only 50 min. PAYING It was quite bold of them to try to sell me a package after. I ain't coming back after this mess. On my way out, everyone in the waiting area looked pissed too. After working 3 12-hour shifts in a row and celebrating our late Valentine's Day, my fiancé and I were ecstatic to go through our second annual couple's massage! Although we had the help of Groupon to book the massage, Lumiere Spa did not let us use the Groupon anywhere from February 9 - February 17, seeing as this is the prime time for Valentine's Day. We found that strange, especially considering this information was not included in the Groupon when we bought it, but we were able to go today. Furthermore, there was a mandatory $20+ tip to be paid in cash, as well as a $9 fee for using Groupon to be paid also in cash. This was the first time we have heard of this, although the total price was still a great deal. We entered Lumiere Spa and there was an immediate calming and soothing vibe around the lobby. We filled out our forms, and then we tried playing some chess as we ate some complimentary Hershey's kisses and drank some complimentary water. However, it was only about a minute of sitting down before the hostess called us over to our room. The room was shrouded in a neon blue light. Complimentary robes were hung on the wall, although the hostess never made it clear as to when we were actually able to use them. There was even an artificial campfire "roasting" in front of us, augmenting to the relaxing atmosphere. Once we were settled in, each of our massage therapists came into the room and started the massage. I noticed my massage therapist was somewhat ungraceful in removing the towels to expose each area that would be massaged next. Furthermore, when preparing to massage my back, she straight up pulled part of my underwear down, revealing my butt crack. What's the point of having the option of wearing underwear or not if she's just going to pull it down anyways?? I wish we at least got an introduction of what their names were! It would have been nice to get to know them a bit before they start showing off my exposed butt crack to the ceiling and some strangers. The massage of the back, arms, and hands felt soothing, as if my stress was melting away from my body. The massage of the upper thighs and legs were quite ticklish, and I found myself attempting to stifle a reaction and not twitch many times - although this could just be a personal "issue". In addition, sometimes the towel would slip a bit so when facing the ceiling, my chest would be exposed even when it didn't have to be. The massage itself ended up only being about 50 minutes. 10 minutes of the "60 minute massage" was more so for logisitcs eg filling out paperwork as well as changing/getting settled in, so make sure to come early! We left our room feeling more relaxed and with less pain! We walked back to the front, and were asked to pay for the "mandatory tip" and Groupon fee. Seeing as my last massage experience before Lumiere Spa was much more graceful/didn't feel uncomfortable at all, it almost felt strange giving a "minimum tip of $15". I had a bad experience with the Lumiere Spa in Rosevelt Field Mall on Long Island. Their non-surgical "face lift" sounded like a good and safe treatment. After some introductory treatment, I signed a contract for the full treatment which uses various creams and their LED light therapy device Perfectio X. They asked for some of my health information to make sure that I was a viable candidate. For instance, they made sure I did not take blood thinners. They also asked about what meds I take and I told them the general names and categories. I signed a contract. That night, I went on line to see how else I could use the Perfectio X as I was told that it could be used to ease arthritis pain. In the process of checking that out, I came across a Cleveland Clinic note that anyone using the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide should not use light therapy since hydrochlorothiazide is photo-sensitive - that is, my skin would heat up more than was intended by the procedure. I called Lumiere the next morning and explained my situation to Katrina and asked to cancel my contract due to the danger of burned or scarred skin. She said that only David - the manager - could deal with that since the contract was final. Katrina did not seem to know that hydrochlorothiazide - a very common med in treating high blood pressure - was light sensitive. I have texted and called David regularly for three months. He has done nothing. Technically, under NY law, Lumiere is not responsible for bad outcomes since I am responsible for knowing whether or not I am able to have the treatment. Yet they cared enough to ask about blood thinners and some other contraindicated elements. Although I told them I take meds for high blood pressure, they didn't know enough about those meds to stop me from signing up. It seems to me that they should at least have a list of all the meds that are photosensitive since they are the ones designing the non-surgical facelift. So now I have an expensive Perfectio X light machine and creams and cleansers that cost quite a lot. But I cannot use them as they were intended for fear of burns. So---BUYER BEWARE when dealing with Lumiere! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GROUPON! Wish I had seen the reviews before booking. I've been trying to book for weeks (months) and there's always an issue. Today I called at 4pm and after I mentioned Groupon the lady said there was an issue with the server and she'd call me in 5 minutes. Two hours later no call. I called at 6:30 and the person hung up, second time they ask how I heard about them and I said Groupon and all of a sudden weekends were booked through April. Fine, asked for a week day and was told they were fully booked until the end of April after 5pm. I called again the next day, told them I heard about them on yelp and all of a sudden weekends were open and the system worked fine. When she asked me for a credit card I told her I'd be paying with a Groupon and the whole mood changed. The lady said "it was different for Groupon users" because they don't open that many slots as they save them for "regular paying customers" when I asked what was the difference, she couldn't come Up with an answers and kept repeating the same Thing over and over again. Bottom line is, don't waste your money on this. Mona: Your attempt at excusing this ridiculous "policy" is sad. Over the phone I was told the weekends were available and was asked which day I wanted to come and at what time. So no, they are not pre-booked. You simply refuse to accommodate Groupon users despite us being regular paying customers (the only difference in price between us and those that don't use Groupon is $20). Not only that, but those that use Groupon most likely do so because we're looking for a place we can go to regularly. So you excluding us means you're losing clientele. I don't care what your policy is, but if those paying with Groupon have limited availability then that should be stated on the Groupon rather than finding out after we've already purchased it. WARNING IF YOU'RE PURCHASING A GROUPON: It's a SCAM. Don't waste your money if you plan on booking a weekend. They won't let you, although it doesn't say that anywhere on the Groupon. It's really terrible to be treated so dismissively when I've already paid for their falsely advertised product. This place is straight up shady. I called the number on the Groupon multiple times between morning and late afternoon to book an appointment, and it took them five tries to actually answer the phone. If they ever answer your call, they won't even tell you weekend availability until you tell them "how you heard about them," i.e. if you've already paid/purchased a Groupon or not. If you've already paid, they'll only let you book on weekdays. What's even worse is that they wouldn't let me book several weekends in advance because "the system" doesn't allow it. So, I basically have to take a day off of work to use what I've already paid for, even though that wasn't part of the deal. I was willing to book a couple of months in advance but they wouldn't let me. I'm no software engineer but to say your calendar doesn't go past 3 weeks doesn't sound quite right. I told him just to write my appointment in a book and he said, "That doesn't work for us." Hmmm. Lumiere Spa, if you want to make people pay more for weekends, that is your choice as a business owner. Where you become a scam operator with fraudulent advertising is when you lead people on Groupon to believe they are purchasing a normal massage, when in fact the product is an inferior one, with restricted usage. People don't have the opportunity to assess the value of what they're buying because you've obscured the limits of its use. You should be ashamed of your deceptive business practices. So let me start this review by saying that I was ridiculously nervous about coming to this spa. I had bought a Groupon months ago for a couples Swedish massage and never bothered to read reviews until a few days before our appointment. The receptionist Amanda was super kind and attentive. She asked us if we had any questions and handed us a quick form to fill out before our massage. When we were done we were greeted by one of our masseurs and brought to our room. It was dimly lit by a blue hued light and had soothing music. We were then asked to kindly, remove our clothes and get underneath the blanket they had laid out on each bed. When the masseurs Lilly and Nelly both returned to our room they were each explained to us how the process went and what kind of massage we were interested in and the kind of pressure we were looking for. Upon arrival, Spa was beautifully decorated, aroma was great and the staff was very kind and professional. Signed a form and got right to my massage. I came in for a facial and the place is run so unprofessional. While waiting to get my facial, they would whisper secretive and look back at you like if they were talking about you. Made me feel very uncomfortable. While I was getting my facial they told my esthetician to hurry up that she had another customer. I've been here 2 times due to the low prices. The first time was great, my masseuse, don't remember her name, was very kind and I felt amazing after. Second time around, my boyfriend and I decided to come again. I had Nelly, she was very kind and kept asking if the pressure was good. I do not know the name of my masseuse or my partner's, as they didn't introduce themselves. I was in pain about 80% of my massage. I asked the woman to go lighter twice, but nothing really changed. Her hands were moving so quickly it felt like I was sitting on one of those nail salon massage chairs. It felt as if she had no knowledge of human anatomy, she was literally squeezing my foot bones and my kneecaps. It genuinely hurt. I honestly think I may have bruises tomorrow from the way she was rapidly jabbing her thumbs into my muscles. There was nothing smooth about it. Two more minor complaints: my masseuse's breath smelled, and when she would fold back the tiny towel to expose one limb and cover it back up, my hands or my feet would stick out in the cold and she didn't notice.
