I've been here now three times and each experience actually got worse. The first time I went was their second open weekend. Good was good but only had two options to order from. Had La Isla and it was made properly but too much money for mostly rice and beans and three tostones. Made a comment to manager about no one wearing gloves and they cross contaminated. Second time only half employees had gloves and the two that didn't made an excuse for not having them. Chicken was dry like it was leftover. Third time again ordered the same pollo from la isla. Got two tostones that were mashed, no salt in the food (which it should be). One employee who had been the one who didn't wore gloves before had them but then cleaned a floor and then touched food after with same gloves on! Were promised a gift certificate which never came. Went back to give it another shot. Food was good but still it still came out whenever it wanted. My wife and I got ours at about the same time, one friend's came out 10 minutes later, the next came 20 minutes later. 3 of us ordered from the same food place, the 4th from the burger joint. Sitting and letting your food get cold while you wait for the last person to get their food just kinda sucks. We all used the same table number. There is 0 table service so I'm not sure what the tip option is for when you pay for your food...the sever seemed a bit taken aback when I asked for ketchup. read more

Food is always fantastic and the staff is usually extremely helpful and friendly. I love the atmosphere and uniqueness of the Lumberyard.

My boyfriend and I ended up going here and ordering two small personal pizzas. It took a little over an hour and 30 minutes to get them. It was also kinda crappy that you had to order and PAY first without knowing how the service was going to turn out. Once our food came out we just took it to go. The food was great. I had the Cubans from the La Isla container. It was very good. The atmosphere of the place was also great. It had a great vibe. There are definitely some startup issues. We had to purchase drinks separate from the food. Our food all came to us at different times, and some of the servers were not sure what they had in hand when the delivered the food. There were some glitches in the technical side, we could not order a pizza, for example. Overall this is a nice place. I will be back here again and will review it again. read more

I like the concept but the food varies a great deal in preparation and taste depending on the cook. Its also not great for groups as different items will be served at wildly fifferent times even from the same stall. Also rarely get the actual sides you order. They seem to just give you whetever is standard no matter what you paid for. read more

Came here for the first time tonight, it was good but could have been better with a couple of changes. I had the 10oz steak (rare) with fries and slaw, the slaw was great and I'm not usually a slaw fan apple adds a good amount of sweatiness to it. Fries were good too. Steak was a bit underwhelming though, the cut was great and perfectly cooked but it had little flavor, well no flavor really. Even a bit of salt and pepper would have worked. Noise level even with the few people there was really high (kids screaming in play area) I suggest something to hang from ceiling to stop the sound from echoing. Mediocre food. Portions are too small, both for the cost and for my tummy. Worst thing is the seperate kitchens cant get the meal done at the same time which means one person might be finished before another person even gets their food. Friendly staff and neat venue but im consistently disappointed with the food and execution. Five tries is enough; I doubt I will go there again. read more

Terrible experience. I really want to like this place but it just keeps disappointing me. No one seems to care. There's really no one to complain to, so there's no accountability and no improvement. Went there the last time tonight an hour before closing. We wanted a salad or a grain bowl but the only sections open were the pizza place and the grill. We ordered a steak and a couple of baked potatoes to share. The food came out relatively quickly but we were also quickly disappointed by it. The potatoes were wrapped in foil and had obviously been cooked much earlier. They served both potatoes with a pat of butter and when we asked for other toppings we were told they were out. Eventually we asked another server who brought out honey butter from the chicken place which we only found out about after putting it on the soggy, tired potato. Chimichurri steak was ok, not great. They were putting chairs up on the tables before we even got our food as if to say "hurry up and get out" when I asked the bartender what the pfriem handle was I was told it was Fremont. read more

This place is fairly new so I gave it a few visits before I wrote my review. Each of our three visits were on Friday evening. Our first visit was the worst and each trip has been better. First visit we tried to order pizza but they were temporarily out of pizza dough, told us they'd have some more dough in a minute, but never did. We all ordered food from the burger stand but there was about a 15 minute difference between when each person on the same order got food. My steak sandwich was cold by the time the burgers showed up over the next 30 minutes. They definitely have some kinks to work out in that respect. The tables are cafeteria style which is problematic in that other guests will cram up next to you, even after some "you're too close to me" side eye, until they have made you so uncomfortable you want to move. Our second visit we decided to skip the food and just grab a drink while we watched our son play at the indoor play structure. This is a big hit for all the kids. Unfortunately this included several aggressive unsupervised older kids, who I then had to protect my toddler from on all three visits. People use this place to dump their kids and forget them. As a result, my son left our first visit with an injury. Third visit we got there before dinner rush. This worked out well. We were able to find seating, order food and drinks, and enjoy some time together. This trip we got there before they ran out of pizza dough. Our pizza was the bbq (pre cooked) chicken, which had great flavor but the dough was not cooked and we had to use forks to eat it. We also got chicken tenders and mac & cheese from the chicken stand which wasn't available on our first two visits. This was good, the chicken flavor was delicious, but more greasy than it should have been. Mac and cheese and biscuits were both delicious too. Another issue is the availability of water/drinks. This self service soda fountain is tucked in the corner behind the bar. It would be so much easier if water wasn't dispensed from soda machine and if they had kid size cups. After you are done eating you are responsible to bus your own table. We had to search out where to put our food trays, which I didn't really like. Free arcade games were a big hit for my teen and the clean family bathroom with a changing table and toddler toilet were a big hit with this mom! Overall I enjoy this idea and the food but they need to work on the logistics of the seating and play area. read more

So disappointed, my husband and I stopped by during their "soft" opening. We asked if we could make a reservation for graduation weekend. They were very accommodating, took down our information and said they would call us with the details and the cost. Stating they would be happy to have us. After a week of not getting a call, I called and talk to Becky. She needed to call me back with the cost and the details. When she called back she stated because it was graduation weekend they would NOT accommodate us. Now we are stuck with no where to celebrate our son's graduation. a huge disappointment. i was excited that a new food establishment opened up. i wanted to give it a fair chance so I got a variety of things to see what's good. i tried the fried chicken, the skirt steak and the wings (super bowl special). chicken was burnt and tasted like it was sitting in a brine before they fried it. Yuck. biscuit was cold, hard and dry even with the honey butter. the mac and cheese was an embarrassment. dry noodles with a puddle of cheese sauce at the bottom of the bowl, topped with a pinch of bread crumbs. the steak was tough and salty as hell. the chips that accompanied it was decent but come on its chips. the wings were tiny and overpriced. atmosphere was very dark and gloomy. will not return. read more

I have every intention to keep supporting this business; they opened recently and still frequently run out of various entrees, making it especially difficult for vegetarians--but I read that several businesses are supposed to offer more entrees, so I'll keep hoping. The La Isla $3 rice and beans was actually perfect for my daughter, and we hope the plantains are there next time around. It's a great concept and a really nice space. read more

I was unimpressed. Ordered from Isla. Beans were cold, pulled chicken very salty--and I usually like lots of salt. Friend's pizza was undercooked. Less than half full but the place was so loud you had to yell to be heard. Could have handled the noise if the food was good. They advertise the fried chicken place but it's not open--something about the fryer not being ready. Couldn't order burgers because they had a 50 minute wait so they wouldn't let you order. I went here this past weekend with some friends. The food was terrible, the pizza dough was raw and the toppings weren't cooked either. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is that once we mentioned our bad experience to the manager she did everything she could to make it right including a refund, offering a complimentary meal, and giving us free ice cream. She said the large majority of her college student staff just took off for break and left without saying anything so they were incredibly understaffed. Visited the Lumberyard when visiting my son @ WSU. I loved the food and the atmosphere. We both ordered burgers and I have to say the onion bacon jam was so yummy! The burgers did take a while to get out but sitting upstairs, enjoying our cocktails and looking at the architecture made the wait go by quickly. The group next to us ordered giant salad bowls that looked amazing as well. I think it's a great addition to the downtown area and will definitely be back next time I'm in Pullman. read more

The layout and concept of the restaurant is great however is rest is deeply disappointing. They do not have enough staff. The last few times we were in there they were out of certain food items and you didn't know that until you hunted a staff person down. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The last time we were in there a soon to be former employee told us it was her last day and continued to inform us about poor management and lack of employee support. We've experienced lack of service, undercooked food (fried chicken), over cooked food (the steak was like leather) and lack of food. My fear is that Pullman will lose another business. read more

We finally had the chance to eat at the Lumberyard and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Really interesting concept. It worked well for our family because we have different food favorites. On jah, this food court has probably the worst service of any food court I've ever been too. Sure, the food was okay, but me and several of my friends had to wait over an hour just to get a pizza as others were served before us. In the United States of jahmerica, I've never witnessed such a terrible business model. I'm tired of being overcome by hipsters. In my jahpinion, your jahcoins are better spent somewhere else. I was really excited to try this place because it looked super fresh and new. When we arrived at 6:45pm it was super crowded with no seats in sight. Obviously this is just how self seating goes so that wasn't the most bothersome. We ordered at 7 and did not receive the first round of food until about 25 minutes later. The chicken was extremely dry like the turkey from National Lampoons Christmas! Then, 15 minutes later the burger came out and the fries were extremely burnt. Then, it took 20 more minutes for 3 bowls of salad. Lastly, we waited an hour for the last item which was a Hawaiian pizza. We had to go up to the actual kitchen and ask if they knew where the pizza was or if it was even made. An hour and 15 minutes later we finally got the pizza. What I will say was nice is that they refunded our pizza and I could tell they felt super bad. This place is a great concept but really needs to work out some kinks :/ read more

This could've been so good. I wasn't going to leave a review, but after reading many of the others and nodding my head enthusiastically because they were describing my experience, I felt like I needed to contribute. It took 15 minutes to get my burger, but I decided to wait until my wife received hers before I dug in. You know, because that's what you do. And typically, restaurants recognize that their patrons would like to eat together. After 15 more minutes, I asked where hers was and they acted like they never saw the order. So we finally both have food and mine is cold. No apology. Nothing. They actually were displaying a kind of diffusion of responsibility. None of the staff would step up and take ownership of the mistake or anything. I got the sense that everyone that works there expects you to know what to do when you walk in. No one greets you, explains how to use the kiosk, or generally cares about your experience at all.Like I said, it could have been a great place. Pity. read more
