I stayed at the pullman Marriott a while ago and not only had a horrible experience they don't give out anything for breakfast because they have a "bistro" on site. $$$$. At booking i was told the hotel offered a continental breakfast however it was more of a breakfast buffet of everything but meat. It was A+++, and extremely generous with choices. We enjoyed out short stay here! Our room was a little rough around the edges, but that's because they are a busy facility with the university in town. They also seem like a destination for social, family functions, with large gatherings in their conference area both nights we were there. It was neat seeing all the happy people. Went here over Valentines weekend. Called while booking to ensure the 2 reasons I book with a hotel, the jacuzzi and extended breakfast, were offered. I booked 40 days in advance. I was told yes. Made the same call 3 days prior to my reservation " is the breakfast as advertised and the hot tub still operational" and was told yes. I get there Saturday and I come down to use the Jacuzzi and I'm told it's out of order. The air filter doesn't work, but the pool is open. That night, the tv stations need an access code. I was given a code by the front desk and it did not work. When I called to notify my code didn't work I was told "that's the only one I know of, sorry." So we watched the cable channels on TV. The next morning, I get up for breakfast everything is empty absolutely no food no waffles no bacon no eggs no sausage no fruit no bread. All that is there is yogurt, milk, and bagels. I asked for the food to be restocked and the guy from the front desk comes and restocked the frozen sandwiches and brings out more waffle. Mix bless his heart. He's the only one working and then someone from the back comes out and lets us know there's no more syrup and someone has to run to the store to get syrup and it'll be about 10 minutes. I felt really let down by this establishment. I came to Pullman to visit my daughter and relax from just finishing a project at work and drove over six hours away and trusted the reviews, amenity description and the stars to book my room. I have stayed in the best Western in Moscow before, it was 12 minutes further out, I wish I would've just stuck to what I know Instead of looking at convenience of location and trusting that the amenities I wanted the hot tub and the breakfast were available. The room was perfectly fine however they allow pets and I seen several owners letting their big size Akita's or wolves poop on the property and not pick it up. If you just need a room to lay your head in this is it but if your for advertised amenities that you're told you will have, don't bank on it. It also must have been family weekend because we choose the weekend parents let their children run and up down the halls while they yelled out often commands. We got there a little early and got to check in. I was pleasantly surprised that I was already a "member" being from Expedia, so I got an upgrade and a wine bottle included in our stay. The staff was so good and friendly. The pool was closed which was a bummer for our little guy but the hot tub was running so they opened it for us. They gave us a city view on the top floor. The room was a good size and clean. I'm not sure how many other people were staying here I only saw one other group there. It was definitely nice and quiet. Nice it's only skin deep. I don't know if it was just or room but it was noisy. Bathroom door creaked like it was 100 years old and had never know lubrication. Office chair sounded like it was competing with the bathroom door for attention. The little fridge, although convenient, would "twang" like an out of tune violin every time it cycled off. Room overlooked a cemetery which creeped my wife out. I could hear other rooms alarms and conversations and some people would rudely have loud conversations out in the hallway. Continental breakfast was pretty standard but bagels tasted stale. Bed pillows were flat, I mean really flat, more so than other hotels flat pillows. Surprisingly they cleaned our room although we were staying multiple days. Cable tv was difficult to navigate, you'd have to wait on a channel to see if the signal came in before slowly moving on to the next channel. The only one that came in consistently was Nickelodeon which was always on Sponge Bob. read more

Stayed here recently for 12 nights and 13 days. Hopping place and area with freshman orientation, high school reunion's and baseball tournament going on. Room was comfortable as was an unusual hot spell. Spencer from the time of check in to check out date was helpful, kind and extremely efficient. I will be staying here in the future for sure. Booked a stay here on a busy game weekend through Hotwire. But due to family emergency wasn't able to use our room. When I called the hotel the night before our reservation, to see if we could cancel, I was told that they couldn't refund us because we had paid for the reservation through hotwire. So I called hotwire to cancel, and was told that they WOULD refund our $, they just needed hotel approval first. After they called the hotel, I was informed that the Hotel declined to approve the refund. So even though Hotwire was willing to process the refund, the hotel still wanted their $. When I called the hotel back, I was basically told (by a really rude receptionist, who was "put out" that I had called back) that it was a busy weekend for the hotel, and if I wasn't using my room, they would be renting it out to someone else. They just sold the room twice! SUPER SHADY behavior and horrible customer service! read more

This is a awful place to stay we couldn't get our room until 7:30 pm, they gave us inactive keys so we had to go back down stairs, I went to take a shower and noticed duck tape on the shower rod and once I started my shower I had a mostly cold shower. We were very tired after moving our daughter from a 3 story apartment to a 4 storie apartment. We left Seattle at5:00 am in the morning that day so we were very tired. We payed 360.00 for two nights. Don't waste your time or money staying in this hotel. The sheets, pillows and beds are over 5 years old with little to no protective covers and are extremely dingey, see through and heavily stained. Bed skirts have holes in them, there are cobwebs around the beds and the bath tubs have a residue on them that shows they clearly haven't been scrubbed in a while... yet they feel it's okay to over charge people. You'd be better off staying at a Super8 Motel. Atleast you'd be sleeping in cleaner sheets, sanitized rooms and be able to keep some extra money in your pockets and out of the hands of these frauds. read more

I stayed for 3 nights, and I had a horrible experience. The staff and front desk were nice and friendly. However, there were several technical and hygienic problems. The card key to my room failed to open my room after every night, which forced me to renew it at the front desk every morning. The room looked decent when I first went in. However, I came to realize that there were hairs within the bed sheets. Also, trash cans were not emptied out. What made my experience so horrible was that there was an inappropriate toy in the trash can. I was especially disappointed, because I was hoping the Hilltop to be the go-to hotel whenever I visit Pullman. read more

I have never stayed at this hotel in Pullman before but it is definitely one of the nicer independently owned hotel/motels in the area. They just remodeled and looks really nice. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The beds were fairly comfortable, I just stayed at the Grand Wailea in Hawaii and I would say they were actually more comfortable than the G.W! And I measure that by how much pain I am in when I get up in the morning. LOL I give 4 stars because the breakfast bar was pretty gross. Yes there was hot food which is great but they gave you a choice of sausage or ham which I dont eat and they had greasy potatoes and some scrambled eggs. I wish they had some more options for cereal (all gross unhealthy kinds) and/or some bagels/muffins with jam. All in all i would stay here again and the rooms were very reasonably priced too. read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Hilltop and found the staff to be extremely friendly and the hotel very clean. They even upgraded my room for free to a suite. They have several themed suites available to choose from. They put me in the "Jazz" room. It was very nice. The hotel is older, but, they are currently in the process of renovating the entire place, and the restaurant onsite is getting a complete make over. In a year the hotel will be completely different. In addition to an indoor pool, Hilltop Inn provides a spa tub, a sauna, and a fitness facility. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet, and every evening they offer fresh homemade cookies with coffee/tea. A very nice touch. If I find myself in Pullman again, I would definitely stay here. read more

We stayed in the remodeling wing. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The HD TV was a good size, and had HD programming for a number of cable channels. The only criticism of our room at Hilltop (like many 3 star hotels) is that you can hear the toilets flush and showers running from the room above. If you are a light sleeper, you are likely to be awakened. I thought the restaurant was ok. I was disappointed that they were out of scrambled eggs for the 15 minutes we were there for breakfast. read more

My husband and I stayed here just one night but enjoyed it. It's a great spot with lots of amenities. The inn and restaurant have been fully renovated and it shows. The new decor and furnishing were very nice! Although our room's ceiling should have been painted a different color than the walls. The wonderful warm (but still crisp looking) gray tone on both the walls and ceiling made the room feel a little too cavern like. Our bed and pillows were perfect! Firm but not hard. There were a couple of things that I found due to my own picky nature. The hallway to our third-floor room needed vacuuming, but it wasn't terrible. Where the carpet in our room met the tile flooring, there were many loose fibers sticking up. How long would it take for someone to notice and just clip those off? Although the room was very clean overall, cleaning staff didn't get into the bathroom floor corners enough with their mop. Lastly, since they have a pool on the same level as the hotel entrance, reception desk and main elevator, someone needs to mop more often. I'm sure that things need to settle down just a little more and this inn will continue to improve. We'll be back. read more

I came to Pullman for my dog's cancer treatment at WSU, and stayed at a different hotel that I wasn't too pleased with, and thought I'd try this one the next time. It's off the beaten path of bars and such, which I like, yet close enough to things if you want to socialize. It's quite, clean, has a fridge/freezer/microwave that all work and aren't all jenkety. The only minor complaint I have is the beds aren't my style of comfort. That's going to be different for each person though depending if you like firm beds. As for staff, I only met one, and she was so sweet. Each time I visited, Morgan had a smile on her face and eager to help at any time. She just had a great vibe about her. So in a nutshell... Pet Friendly, stuff works, staff is friendly, and the icing on the cake was the sign 'Unattended Children Will Be Given An Espresso & A Puppy" displayed at the front. My kind of people. First of all, the people who work there are AWESOME! I think Aaron was at the front desk and he was amazing! The hotel is a little dated in the lobby, but is nice and clean. We did get one of the updated rooms, which was nice. It was clean and well organized. My only 2 complaints with this hotel are that the pool is small and the beds were HORRIBLE! We had to stay for 3 nights for a baseball tournament. 1 night may have been fine, but after 3 nights, my back and hips were killing me. PLEASE GET SOME NEW BEDS! read more

Something else you all should know, my friend did housekeeping for this hotel, and she told me that they don't wash the comforter and some of the sheets after each guest leaves. This is very unsanitary!! Barb, the manager, treated my friend as if she wasn't a person. Yes, the hotel may look nice, but in reality they just want your money. I have stayed in a lot of motels and hotels the past few years. I'm not expecting g the Marriott or anything here. I will say the staff was very friendly. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The TV in our room was tiny. The water pressure was low in shower and it was luke warm. The breakfast needs more variety. I liked the location and they are pet friendly. That made up for a few of the negatives. Price is not to bad as long as you don't eat in the restaurant. read more

The room was 3 stars. Was dated and nothing special. Fridge and microwave by themselves in a corner and not built into a cabinet or anything, one small table and two chairs, flat screen TV in a hutch and two beds for the room I had. Bed and pillow were comfortable. My only two real complaints were that there were not enough outlets to plug in my electronics because they were all taken up by lamps, clock and the TV. The only outlet available was on a wall that I had to use and lay my electronics on the floor. And my second complaint is that the lamps had fluorescent bulbs in them and they do not throw a lot of light out. The room and bathroom were very dark. Think they cater to vampires. The reasons they got 4 stars was because the complimentary breakfast was pretty decent. They had juice, coffee, tea, milk, some assorted cereal, instant cereal, ham, sausage links, scrambled eggs, French toast, bread for toast, mini Danish, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, apples, oranges and fresh cut up watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe. And the next reason they got 4 stars was that my sister originally booked two nights under her name but found different accommodations and gave them to me but I only needed one night. They accommodated or request cheerfully and did not try and charge more for one night because we switched from two to one like some other places would do. And the staff were always friendly and made sure we were taken care of on the phone and in person. And the hotel is a 5 minute easy shot to the WSU campus. Great place to stay if you are attending an early WSU graduation. You can have a hot breakfast with fresh fruit and only have a short five minute drive to Beasley Coliseum. read more

My son goes to wsu. This is my hotel of choice. It is a family owned hotel. It is not part of a chain. They are the nicest people to see. The hotel is very nice. They have updated it and they have done a great job. Rooms are spacious. Beds comfortable. Breakfast Is one of the better I have had at a hotel. The bar and restaurant are great. The best part is the view. Absolutely magnificent. Sunsets are incredible from up here. I have stayed here a dozen times and am always happy. If you need something or are unhappy just tell the staff. If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. My partner and I got to Pullman after 5 hours of driving from Seattle and told that we were not able to check into the hotel until after the game because the football players were staying there. Since we were paying for a whole nights stay, we asked for a partial refund because we wouldn't be able to check into our room until around 11:00 pm. We went to the front counter to ask about a partial refund, and Wendy (one of the owners) was the rudest person I have ever encountered. She started yelling at us telling us we could not get a partial refund, said we were making a scene, and said "do you just want me to kick the football players out of their rooms?". I then went on to tell Wendy that she should not kick the football players out of their rooms, however, we are paying guests also and we are paying for a whole nights stay. Wendy then proceeded to go on about how the football players are more important than us and we shouldn't complain because they are the reason we are in Pullman. Since we could not go into our room, the bar was closed, we decided to bring a beer into the lobby since all of the other guests had beers in the lobby. She then proceeded to start yelling at us in front of everyone and cancel our reservations because we had a beer (which other guests had to, which is how we got the idea). My partner and I were stuck without a hotel 6 hours away from our home. I am absolutely disgusted by Wendy and I do not understand how someone as awful as her can be a owner of a hotel. The food compared to a year ago is so much better than it was. It's honestly a rly good meal for its price and I always get the soup. Their soups of the day is like soooo so good especially their corn chowder and their chicken and wild rice soup. Stayed here with a group for 16 days on business and found the Hilltop to be clean, well landscaped and very comfortable. The rooms are spacious and all have at least microwaves and mini-fridges. The pool is clean and the wifi was still usable even in the evening. The staff has been very accommodating and friendly. Unlike most Pullman hotels, there is plenty of parking here and a decent view.
