Grilled buffalo chicken wrap with fruit for the side!
    Megan M.

I always forget about Lulu's for lunch but we went today and it didn't disappoint! I love being able to sub fruit for the chips or fries for an up charge, and the wrap was amazing! I did drip buffalo sauce all down my shirt, but that's on me, not them Servers are great, and the young teens working were so attentive to the waitresses' needs and helping where they could!

    LuLu's Diner in Wapakoneta, OH

LuLu's Diner in Wapakoneta is about as good as it can get in the sea of diners. Good places for breakfast are so very hard to find. Meaning there are a plethora of diners/breakfast joints but very few of them are worth the effort to track down. I am happy to say that LuLu's in Wapakoneta is in my top 10 diners and should be yours too. LuLu's isn't hard to find. It is basically at the corner of OH198 and OH501, next door to a Chase bank. Gardenia St runs in to the State Routes, which makes for interesting intersection, so be on the lookout! The building is nice and shows signs of being renovated. The interior is open with plenty of seating. The two mornings I was there it was seat yourself, but it would be safe to say that on weekends, you are going to wait for a seat. LuLu's has what I would call a comfortable, modern, farm feel to it. Huge windows circle about 90% of the seating area which provides a nice view when you are enjoying your meal. The staff are so friendly. They are patient and have all the answers for the first-timer. The menu is full of traditional selections with unique names. The first morning I stopped in, I ordered the corned beef hash. The corned beef hash is more than just corned beef hash. It is a complete meal. It is comprised of corned beef hash topped with a poached egg, served with 'homefries', thick sliced toast, and preserves. LuLu's version of homefries is more like what is called skillet potatoes here in Indiana, but nonetheless, are very good. The corned beef hash is what you'd expect from a good corned beef hash, and the poached egg on top, when pierced, adds a nice eggy drizzle to the hash. My toast of choice was sourdough which was served with a small container of strawberry refrigerator preserves. All in all, an outstanding meal. I was so impressed by LuLu's that I returned the following morning. That morning I ordered the breakfast bowl. The breakfast bowl is a bowl layered with scrambled eggs, homefries, sausage, bacon, ham, onions and green peppers. Sausage gravy is slathered over the top, with a heathy covering of shredded cheddar and monterey jack cheese. The breakfast bowl also comes with a side of thick sliced toast and preserves. Mine came out of the kitchen exactly as described and was a good hearty meal for a cold morning. Every bite had a little bit of everything down to the last bite. As the morning before, I had sourdough toast, but instead of the strawberry preserves, mine came out with grape. The grape is just as good as the strawberry, but I am sure the staff will bring out which ver one you want. The prices are very reasonable and a nice change to what I have found to be outrageously priced food in restaurants nowadays. LuLu's Diner is a nice place to enjoy a breakfast of lunch, and i can't wait to get to Wapakoneta so I have an excuse to eat there again!

Bananas Foster French Toast - a little sweeter than I normally eat but very good!

I was asking the people I work with there where are some good places to eat for lunch.I believe The Side Rail came out of nearly everyone's mouths.I arrived at the restaurant for a late lunch probably around 4:30 and the place was not too busy but had its share of patrons. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door with a hello and a smile.I chose to sit at the bar beings I was alone. The decor was very neat with a mix of local and railroad themed decorations. The alcoholic drinks included a large collection of various unique and flavorful drinks and cocktails. I enjoy a good hard cider but the one they had listed on tap had a strawberry flavoring. I mentioned my fondness of ciders but my lack of enjoying strawberry flavored drinks to the waitress/bartender and she immediately offered a sample. I was quite surprised how good it actually was.The menu definitely has a large selection of unique food and combinations especially burgers. I started with an appetizer of garlic cheeses curds. They came out quickly and were fresh, hot, and crispy just how I like them. The garlic flavor with the cheese curds was a great change from the normal cheese curds I'm used to with them even being in cubes.I had to try the burger with Peanut Butter and Jelly, the loaded fries, and Mac and cheese.I was really second guessing that ordering that choice was a good one but boy was I surprised. The burger was cooked perfectly.I will never understand how a burger with cheese, peanut butter,a fruit jam sauce, and even a egg actually not only worked together but was delicious. The loaded fries were crispy, cheesy, and the jalapeños were flavorful but not too hot.The Mac and cheese was also very delicious and very creamy.I will definitely be returning to try some of the other unique sandwiches and cocktails. The only regret I had was forgetting my leftovers in my truck when I got back to my hotel.

Lunch at Woody's Diner: A Buckeye Superfan's Dream…read more If heaven has a diner, it needs to be like Woody's--otherwise, I don't want to go. As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line. My wife went with the Tailgate Burger--a powerhouse with house-made BBQ sauce, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Miracle Whip, and onion straws. Cooked to medium well, it was sweet, tangy, and messy enough to require its own offensive coordinator. She said it was delicious--though maybe a little too "sloppy touchdown celebration" for her liking. And get this--burgers are just the start. The menu is huge, with pizzas, sandwiches, and even big entrees like grilled steak and pork chops. But honestly, when the burgers are this good, I don't know if I could ever call another play. So here's my verdict: Woody's Diner = Buckeye pride + killer burgers + friendly staff = one unforgettable lunch. If you're a Buckeye fan, or just a burger fan, or hey, even if you're that rare soul who just likes food with personality--high tail it to Woody's. Trust me, it's worth it. Until next time, I'm Brian -- and remember to Take the Trip! (And yes, I may have sung the Ohio State fight song all the way home. My wife can confirm.)

On our way down I -75 traveling to…read moreDayton, we were looking for a place that was relatively quick, easily accessible and not too expensive. That usually means choosing a fast food chain location. These chains serve their purpose but aren't much fun. This place popped up on Yelp and turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The location is a short drive off the highway into downtown Sidney, taking about 4 or 5 minutes to get there from Exit 92. It was located in a retro building on the main intersection in town cross corner from the County Courthouse. Approaching from the West on Court St., it looked a little divey. It looks more pleasantly vintage from the Ohio St. side, which is actually its storefront. Our visit to this place prompted me to do some quick research. The Spot has been in business for over 100 years, opening in 1907. A fire destroyed the original building in 1940 and according to the local paper, "the current Art Moderne-style building was completed in 1941 and still features its original white porcelain tile, mid-century neon sign and iconic diner layout." It truly has a retro feel inside, going more or less for a 1950s aura where you would not be surprised to see Richie Cunningham sitting at a booth drinking a malt. Although the jukebox is digital, the upgrades enacted by the new owners who took over last year generally seem to be spot on. While it looks retro, the infrastructure is in nice shape with a clean, tidy appearance. It's a pleasant place for a meal. The format is walk-up-and-order. The girl working the counter was polite and efficient. To be fair in context, however, we walked in around 6:45 PM on a Wednesday night an hour-and-a-quarter before closing. It was not at all busy when we entered with one party there finishing their meal and only two others who walked in before we left. Hence, efficiency would be expected with no other customers to be served, but I'll still note the good work. The food was up quickly without any issues. We sat in 1950s comfort to enjoy our meal. I had the Turkey Club. It was quite good. I ordered mine with Onion Rings as my wife wanted to split these with me. She had the Swiss Lad sandwich, which she said was also very tasty. We split an Iced Tea which was likewise quite good. With everything, we spent $25.48 for dinner. At less than $13 per person, I was happy with that value. We'll certainly look for this place again when we are passing through Sidney.

Loved the sign that said "Table of Champions" I always like it when a restaurant recognizes their customers and appreciates them. We will be back, plan on going up to Sidney again next week.
